Reviews for Auberge de la Pointe
Review 1:We were given a room in which people had been smoking even though this is a non-smoking establishment. We spoke with the receptionist and were then given a fresher room. Wait staff in the morning were rather nonchalant about their service.
Review 2:The room had a great view of the St. Lawrence River. The dining room had a full menu and the food was very good.
Review 3:Our accommodation was in a wing of the building that appeared tired. Although an effort had been made at some point in the past to renovate our room, the fixtures were old, the tub stained and the sink had a crack in it. The bathroom was very small, making it a bit of a challenge to manoeuvre. Bathroom towels were old, mediocre and inadequate. However, the king bed and bedding were very good and comfortable. When booking, don't forget to consider the outrageous taxes and marketing fee (>15%) that are added to the bill.
Review 4:The restaurant at the Auberge is excellent. It is nice to be able to dine well without driving somewhere. We purchased the Table d'Hote which includes evening meal and breakfast. Food choices were varied and delicious; service was attentive but not intrusive. Décor is very pleasant. The bar/lounge, which also serves food, is very well located, overlooking the river. A large deck has an open fire in the evenings to add some cheery atmosphere. The sunset was spectacular.
Review 5:The mattress was a little uncomfortable.
Review 6:Supper right at the hotel was excellent. The view and the higher end finishing a to the property and room were lovely
Review 7:amicable staff and service the view, the water, the terasse one of my favourite spots to stop in Eastern Canada. it truly a must even for one night the bar
Review 8:We arrived late and the main restaurant seemed a bit too formal for a light meal, but the small bar offered a great variety of food at reasonable prices.
Review 9:The rooms were updated, clean and very comfortable. We were only stopping for the night while driving to PEI but it would be nice to stay longer to check out all the property has to offer.
Review 10:This was our 5th visit to Auberge de la Pointe & will probably be our last ! One of the attractions was their excellent dining room. On arriving this time we were told the dining room was fully booked. The excuse was a large coach party. As this resort has good conference facilities, this seemed strange. We also noticed on the way to our room that the dining room was half empty. After a long day of driving we did not wish to go back in the car to eat fast food. to add insult to injury, the buffet breakfast next morning was mediocre in the extreme.
Review 11:Quiet, clean, well appointed room with good beds & lightin
Review 12:We loved the river view room. The sun set was spectacular. We went for a walk on the walking trails and had a great dinner st the bar! Highly recommend this hotel!
Review 13:It had nothing to do with the hotel but the place become noisy at night due to motorcycles and tuned cars circulating on the road down by the river. The hotel staff explained that there is a curfew at eleven o'clock at night and that is all they could get from the local authorities for the time being.
Review 14:The location is superb. Upon arrival they upgraded our room from city view to river view because the reservation was made through Booking.com. We enjoyed our stay. We plan to repeat the experience.
Review 15:No bad experiences whatsoever.
Review 16:Perfect location, overlooking the St Lawrence. Perfect room, perfectly appointed. We recommend this hotel to any and all.
Review 17:Really enjoyed eating dinner and breakfast at their dining room. Very well prepared food from a good menu. Good service. Purchased the meal package at $57 per person, which we felt was a good value for money if you are looking for fine dining and a full breakfast.
Review 18:Everything was first class and there was a nice pool and hot tub, a beautiful terrace with couches around fire pits overlooking the St. Lawrence. Also a nice walking path below the auberge along the water. Close enough to town to access good restaurants etc.
Review 19:the lay-out of the property...difficult to park...for those with mobility challenges, hills to climb
Review 20:the town it was in and the absolutely gorgeous deck that looks over the st. lawrence
Review 21:The hotel gave us an inferior room and actually told us it was because we booked through the booking .com ...and told us that we could not change it without canceling it completely through booking . Com too!! But I made a big stink and they went ahead and gave us our room after 2 more tries at Ones inferior to what I was paying for. I cancelled the return booking and will not go there again even though we got the room finally that I asked for. We thought we had booked the top room
Review 22:Front desk clerk was extremely helpful...helped us find a better room twice!
Review 23:The staff were friendly however no one came up to you to connect other than to check in and check out. It would have been nice to have a restaurant on site that was more casual. The surroundings are beautiful, the back deck inviting. The indoor facilities (pool area) are also wonderful.
Review 24:I didn't find an air conditioning unit in the room, thankfully there was a cool cross-breeze with windows open.
