Reviews for Inn on Long Lake

Review 1:Did not take away from my overall comfort but did note plumbing could be up dated. It was noisy.

Review 2:Beds were comfortable with large soft pillows. Lots of floor space in room and on balcony. Great view of lake and property and some bird watching for my husband.

Review 3:Had some difficulties in controlling the heat but eventually figured it out.

Review 4:I have actually told several people how awesome our stay was at your facility. It was quiet and view very enjoyable, clean, the hottub fantastic, the staff was exceptional, continental breakfast good, you even allowed our dog - the staff are very animal friendly!! eventhough we had intended on leaving her in the kennel in our truck. We arrived a little early for check in as was there for a ball tournament (yes in the pouring rain) and they got us our room right away. It really was a great experience and I would recommend (and have) as I had never been there before.

Review 5:We stayed a night here on the way to Tofino. Staff were very friendly and it had a lovely view of the lake. Could have stayed here for a week just relaxing.

Review 6:Excellent view of Long Lake from comfortable and clean second floor room. Breakfast was very good with varied choices. Front desk service was very friendly and helpful.

Review 7:No walking path around the edge of the lake close to the Inn.

Review 8:Close to shops, restaurants and the ferry. Beside a beautiful lake. Well located to visit other spots in centre Vancouver Island.

Review 9:The facilities are adequate and good. The staff at the reception were friendly and helpful. Breakfast good too. We rented a "water bike" and toured the Long Lake, which was a lot of fun. People can also swim in the lake. Nearby is a very good Japanese restaurant called Dami Sushi.

Review 10:Nothing

Review 11:Although more like a motel than hotel, this was a great find and our room had a lake view which was stunning in the morning (see photo). The staff were really helpful lending us plates for our tea. on our whirlwind tour of BC this was a excellent find.

Review 12:Didn't like the staff smoking just under the balcony. Also for a smoke free room I was surprised to see an ashtray out on the balcony. Smoke free should be smoke free.

Review 13:The room we were assigned looked clean at first, but when I overturned one of the pillows, I noticed it had makeup and strong smelling perfume on it. The bed had been remade without fresh sheets. The bathroom floor had not been mopped. It had dried-up brownish liquid. They promptly assigned us to a different room, which I checked out thoroughly. It was fine. If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke this place won't be for you. There is no smoking in the rooms, but ashtrays are provided on the balconies.

Review 14:We enjoyed renting paddle boards and kayaks and exploring the lake. The beds were comfortable.

Review 15:The rooms are due for significant renovation, in particular the beds verge on uncomfortable, and the location directly beside the old highway make it quite noisy at times.

Review 16:The lake in front makes for a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere and the breakfast is very good.

Review 17:Need more benches outside and umbrellas etc so you can enjoy the lake. More lake frontage would be nice

Review 18:The view was great. The breakfast was good as well

Review 19:1.The hotel was let down by the very cramped breakfast room - too small for the size of the hotel. Choice of food good but positioned in the corner. 2. For us, visiting family, the location was a bit too far out of town, though the position on the lake was excellent.

Review 20:Staff attentive and helpful. The wifi signal in our room was very intermittent and the problem was sorted straight away. A complimentary newspaper was delivered to our bedroom after it must have been noted that we read the one in the lobby.

Review 21:The breakfast area and food choice needs a re-think. Getting breakfast was very challenging due to the way things are set up, causes major traffic jam. Also breakfast options/fruit, etc., is very limited.

Review 22:Very nice view, rooms were comfortable and clean, staff friendly/helpful

Review 23:Might want to add another kettle to your supply. One was not available. Not a big deal, but you asked!

Review 24:Room was great. Muffins were delicious. Staff very helpful and gave good recommendations of places to visit.

Review 25:comfort, cleanliness and convenient travel time to businesses in Nanaimo - also loved the fantastic view of the lake from my 3rd floor room. Wondered if you would consider and area for swimming instead of driving to the other side of the lake for beach access.

