Reviews for Hotel Limmathof
Review 1:Stairs to reception
Review 2:Location is unbeatable for any train transfers, just opposite the station and within the Niederdorf restaurant area.Very good value for money if on short overnight trips.
Review 3:Rooms are a little dated and don't feel completely clean. However they were fine for a less than two-night stay.
Review 4:Fantastic positioning to get to and from the train station as well as to bars/restaurants/cafes nearby. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Review 5:Reception is located on mid-floor. I had to drag my pretty heavy suitcase throu 10-12 steps
Review 6:Location - v. near the main train station, on the edge of the old town. Quite spacious room Wi-Fi in the room
Review 7:The breakfast wasn't that good. There were no slippers in the room
Review 8:The elevators were fast and so I didn't have to wait a lot. Rooms had safes(very useful) bathroom was vomfortable and clean
Review 9:Breakfast not included in the price.
Review 10:Excelent location in the heart of the city and a stone's throw from Zurich HB. Fantastic views from our room, which faced the river and main street.
Review 11:To start off, we stayed nights in which we met more than 8 members of staff, 7 were grumpy and looked annoyed and did not help at all with directions, and only one nice lady who suggested a few places to see when we asked her. The hotel door was closed after midnight, we went back at 12:47 and the door was locked, we had to ring the bell many times for the grumpy receptionist to open the door for us. The room was not clean at all, there was dust on the heater and under the bed. There was a closet but the doors didn't open fully because there was a table next to the closet which prevented us from using the mirror because it was fixed on the inside of the closet door. The shower is very old and the hose was a bit short and water pressure was a bit weak. The lighting in the room was very weak as well. And somehow, the duvet was a bit short and did not cover the whole bed... The location was the only positive thing about this hotel.
Review 12:The location was convenient, nothing else.
Review 13:Reserved a double room but accommodated in a single room. Sound leakage from the upstairs room and both adjacent rooms was terrible.
Review 14:Room charge was reasonable compared with other hotels in Zurich. Close to the central station and city central. A bathtub was equipped in the room.
Review 15:I spent a lot of time in Zurich and every time I went I booked this hotel becuase the location is great: it's near the Central Station, Bellevue Square and the centre. The staff is polite, the rooms confortable and clean.
Review 16:No kettle Bed, comforter and pillow not comfortable Cramped shower Heavy door key - where other hotels are using keycards
Review 17:Location was good - within walking distance of HB, tram 10 to airport was right outside, daytime staff was friendly. Early check in was possible Lift available
Review 18:No fridge & hairdryer(you have to ask for it in the reception) in the room.
Review 19:A very picturesque, clean, comfortable & welcome 2-star hotel in the heart of Zurich. Value for money in comparison to other hotels in the city center and in an ideal location.
Review 20:The room could have a little more lighting. It was difficult sometimes with the low light settings
Review 21:Its a simple hotel with all basic facilities. Given the prices in Zurich. The price was good for the location.
Review 22:Noise outside, the rooms are not very well insulated from the street noise. Small rooms, very basic, budget hotel. WAY OVERPRICED. THIS IS NOT 88 Euro a night hotel. this is budget hotel asking the price of 3 or 4 star hotel. You are basically paying for location.
Review 23:Locatio, Location, Location, close to old town and Zurich HB. Veru clean!
Review 24:It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room for coffee/tea. The television got many channels but 100% German or dialectal Swiss German (aside from a channel that did Rhæto-Romasch news in the middle of other German programming). I found that weird for a multilingual country.
Review 25:Staff was very courteous. The room was actually a little bigger than I expected from what I had read. The window faced the inside of the block so there was no view but also no noise, despite being in the middle of the city (and near, but not right next to, some sketchy bars). It is expensive for what you get, but *not at all for central Zürich*.
Review 26:1. Staff wasn't able to connect two bookings from the same family. 2. Staff did not follow request (during booking) when they were asked to put family together. 3. The access with large luggage was not convenient and no help was offered by hotel. 4. Rates were expensive compared to overall quality of hotel.
Review 27:1. Location was excellent. Good shopping area and easy to find food. 2. Rooms were clean and well maintained.