Review 25:Everyone we encountered was bilingual. My French is quite limited since I haven't used it since high school nearly 30 years ago, so it was a relief that everyone spoke English. The view of the St. Lawrence from our room was spectacular. The room was very comfortable and clean.
Review 26:Should have taken room on second floor. Could hear people walking above. There are many rooms. Some have only one level like motel style, some are hotel style. I would either get motel style or be on upper level.
Review 27:Location good for traveling. Park your car after long day of traveling and rest in pool, get dinner at dinning room or lounge. No need to search for where to eat. Bed excellent and clean room. Near park, good for running or to take walk along water front.
Review 28:Air conditioning was loud, mattress was sloped where guests continually sit, breakfast was expensive thus did not eat, over priced in the older building.
Review 29:Fast and informative checkin
Review 30:The pool are was new and clean, comfortable and stylish. And the view from the very large deck overlooks the St Lawrence and is beautiful with comfortable furniture.
Review 31:it was no air conditioning and it was a lot of noise outside so you can open the window. The room is so small for 250$ price. The washroom is tiny you hardly can move. Everything is good if the price was half. Also when we came it were two weddings in the place and it were no parking at all. Again for this price I should not park two km away and bring my staff.
Review 32:There is no A/C in the room. We happened to stay during a heat wave, which meant we had to leave the patio door open during the whole night. There were two wedding receptions happening on the property as well....not a good night sleep. If roomw were equipped with A\C, I would rate this property top notch.
Review 33:The location of the property is perfect. Located right along the St. Lawrence, with beautiful walking paths.
Review 34:The buildings are all wood frame and you can hear neighbouring suites if they have conversations or TV going
Review 35:Lovely Terrace with gas heaters with ocean views
Review 36:Upon arriving after pointing out that the standard of the used-to-be Motel room was quite low and did not justified the 179 CAD and requesting an other room, we were offered to leave if we weren't happy! The evening meal was soo bad, it is undescribable. The expected service for opening a bottle of wine even though the meal was with taxes and service included. The renovations of the room was kept to a minimum, it did not hide the meldew smell but it had a Iron with board in the room!
Review 37:The terrace with view of the St-Laurence River. That we only had booked one night and could leave on the next day!
Review 38:Room was very warm when we arrived. No AC. No windows. Ventilation was only by using trash can to prop open the front door and by leaving the sliding glass door open all night. Very small toilet/shower space -- truly a "Water Closet".
Review 39:They allowed dogs. Even had a patio bar where we could get drinks/snacks and have the dogs. Great Restaurant.
Review 40:The bathroom was small and dated. The little step at the doorway of the bathroom although small was a potential tripping hazard.
Review 41:Easy access to highway, great pool area and the view was fabulous. The room was very nice.
Review 42:arrived 9.30 pm they have nothing to offer us to eat,we had to wait another hour to get our delivery. we could not connect to the wifi even a single minutes
Review 43:the location is good
Review 44:check-in was a bit slow with ability to help only 2 customers at a time.
Review 45:Everything! Beds, pillows, staff, facilities. The pool area was very nice. Price of hotel is great value.
Review 46:I found this hotel to be a great value. Our room was very nice, great view of the river. The hotel staff were very accommodating to my very small french vocabulary. I will absolutely stay again if I am in the area.
Review 47:Old style hotel (Motel) . Each room has an entrance directly to the outside. This can make for a noisy night if others are loud. Fortunately this did not affect us.
Review 48:Rooms are nice and clean. Bed is very comfortable. Did not try the restaurant! Front desk was very pleasant and helpful. We would stay again.
Review 49:All units should have air conditioning. People around the fire pit should be quiet after10 pm. Finally, remind guests who have units above others that they should not dance around or move furniture after 10 pm as well.
Review 50:Rooms are poorly sound-proofed and ours was only ready 2 hours after check-in time. Front desk staff looks overwhelmed by the job and there is always a lineup.
Review 51:Location: the main selling point is the location and the river view. The terrace overlooking the river is also a great asset.
Review 52:I was disappointed that there were $40 in added "room service" fees that we did not request, and were added to our bill at checkout.
Review 53:I loved the location, staff and food. Amazing view. Great pool.
Review 54:Could not book a room with river view with booking.com although there were many available rooms. Could have changed the room when got there but had to cancell booking.com and did not want to....
Review 55:Great scenery and friendly people.
Review 56:For such a high rated hotel they only had shampoo and no conditioner or lotion. Most hotels do provide these.
