Reviews for Hotel Rothaus
Review 1:A bit expensive for a superbasic room, but hey, its Zurich. Comfortable bed, tv, bathroom ok.
Review 2:Excelent location, 15 min walk to Main Train Station, supermarket acroos street, lots of bars and restaurants around
Review 3:A smile from the receptionist would have been a plus.
Review 4:This is a cool place if you don't mind to be in the bar area of Zurich. Take room at the back to avoid noise from the street. They have international newspapers at breakfast.
Review 5:The hotel in langestrasse street , which in the center of Night clubs , the street was full of prostitutes and drunk guys . you could nt feel safe to wake around the hotel . The parking i reserved was in other building .. and you have to walk up and down into the main garage entrance . its not worthy for the money .
Review 6:Nothing ..!!
Review 7:The location was not in a great part of town and far away from Old Town and the lake. There are no good restaurants close by. The room was plain and had concrete floors. The street below was very noisy at night due to the nearby night clubs.
Review 8:The staff was friendly and always available, and the bed was comfortable. There were a couple tram and bus stops right outside the hotel that could take you to and from the train station or other sights.
Review 9:Although close to train station and most attraction, the nightlife around the hotel wasnt exactly nice!! Not recommended for families!! There was no tea/coffee amenities in the room. Bathroom Although clean was very small.
Review 10:Friendly helpful staff. Allowed us to check in and park the car early. Parking available opposite hotel but at a cost. Lift available. Clean comfortable room. Good enough for a night.
Review 11:Over All the place was nice since it was very near to the airport, Easy access to many of our activities planned. But the streets in the night becomes very noisy which in turn gets very difficult to sleep. Break Fast not included in your booking we need to pay extra for this. Rooms are quite spacious. The Balcony view was nice in the morning to have a cup of coffee and relax.
Review 12:Access with heavy bags wasn't that easy, even walking inside the property. The neighborhood also isn't the best one and supermarkets are a bit of a walk from it.
Review 13:It was cheaper than other hotels nearby and wasn't that far from the city historical center which made it a good value for the money paid. The staff was very helpful even though not all of them spoke english.
Review 14:-A bit far from all the city attractions but then Zurich is a small city and there is a bus stop nearby -No Toiletries Provided -Hotel Near Red Light Area but ok -Front side rooms a bit noisy being on the face of the road -Not much variety in Breakfast - Expensive with respect to the value but I guess that goes same with all the Zurich - Bathroom has no drain in the floor only in the shower area -Wifi gets disconnected everytime fone is locked
Review 15:Don't think that if you are not going to open the window you won't hear the noise of clubs from the street! Take earplugs with you! The noise is terrible. The room is very simple, no any attempt to make it more cozy...
Review 16:The location is nice, but be sure you have taken your earplugs with you.
Review 17:Expected a hotel to provide atleast glasses for water in the room or a telephone so that we can talk to the reception. When requested to use the microwave, was told that they do not have any cooking options on the property.
Review 18:clean, relatively convenient from the main train station.
Review 19:Hotel practically open to anyone because the back access was always open (use the room safe!); the location is not the best (people tend to become load in the street when night falls); spartan rooms.
Review 20:Staff was super nice; rooms were clean
Review 21:- small room - basic amenities - cold atmosphere in the room (decoration could be improved)
Review 22:- location - quiet despite langstrasse nearby - people at reception very friendly :)
Review 23:Noisy, Red light area with bars. Lots of police presence. Elevator stops between floors. Not good for luggage and older people
Review 24:Good location for buses.4 blocks from train station.Close to some good restaurants.
Review 25:The area wasn't great, it's a bit far from the main part of town but it was still easy to get to town - 15 minute walk or a tram, we chose the hotel to be close to the train station.
Review 26:For a 2 star hotel it was better than expected. We were able to check in earlier than expected, room was basic but beds were comfortable. About a 10 minute walk to the train station.
Review 27:Extremely noisy, located under several bars and clubs, very loud music until 4am. Bathroom is tiny for a triple room! I literally had to sit on the toilet sideways, I'm average height.
Review 28:Clean and easily accessible by bus. Staff are friendly.
Review 29:The rooms feel like you are in an old hospital or health clinic. Very stark and sterile.
Review 30:The staff were friendly and accommodating. Close to the train and cbd.
Review 31:On a negative side: 1. My windows were facing a disco-bar across the street - too noisy 2. Parking is small. If you go by a rented car which you don't feel well, prepare for some exercise :)
Review 32:On a positive side: 1. Friendly staff, 2. Not so expensive accommodation for one of the most expensive cities in the world, 3. Quite clean and tidy 4. Own parking
Review 33:We got room 102, which is directly adjacent to a club that plays loud music until 5 in the morning .. no way you can sleep. But they charged full price without even telling us in advance that it'll be two loud nights.
Review 34:WiFi was unstable and frequently offline.Impossible to do any work. Bathroom quite dated (but very clean). Shower head old and worn out (broken). For people sensitive to street noise (not me) this would not be a good choice.
