Reviews for Hotel Century
Review 1:Bed sheet had stains. No wifi included. 20 Swiss franc is a bit too much. Thinks they should do something about it.
Review 2:Quiet and bathroom clean. Able to rest
Review 3:Had a great experience, however we paid a lot more by booking 3 monthsin advance, than booking closer to arrival. Nothing was complementaryfor traveller, locked cabinet with personal items, took away fromexperience.
Review 4:Staff very friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean.
Review 5:The staff were not particularly helpful and there were no entertainment channels in English on TV
Review 6:The fact that it was close to the tram stations - so it was easy to get around
Review 7:1. Hotel very hot; and 2. Check-in at midnight was a disaster. Just make sure that you have the credit card your company used to pay for the accommodation or at least a copy thereof with you, or you will have to pay again or find alternative accommodation! - there is no "sleep now and have your boss email it tomorrow" motto.
Review 8:The day staff was always friendly and helpful. Loved my bed and bedding and aircon in room.
Review 9:The room was a tiny deteriorating dump. WiFi cost 20 USD a night extra and too slow to use Skype. The noise from the street traffic was very loud even though I requested a quiet room.
Review 10:Nice area
Review 11:The staff is incredibly rude and it's a very shabby hotel. They gave us a room next to some area undergoing renovation, so you can imagine the noise. They were literally hammering at our door. The wifi wasn't working and the management seemed completely unapologetic about all the inconveniences.
Review 12:Location
Review 13:Old decoration, very noisy, windows should be redone, my tv wasn't working well. The connection wasn't good. It was cutting all the time. I told the reception but it was still the same after they came to check.
Review 14:they are renovating the hotel and rooms, workers banging hammers in the morning from 8.30!They did not warn us about it!very uncomfortable mattresses and beds!(1 floor impossible to sleep)take Note!wifi Not free(20fr/day)
Review 15:Location is good for shopping ,in hotel they also gives free the tiket for bus and all public transport for all time you stay in Geneve.Parking for 32 fr /night.Kind personal!beautiful new lounge area!
Review 16:Extremely old hotel, everything is outdated. Wi Fi is super expensive (as an extra charge). Had some very loud consutruction works outside the hotel which didnt allow to sleep well. And staff refused to stop thier work!
Review 17:Though I found the bed very comfortable and slept wonderfully, it was a little irritating that the appearance of the room and bed was completely different from the pictures on booking.
Review 18:The staff was incredibly friendly and classy. The bed was also very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean.
Review 19:Rooms are old and need updating. Lighting in the room is extremely poor. The hotel would rather save on electricity than cater to paying guests. Mattress was extremely bad, very hard, thin and uncomfortable.
Review 20:Location is great. Better side of town than city centre train station district. Easy bus route to get anywhere.
Review 21:Had a bad experience from this hotel , the bed was not comfortable at all and the Ac was not cooling and the parking was so expensive
Review 22:Nothing to be liked at all
Review 23:Last day in the hotel when I wake up I wanna to get shower in the morning I surprising NO shower gel and shampoo in the toilet , housekeeping collect from it, No coffee or tea maker in the room & not even 1 bottle of water is provided free. No room service, in fact not much service at all. The tariff shouldn't be more than 100 Euros per night but it is excessively overpriced
Review 24:the only positive thing is the location
Review 25:The most horrible hotel I ever been. Paid Wi-Fi worked only in the toilet in my room. The hotel got the money from my card 3 times. After 4 days money still not returned. One more issue - you can hear everything in the nearby rooms. The hotel definetly is not good for their money.
Review 26:The Wifi was terrible. Virtually non-existent on the 6th floor which is no good when you're travelling for business purposes. I attempted to be moved to a lower floor (unsuccessfully) but to be honest the wifi in the lobby wasn't great either! Rooms are also quite dated.
Review 27:Clean but very basic.