Review 57:The view is magnificent and the outdoor facilities to view them are top notch. There were wonderful outdoor furniture sections set up in various spots with open firespots.
Review 58:Since we were in the Motel section, we had to go outside to get to the fitness centre and being the fall, it was cold.
Review 59:It was a great stop after catching the ferry and on our way to New Brunswick. The restaurant was excellent and it was nice to be able to walk into town and to walk down to the River. I am sure the patio is lovely in the summer.
Review 60:This was our first visit to Auberge de la Pointe. It, certainly, will not be our last. From the moment we arrived to the time of departure the Staff were very friendly and extremely efficient. The food was fabulous. The location on the banks of the St. Lawrence was spectacular.
Review 61:Tired hallways, strange looking metal channel ceiling. Cramped bathroom. Only slightly less expensive than a much nicer property where we stayed on the return trip.
Review 62:The bed was comfortable. Room was clean. View was lovely. Well located.
Review 63:Small bathroom, no safety lock on door, regulation of sliding door so no access to unit as it was on level so couldn't leave it open overnight. This unit had no air conditioner as it faced the river so room was stuffy at night.
Review 64:Allowed pets, quietness, cleanliness, friendliness of staff, Wine glasses, fridge, scenery, loved that the room had no carpets with a pet. Great bed and nice bedding. Price was reasonable.
Review 65:The fog on the morning we stayed there,we did not get to see the whole hotel complex. The area we did see looked lovely.
Review 66:We enjoyed the evening meal, the hotel was beautifull.
Review 67:The meal plan package is good value but one small quibble with the table d'hôte menu. Besides the appetiizer or soup option, the choice of a salad would be nice.
Review 68:Good beds, excellent reading lights. Lovely, attractive restaurant with excellent food and pleasant and efficient staff. This is our third stay on our way back from our summer home in PEI. We will definitely be back next year!
Review 69:The hallway was super cool but there didn't seem to be air conditioning in the room itself - we ended up opening the sliding door for fresh air
Review 70:The staff were super friendly and helpful. And the view from our room was breath taking.
Review 71:The location was perfect overlooking the Fleuve from our balcony. The room was very clean and well equipped and the bed was extremely comfortable. A short distance to the centre of Rivière du Loup with a choice of many restaurants, bake shop, pharmacy, etc. A return is a must.
Review 72:We took the "package" for dinner and breakfast. The waitress serving us during the dinner was very rude and the dinner itself was mediocre.
Review 73:Excellent location, beautiful view from the "river view" room.
Review 74:There are bikes available for loan that, while fun to have to tour around a bit, were pretty low grade and not in very good shape (sticky shifting, squeaky bottom bracket, etc.) People were smoking on the balcony next to us, something we could smell in our room, however the staff quickly attended to the issue when we complained.
Review 75:The Auberge was everything we'd hoped for, with beautiful views of the St Laurence, many great amenities and a very comfortable room. The location was excellent, not only for the views, but for the park and walking / cycling trails just on the shore below with a good mix of open shore and wonderful shoreline cottages.
Review 76:Very small bathroom, carpet
Review 77:We were lucky to get a room with private balcony and wonderful view, the bar, good food, very pleasant staff, Keurig in room, good Wifi.
Review 78:Booked this hotel for its location and for a quick overnight stop off. It was a lovely surprise to be able to watch the sun set over the St Lawrence - definitely a bonus!
Review 79:I wish I had booked a room with a balcony. I had a city view which amounted to no view and it felt like being in a motel, even though the rooms are very clean.
Review 80:Location-- overlooking St Laurent River. Access to beach and bike path. Room was clean and efficient.
Review 81:Restaurant was limited in choices.
Review 82:Relaxing atmosphere. Great view. Wonderful deck with fireplace at night. Pool was nice and warm. Hot tub and sauna was great.
Review 83:No A/C, bathroom is tiny with a toilet and tub jammed into one space and the sink outside the bathroom near the entry to the room. Poorly decorated and in need of modernization. And this was the top of the line room.
Review 84:location has view of St. Lawrence, although there is a highway between the hotel and the river. Room is good size
Review 85:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 86:Unique hotel just across the whale watching point with wooden pathways along the drop to the St. Lawrence river. Incredible location, very efficient staff, both in the reception and restaurant. We travelled with a dog, and the hotel reserves four rooms with patio doors leading directly outside for the pet travelers. Very thoughtful of them. Overall extremely pleasant experience. And the breakfast was so yummy, I almost ordered a second one. Wholeheartedly recommended.
