Reviews for Mermaid Suites

Review 1:Heaters in bedroom and bathroom not working. Repeated issues with keycards demagnetizing. A few additional kitchen items would make a huge difference - specifically small microwavable casserole dishes.

Review 2:Location Convenience of apartment style

Review 3:Toilet, soaker tub and sinks all slow to drain.

Review 4:It was better than a hotel because it offered the comfort level of an apartment. Very private and I had the loft suite all to myself.

Review 5:It was the best surprise ever. The value was so good we were expecting the worst but it turned out to be fantastic. Hoping I can get back there again soon.

Review 6:It might be a good idea to replace the carpet with hardwood or new carpet.

Review 7:Location and value couldn't be beat! The staff was also amazing, kind and helpful. We also loved the fish and chips restaurant below the hotel.

Review 8:The only thing i didnt like about the room was the musty smell . Other then that our stay was very nice !

Review 9:I really liked all the open space , lots of room for guests to sit and relax . The furniture was very comfortable and the room was very clean . I was pleasntly surprised about the noise level , being so close to the street i thought it would be very disruptive but was very relaxing.

Review 10:The sheets and pillows were worn out. I was shocked to find sheets so worn that they had pill balls in them. Up and down the narrow stairs to a parking meter as we found out later there was nearby parking for an additional 6bucks. Coffee maker and filters but no coffee. The Internet password and one of our cads didn't work. Lucky the second one did and the wifi password for the bar worked. For the 239 a night I would have expected decent bedding and parking included

Review 11:The tub was wonderful and unit was tastefully furnished.

Review 12:Superior suite bathroom has the unbearable smell. You have to hold your breath to go into the bathroom. So stingy smell. If not because this, it was a good stay.

Review 13:Staff is nice and friendly, location is convenient, right in the downtown.

Review 14:There is no parking, we had to park on the street and feed the meter daily. We had the suite on the 3rd floor- long haul with many suitcases.

Review 15:The hotel was within walking distance of the wharf, downtown shops and eating establishments. Good location. Staff offered to meet our needs. Even though the hotel is above a bar, the noise was not an issue.

Review 16:There was a parade in front of the hotel ( Mermaid Suite) and we weren't made aware of the consequences of leaving our car in the parking area . This resulted in a towing of our car and a hefty financial charge to have it released !!

Review 17:We were a little surprised by the fact that it wasn't a hotel. It was difficult to find and there is no front desk. You check in at the Fish and Chips restaurant next door. However, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. It is on a main street, so it was a little difficult to find parking, and it was meter parking.

Review 18:We loved the space. They are essentially apartments with a living room, kitchenette, and separate bedroom. They offered a 15% discount at the Fish and Chips restaurant. The kitchen included everything that you would need from wine glassed to coffee filters. The location is fantastic! It is in the centre of the city and we walked everywhere.

Review 19:Kitchenette did not come equipped with a hot plate, so unable to make breakfast. There was no coffee provided or dish soap to wash the dishes. The shower drain was clogged so the tub was half full of water when done showering. Was woke up early because of seagulls and crows in back lane making a racket.

Review 20:Downtown location

Review 21:The only draw back is that the bath tub drained very slowly.

Review 22:This is an old house that has been turned into a hotel. We had anapartment type room and before checking in the owner took me to the roomto make sure I wolld be pleased with the property, something that isunusual today. These owners , acouple of young men, also owned a pubstyle restaurent next door " brits fish and CHIPS" the fooswas excellent. I had a blt, omg, it was made on 3 slices of multigrainbread - one slice with bacon - another slice with more bacon lettuce andtomato and a last slice of bread, never have I eaten such a good blt. Myhusband and granddaughter had a club sandwich and was equally ag goodand packed with all ingredience. We will stay again. Thank you for sucha pleasant stay. It is right downtown Charlettown and lots of shoppingand banking at hand. Nice walking to all shops.

Review 23:The only parking available is on the street with parking meters. We paid when we could, and lucked out by not getting fined. Though, I suspect the parking fine would be cheaper than parking in parking garages in other cities.

Review 24:Comfortable, close to great places to eat and shop.

Review 25:We really enjoyed the fish and chips at Britt's Fish and Chips and that we got 15% off because we were staying at Mermaid Suites! The security to get into the building is reassuring.

Review 26:The heat would not get over 63 degrees, in the room. There was no working heater in the washroom. You could hear your neighbors and the restaurant downstairs. Silverware was dirty. Pillow had blood stain on it.

Review 27:Great location. Nice set up in room. Comfortable bed. Lots of storage space.

Review 28:Steep stairs up from the street, the unit it on top of a fish and chip shop.

