Reviews for Hotel Schmitta

Review 1:The town and the hotel are geared up for skiing and possibly also a summer trade. Early September would therefore appear to be mid season and both were dead at this time. Apart from one other couple we were the only guests at the hotel and it was a similar experience at the restaurant we ate at; thus no atmosphere or ambiance. The website mentioned that the hotel has a restaurant but the young man told us this was closed. He also asked that payment for the room be in cash! The hotel is in need of a makeover and although clean does not appear particularly cared for. The flowers on the balcony, for example, were past their best, not fresh looking as in the photograph on the website. This was not the case with adjacent properties.

Review 2:We only saw one member of staff during our overnight stay. This was a young man from Holland who had stayed on after the ski season. He was very personable.

Review 3:Not that bad, but the WiFi was weak in the room. If I went down the hall and out on the back patio, it was quite strong... no big deal!

Review 4:The location and price of Hotel Schmitta was idea within walking distance of other areas in Fiesch. Peter, the hotel manager was FAR ABOVE AVERAGE to accommodate and was a very friendly person. The food at the restaurant on the first evening was far above average, also.

Review 5:nothing

Review 6:our room is a very big room , it can accommodate 7 person, it has a nice kitch, and beds are very comfortable. the location is also good, u can walk to the cable car office within 10 minutes. The host is a very nice gentleman, my hunsband's leg was hurt and the host gave us ice , that's very thoughtful and we highly recommend this hotel.

Review 7:All good☺

Review 8:The owner Floris and his employee Peter were so incredibly kind and helpful. We stayed only one night traveling from Courmayeur to Wengen and were trying to get reunited with our lost bag from the airline. They helped call the airport multiple times and stuck around waiting for the airline to call back. Floris even volunteered to drive hours out of his way to get us our missing bag. We had a good time chatting and listening to his stories about hanging out with Bodie Miller and Ted Lighety on the slopes of Hintertux Austria. Cant say enough about their generosity. Thanks guys!

Review 9:What a dreamy location! The village is beautiful. You're in the valley of the Alps. The Rhone River is just across the street. A bakery and a Coop grocery store are a few steps away. Everything you need is right there. The staff were very friendly, fun, and we had a great time with them. They showed us some local things and gave good advice on things to do. It was a memorable time and we all wished we could have stayed longer. We are planning another trip there sometime soon (we hope!).

Review 10:We were fine with this, but not a good room to stay in during a hot summer day. Lower floors help, on shady sides. Good at night as things cool down.

Review 11:Great outdoor patio dining after a day of exploring.

Review 12:Quite small room and no A/C optionö. Bumpy Beds

Review 13:Free Parking at Site Close to Coop, Center, Cable Car Very kind and polite Staff Nice Breakfast Free Wifi- avaialble everywhere

Review 14:Rather run-down generally, lacking in atmosphere and in need of makeover, though for a last minute booking it was ok if like us you're mostly out and about. With owners away, evening kitchen was very disappointing given earlier reviews, struggling against competition next door. Little tourist information, though staff pretty informative about good hiking options amongst the many available "up top".

Review 15:Very helpful and willing staff, location very close to station and not far from telecabine with regular access to Eggishorn, with best views of the glacier and the Alps from Mont Blanc via Matterhorn to Eiger and beyond.

Review 16:It was very hot in the room in the morning

Review 17:We arrived at 1:30AM and we the person in the reception was still waiting for us (we called to say that we would arrive at that time). They were also very flexible with the breakfast time and the check out. It is also very close to the cable car.

Review 18:We are in our 70's so it would have been good had there been a lift in the bldg. Luckily we travel light and staff helped with little cases.

Review 19:The staff were most friendly and helpful. The hotel was in a great location and very quiet. While we had to park the car about 250 metres away from the hotel it was free and the weather was fabulous. Excellent breakfast.

Review 20:perfect breakfast, amazing food in the restaurant. The owner is really friendly and welcoming. Beautiful view of the mountains from the balcony. Quite and relaxing. Very clean. Very close to the cable car to the fiescheralps. Coop just 2 mins walk away.

Review 21:A lovely family run hotel which is prefect place to reach the ski slopes! Such a clean and comfy room and also the food served in the restraurant was delicious and reasonable

Review 22:There is nothing I did not like.

Review 23:Staffs and owner of the hotel was really friendly and helpful. Made everything possible for our stay to be enjoyable! Breakfast was nice and you could help yourself as much as you wanted. We had dinner on saturday (17 people) and food was really good an exception in this town!

Review 25:A wonderful family run hotel. The owner, Mr Floris Notten was an excellent host and took care of us like no other hotel has ever done. During the train journey from Geneva to Fiesch, my backpack was stolen with our passports and various other valuables. It was fortunately recovered by the police in Nyon and Floris was so determined that we should still enjoy our holiday, and was unbelievably kind to drive himself the 2 1/2 hour journey (each way) to Nyon to get our bag from the police station. During our stay, the food and beverages available in the restaurant in the hotel were fantastic. I would say this is the best hotel I have ever stayed at due to the outstanding hospitality shown by Mr Notten and his family. Excellent location within easy walking distance of shops and the Gondola to skiing. Thank you Floris and Litka.

