Reviews for Park Hotel Calama
Review 1:Could more clean. especially in the bathroom and pool area.
Review 2:Big breakfast buffet. Lunch and Dinner are offered a la card and also as buffet - with additional charges
Review 3:They need to have an airport shuttle - so close - 3 mins - but the taxi costs as much as going right into town $ 15.00 . And although it is so close - walking is not an option due to traffic and no sidewalk.
Review 4:good food at their restaurant
Review 5:I found it incredibly bizarre to be told to run the water for 20 to 30 minutes to get it hot ! You would think it the desert, in 2015 they would figure out how not to waste so much water by putting in another closer water heating system for the rooms.
Review 6:pleasant staff, nice restaurant
Review 7:It took the reception lady 25 minutes to check out one guest. Training needed urgently. Thank god I was in line with hear colleague who checked me out in 3 minutes.
Review 8:Almost everything.
Review 9:Welcome drink restricted to pisco or mango sour and no non-alcoholic option is available. At 4am we were woken by a very loud tv in the adjoining room and when we tried to call reception, the phone did not work. The walls are thick, but there are internal doors between rooms which allow noise to pass easily from one room to the other.
Review 10:The room was large and clean, and the bathroom was very well laid out. Dinner in the restaurant was quite good.
Review 11:The location near the airport was excellent. The food here was really good! The buffet for all 3 meals was excellent and had a great choice. The hotel had a really nice feel to it, it was really smart, and was very good value. The staff were also really good here.
Review 12:No heating / air conditioning in my room - considering that Calama gets very hot during daytime and cold during the night. The room numbering scheme doesn´t make sense (I had room 504 which was on the 3rd floor - weird). The distribution of rooms is mazy and makes rooms difficult to find / reach.
Review 13:There are many open workspaces where you can meet interesting people on business and make good contacts. Great location just outside of the city and very close to the airport - puts all mining operations within easy reach and helps you avoid nasty city traffic in Calama.
Review 14:The rooms are laid out around a central pool area, and I had to lift a heavy suitcase down some stairs in order to get to my room. It wasn't a problem for me but might be for more elderly guests or people with mobility issues. A business center with computers/printers for guests would be a good addition.
Review 15:The hotel was clean and comfortable but showed some noticeable wear in common areas (stains and tears in carpets for example). Breakfast buffet, included in the price, was ample and tasty and offered eggs cooked to order as well. There was no business center with computers/printers for guests, but the young man at reception was happy to let me use the other computer at the front desk to print my boarding passes for my flights.
Review 16:Rooms are relatively small. Upon check-in we had to ask for every single piece of information and the receptionist seemed slightly annoyed to have to deal with customers. For example, we had to go back there to ask for a lock for the safe. When we went for breakfast in the morning, although the staff was already there nobody cared to check if we needed anything. The "omelette station" was all set-up, but here was nobody who would have prepared something for us.
Review 17:The hotel has everything you might need for a short stay. The breakfast buffet offers lots of options. We can highly recommend the restaurant for dinner (the buffet is excellent) and staff and service at the bar are really good. Finally, the hotel is conveniently located at about 10 min from the airport, but not noisy.
Review 18:I flew in from England and was attending a conference in San Pedro the next day. I booked late, and there was an offer, so I paid about 50% of the normal rate. For this money, and to sleep in relative luxury, with a great breakfast, it was totally worth it. Very close to airport, didn't try to go to town. Best nights sleep after 30 hours travelling!!
Review 19:It's far from the center (3000-4000 chil. pesos by taxi). But this doesn't matter, cause once you're there, you don't want to leave the hotel anyway:-)
Review 20:Friendly staff, clean and well appointed room. Very good buffet breakfast included. Free, secure parking. 5 minutes from the airport. out of the busy town center.
Review 21:We initially were a bit sceptical because of a few negative comments about the hotel we found on the Web. Never the less we thought we might give it a try because we only booked one night and the price was very good. In short: the hote is absolutely ok. A bit old but well maintained and very clean. The staff was very nice and we had everything we needed for this short stop. Calama has not much for the general tourist to see (but that's no fault of the hotel) I would always recommend the hotel when you are in the region.
Review 22:Wi fi reception terrible The hall carpets tattered No ramp inside for easy luggage movement
Review 23:The dining room staff were excellent. The location Dinner and breakfast buffets
Review 24:If you want to see town, don't stay here. This is a business hotel for local businessmen and conferences. Difficult to order food in English. Staff entered our room unannounced while we were in bed.
Review 25:2 mins from airport and domestic check in only 1 hour before. Some check in staff are very helpful with excellent English.