Review 28:It took a very long time to check in (like 20 min). The staff (guy) was not very friendly comparing to other hotels in switzerland. They also withdrew a deposit 200 swiss franc without notifying me but got the money back.
Review 29:nice breakfast.
Review 30:slow to check in, room key card didn't work so had to make several trips to reception to get it re-coded.matteress was thin and a little uncomfortable. Loads of door slamming during the night....
Review 31:Breakfast was ok.
Review 32:We arrived with 6 bikes and aching bodies after 5 days of gruelling cycling ... our needs were tiresome at times .... bikes to be stored .. wii fii questions .. breakfast at a very early time before the hotel was awake . All staff couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating and helpful ... thank you so much .
Review 33:- Staff was simply not welcoming nor friendly and did not seem to understand the most basic rules of hosting and customer facing. Extremely slow check in and check out. - I arrived at 1pm. Asked if I could check in. I was told no. No explanation. When I asked why, I was told, check in is at 3pm, period. I tell them I absolutely need to check in and finally get my room keys. The room was ready. Why being so blunt and unfriendly? Had I been told something like "sorry, but it is a bit early for check in, let me find a solution and try to get a room for you asap", I'd have been very happy. - Far too expensive for the service you get - This is not up to 4 star hotel standards (no mini-bar, room was very small, shower alternates cold and very hot every 20 seconds).
Review 34:- Downtown location, restaurants and other facilities close by.
Review 35:Check in took a while 30min as they seem to lack staff on weekends
Review 36:Location was perfect and breakfast was available till 11 so no rushing to get up to catch breakfast
Review 37:My experience with Hotel Century was overall a good experience until I checked out. Upon check out I was told my bill was not paid, when in fact Hotel Century had debited my account 3 months in advance. Bring your receipt if this is the situation you find yourself in as well.
Review 38:The location of Hotel Century was perfect. A few blocks away from Lake Geneva, and surrounded by cute shops, and easy access to public transit.
Review 39:We 've got single room while booked a double. Small bed, single set of towels. Old windows and dirti carpet. Needs complete rennovation.
Review 40:Located near old city crnter.
Review 41:Reception/Front denk is too slow. Rooms are too old, carpets too. Beds are small, tv channels are limited.Water heat can net be controllable
Review 42:Nice location, close to many attraction sites. Good for transportation options.
Review 43:Unfortunately neither the air conditioning nor the wifi worked and the staff were unable to do anything about either in spite of repeated requests.
Review 44:Very nicely appointed hotel.
Review 45:Was here at the same hotel 4 weeks ago. It costed me 100 eur. It was a fair deal for this value. Now it costed me 200 eur...! Definitely does not worth this money.
Review 46:The rooms are noisy, there was mysterious stink that forced to keep the window open during the night. Traffic is very heavy all night long ...
Review 47:Not much. The lobby looks kind of fancy.
Review 48:Front desk personal. They are unprofessional arrogant. During the check out time I requested them to help to bring my three shut case down from 2nd floor. He refused saying we don't have this kind of service
Review 49:Cleaning staff and break fast service staff.
Review 50:I stayed in this hotel a few times and it seems the staff has been replaced. The service and attitude were appaling; their unsung motto was: "you are bothering us here, go away". More than one example of this during my last stay, so seems it is now systemic for the hotel.
Review 51:Very pricey for what you get. Staff are not welcoming and generally unhelpful (request for iron in room ignored). Rooms are noisy and in desperate need of renewal. No facilities in room or free wifi. Checking out was slow mainly due to incorrect charges on my bill that I had to point out - including charges for meals not consumed and taxes for multiple occupants (I stayed in the room alone).
Review 52:Location - very close to buses and trams.
Review 53:On the internet the hotel looks amazing but in realitie the rooms are simple and like 2 star hotel. Clean rooms but it was a big de disapontment to see nice photo on web and in reality is....big disapointment. When i ask the staff they say that they know about this problem but they have suites that look like those photos.