Review 29:This accommodation was of an old nature but it was roomy and comfortable. Very convenient for walking around Charlottetown. Bathroom has been renewed, very clean and efficient. Two TV's, one in each room. Thank you.

Review 30:Being above a fish and chip shop, there was a bit of a food odor but it certainly wouldn't deter me from another visit. The pros out weigh the very minor con.

Review 31:Mermaid suites was an excellent place to stay. Staff, friendly and very helpful. Very easy to check in. Loved the area, great coffee shops, restaurants, including Leonard's and Brits Fish & Chips. Appreciated the space, having a kitchen and a place, other than a bedroom to read and do a little work on my computer. Will definitely go back.

Review 32:This was well worth every penny. Great spot downtown and was nice and quiet. Would love to have stayed longer and enjoyed the room a bit longer. Great getaway spot for us as a young couple!

Review 33:No Parking, we were able to feed a meter of park in a lot or street parking for free a couple of blocks away.

Review 34:The location, we walked everywhere. Not having to go by a front desk. It was great to have a living room and separate bedroom. A very comfortable bed. Having a coffee maker, fridge and microwave means that we did not eat out for every meal.

Review 35:Aged decor, really only a couple rooms above a restaurant. No front desk, had to get staff from restaurant (who were very helpful) to check in. No conditioner or body lotion in room. Two noisy window air conditioners.

Review 36:Location was great, within walking distance of all downtown.

Review 37:-wrinkly tan sheets - prefer crisp white sheets that you know are clean -carpet

Review 38:-excellent location to see downtown Halifax -overtop of Brits Fish and Chips shop, great deep fried food ( even a Mars Bar) and you get a discount -self-contained unit -fantastic clean bathroom

Review 39:toilet didn't flush very well, and could do with purchasing new towels.

Review 40:Excellent location, just steps away from all the shops, restaurants and waterfront. The room was spacious and excellent value. I would definitely stay here again!

Review 41:Parking- it is a nightmare. Furniture and tv are extrememely dated Bed is uncomfortable Jacuzzi hot tub is incapable of being filled with hot water- ran out of hot water and it was half empty.

Review 42:After travelling numerous hours to get there, drove around and around looking for parking space. Booking.com clearly states parking available. Loud, wild party in room near us that first night meant zero sleep. We booked 8 nights, stayed one. Under conditions, still penalized us and charged extra night. Never again!

Review 43:Parking was a major hassle and had to park in a parade 1 1/2 blocks away and nothing was stated that parking would be difficult. They also stated that it was a luxurious apartment but the carpets we stained, the bathroom was tiny and the TVs and cable were archaic.

Review 44:Like the location and that it had a kitchen. Plus it was very spacious.

Review 45:It was a little on the pricey side, $170 taxes in, given that it was a suite and not a hotel with a gym/pool etc. But given the location and what was available in terms of space it was still a good value for money.

Review 46:Great location. 10-15 walk from the Charlottetown event grounds. Located on the same block as the Shops of Confederation Court Mall. A/C. Fridge, mini-kitchen, utensils, full bath, etc. Discount at Brit's Fish and Chips.

Review 47:The suites is home away from home.

Review 48:Too expensive

Review 49:Excellent location

Review 50:Very close to everything, great value for room rate.Would definitely go again

Review 51:Nothing

Review 52:Location was perfect!!!!!

Review 53:Location and privacy

Review 54:There isnt a lot of spots which are pet friendly in charlottetown. That had affected how long we were able to stay.

Review 55:The convince. It was close to everything. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. Also nice towels.

Review 56:Central location - spacious and practical flat.

Review 57:Stale smell...so opened a window.

Review 58:Having a living room area. . Location

Review 59:Great location,spacious room.

Review 60:İt is an expensive place and the furnitures are not good.

Review 61:Great location, quiet and private suite

Review 62:excellent central location, friendly and accomodating staff

Review 63:Room was cozy and quaint. Location was amazing! The staff were fantastic, so accommodating. Definitely stay at Mermaid again.

Review 64:Floor uneven.

Review 65:Close to everything!!

Review 66:The suites were great, and it was close to everything we wanted to do. The fish and chips were great too.

Review 67:Parking is not very convenient with meters on the street or remote parkades.

Review 68:The suite (300) was clean and spacious with plenty of room to relax. Wi-fi worked well and we used it a lot during our stay. The location in the centre of town is convenient and within a few minutes walk to many stores and restaurants or for sightseeing.

Review 69:The view was of a back alley - but, that was not much of a problem because I took it for the location and was so busy I only slept there

Review 70:Good value for the money.

Review 71:Location, fact that we had two separate sleeping rooms (great when there is a snorer in the group), value, the extra things in the room like wine glasses, two TVs, GREAT wi-fi discount at Brits, ease of being able to walk around the main area of Charlottetown within quick walking distance, it felt like a 'home away from home'. Highly recommend!