Review 26:The twin rooms are small. At night someone was burning garbage in the town and the smell was horrendous in the room. We couldn't breathe. Luckily, the front desk clerk moved us to a room on the 6th floor that was a lot nicer and had a window that didn't let in the smell.
Review 27:There was no hear dryer in the bathroom Breakfast was not as good as we had expected from dinner the night before (e.g. little fruit)
Review 28:Good dinner buffet Helpful staff Little worn down but classy room with everything you need Good value for money
Review 29:A bit small room if you bring a baby and a lot of stuff.
Review 30:Modern hotel with nice rooms and very good facilities. Very good restaurant and excellent breakfast. Helpful staff.
Review 31:Near airport, but expensive in a taxi. Rather deserted. Nasty film on swimming pool so didn't feel we could use it. Sauna closed up.
Review 32:Food good but expensive. Good place to relax after a long flight and regroup before heading to San Pedro.
Review 33:Room was little bit outdated Not possible to lock the safe (you also need a special lock that is available at the reception) Generally would expect more from a 5* hotel
Review 34:Near the airport, good for one night stay before heading to the desert or catching the plane. You can get good deals if staying over the weekend
Review 35:The dead birds, which had flown into the hotel windows, & weren't cleared up while we were staying there. The price of the drinks, in comparison to elsewhere in Chile. The location isn't scenic & far from city centre but convenient for airport, although not really within walking distance & taxis charge a premium, knowing you're doing a hotel-airport shuttle run.
Review 36:Professional staff, especially considering its provincial location. Comfortable bedroom & bathroom. Large, reasonably attractive public areas that could do with a bit of a spruce up. Good dinner & breakfast buffets. Overall, a comfortable & pleasant hotel to spend a bit of time in but not the best value for money in Chile.
Review 37:This hotel is very far from the city centre (but close yet still not walking distance to the airport), expect a taxi ride to cost 5000 CLP. My main problem is that when we asked for a taxi service to the airport they called in a private car which cost 6000 CLP for a 5 min ride and the money was requested to be given out of the sight of police patrolling the airport.
Review 38:The hotel had good facilities. The staff were very efficient and the room was clean and comfortable. There were welcome drinks on arrival.
Review 39:I thought it would make sense to spend the night in Calama rather than in San Pedro de Atacama given that I had an early morning flight. The hotel is located very close to the airport. However, the taxi charges 12$ for a 4-5 minute drive, while you will pay 20$ for a transfer between San Pedro de Atacama and Calama airport (about 1 hour and 15 min drive)... Also, buffet dinner cost about 40$ and even à la carte prices are a bit high.
Review 40:Wi-fi connection is good.
Review 41:Checkout is slow.
Review 42:We didn't stay the night we checked out 10min after we arrived
Review 43:Nothing
Review 44:Pigeon poop around pool
Review 45:Poor transfer to airport. No computer, tv. Expensive
Review 46:- rooms need some refreshment
Review 47:- Best wifi in South America so far - Great breakfast
Review 48:there is no aircondioon in the room the food price is high
Review 49:the food was good and the room was nice
Review 50:When checking in no one at the reception, when checking out there were other 2 customers before me. Need more staff at the reception
Review 51:Huge Breakfast
Review 52:shower water hardly hot though was told to leave the tap runs for few minutes. No long bath and iron.
Review 53:Having to carry all our luggage to our room Being treated like an idiot by reception
Review 54:The soup
Review 55:Breakfast, bed, cleanliness, wifi
Review 56:Superb breakfast. Good hotel facilities. 5min drive to airport.
Review 57:prefer blankets instead of duvees
Review 58:very helpful staff; quiet room
Review 59:Clean, comfortable, friendly and efficient staff and good restaurant.
Review 60:Staff in restaurant Freshness of oysters was very questionable
Review 61:Staff at reception
Review 62:Staff, facilities
Review 63:Camas muy chicas
Review 64:La tranquilidad y limpieza
Review 65:Helpful staff, close to the airport.
Review 66:The staff were really helpful and friendly, the room was excellent and the breakfast was the best I had in Chile.
Review 67:Location far from city centre, bus depot, and Chiquimati mine tour cepot.
Review 68:Place and food were excellent. Location was good for us, near airport.
Review 69:Welcome pisco sour, quiet and warm
Review 70:bathroom was not too nice room was small price is not equal to what you get
Review 71:very close to the airport quiet nice staff
Review 72:Wifi was terrible. Also had to take a cold shower after waiting 45 minutes for hot water. For the price not worth it.
Review 73:The room and bed was clean and comfortable.
