Reviews for Auberge du Grand Paradis
Review 1:a bit far from the town centre, you need to take a taxi. breakfast was good, but only jams, I miss some cheese or chocolate paste, maybe an egg.
Review 2:nice charming rooms, good location to ski home, cosy. nice coffee and bread in the morning.
Review 3:Having to leave.
Review 4:We received a very warm welcome upon arrival and were able to relax straight away. The Food was outstanding, Beds were really comfy, Bathroom was nice and clean / new and up to date. Whole place is really homely and you can see a lot of effort has been put into updating and refurbishing the place. Bar / restaurant toilets outstanding and tastefully done. We could not of asked for more. Thank you, Sarah , Keith , Rosa.
Review 5:geeat location for ski in/out, lovely decor and fabulous food!
Review 6:Just a touch out of the village, would have liked to be a little closer.
Review 7:Was more restaurant than hotel, so food was excellent, best hi food ever.
Review 8:Insonorisation des chambres
Review 9:Wifi didn't work, bathroom was across corridor, noise from other rooms apparent in room.
Review 10:Bar was cosy and atmosphere was good. Food was excellent, staff were friendly. Location was excellent - right next to chair lift and can right to hotel.
Review 11:- dirty shower - room and bathroom never cleaned during our stay - very dangerous ice in front of the doors - owners didn't bother to remove - British owners - only talked to their British guests - VERY expensive for what they offer - bathroom on the ground floor corridor, where all other guests pass - poor breakfast - very noisy place: wood creaking everywhere - weird reactions of owners on simple questions/requests
Review 12:- proximity to skilift
Review 13:If we had to picky about some things we’d call out… When the lodge is full of people there is a little noise from other guests rooms, but this is to be expected in a lodge of this style. The Wi-Fi was a bit flaky during our stay, but once mentioned, the proprietor quickly sorted this with SwissCom, and it wasn’t a fault at the lodge. If you don’t have your own transport, there are regular buses from the ski lift into the village, however ensure you don’t miss the last bus (5:15pm) from Champery village to the lodge as the walk, (15mins) is dark, narrow and un-lit in places - especially if you aren’t prepared & wearing/carrying ski’s & boots. There isn’t much to do if you come back to the lodge early afternoon, maybe there could be more board games & cards for guests - but the bar & snug with its open fire is warm and welcoming.
Review 14:Excellent location close to lift with Ski in/out in the right conditions, the lodge is under new management and standards have risen significantly. Our booking didn’t include HB, but the owners were great and created a cost efficient HB package for us on the fly. The proprietor took extra care to explain the menu choices as we were not French speaking, the choices were of a high standard and great variety. The food is excellent quality, and the restaurant staff were very friendly and took special care of our son (8yrs). The proprietor and his wife were very friendly and took time to ensure all the guests were happy. The Chef was very considerate with regards to adjusting some items on HB menu for our son. The portion sizes were very good. Don’t be put off when booking if you think you don’t have bathroom in the confirmation email from Bookings.com, all rooms do have private bathrooms, but some are across the corridor. The bathrooms are recently refurbished with high quality fittings and great shower pressure. The rooms are warm, basic, and tidy with comfortable beds and fluffy warm duvets. There is a gentle slope close to the lodge for small kids to ride a sledge, and make snow men. We would defiantly return, lovely lodge and superb bar with friendly staff.
Review 15:Amazing food every night Small & quiet hotel Ski in, ski out Quiet efficient lift 100m away Not in town, but lovely riverside woodland 2 km walk to champrey
Review 16:The location is perfect for ski-in/ski-out and a relaxing night butslightly limited to options for nightlife and dinner if you want to trya different scene. Was not a problem for us as a couple but could be forothers. However, the ski shuttle bus to town was an option but only to1730. There is a hotel shuttle bus but for us, there was no need tobother the owners. Continental breakfast only.
Review 17:Loved that we could ski back to the hotel right from the piste.Delicious dinners at the hotel restaurant. All the staff were veryhospitable and accommodating. Clean and updated from 2011 renovations. In future, will try the half board 40 chf per person option. Enjoyed a 3day ski lodge stay!
Review 18:Swiss prices - but that's not the fault of the Auberge
Review 19:Very relaxed and informal yet well organised and efficient.Comfortable family atmosphere plus great house dogs by the fire.Really easy access to the piste and lift - ski in and out. Goodrestaurants in nearby village
Review 20:Poor wine list,no tea making facilities in room,no tv in room,no hairdrier however the chalet is fully wi fied so take your i pad or whatever to watch tv.The hosts kindly filled up cups with hot water for tea when i asked and also lent my wife a hair drier upon request
Review 21:The location was fantastic, the room was comfortable with an ensuite. The food was excellent and can be purchased half board prior to staying. The late checkout was particularly helpfull and allowed an extra morning on the slopes.Although it is out of champery it is located aprox 200mtrs from the chair lift and there is a frequent free bus from the chair lift into Champery. The piste to the chair lift is about 25mtrs away.We shall definately go back
Review 22:Bathroom was across the corridor not en-suite. Quite a lot of noise in the bedroom due to the thin walls and creaking wooden stairs.
Review 23:Excellent food, good service. Lively apres-ski ambiance. Cosy snug with fireplace.
Review 24:Paper thin walls in bedroom so could hear everything of neighbours above and to the side.
Review 25:Great location. Warm & cosy bar space. Friendly and helpful staff. Good sized room. Excellent food.
Review 26:A little pricey but I suppose this is Switzerland!
Review 27:Fantastic location for skiing Fabulous food Friendly, relaxed, great place
Review 28:Fantastic Food ease of boot room and proximity of piste Nordic Skiing next door