Review 26:our room is on the ground floor, from the parking in front of the room, we have to go through gravel and thick brush and up a concrete bump and sidewalk, it's not easy pulling luggage through, especially at night, i almost trip by the bump while walking to the car through the bush.family

Review 27:the location

Review 28:Between the noise from the fridge and the bathroom fan it sounded like a train was coming into the room several times a night. Tile falling off in bathroom between tub and toilet. Repairs needed....

Review 29:Balconies to sit on and enjoy the scenery Staff very friendly; shopping close with easy access

Review 30:A chilly walk from the gazebo in winter.

Review 31:We were all set to stay downtown with a harbour view and decided at the last minute to opt for the lake view because of the free breakfast and kitchen facilities. A great decision! Easy to access shopping, both highways, and a perfect hot tub view of the sunset on the lake at the end of the day. Great breakfast. Loved the waffle maker.

Review 32:The hotel itself, the room, the staff, the location - we all excellent - and they are very kind to those of us who travel with pets. An excellent choice for a place to stay in Nanaimo.

Review 33:The young lady who checked us in lacked warmth and friendliness. I did not like going outside again to get into my room

Review 34:I liked the location and the view from the bedroom. The space was good and the bathroom was spotless.

Review 35:Do not get the room I reserved and was not informed of such which was very inconvenient since I am traveling with a baby. The worst part though was that the solution I was offered by a very rude staffer was that they were "happy to cancel my reservation". That was her solution as I stood there with my crying baby and all my bags. Then she turned her back to me assuming I would do just that. Obviously I had no other choice at that point. Not helpful. Insensitive. Very disappointed the last 3 times I have stayed there. I was also awoken at 12:30 am by kids running back and forth and bouncing on the bed shaking the walls. This continued for 2 hours. No one went to speak to them or ask them to quiet down. So we were very tired the next day. I visit nanaimo often and this will probably be my last time at long lake. Rooms aren't cleaned well enough. I had a dirty toilet seat upon arrival. Yuck!

Review 36:The view, the free breakfast.

Review 37:My wife and I stayed thurs-sat. All staff (front office to cleaning to maintenance) were extremely friendly, helpful, and just wonderful. Everyone had a smile and hello! Would stay here again and again! The room wAs clean and everything we needed. The only complaint (and not that big a deal) was the shower heads were a little low (find that with many hotels) and the coffee selection in room was a little skimpy. Would we stay again? Absolutely! Great place to stay!

Review 38:We could really hear the noise of people passing by our room and getting ready early in the morning to leave (5am). Not a very sound proof facility. The outside floor is very noisy when luggage is rolled on it.

Review 39:The bed was comfortable

Review 40:Beig otside to go to our room on the highway end of the building. Breakfst room is tiny and so it was crowded..hard to move around.

Review 41:Beds were great Shower was good Coffee maker and coffee in the room was great.

Review 42:Really nice place. We got a room with a great view of the lake, so we woke up to a beautiful view of the sunrise over the lake. Staff was super friendly.

Review 43:The room was OLD and beat up - looked like it had been used and abused. Knicks and marks on bathroom door - some repairs in bathroom - too many young party folk in there before us. Looked like your mtce. man could use some lessons on doing a good job. These repairs were done 'in a hurry' - not very professional looking. The over-all ambiance is 'tired & old'. Although the bed was 'clean' - (I think) - the sheets were rumpled so as not to be sure if they had been replaced - or NOT??? We moved to the second bed but it was not much tidier upon inspection. Kitchenette could have offered a few cookies for those 'on the run'.

Review 44:Room view was nice, however, we live in Campbell River and our place is ocean side - we watch cruiseships go by us all Season long. Ours is a VERY difficult view to beat! Not being rude, but your view does NOT compare with ours - we're spoiled.

