Reviews for Grandhotel Pupp
Review 1:most activities in the hotel are very expensive. It's a very big place so walking around takes time. food is OK , not more than that
Review 2:wining in the Casino
Review 3:The corridor between the park and riverside is a bit socialist retro sty all other parts are nicely renovated. The jacuzzi pools are not enough warm.
Review 4:I gave a 3 days stay in Pupp as a Christmas gift for my wife. She was stunned of the beauty of the hotel. The service is real 5*.
Review 5:The feeling of the hotel being split up. Having to walk through the restaurant to get to the other parts of the hotel was not comfortable.
Review 6:The sauna / pool facilities, the main hotel, the view, the outside of the hotel, breakfast and the secure parking.
Review 7:- Personell not rude but "cold". Some kindness would be better. - The guy in charge of the SPA appointments soooo slow and hard to communicate!
Review 8:- Clean room and bathroom
Review 9:We were a little disappointed with the spa. Although it was a main point of interest to us when we chose Karlovy vivary as a destination and the Grand Pup in particular.
Review 10:The hotel is very elegant yet it has a warm welcoming feeling.
Review 11:A very charming hotel in a perfect location. The personal is very friendly and the service is perfect. A tradional house, very well maintained, with a very modern spa are. We enjoyed our weekend stay very much.
Review 12:We were assigned a room with a king bed. We requested a room with two double or queen beds since there were 3 of us. We agreed to sleep 3 in a king bed, thinking there would be no additional charge. At check out we were charged for the third person after sleeping uncomfortably.
Review 13:The hotel is beautiful and is located in the beautiful town of Karlovy Vary.
Review 14:Service could be friendlier. Chamber maid didn't speak German/English/Russian and wasn't too friendly overall.
Review 15:We liked the location of the hotel and the architecture of the building. The interior is magnificent. With very small exceptions everything was perfect.
Review 16:There is not one single thing to fault
Review 17:The friendly staff, wonderful decor, amazing breakfast being treated so well be all staff both at check in , check out and in Bechers bar.
Review 18:Depending on in which part of the hotel you are accommodated the way to the spa may be challenging (going through the bar, the restaurant etc). In my case there was a cocktail party organized in the bar and I had to go around outside the hotel (at 13 degrees). Other than that, everything was great.
Review 19:Great breakfast, exquisite location, great view from the balcony, the spa
Review 20:Additional parking fee, the hall for breakfast was too dark and sleepy.
Review 21:Spa possibilities, breakfast, attitude!!!!!! I left my iPad in roomafter we left hotel for Germany and I got it a week later through tntcarrier. Customer service in hotel was strictly following theinstructions I gave. 100 points to personnel. Thank You!!!!!
Review 22:A really old and grand hotel in a beautiful location! We were welcomed by friendly and attentive staff and shown to our room. The hotel was everything you would expect from a five star from furnishings to complimentary water and toiletries. The room was quiet and very comfortable. Just what we had expected.
Review 23:I don't have a bad comment to give.
Review 24:The hotel was beautiful, from the lovely ceilings, to our superior room and the spa facilities. Real highlight for us was also the amazing breakfast we recieved ever morning. Such a choice, and omelettes or pancakes cooked for you on the spot! Ideal. The staff were all so friendly and couldn't do enough for us during our stay. Will defiantly be back for another visit.
Review 25:Pool was closed ????!!!! Spa if you don't see doctor they tell you no schedule Facilities were poor Staff not helpful and not trained to serve in such hotel
Review 26:The village is great The hotel building architecture was nice
Review 27:the owner should decide to invest some money to change carpets and some design improvement to make out of it a diamond, now it is still unpolished stone, despite it worth visiting
Review 28:wonderful place & location within the center of Karlovy Vary, lovely building with atmpsohere
Review 29:staff was a little underqualified, facilities a little old...
Review 30:The location, the atmosphere, the energy, the silence, the architecture, the history, the spa
Review 31:The style and design of the hotel was very confusing. Looked much nicer in the movies. We felt lost in the hotel - having widely travelled, I have stayed in better and cheaper hotels.
Review 32:The looks of the building. Rooms were nice but could have been better
Review 33:Staff at reception were nice but at breakfast they were a bit rude. They never smiled and if you asked them to get you something they reacted like you were beating them with a stick. Our room didn't have a bathtub or air-conditioning. We had a significant problem with wasps flying in our room from the window. The room service menu was very limited. Generally the room was average nothing special (not what you would expect for a 5 * hotel).