Review 54:No coffee or tea maker in the room & not even 1 bottle of water is provided free. No room service, in fact not much service at all. The tariff shouldn't be more than 100 Euros per night but it is excessively overpriced.
Review 55:Comfortable and very clean rooms.
Review 56:Everything else is bad, the technology for the hotel is around 1890s. The phones are old and the TV is paid and I couldn't know how to get the free channels. The bed is terrible and you can feel the iron "springs" below. There is an old radio inserted into the bed and doesn't work anymore. The staff ! actually there is no staff only one guy at the reception. The smell is very bad because the cheese!!
Review 57:the only positive thing is the location.
Review 58:The amenities available were not worth the cost of the overnight stay. There wasn't even a kettle to make coffee, which is now commonplace in most class hotels. The paid wifi was atrocious and not worth the cost. I had to sit in the stairwell to get any connection.
Review 59:The location was perfect.
Review 60:No free Wi-Fi... It was odd as the hotel gave me free public transportation pass while it has no free Wi-Fi...
Review 61:The quality of the bed was one of the best experience I had in a hotel
Review 62:Service quality requires lots of improvement. In addition,I could smell the cigarette at my room, air circulation is bad.
Review 63:the location, bed is clean, breakfast is good. They let me borrow the adapter, which is very kind.
Review 64:This is a hotel from the 80s which has not been refurbished. Small uncomfortable bed with old blanket. No drinks (water or tea/coffee) in the room. Empty mini bar. Paying wifi connection that does not work ...
Review 65:the location is fine
Review 66:They charged more than what was announced during reservation! (taxes)
Review 67:Hotel is good. I was pleasantely surprised after reading some bad comments on this site.
Review 68:No service from personell at reception (except from Fabrice).Do not bookat this hotel, they keep the amount(double price of room) as guaranteein the credit card without previous notice.. Unacceptable!!!allcustomers were complaining about this!!!!
Review 69:Only the room
Review 70:Old design. The persons at the reception were not really nice and wanted me to pay 20 euros (!!!) for the wifi. Breakfast seems great but does not taste really good, some fruits were rotten. For 200 euros definitely too expensive.
Review 71:wifi a bit slow breakfast not included and too expensive but there are many quaint bakeries in the area
Review 72:Very nice staff! The hotel is very charming and the room was spotless! Great location in the heart of the city and close to all bus connexions
Review 73:nothing
Review 74:seeing other reviews i had a doubt, but this stay was just too good. clean and tidy rooms, travel around Geneva is not a problem. you get a Geneva pass when you stay here so just do not worry where you stay. for the price, this was perfect. Also to mention the Wifi is FREE !!
Review 75:Price is horrific. I had two single beds, ending up having to swap the mattresses then flipping them over. It's time they put some money into new ones. Simple breakfast most hotels include, very overpriced
Review 76:The hotel was very nice, clean and up to date.
Review 77:Breakfast was very expensive. No complementary coffee/tea making facilities in the bedroom. Very expensive private parking
Review 78:Clean, comfortable, quiet, easy access to old town and city centre, close to bus transport system.
Review 79:wifi very expensive, staff unfriendly, bedrooms outdated. bedrooms basic, tv channels poor, bed hard, no a/c or heating working.
Review 80:Nice lobby, good location, free transport ticket.
Review 81:Very very simple rooms, not nice at all. But clean. If you simply need a place where to sleep, its OK. Paid WiFi - 20CHF. Expensive and not nice breakfast. It is not 4star hotel, maximum 2z Staff quite rude sometimes.
Review 82:Good location. Normal price if you consider Geneva.
Review 83:Close to one of the main shopping streets in Geneva. Mountain views from top floors. Balcony. Nice lobby. Helpfull reception staff. Very reasonable for its price range.
Review 84:Thursday evening I had to wait almost 30 minutes to be served at reception as the receptionist was on her own and there was an uniterrupted flow of guests checking in. There should be 2 receptionists on the evening shift.