Review 45:The room we stayed in had a musty cigarette smoke odour.

Review 46:Loved the location. Clean rooms with a beautiful view of the lake. The staff were helpful and kind. Breakfast was included. The hotel is pet friendly!

Review 47:We were a little disappointed in the complimentary breakfast this time, though. Maybe it is time to add some more options.

Review 48:We have stayed at the Inn on several occasions. We are always very happy with the cleanliness of the accommodations. The staff is great. Love watching the sun come up in the morning over the lake.

Review 49:Nothing.

Review 50:Location on a lake with all rooms having a view. Very good fittings and facilities in the room. Only 10 minutes drive from Nanaimo centre and the harbour walk so brilliant for the ferry services too. Staff are all very polite and attentive without being too intrusive.

Review 51:Breakfast room very small for numbers it was catering for.

Review 52:Fresh fruit at reception spacious room on ground floor so doors opened out directly onto seated area overlooking lake. Had a try at the kayaks which was good fun and very reasonable.

Review 53:Kitchen facilities didn't work (and clearly not been checked); quality and choice of snacks & coffee, etc very limited; Receptionist upon arrival at 9pm particularly unwelcoming.

Review 54:Efficient for travellers taking the ferry; Nice view of the lake

Review 55:Very pricey for what you got. Breakfast area was very tight come colder weather when they shut down the patio.

Review 56:I liked that it was pet friendly had a beautiful view of the lake.

Review 57:The receptionist at check in 8:15 AM Tuesday August 26 was rude and grumpy. Needs a lesson on customer service.

Review 58:All staff were great except the first person we encountered at the front desk

Review 59:Room large and comfortable with balcony and view of lake. Small things like the location and number of electrical sockets has been thought about and are convenient. Guest laundry handy. Lake lovely. Ideal for a few days to explore Nanaimo and surroundings.

Review 60:Breakfast was a bit chaotic, too small a space for the amount of people there.

Review 61:Staff was very helpful and was fairly centrally located for what i was trying to do.

Review 62:I didn't like the smoking allowed on the patio.. We were staying on the second floor and the people on the floor below us smoked..They chased us inside on a nice evening...

Review 63:I love the location and the lake is beautiful ...

Review 64:- No drinking glass in washhroom - Only coffee pkg. left behind for 1st night stay - No Movie rentals

Review 65:- Cleanliness of the rooms - Beds / LInens - Views - Fantastic staff

Review 66:It is pricy for an average 3-stars hotel. Right next to the Island highway...noisy day and night. Breakfast is basic but adequate. The breakfast eating area is too small.

Review 67:Great idyllic scenery of Long Lake. Friendly staffs.

Review 68:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 69:Felt like we were away from the city with the beautiful lake view. Convenient being close to all amenities of Naniamo.

Review 70:- The cost of accommodation for a single person were a bit too high. - The fact that I could no longer stay there

Review 71:- comfortable room with terrace / balcony (so wide open windows + fresh air) - wonderful view to the lake, park - service / free Wifi + parking - Time of the room services was agreed with me, so I could sleep longer. - Quiet location / privacy - child-friendly pet friendly - Hot Tub - breakfast until 10 AM (would like to get more salty food: ham, bacon, cheese, scrambled eggs..)

Review 72:Shame the highway is so close, and condo development rsstricts acess to walking trail.

Review 73:Clean, spacious room. Fabulous view, very helpful staff, especialy the girl who managed the breakfast single handedly, while catering to a much larger than expected crowd.

Review 74:Nice staff. Working on renovations.

Review 75:Very picturesque, great staff and facilities.

Review 76:The hot tub was not working.

Review 77:The view and the breakfast.

Review 94:The lake was full of goose droppings. Could not swim

Review 95:This was a very, very comfortable motel! We were completely satisfied with our stay, and would stay again.

Review 96:The parking for disabled was only 2 spots and walking over uneven paving stones to room was tricky.