Review 72:No screen for the bedroom window so we couldn't leave it open. No fan. It got warm and stuffy. We had to go buy a small fan from Walmart. No outside view. Windows in our unit were only looking over roof and building. No big deal to me but might be to some. Parking was a problem.

Review 73:It was downtown Charlottetown. Owners are real nice and more than willing to help with anything.

Review 74:We prefer a kingsize bed when we travel , and the on street parking is not what we would prefer ..

Review 75:The location of this property is as good as it gets . Walking distance to all of the cities attractions and restaurants .The suite was roomy , enjoyed separate rooms . It had everything we required .

Review 76:No parking for guests with a vehicle. Not that it is needed because of the great location! But somewhere to park your vehicle during your stay.

Review 77:The apartment was very cozy & nice, the staff was friendly and helpful. I very much enjoyed the discount and food at Brits fish & chips

Review 78:There is no on-site parking, but there is a parkade nearby for 7$ a day, so not bad. When we were there, the kitchenette did not have many dishes. Otherwise, everything was great!

Review 79:Staff were very friendly. We had to go to the fish and chips restaurant downstairs to get our key etc...we stayed in the most economical suite and it was nice. There was a separate bedroom, a living room and a small kitchenette. The place was roomy and clean. It was in downtown Charlottetown so it was a great location. We got a great rate for it as well. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 80:Parking during the day but at night no problem. Lack of a check in spot but the people at the fish and chips place are awesome!!

Review 81:Absolutely gorgeous. Don't be deceived by the outside! Fabulous staff and such a great location!!

Review 82:I thought the kitchen/bathroom could use a redo. The carpets weren't super clean. And you had to find your own parking.

Review 83:The location in downtown Charlottetown was brilliant. The separate pull out couch bed was fine for the kids and the guy who checked us in was nice, friendly and informative. Can't say enough for him.

Review 84:The odour coming from the drains was horrible. They never cleaned the room during our week long stay. No clean towels were provided. There were ants and ant traps in the room. The water pressure was very low. We had no water the first day so they gave us some money back.

Review 85:It was spacious.

Review 86:I found out while we were staying there that we could have got it much cheaper as we seen an offer for the same room at a better price. Would have been nice to get the same offer.

Review 87:it was a great value and the whole week there was excellent. We had a great night's sleep every night and the room was very clean. It was like having our own apartment. Location is great also as everything in Charlottetown was in walking distance from our room

Review 88:I thought the garbage should have been removed more frequently.

Review 89:I liked the fact it was pretty much hassel free , i asked to check out a little late and i was accomidated as much as they could do

Review 90:ロケーション。レセプションも兼ねている1階のフィッシュ&チップス店で15%割引になるのもお得でした。 Location was great. Also 15% discount at fish & chips store downstairs was nice (there is no reception for hotel, so you shall check-in here) .

Review 91:-smoking smell in halls -parking on street -communication with management could improve -lighting was a bit too dim

Review 92:-Brit's Fish and Chips (Mark was amazing) restaurant below accommations -space -pigeons cooing in mornings -design of loft

Review 93:just a note the window in suite 202 in the master bed room will not lock, and the back up beeping of the delivery trucks started way to earlier i no you can not control that but if you could look in to it, it may be keeping potential repeat clients from returning.

Review 94:I have stayed at the inn several times and i in enjoy the great location, it has the feel of home when you are living out of a suite case. it is the small details that keep me coming back as well the fish and chips may have something to do with that as well. i will continue to stay at the inn when i come to the Island.

Review 95:The Mermaid is a treasure in the heart of Charlottetown. The location was fabulous, the staff was extremely helpful and attentive to our needs and requirements. The suite was clean, and well maintained. I would certainly recommend it to friends and family.

Review 96:Upgraded my accomodations

Review 97:Street noise was noticeable, but got quieter after midnight.

Review 98:Location in downtown Charlottetown - close to everything. Suite was very quiet inside.

Review 99:Convenient location, helpful staff. Fun to say "I'm staying in a room over a pub".

Review 100:We really liked the space. It was cleanly, a good amount of space, and worth the money!

Review 101:Could have used a few more glasses. Not much of a complaint!!!

Review 102:Everything

Review 103:no parking

Review 104:location,food. suites nice lots of space

Review 105:No breakfast included.

Review 106:Right downtown close to shopping and Province House.

Review 107:Water pressure in the shower would fluctuate greatly.

Review 108:Great location in the middle of Charlottetown and very clean.

Review 109:In the center of town. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 110:it was all good as always

Review 111:Excellent location; very quiet!