Review 85:Good location for Italian restaurants.
Review 86:Bathroom from 1970
Review 87:Location Luckily I paid only 50%, due to booking only 1 day before, but if I would have paid the whole amount, I would have complained about the bathroom. Also, it wasn't the bathroom that was shown on the pictures when booking.
Review 88:The street is quite noisy all night The WiFi was poor The TV, which I think depended on Internet, had glitches. The screen itself seemed a little "tired"
Review 89:The price I got at the last minute was good for central Geneva. Quite big room for a single.
Review 90:service is extremely poor. Extremely ill mannered for a hotel that is suppose to be a "four star hotel" do not order room service. Food is extremely greesy and portions are small for its price.
Review 91:location is amazing. Very close to jet d'eau
Review 92:If I had paid 50 Francs for a two star hotel, I would have been extremely happy with my stay. While there was nothing particularly wrong, I don't really think this hotel compares very favourably with other four star hotels I have stayed in. The room was very basic and tiny and looked like it hadn't been touched up since the 70s. Breakfast was so-so and internet had to be paid for (20 francs per stay, which seems outrageous even at Swiss standards). On the plus side, the staff was very friendly and it was clean.
Review 93:The location is really quite excellent.
Review 94:Not somewhere you should probably consider having dinner. But, no need really as there are many fantastic restaurants within an easy walk.
Review 95:Not my usual hotel for staying in Geneva, but the car show everything was booked. And glad that it was. The atmosphere of Hotel Century was like a home away from home, with all the comforts and none of the sterile pretensions of other hotel chains. Everything was clean and the staff were all wonderfully professional and genuinely warm. The location was excellent with very easy access to trams, buses, the lake the parc, restaurants, the old town was within 10 minutes walk and the best shopping in town on your doorstep. I would absolutely stay here again. Breakfast room was charming and the espressos were great.
Review 96:The hotel receptionist (J*** M****) was extremely rude, and the check-in at night took about 30 minutes because there was only one working at desk. The blanket is tied up with the mattress which makes the bed uncomfortable, you have to pay for the wifi, and there wasn't shampoo or other bath necessities.
Review 97:The location was good, especially if you want to travel more around the art galleries or quite modern part of the city instead of vieille ville.
Review 98:my room on the front side of the hotel near the main road was very noisy even on the 6th floor.
Review 99:excellent wifi, spacious room (for Geneva), very clean
Review 100:20CHF/ day for wifi access (Century hotel is not in the right "century" and it is supposed to be a 4 star hotel) Tiny bedroom and bathroom. Bed was not comfortable. Very noisy room even if the room was not located on the main street... 14 Tv channels with bad quality full of pixels and with loss of signal...
Review 101:The possibility of a late check out.
Review 102:Reception on arrival was cold and the attitude of the person who attended us when settling our bill left much to be desired.
Review 103:Once you passed the reception, the room was confortable and the coffee ok
Review 104:There was a 20cm gap between the end of the mattress and the headboard. The bathroom was extremely small and the shower cubicle poor. Wifi did not work the first night, nor did my telephone. Room service was very slow, cold on arrival without salt or pepper.
Review 105:The hotel lobby is nice.
Review 106:The bed is too small, the blanket is tiny to cover if I flip over. Big room but bed is too small
Review 107:Room is quite spacious, well structure, simple and clean
Review 108:- room smelled of drains (after searching around, the water had evaporated from the bidet U-bend and the drains smelled from there... ran the water a bit and it got much better, but had to air the room... Isn't this something the cleaning staff would notice?). - Wifi (CHF 20) was unusably slow. So had to use my mobile as a modem for work. - CHF 26 for breakfast. for that, I expected a wide choice of breakfast things. Instead, it was the basic typical swiss breakfast. Usually costs about half that. - For a room that would normally cost over CHF 450, a let-down. - Traffic noise at night (no double-glazing) even in 6th floor. Hard to sleep.