Review 35:Accommodation is simple and the price reflects it. Very clean.
Review 36:The only bad thing was that the neighborhood wasn't really for people with children, overall. Not horrible, just a little loud, and lot's of bars, and trip clubs. It didn't seem unsafe, but my teenagers were a little nervous going out after 9 pm for dinner. I found out after booking that it is actually in their red light district.....that explains it all! It is a perfect hotel for people going to that area to party!
Review 37:The staff were wonderful! Very helpful, and professional. The beds were great, we slept very well. The shower was pretty good, and enclosed! The lobby was really nice, and everything was very clean. We had to leave before breakfast, so didn't get to enjoy that.
Review 38:very hot weather but no air conditioning...staff bring us a fan but still hot. the window is facing a main crossing. very noisy because of the Caribbean carnival. cannot go to sleep. have to say that we were unlucky to confront the hot weather no air conditioning with noisy carnival overnight.very small room.
Review 39:good location. close to the main zurich train station. cafes and shops around. very convenient. modern decoration
Review 40:Too noisy from bar opposite, if closed window it's too hot to sleep. I couldnt sleep until early morning when bar closed n opened window.
Review 41:Clean room w good bed, good bathroom, strong wifi, friendly staff.
Review 42:Very noisy due to road traffic and drinking bars at the neighborhood. People shout, talked very loud and the windows have to be opened for ventilation because room is not air conditioned. Noises come in thru the windows and impossible to sleep. Glad we stayed only 2Ns. Can't wait to get out.
Review 43:wifi is unstable and reconnecting over and over again very noisy at night , there is a club is just opposite the hotel. Lots of bars are around
Review 44:near train station , just 10 minutes walk
Review 45:A great location and very central. At just a few tram stops from the railway station its a great base for discovering Zurich.Very spacious ,basic and clean rooms .A Grocery store was next door literally. Our room had a street view with glimpses of a cheerful nightlife.Great staff who knew every corner of the city and how to get there.Aida being our family favourite.I would recommend it to my friends.
Review 46:The next building had a night club, and its sound was "rocking" for the whole night.
Review 47:The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. All the 3 beds were real beds, no sofa beds.
Review 48:At night, it was just too loud outside the hotel as the hotel is located in a area with many bars.
Review 49:It was clean, the room was big, the internet connection was very good
Review 50:The toilet is too small. But still can consider. However I Don't recommend this hotel for family or mature couple. strange people around and risky.
Review 51:The staff, the hotel lobby interior, the cleanliness, LOCATION VERY ACCESSIBLE
Review 52:We were in a top floor street room. As there was no AC and the room was very warm we wanted to keep the window open. However, the hotel is across from a bar/club and there was a very loud and rowdy crowd partying until 6AM. Probably a great location if you're looking to go out and join the party, but if not would definitely avoid.
Review 53:The lift does not stop every floor. So you still have to carry your luggages up some stairs.
Review 54:The staff is very friendly. They offered to lend me umbellas which saved our day in Lucern. The location is not as bad as it seems. It is very close to the train station. Although it is in red light district, the noise was acceptable (maybe because it rainned every night when we were there)
Review 55:The people hanging around outside the hotel were a bit rough. I am glad I had a guy with me being a young woman.
Review 56:Great value close enough to walk to all the important streets and train station. Clean and friendly staff.
Review 57:A lot of prostitutes hang out on the street in the area - which was fine, but you need to pick your bars selectively if you are not looking for one...
Review 58:Nice modern, minimalist style accomodation - well kept with everything you need. Great location - 10 min walk from train station, next to bars and night clubs.
Review 59:Bars is all around and have noise at night (bring earplug if you care). Drunk people ask me for money in the morning near bus stop in front of hotel. A bit scary!
Review 60:Good location, but triple room is so small for actually 3 people. Wifi is OK (not so fast) they have free fruits at reception desk. Staff is good.
Review 61:But a good comfort night sleep close walk to Zurich train station.
Review 62:If your stuck then this is for you.its clean and comfortable. But don't expect any luxury. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room.no carpet in the room. The colour of the walls is the same colour as the floor and ceiling!! therea a narrow lift so don't bring a wheelchair.
Review 63:As most places in Zurich very expensive for what it is. I paid 110 CFH for a very basic room without breakfast. Almost anywhere else in Europe I would have paid less then 50 euros for the same quality or better with breakfast included.
Review 64:Friendly staff
Review 65:- poor breakfast, for the same money you get something better outside - tv was very small and far from the bed - room floor was cold, a carpet would help a lot
Review 66:- location in questionable area but great for me because it was close to train station - large room - friendly staff - good deal for the price
Review 67:Location: Its in the middle of the RLD which is good if that's your thing. It's not mine so I was caught of guard with some of the local context.
Review 68:Staff: They were friendly, helpful and accommodating with an early check-in request. Cleanliness: Amidst the grime of the RLD, Rothaus was pristine. Price: VFM for one of the most costly cities in Europe. Location: This cuts 2 ways. Walking distance to the city centre which is excellent. Public transport is fully accessible is also helpful for getting to the Airport and other local sites. Safe and Secure Environment: The hotel itself is well-secured with safes in room, passcode gates and a personal presence at all points.