Review 34:It looks very nice from the outside and the pool/spa is excellent. The play room was also great
Review 35:The staff we ok and maybe it was their lack of English understanding butalso because we dressed casually they were a bit snobby towards us, butI had the most hysterically bad experience at breakfast were the holidaywaiters were terribly badly trained, the young chef managed to set hispaper towels on fire whilst cooking my eggs, a waitress clearing thenext table dropped a full jug of milk that splattered all over me, andthen didn't even bother to clean it up, letting it seep into thecarpet and final straw was another waitressing cleaning our tableknocked over a class of apple juice, drowning my hat.
Review 36:My wife had a fab Ayurvedic massage, my traditional massage was ok, theswimming pool And spas we wonderful... The rooms are lovely
Review 37:Concierge service and reception staff are rude and inefficient. The bathrooms with showers are tiny. Opt for a room with a bath and you will loose your view. The rooms are not air conditioned so be prepared to have a very hot, uncomfortable night in the summer months or be eaten alive by the local biting insects with your window open. The buffet breakfast is limited. Cooked breakfast revolves around sausage and egg with little variety. The cereals are of poor quality. Made to order pancakes and omelettes are your best bet. The breakfast is served in the very grand festive hall. The park side part of the hotel and the riverside part are very poorly linked with a 'dead space' corridor between the two. This corridor which houses the entrance to the very tacky casino, is reminiscent of connecting concourse at an 1970s airport. We're not sure where the five stars that the Hotel Pupp displays came from, perhaps they won them in a raffle or were awarded them by the grandmother of the manager. Nice building (riverside), but not a 'grand' hotel of Europe as one would expect and definitely not one of five star standing. Advice to management: rethink connectivity between two buildings; staff training is obviously required; remember your customers can always find a better hotel not more than 200 metres away. Stop texting on your laurels, and put your house in order.
Review 38:Spa and pool were of high standard and the Spa staff were of far greater quality than the hotel as a rule. Location is perfect and parking is accessible and fairly priced.
Review 39:-Hotel wanted 900 Kc per hour to rent a room to use the iron. Are you kidding me? Rent a room for an hour? -Hotel unable to hold luggage for an hour. -Staff seems to be able to easily say "no" and not accommodate guest staying at a so-called 5 star hotel.
Review 40:If you are unlucky enough to end up checking into reception 2, get ready for a three star experience. You are essentially treated like cattle. The rooms have one pillow per bed. The spa is a trek. The restaurants/shops are dead. Hallways are abandoned. Don't waste your time trying to relive your Casino Royale or Last Holiday experience. It's run of the mill.
Review 41:The location for exploring is great.
Review 42:Very beautiful town. Quiet and peaceful. Staff were helpful and formerly with entry of facilities. Dining was very good. Hotel bar was atmospheric and nice. Would definitely come again.
Review 43:not all the staff were fluent with english or even having basic english except for the reception. I have tried to call guest services and room service many times with no one picking up.
Review 44:location is great, spa is amazing and the food is very good.
Review 45:Staff in dinning hall is not as keen and helpful as others. grandhotel pupp is clearly divided in two parts, not stating in the description, but still good view of my room.
Review 46:Sophisticated front table staff and great location surrounding by enormous beautiful hotels in colors.
Review 47:1) The TV in the room is too small , the room is very large and you need to watch a 27" TV from a distance of 10mt ....i could hardly see anything , for the money the hotel should provide a much larger TV , 2) There was No CNN and not many news channels , 3) The room desk was too small and too simple , there where No electricity outlets for charging or using a laptop ..! 4)The bathroom was too small compare to the large room , no shower just a bathtub . 5) My room was at the hotel section near the parking entrance , you need to walk quit a distance for the breakfast hall and same if you want to use the swimming pool .
Review 48:Very impressive building ...impressive architecture , the place to be when you want to celebrate your 25th anniversary like i was ..
Review 49:I would take the more luxerious rooms next time, which are considerably more expensive (compared to other hotels in area). Breakfast is quite simple in my opinion, but decent.
Review 50:Really nice hotel, very luxerious wellness area. However, the really nice rooms are at higher price, the cheap ones are so so (in my opinion for the price charged). Yet you have the possibility of using a number of nice hotel features. Very skilled employees. Top notch restaurant (a la carte).
Review 51:This hotel was a shining star 30 years ago. The acces to the pool area thgrough the restaurant is very unprofessional. Staff is bored.
Review 52:Easy to acces by car. The new spa.
Review 53:That we were not able to reserve dinner while staying in hotel. (suggestion: ask quest once they chek in if they plan to eat at hotel; that way quest dont have to search for places to eat dinner; the distance from room to pool and sauna area was not great if you stayed in area not adjacent to pool building.
