Reviews for Auberge de L'Anse

Review 1:No air conditioning. Requires better maintenance. No door knob on bathroom.

Review 2:Beautiful view of St. Lawrence River from room. Quiet rural location, but close to amenities.

Review 3:Our first night we were in a double bed Not very big for my husband who is a tall man. We had a larger room with a better view but it was more $$ it was worth it

Review 4:Claudette the owner was really nice I felt like if I knew here for so many years

Review 5:The stay was OK, however I needed to hit the road early which was difficult. Finally, after ringing the door bell 8 times, she answered the door very frustrated with me. I paid and vowed never to return. This was at 7am.

Review 6:When we checked in the young lady could not spesk English. We asked for enjoying rooms and they had split up one up stairs.

Review 7:We liked the view.and they hsve a nice breakfast.

Review 8:French speaking owner made no effort to communicate, quite rude really, the room and furniture were very basic.

Review 9:View of the river was terrific, motel was nice to look at.

Review 10:Very dated. Railing on second floor balcony definitely not safe. Patio furniture old and sun brittle.

Review 11:View and each room had a breath taking view. Rooms very spacious. Price was reasonable.

Review 12:As soon ad I checked in and spoke English you cud see the lady''s back go up. She put us in an awkward spot for dinner and as soon as we spoke everyone turned and looked at us. There was no air conditioning. When we checked out she could suddenly speak English.

Review 13:The view of the St. Lawrence was great

Review 14:Mrs Claudette seemed upset that we had chosen booking.com to reserve. It did not get better The bathroom had one sops bar and had very small towels. We paid $5 each for breakfast and when we did not know how to say scrambled eggs in French she seemed perturbed she told us what they were called and proceeded to serve me a fried egg. I pointed if out yo her and she then brought me a fried egg chopped up I did not eat it

Review 15:Room was clean and in a very nice location with a great view

Review 16:We missed dinner; it was their night off. But we got a recommendation where we could pick up a lobster, bought some bubbly, and had a wonderful dinner of our own on the deck fronting the ocean view. Claudette provided the plates and wine glasses.

Review 17:Great great view and the feeling of being cliffside overlooking the St. Lawrence. Loved watching for beluga whales. Clean basic rooms, great shower. The long secluded beach 300-400 feet below was so peaceful. Breakfast was simple but all we needed. The French Canadian style crepe was really good. We even liked hearing the cows mooing in the morning after we woke up.

Review 18:Room very clean, not luxurious but comfortable, nice location with view of the water.Owner very helpful and pleasant.

Review 19:Staff. Lack of effort to communicate.

Review 20:Location, view.

Review 21:Fabulous view!

Review 22:each room has access to a back balcony and the view is stunning, especially at sunset.

Review 23:Loved the view. A working farm across the road but was still nice and quiet. Breakfast was delicious!

Review 24:The proprietor is welcoming and wonderful. The view from the balcony is truly fantastic, to sit and enjoy the St. Lawrence is a real treat.

Review 25:Location

Review 26:No clock in room, no a/c, and no phone in room.

Review 27:Romantic setting, very beautiful view of the sunset, nice little hide away.

Review 28:Language barrier between French and English as we spoke English.

Review 29:View

Review 30:No coffee available before 8AM- I am early riser 0530 so had a nice view but no coffee to enjoy

Review 31:Great view

Review 32:The staff worked to accommodate us.

Review 33:The view

Review 34:I was disappointed, in the room, it was NOT like the pic in the book. Not even a radio in the room.We had to ask for our towels. Two lights in the room and one wouldn't work.

Review 35:The view was amazing, the bed was comfortable. That was all it had going for it.

Review 36:totally no frills - like a cottage - paper bath mat, no clock or radio, no wifi. uncomfortable vintage couch and chairs

Review 37:amazing view of the St Lawrence River and the sunset. clean, comfy beds. quiet location, delicious menu for b'fast or dinner. Close to other attractions such as park/beach along St Lawrence

Review 38:Small room, small bath room. It is an economy motel, we stayed for onenight on the way home. Breakfast normally served at 8 am, we receivedours at 7:30 am.

Review 39:Excellent view over the St. Laurence river. Nice deck right outside theroom. Nice breakfast of toast, eggs, orange juice and coffee for $5 plustax and tip.

Review 40:The aroma in the room was a little over powering.

Review 41:The view from the terrace is worth every penny; sitting having dinner overlooking the St. Lawrence with Charlevoix in the distance is wonderful.

Review 42:As Anglophones, we try to greet our hosts in French when in Quebec. Clearly, this small gesture was appreciated as the staff and we enjoyed sharpening our cross-language skills with patience and humour. We felt warmly welcomed. The view of the Gulf of St. Lawrence was fabulous. Breakfast was a splendid value. The motel may be modest by today's standards but we recommend it highly nonetheless!

Review 43:Being an english speaking traveller made it a bit more difficult.

Review 44:The view of the St. Lawrence was fabulous. It was nice to park and beable to get both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. I would suggest thatyou get the dinner and breakfast package if you are staying one night.

Review 45:Bathroom needs renovation, including installation of new window with burglar proof locks and screen etc for ventilation. Very strong room air freshener on arriving. Pillows need replacing. TV was very small and very old. Cable service was fairly limited---not many English stations. Curtains and bedspread need to be replaced---curtains are very frayed and bedspread is very worn out. We took it off the bed and did not use it. At reception, we had to wait while manager answered 2 phone calls that involved lengthy conversations. At least the second caller should have been put on hold.

Review 46:View of the St Lawrence River from unit's patio style back door/window. The unit was very clean.

Review 47:No phones. Doors had simple passage locks, offering no real security.Very limited desk service hours. The office was closed by the time wereturned from supper. We had to wake the manager-owner-proprietor at5:30 A.M. to pay and depart, which I regreted doing, but was necessaryfor us to keep on our schedule. She spoke little English and we spokelittle French, making communication quite difficult.

Review 48:Older facility with only the basics, not even a phone in the room, andno air conditioning, but good heater which we did need at night. Moreremote that we thought, about 2 miles from the town center; but the viewof the Saint Lawrence was well worth the stay. It was breathtaking. Thewoman managing the place spoke minimal English and we spoke minimalFrench, causing both of us some difficulties.

Review 49:location, friendly staff, comfort

Review 50:The bathtub was too small and had no safety bar on the wall.

Review 51:The view would have been spectacular if weather had cooperated.

Review 52:Lack of signage to find it.

Review 53:The water side location. Friendly proprietor.