Review 28:The breakfast at the hotel could have been better. Offered very limited choice . The view from my room wasn't what I hoped to be.
Review 29:The staff are extremely friendly& helpful. location is fantastic .very central close to the train station&trams.
Review 30:nothing to complain.
Review 31:What I like most is the location. The staffs are nice, they speak English well and instructed me well. The internet in the room is very good.
Review 32:Beds low to the floor. Pillows were feather & very flat, only 1 pillow per bed. Not a deal breaker, though.
Review 33:The location was perfect & easy to get to by foot from train station. The room was huge & warm. The tub was fabulous. I'd stay with them again.
Review 34:Although the room was smoke free, it smelt of cigarette smoke and the wife was slow.
Review 35:Great location, walking distance to the town, city Centre, shopping district, Hauptbanhof and the lake.
Review 36:Nothing.
Review 37:The location itself. Near to the main station only 5 minutes walk. Near to restaurant and cafe, lovely stay. Dont forget to try polybahn near the hotel.
Review 38:Rooms are not good soundproof, too noisy.
Review 39:It is really perfect location. Very close to Main station and there are lots of lines of tram in front of this hotel.
Review 40:The room was in bad shape. Peeling paint on the walls. Out dated and poor quality furniture. It just didn't seem clean nor in very good shape. The room felt more like a half-way house than a hotel room.
Review 41:Great location near the train station.
Review 42:Bathroom quite small, very little soap/shampoo comes in a small paper back, and thus get spilled while opening
Review 43:Excellent location, near train, tram , city center, old town and ETH (University). room was good, with good bed and desk; closing windows largely removed street noise
Review 44:Electrical points require attention. No hairdryer. Requires renovation to modernise. No English speaking programs on the television.
Review 45:Great location.
Review 46:Poor breakfast which was too expensive for what the hotel offers.
Review 47:The location. The nice guy, Marcelo, at the breakfast room. He really made my day. Polite and cheerful he made the difference, considering the expensive and poor breakfast.
Review 48:Internet connection needs to be improved.
Review 49:Right by the Polybahn funicular which was fun and close to the train station, grocery store and old town. Room was comfortable although bed frame was squeaky. Bathroom is nice.
Review 50:Rooms very very old, furniture, wall tissue paper. Bed sheets for a child (about 1,5 sq meter), lucky i had two beds, i had to use both. No breakfeast. Zurich is expensive but for a bit more € there are other options too consider.
Review 51:Location is very good, 5m from sbb station and located in the middle of everything. Backroom is quiet, even though the road passes near.
Review 52:Very close to Zurich HB railway station. Price / quality correlation at expected level. Room was small, but comfortable. Bad and toilet room was clean and tidy with enough towls. Wi-Fi was arranged and worked properly. The only remark is that pillow was inconvenient. Bad was OK. Breakfast was quite shy: just tea or coffee, croissant, bread and muesli. But the price was just 10 franks.
Review 53:I would suggest an electric kettle to boil water would be a great assistance for travellers.
Review 54:I liked the location, so close to the main railway station.
Review 55:Excellent location just across the river from the train station and within walking distance of all the city centre attractions Staff were very helpful and all 3 reception staff spoke good English. My single room was small and immaculately clean having everything I needed for a short stay.
Review 56:No bad experiences and have been there several times!
Review 57:For my business purposes it is excellent! It is immaculately clean, warm, quiet and close to the essential transport. There is a wonderful view of the Lake, shops and cafes within seconds! Kind helpful staff! Above all it is a safe haven for visitors to come and go in Zurich
Review 58:the staff are friendly and helpers. near with the public transport. middle of town. easy access. lots of cafe and restaurant. one halal food cafe at the corner.
Review 59:No hot flask to boil water. Pretty noisy during the night as it is close to main road
Review 60:Location is the best. 5 Mins walk to super market, Train station and old Zurich CIty.
Review 61:The location was amazing - so close to everything that you'd want to see. Although the room was basic, it was clean and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
Review 62:Room is old with old furniture. View of other buildings behind the hotel.
Review 63:Location - right next to Central Tram Station, 2 mins walk to the main train station and Banhoffstrasse.