Review 74:Typical business hotel close to airport. Stay far off the hectic in the town center of CALAMA, save from the dealer crowds and the dog dirt. PARK offers sometimes reasonable discounts on the Internet booking sites, when not fully booked. Check before spend higher rack rates oriented on business travel clientele.
Review 75:I wish that we had known that we should have reserved online our own tour of the nearby open pit copper mine at Chuquicamata. The staff called but the free daily tour for the next morning was already booked.
Review 76:We enjoyed the high quality of this hotel, the large comfortable room with spacious bathroom and the artwork that adorned the common areas. It was possible to order eggs cooked to order as part of breakfast and this was a nice treat. This hotel is conveniently located close to the airport.
Review 77:We booked two nights before flying south. After checking out the hotel's webpage, we looked forward to a relaxing time but we were very disappointed. They didn't get our booking through booking.com. The first room we were given had the safety deposit box sitting on the floor instead of being fixed on the wall. Additionally, the bathroom floor was dirty. In the second room, the bathroom floor was dirty as well. The water in the shower takes 10 minutes to get warm. Ordering from the menu seems to be too complicated as we didn't get what we ordered, the buffet option seems to be more easy (though expensive for the choice and quality). Also, the two main dishes of the buffet option to choose from did not change in the two days. After asking for two bottles of still water for the minibar we were given two with gas. The reason was appearantly that they were out of still water (after complaining, still water could be found somewhere...) There is no waste basket in the room. It is an accumulation of small things that that didn't work which made the stay at this hotel disappointing. It is not at all what they promise to be on the webpage, and not worth the price. We expect trained employees and a management that controls their work for a hotel of this class. It is tiresome to run and complain about everything.
Review 78:Close to the airport
Review 79:- The pictures on the website made us think that the hotel is a way better than it is. In fact, common areas are nice, but the rooms lack the same quality. - The check-in process was terrible: the card reader on our door was not working but the receptionist kept insisting (as if we were donkeys) that we were probably not inserting the card correctly. Even so, she gave us new cards at each try and only at fourth time someone from the staff came to our room to "teach us how to insert a card". He got to the conclusion that the problem was on the reader, of course, and after more than 30 minutes they gave us another room. And I could not hear the word "sorry". - At breakfast, there was not a single table with a clean tablecloth, as all of them had several spots on. Also the breakfast was very below the average considering the classification of the hotel. - We asked some information about the schedule and prices of public buses to San Pedro. All the information they gave us at the reception was completely wrong. They just do not care. They even called us a taxi (of a friend) that was overpriced.
Review 80:The wellcome dring
Review 81:The facilities of the bathroom are old, the food is too expensive, the Internet never works and is a business hotel so it's important that work fine. After I did the check out they charged me again my credit card like a "no show", after fill a complaint they don't refund the money so I have to complaint with the authorities to receive the refund. I really not recommend it.
Review 82:The room size, the pool. El tamaño de las habitaciones y la piscina
Review 83:There is a lack of staff at front desk in the morning and we waited for 20min+ to finish check out!
Review 84:It is very near calama airport and given that we stayed there for a night before heading to San Pedro de atacama and arrived at 10pm, the location best fit our needs.
Review 85:At the reception, the knowledge of English is very limited. The hotel is situated close to a railway line.
Review 86:The rooms are very big and clean. Although Calama is not an interesting town to visit, the hotel is situated close to the airport and has good access to towns in the region. The breakfast is very extensive. You get the feeling you are in a 5 star hotel, for the price of a 3 star hotel.
Review 87:I don't know where it went wrong, but they could not find our Booking.com reservation and was going to charge us $130 instead of the booked rate of $100. I had to turn on my laptop and show them the Booking.com confirmation. Also, not sure who is at fault, but the taxi we ordered with the front desk the night before, showed up 25 min late and we almost missed our bus to Salta, Argentina (we got there 2 mins after the bus' scheduled departure time). But to be fair, the lady at the front desk called the taxi company every few minutes wondering when they would turn up.
Review 88:Hotel is close to the airport and freeway. Our room was in the newer wing of the hotel. Room was very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. Shower had good pressure. Breakfast was better than average. This is probably the best hotel we have stayed in Chile and we have stayed at SPG properties in Santiago and Villarica.
Review 89:Next to Calama airport, great comfortable rooms. Something I very much needed after 5 days in Bolivia
Review 90:Really good breakfast.
Review 91:Too far from Calama. Definitely a business or tour bus hotel.
Review 92:Clean & close to the airport.
Review 93:Price and location. It is close to the city airport
Review 94:trip to San Pedro daily but worth it to stay here.
Review 95:great staff and do unbelievable things with the place!
Review 96:The bathrooms need renovations.
Review 97:The beds were great. The breakfast was good and it was close toCalama airport.