Review 69:A little noisy, breakfast not included, neighbourhood a little rough but no problems
Review 70:Economy, staff, easy access to transport, clean rooms, easy to main sights
Review 71:The moment I stepped into the hotel, I felt comfortable as compared to the environment surrounding the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, offered us kettles and whatnot without us asking. The room was clean and spacious, which exceeded my expectations. We have an attached bathroom, it was great. I have nothing to complain about. I would strongly recommend this hotel to all the travelers out there looking for a budget yet comfortable hotel, you couldn't ask for more.
Review 72:However, the atmosphere of the town was so much different than I expected. Quite noisy after midnight, and definately not recommend for female travellers.
Review 73:it was quite near to the main station (4 bus stops away).
Review 74:The area is not so "safe", alot of drunk people near and also some shady character. The room above us was really noisy, yelling and throwing towel at 2 am. Also one of the pillow was as clean as we want, but changed immediately after request.
Review 75:Staff was friendly and helpful
Review 76:It's in the city's red light district, and we felt safe walking around while it was light out, but the noise went on all night long. We had the window open a little to get some air into the room, and there was loud noise until at least 4 or 5 am.
Review 77:Nice hotel on a busy, loud street. We had a spacious triple room, although the bathroom was so tiny it was hard to take a shower. About a 15 minute walk from the train station.
Review 78:The hotel is located right next to a busy bar it was way too noisy to get any decent sleep. I guess in the end you get what you pay for...
Review 79:Location, close to train station.
Review 80:The location is not the best if you want silence. During our stay there were several "street parties" outside because of the football world cup. The windows were effective at blocking most of the noise. However, if you wanted to open the windows and get some fresh air there would always be clouds of cigarette smoke coming in. If you are concerned about this, maybe you should request a room away from the main road!
Review 81:We booked a triple room as this was a really cost-effective way to stay in Zurich near to the city centre. Hotel staff were extremely pleasant and made our stay very comfortable. We wanted to stay an extra night in the same room and they made it really easy.
Review 82:No air-conditioning; Very poor breakfast considering the price.
Review 83:Close to the city centre; Close to the Train Station, but not a very good neighbourhood.
Review 84:Near bar . A little noisy at night. ( the ear plugs are provided, very nice)
Review 85:The staff is very nice and friendly. The facilities and wifi in the room are excellent!
Review 86:No have
Review 87:Pleasure when we ask some information.
Review 88:Lively area. A bit rundown but some cheaper bars and only 10-15 mins walk to the sttaion.
Review 89:Friendly staff. Decent location - walking distance to train station & old town. Wifi.
Review 90:Nothing.
Review 91:Location was convenient to the train station and good value for the money.Friendly staff.
Review 92:location is good which is 4 stops from the central railway station by bus #31; feel a quite compact lodging
Review 93:Location ,frindly staff
Review 94:neighbourhood
Review 95:Nice staff
Review 96:No kettle, I borrowed one from reception
Review 97:The room is clean and big enough for three people
Review 98:1. Very noisy at night on weekends!
Review 99:1. Clean room. 2. Comfortable bed. 3. Good location.
Review 100:the Lifts don't go to all the floors, might be a problem with heavy luggage
Review 101:Staff Friendly
Review 102:Noisy weekends,
Review 103:Great fun place & hugely convenient to Zurich. Excellent staff, loved this place & great value for money
Review 104:Area too rowdy and lively, mane because of a festival
Review 105:Close to station
Review 106:Reception staffs are very helpful and accommodating.
Review 107:Noisy hotel surroundings
Review 108:Clean room
Review 109:Poor Wi Fi Street noise.
Review 110:Nice staff, good location walking distance from railway station and city center, clean room.
Review 111:the shower tub is small
Review 112:spacious room , nice bed
Review 113:The place is a dump. It's in an awful area and I'm glad we were only there for one night.
Review 114:There was lots of prostitution near by.
Review 115:Location, close to station and city.
Review 116:place is so noisy. noise came from opposite budget backpacker hotel. unable to sleep with noise all night
Review 117:no air condition, too warm
Review 118:good location
Review 119:convenient for over night stop on way to bernino railway
Review 120:NO WIFI, LIFT WAS POOR, NO AC
Review 121:LIFT FACILITIES, WI-FI, AIRCONDITIONING AND ATTENDENCE
Review 122:Staff was very nice. Adequate rooms but the bathrooms are a bit small.
Review 123:Should be clearly stated that it is in the heart of the night club area. Very noisy with all the club patrons.
Review 124:The Neighborhood was really bad
Review 125:expensive for location. Little more than glorified hostel. Young Staff were helpful
Review 126:None!
Review 127:Service! the staff at reception were extremely helpful and very hospitable
Review 128:WiFi is very poor
Review 129:It's nearly rail station and very good location
Review 130:Too much noisy street all the nights, no air condition in the room.
Review 131:Staff, location