Review 54:the room and breakfast was great;
Review 55:Some stuff were very nice( most of reception people at least while others not much and many didn't understand English (or speak a bit Russian). I also disliked the fact they were in a hurry to take our plates while still eating. ( note hotel was pretty empty!) Tv wasn't working properly, poor channels selection and device old! Spa changing rooms need improvements, as they don't have proper towels/flip flops/ hair conditioner (u need to bring things from the room),Atmosphere a bit weird is some areas as this is an old building and was very quiet when I visited.
Review 56:Spa is new and nice, good wifi, breakfast was ok as they make omelettes and crepes for u. View of our room was to the river and I believe most of them do. Liked the fact u can find everything in one hotel (casino, bar, restaurant, cafe, spa , some shops), other restaurants and shops are also very close.
Review 57:The lady that checked us in was very pleasant and spoke great english.. Everything you could want is locate at this hotel.. The staff was so sweet. Breakfast was awesome...
Review 58:Nothing.
Review 59:The Grand Hotel Pupp is second to none with its accommodations, food, and service. The focus of every staff member is provide each guest with the best experience possible. This was our second stay and it was just as good as the first.
Review 60:When we arrived we were treated like a poor relative - told we were in the new section and to check in there. Did not make us feel very welcome! We were not even given the option of which side we wanted to be on - and we had the reservations for almost a year! Would not say the "newer" section is 5 star - more like 4 star. We did have a nice large room but very hard bed that bothered both of us.
Review 61:location, view from our room, size of our room.
Review 62:Very poor breakfast (not more than for a 3 star hotel) - absolutely not enough as per quality and per choice - not even regularly offered salmon or choice of meat, sweets, ...... Poor staff at breakfast (did not know even what kind of coffee are offering and the pancakes were very bad - afterwards we were told that the staff were students ...well, they can study, but not when we pay 180 EUR per night, or we have to get a 30% discount for such a poor breakfast. Parking should be for free or not at such big price when staying at hotel
Review 63:spa location great lobby nice staff at check in-out
Review 64:3* quality of interior, but its almost everywhere in Czech Rep. A lot of funny russians
Review 65:Very nice place. 5* service. 5* breakfast. Stuff speaks English,German no problem.
Review 66:The lack of an electric cattle and the impossibility of having a cup of tea or coffee in the room, is a grave defect, especially now-days. A possibility of ordering room service is not an answer to that!!
Review 67:The Luxurious Ambiance; The Royal Spa; The Dining Halls; The tranquility of the entire complex.
Review 68:The possibility of smoking almost everywhere. It smells. No second pair of pillows in the rooms. The interior in the rooms does not correspond to a 5-star hotel. The restaurant personal was young, not well prepared, but during breakfast the oberkellner was loudly shouting at the waiters/ waitresses. This was not nice. In general the service was not good enough.
Review 69:The location, the food at the Bar, the Spa, the treatments and the personal at the Spa
Review 70:breakfast low quality for a 5 stars acari in bed and carpet staff not professional with invasive questions Booking granted a late check out and staff at reception questioned it small bathroom for a 5 stars hotel
Review 71:spa, though temperature was not warm, nearly acceptable
Review 72:The Wi-Fi was a little intermittent, which was a shame.
Review 73:I enjoy staying here and return each summer. It is very comfortable and in a good position. Thank you for another good visit.
Review 74:We had no disappointments at all in our stay in this hotel, and the price was indeed modest for a high season stay.
Review 75:Location couldn't be better. This is a hotel in the grand style. It is excellently maintained in the formal style in its public areas. Rooms, which retain many of the original architectural elements, are quite large but more simply decorated, and are better for this modern age in that simplicity. Bathrooms are beautiful and comfortably functional, but still have a nice feeling and the look of a former time--all good. Breakfast buffet excellent choices and courteously served.
Review 76:No tea-coffee set in the room
Review 77:The location was perfect, right in the beginning of the beautiful walking area of the town and all places of interest were in 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. The building was a magnificent monument. spacious rooms, good breakfast, nice spa...
Review 78:Getting to the Pupp by car as a "mature" couple in our own car was a little tricky, Better directions would have been a help - but everyone we stopped and ask for help was very helpful. We made many U-turns but arrived safely.
Review 79:We loved everything about the facility - including food
Review 80:It's very old nothing renovated u feel like u live in apartment

Review 91:Friendly staff and great location
Review 92:obsolete room facility. and service of the hotel is hasty.

Review 111:Location
