Reviews for Motel au Vieux Piloteux

Review 1:Expensive for a motel. Taxes not included. Noisy fridge, noisy neighbors, and people above were thumping around like crazy people. WiFi password didn't work.

Review 2:Convenience

Review 3:Kind of off the beaten path and a little tricky to find. Also would be nice to have a simple continental breakfast (muffins, fruit).

Review 4:Clean, quiet, and comfortable. Courteous staff. If you don't speak any French at all, you may get frustrated.

Review 5:The motel and office were immaculate. The owner was very congenial and was eager to assist us in any way he could. There is a good view of the river from the front window.

Review 6:There was that sickly sweet smell used to cover other odours. The room was very stuffy.

Review 7:The room was easily accessible to the street and car. It was comfortable and spacious.

Review 8:Owner spoke English, was friendly and helpful. Our room was well renovated and clean. Nice laminate floors. Modern furniture. Granite counter in the bathroom. Lots of small details that made it feel like home (decoration pillows, weight scale and liquid soap in bathroom, DVD blue ray player with good size TV, modern coffee maker, nice little fridge and so on... ) Bed was comfortable with 4 pillows not counting decor ones. We've spent 10 days traveling Eastern Canada and stayed in many hotels for similar price, this was by far the best one. Probably better than some 4 star hotels we've stayed in. Would highly recommend.

Review 9:No clock and no hairdryer.

Review 10:Very neat and clean and pretty motel. Beds were comfortable and pillows were very good. Because this an older-style motel the rooms are a bit smaller than what you would find in say a Comfort Inn so therefore the vanity is small and there is no space for a table and chairs, but nevertheless it is a pleasant place to stay.

Review 11:Overall, it was good but we had a bit of trouble using the wifi.

Review 12:It was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. For those who do not speak French, they have English speaking staff!

Review 13:This was my third stay here over 8 years and the staff have always been very friendly and easy to deal with! The location is great with clean rooms, comfy beds and the Wifi worked great!

Review 14:Continental breakfast would have been nice but it's not a very big place so there is no where to set up for the breakfast.

Review 15:Friendly staff, very clean rooms heated pool.

Review 16:The free wifi initially wouldn't connect but the hotel manager let us connect to his own router, so that was nice.

Review 17:Manger was very friendly and solved the internet connection problem promptly. Nice location with lots of amenities near by. Really liked the idea of two small beds instead of just one double.

Review 18:The first night we had a good bed but on our return trip the mattress should have been replaced long ago.

Review 19:Riviere du Loup has some very nice walking trails to get your legs stretched out after a day of driving.

Review 20:There was an odour in the room, like a paint smell, when we first entered but we opened a window for a while and it seemed to go away.

Review 21:Very clean Bed was extremely comfortable Good location

Review 22:This motel is very clean and in a great location just off the TransCanada Hwy. It is close to downtown. The staff is friendly and I will definitely stay there again.

Review 23:Not much that I can think of. Towels are of lighter weight, but not a problem for the price point.

Review 24:This room, particularly the bathroom, was spotless. I've NEVER seen such a clean one, and I travel twice a month for work. I would MOST definitely stay here if in the area again. Staff recommended a restaurant where we had a fabulous fondue meal. One of the best evenings of our trip.

Review 25:The room was fine but just a tad on the small size by comparison with many motels but was quite adequate.

Review 26:We appreciated how clean this room was. My wife commented several times on the cleanliness!

Review 27:Not too much negative. Room was a little small but if travelling solo or just passing through as a couple it'd be perfect. I had a toddler and a bit more room for him to play would have been nice. A microwave in the room would also have been a nice addition.

Review 28:Everything was great. Wi-Fi and and very central to commercial district of Riv-du-Loup.

Review 29:... the rooms were tastefully appointed and pristine. ... and the location was just perfect as we were travelling to Prince Edward Island from Whitby, Ontario. ... such a pleasant stay ... just the ticket!

Review 30:Front desk employee appeared tired upon our arrival ( around 9:00pm) and not prepared to talk too much...certainly not as friendly as previous reviews indicated...

Review 31:The place is quiet...obviously occupied by workers who go to bed early. Nice parking lot...beautiful spot to sit outside during the summer evening and have a good look at the ocean...motel remote from the street, hence quiet yet convenient. nearby restaurant good for breakfast.

Review 32:It's on a business street, lots of motels, restaurants, offices, etc ... No clear view of the river. Too much city like.

Review 33:We had a good time. Motel was not too expansive, clean, good equipment. The pool was warmer than the air :p

Review 34:The towels seemed a bit old and not soft enough on the skin. The view is not the best of Rivière-du-Loup, there was a warehouse on the other side of the road, in front of our porch, hiding parts of the fleuve.

Review 35:You could tell it was a clean room, it smelt fresh when we openned the door. Lots of towels. You have a little porch with baskets of flowers in front of the room, it was cozy. The manager was helpful. We only stayed for one night and for a "on the road" motel, it was a good value.

Review 36:This motel doesn't have a restaurant. We had to drive to find one. It would be nice to have a brochure of nearby restaurants. We booked double beds, and I asked him if we could have a queen and was charged $10.00 more. Not sure why this happened. Oh and 2 adults in a room and only 2 towels. I like an extra towel for my hair, that would of been nice.

Review 37:The bed was very comfortable, and the place was very clean.

Review 38:The Keurig coffee machine produced a rather weak coffee, without much taste. A pity for such a great name!

Review 39:The owner sent us to a wonderful Breakfast place, l'Hotentik!

Review 40:The queen size bed had what appeared to be an old mattress that was hard and lumpy. The springs could be felt in your back.

Review 41:the room and facilities were nice and clean.

Review 42:I had made a reservation with booking.com for a room with two double beds, at least that is what I thought. When I entered the motel's offices, the owner told me that I had ordered a room with a single bed which he was not willing to rent to me, and he basically forced me to pay an additional $10 for a room with two beds. He was very unfriendly and unbending, very intent on keeping the upper hand. The room in back of the house was very stuffy and had the strong smell of air-freshener. The air condition is very old and noisy.

Review 43:The rooms were clean. They included toiletries and a hair dryer, as well as a Keurig coffee maker and a fridge.

Review 44:Despite the do not disturb sign, someone knocked loudly at 9:00 and again at 9:30. Can't be certain but guy in room next door said it was housekeeping.

Review 45:Friendly front desk. Close to Trans Canada highway. Right on the seaway. Ceiling fan and good A/C unit.

Review 46:Everything was fine. One slight problem was that the heat being repulsed by the air conditioner made it extra hot when sitting outside the room. But it is foolish to complain about too much heat in Quebec.

Review 47:I arrived by bus from Perce, the motel is very close to the Orleans bus terminal (a 10 minute walk). There is a grocery store (IGA) and a liquor store (SAQ) within two blocks of the motel and a restaurant (for breakfast) right beside the motel. The room had everything I needed (comfortable bed, good black out curtains and a small fridge) and it was quiet. There is a heated outdoor pool which I didn't use. Most guest seemed to be passing through Riviere du Loup but I stayed two days. The first day I walked up the hill to the real town ( I headed for the pretty church up on the hill). The second day I walked to the ferry terminal which is 6 kilometers from the motel (there is a walking path along the river for the last kilometer or two). Both were pleasant days.

Review 48:No breakfast offered

Review 50:clean, comfortable room, great view, nice staff