Review 109:- Staff was friendly and they did their best - Pretty good location. Walking distance to major banks. - Free public transport pass.
Review 110:Got a single room for a couple the first night with a very bad bed. After complain the next day have received a very nice room. The Wi-Fi is billed. As we had a problem with the room the first night got the Wi-Fi FOC but wasn't working very good
Review 111:The location is very good. Part of the staff is very helpful and solved the problem of the very poor room we had received at our arrival.
Review 112:Location - was a bit out of the way in the back streets Electricity was rarely working during stay which meant no hot water either Staff was only in main hotel and changed too often and didn't know what was going on half the time
Review 113:Relatively clean and good basic facilities
Review 114:The bed the fact that you have to pay internet I had to wait about 10 minutes standing in front of the man for check out while I was in a hurry he didn't care about me while he did back office work no question no communication.
Review 115:Location - the Hall is good people nice
Review 116:The price of the hotel a bit high reference to location. It would have been more convenient if a meal was included in the price.
Review 117:The location of the hotel is so convenient next to the train station. Comfortable beds, very clean and quiet.
Review 118:Single bedroom listed as "updated" but the only thing updated was the floors. Bathroom straight from the 60s and in disrepair. Single pane windows with dirty old drawstring to close the blinds, I almost didn't want to touch it but thought it would at least block some outside noise. You can hear everything from footstops to sirens. Don't waste your money for an old shabby room.
Review 119:Breakfast service persons are not very helpful or friendly
Review 120:The location was excellent, easy to walk to the lake. Access to public transport is excellent. The front office desk were great
Review 121:No safe in room. Has the ability to have in room small kettle and tea/coffee provision but didn't have so.
Review 122:Quiet, even though in a busy part of city with great access to everything within walking distance
Review 123:The husekeeping team were very rude, and not punctual. They were outrightly aggressive when i asked them to clean my room at a certain time, and even asked me to leave the room when they wanted to clean it. they did the basic stuff, and i could see that they did everything in a big hurry. This was one aspect of the hotel that i did not appreciate AT ALL. My minibar was not replenished daily. The shower temperature would fluctuate dangerously between very hot and cold water.
Review 124:Certain staff at the reception were very helpful.
Review 125:The staff were rude with no patience, the room smelled and had a broken bed. They then moved us to another room to be woken up at in the morning by building works and drilling simple awful I want my money back !
Review 126:I didn't like anything the bed was broken
Review 127:- shower changes temperature by itself - got a noise room, despite asking for a quite one - my colleague did't asked and got a nice one - takes quite long to get a drink due to bad organization - windows don't close well - nearly only pay tv - no hear dryer
Review 128:- Staff was polite
Review 129:No free tea and coffee in the room, two single beds pushed together does not make a double bed.
Review 130:Clean tidy gave good help when we needed directions plus the free travel card was great.
Review 131:Would be nice if breakfast was included in the price!
Review 132:Great room with everything you would need. I slept so well here! Great location for the city centre.
Review 133:hotel needs money spent on it, rooms are very tired and need updating and upgrading. TV is tiny old box set with limited channels, wifi is very weak and keeps dropping
Review 134:location, staff
Review 135:Reception staff were unwelcoming and bordering on rude. I had to pay 20francs extra for Wi-if and the breakfast was ridiculously overpriced. No hair dryer or tea making facilities. The aircon wasn't working and the cleaners knocked on the door to come and clean the room at 8:30am. While normally I'm an early riser - on holiday I like a lie in and was woken up each day by the cleaners - despite my telling them to come later. I stayed in a couple of hotels in Geneva and this was by far the worst.
Review 136:Spacious room
Review 137:The rooms smelt fusty. There was no hanging facility at all in ourdouble room. The lighting was dingy. There was no facility to make a hotdrink. The charge for WiFi was chf 10
Review 138:The location is very good and the lobby area is very nice.
Review 139:they reserved money on my credit card 4 times more then it is needed...