Review 87:The view, the staff, the acceptance of our dogs, the beautiful outdoor deck with comfortable seating, the fact we could outdoors with our dogs, the delicious breakfast, the wonderful view from the Jacuzzi.
Review 88:NO air conditioning limited patio menu...only place to eat if you have a dog
Review 89:Staff excellent. Views lovely. Dog friendly with convenient rooms to outside.
Review 90:We found it very had to check in or get help, as the front desk was always busy. Most of the staff struggled understanding English or communicating back to us in English. Servers in restaurant were slow to re-fill drinks.
Review 91:Comfortable, clean room. Food at on-site restaurant was superb. Great view of the river.
Review 92:No fridge in the room. Vary dated and extremely small TV.
Review 93:Live that there is no carpet in the rooms. Location, location, location. They have beautiful facilities and a view that cannot be beat.
Review 94:Too bad the wifi did not work on the terras ... but, no worries, makes you enjoy the sunset even more without wifi.
Review 95:Great view if you stay at the riverside with beautiful sunset. And, lovely terras!
Review 96:Beautiful view, professional staff, free bikes for those staying onsite and very close to bike trails along water, lovely rooms, food delicious and aesthetically pleasing, very accommodating, great pool with fulltime lifeguard.
Review 97:Wifi very poor No balcony No A/C but not needed
Review 98:Location has great views Staff were efficient and friendly Food was VG $$$$ VG Comfortable rooms
Review 99:There was nothing that we did not like.
Review 100:The view was breathtaking! We loved the access to a walking path along the river. Both the evening meal and breakfast were delightful and we enjoyed the attentive service and smiling faces of the employees! After our dinner and evening walk, we sat around the gas fire pit on the deck outside overlooking the river. What a special way to end a memorable day!
Review 101:The meal package was pricey for what it entailed -- though the food was very good.
Review 102:The facilities were beautiful and the pool was terrific! Very comfortable and spacious with lots of amenities. Loved that it was pet-friendly too!!!
Review 103:En route to Saint John from Toronto - ideal place to stop - room was spacious and clean - town was very quaint - we had our 7 month puppy with us and were able to take her as the property was per friendly - nice view as well
Review 104:Not a concern for us since we would make arrangements to have our pets taken care of by friends, family or a kennel before travelling on a get-away pleasure vacation but some have complained that with pets they stay in the hotel building up from the main resort building. Same great view and quality room but a few dozen meters up from main lobby. A small compromise in my view to have a pet friendly room in such a nice resort/Auberge.
Review 105:Great location with balcony overlooking river. Great sunsets. Very pleased with in-house restaurant menu, food and service. We took the Table-D'Hore dinner/breakfast special on both days of our stay. Staff went out of their way to ensure a satisfying stay. Free shuttle service to and from docks for whale-watching cruise.Easy access to a lovely walking path along the shoreline right up to the ferry docks. Auberge situated right next to an ice-cream parlour. Auberge de la Pointe Highly recommended.
Review 106:Reservation required to eat at the restaurant at this location. Very busy with wedding receptions during our stay, prevented us from finding any place to eat at this hotel. However lots of restaurants available with a short car drive.
Review 107:Friendly and curtious staff. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Great location, beautiful scenery.
Review 108:Comfortable, clean rooms with beautiful view. We received a great value offer for a 3 course dinner + breakfast, including tip, which we gladly used. Food was excellent!
Review 109:The restaurant service was very slow and the food somewhat disappointing.
Review 110:The view was lovely. The staff were lovely and highly accommodating.
Review 111:would have like to stay longer...
Review 112:A very pleasant and comfortable place to stay. The restaurant menu was exceptional as well as the breakfast menu.
Review 113:We had to leave !
Review 114:Very very clean, all the staff, the restaurant and food was great. They deserve a 11 on 10 rating.
Review 115:price of coffee $3.18 way to much
Review 116:view from room was wonderfull
Review 117:WiFi not in every room needs a casual restaurant also.
Review 118:Location and the view
Review 119:Just perfect
Review 120:Location was near the ferry. We also liked the large indoor pool.
Review 121:The lady who checked us in was extremely helpful and friendly
Review 122:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Both the room and the restaurant were fabulous.
Review 123:Beautiful location on the St. Lawrence River. A bit out of the way if one is just in transit.
Review 124:A real gem of a property, excellent check in staff!! One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in.
Review 125:Great location from Perce on the Gaspe Peninsula on the way to Quebec City.