Review 26:That I had to leave early unexpectedly - although this was also dealt with very well.

Review 27:A late minute addition to the group was accommodated very easily.

Review 28:Mattress was too soft and made our backs ache. Wifi did not work well in the room, but was fine in public areas. Neither of these slights issues spoilt our trip though at all!

Review 29:Right in centre of village, easy to reach trains and cable car. Warm, cosy and comfortable. Owner and family really friendly and helpful! We were ill with bad colds while we were there and we were given medicines and hot drinks for free! Lovely place to stay for a few days over New Year.

Review 30:Wonderful privately run hotel that makes you feel like one of the family! Great food, location, room with a view and super friendly to my dog who was traveling with us! Highly recommend!

Review 31:No halal food around. Cattle for tea in room be good.wifi needs imprvement

Review 32:Location,best staff(family run),very clean,near Co-Op, value for money.they made specialy for us vegitarian dinner(thank you)

Review 33:Our stay was amazing! The hotel is absolutely great! Perfect location, just a little walk to the cable cart to take you up to the mountain to ski and really close to the train station. The owners are amazing, we were leaving really early in the morning so they made us breakfast to take with us. We will definitely return to hotel schmitta absolutely loved every moment of it. The service You get here you would never get else where!!!

Review 34:Great Hotel with very friendly and helpful hosts. The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom one of the cleanest we have ever had. Usual buffet style breakfast with good choice. It was November and the hotel restaurant (like a lot of Fiesch!) was closed for renovation but to save us going out on a very rainy night our host cooked a delicious meal for us - wonderful service.

Review 35:Did not bother us, but those with light sleep may get disturbed by the sound of flowing river next to the hotel Dinner at restaurant did not have much vegetarian options

Review 36:Free parking Good breakfast Close to the train station and cable car to Eggishorn Clean, well maintained family run

Review 37:One of the very very best hotel I ever stayed in my entire Euro Trip (consisting of 5 countries). The host Mr. Floris is a wonderful person and an excellent Cook. this is a family run business so everything they do is from the heart and not as a hotel employee. The hotel is very close to the railway station and is located few steps from the main super market (Coop). you feel like you are at home cause all the basic necessities are available in the room and if you require any thing else you just ask Mr. Floris and he is there to assist you. will go back to this place some day. (Insha-Allah)

Review 38:there was NOTHING we didn't like! Love it all!

Review 39:Ahh, Floris is the BEST host! What a kind, caring man..his wife, his wee daughter and his Mother were all part of the great stay! The breakfast was lovely and delic. Be sure to eat dinner in their restaurant...GREAT food! The fondue and the dinner were just soo special! We LOVED our stay here! Floris helpeful with our trip plan. We were there when the cows are brought from the mountains for the winter...what a site to see! SOOO good!

Review 40:No lift. No wifi in room or on room level. Water flow in shower a little slow.

Review 41:The host was extreemly friendly and helpful. Very warm welcoming. The hotel is very clean, smells good. Very clean linnen. Comfortable beds. Good quality duveys (quilts) and pillows. Room is very spacious. Two large bedrooms and a kitchen. Very good breakfast in a nice area. Excellent pastries. Good location. Can hear water flow from flat.

Review 42:A kettle will be nice!

Review 43:Cool relaxing balcony for a cigar or two! Big bathroom! Furnishing: beds, desk and cabinet are in tune with theme Nice warm super friendly owner (or staff) with husky unique voice

Review 44:Not so spacious but ok size. No lift. There could be no staff at the front desk and you may feel a bit unsecure but it may be all right for this small quiet town. The staff are in the restaurant.

Review 45:Close to the gondora to the gracier. Free parking but need 5 min walk. Staff are friendly. Late check-in was possible as the staff are in the restaurant. Cozy room. The gracier express is running just back side of the hotel. Limited choice but good breakfast.

Review 87:We liked everything about Hotel Schmitta - host Floris couldn't do enough for us - even carried our suitcase up the stairs and provided us with a free lunch to take to the Matterhorn. Food was fantastic also. To provide the perfect ending - we had a heavy snowfall on our last night. Highly recommend.

Review 88:Our host Floris was very friendly and accommodating, nothing was a problem. We arrived very early on the day of our 1 night booking but we were allowed to check in and go off snowboarding/skiing, which was fantastic! We could also check out in the evening, the following day after another full day on the slopes which was very convenient for us. we had dinner at the Hotel Schmitta in the evening and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal, I particularly enjoyed the Entrecote steak served on a hot stone slab so I could "cook" each bite to my own liking! The Fiescheralp, Aletsch Arena area is beautiful with great facilities and great pistes for intermediate level and all the pistes are well serviced with a good network of lifts. A great weekend was had by all and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Thanks very much guys!