Review 64:See above.
Review 65:Nothing. This is the worst hotel I have stayed in Switzerland. Noisy, stuffy room. We had to open windows to breathe. There was only one wall socket for 2 lamps. The breakfast was limited and still cost 10 Francs.
Review 66:Breakfast could be little better.
Review 67:Excellent location across the Main Train Station and Tram Station. 24 hr Reception. Helpful staff. Nothing luxurious but with all basic facilities.
Review 68:I needed to wait for a hotel staff at the reception for a while, but it was not a big problem.
Review 69:It was in good location; near from the main train station, a big supermarket and town centre. The room was simple, clean and omfortable.
Review 70:it was written that there is a free wifi in all rooms, which is not true. It didn't even show up in the list of wifi on my phone, same problem had people in another room. Staff said to us that they have wifi and that's it. It is a good place for 1 night, but not for holiday. There are also 10-15 stairs before lift. We had vey heavy luggage, that was very uncomfortable.
Review 71:Location is very good, close to main station in Zurich
Review 72:It was like being teleported back to the 1960's! Out of date decor and could do with an uplift. Bed was not the best either.
Review 73:It was like being teleported back to the 1960's! Out of date decor.
Review 74:The furniture is very old and there's no coffee/tea maker in the room.
Review 75:The hotel has a great location, it's within walking distance to the main train station near supermarket, restaurants and shops.
Review 76:Well, it is really a two stars hotel, in all aspects, but seriously overpriced. But it's Zurich so to get a lower price in the town you must stay in a hostel...:(
Review 77:location, for one night transit is ok
Review 78:Limited breakfast for 10 CHF. We chose not to have breakfast at the hotel.
Review 79:Excellent location right across from the train station. It was quiet at night despite being in the heart of the old town and having windows open.
Review 80:The only problem was that the Internet was not working at all that evening. I asked at the reception and they were very kind, but couldn't resolve it. Only when I asked for a discount of the price they became very motivated and fixed it in the next 15 minutes. I'm happy they did that, I really needed to get my work done!
Review 81:Very clean and comfortable. Fabulous location, dead center of Zurich. Would stay here again.
Review 82:Very noisy on our last night before facing up to a long flight home. We were told that we should have requested a room at the back of the hotel. Point taken.
Review 83:The hotel was simple but in an excellent position. A reasonable price for being so close to the train and trams and in a lively area with lots of restaurants, bars etc. I would suggest asking for a room on a higher floor and facing the rear street if you want a quiet nights sleep. Excellent breakfast for the cost . All in all, a nice hotel to spend time in, in expensive Zurich.
Review 84:Fortunately we had a high room with two windows for cross breeze. But the street noise was still a little disruptive through the night with the windows open. Earplugs are wonderful.
Review 85:Great location. I arrived early in the morning and my daughter joined me later in the evening with a mid-morning train departure. When I arrived at 1030, they allowed me to check in immediately, which I greatly appreciated after 23 hours traveling. It was easy access to the Bahn to meet my daughter. Easy to take a quick glance at the city the next morning. The staff was pleasant and spoke English. Surprisingly affordable for Zurich.
Review 86:Pillows...
Review 87:The staff is fantastic. I asked them a quiet room and I was attended with sympathy. The hotel is clean, the location is just perfect for the summer - close to HB, close to Letten - limat river swimming area. I am coming back
Review 88:Extremely expensive, poor facilities and comfort (poor breakfast, no air conditioning, extremely noisy ventilator, extremely noisy environment and street).
Review 89:Excellent location, just near the central station
Review 90:breakfast filling but would be nice to have eggs or fruit vs. just bread... ok for one night but if a week the breakfast would get tiring (just cereal and bread)... coffee great and friendly staff though
Review 91:great location friendly staff very clean room comfortable bed let me check in early
Review 92:The rooms facing the street can be very noisy but fan can reduce the sounds. The pillows were flat.
Review 93:Location was excellent. Near the main train station and bus stop is also near as well as cwntral tram stops is just in fornt of it. Starbucks in the same building and alot of restaurants in the same line. Cleanliness. Wifi was very good. Staff were nice and speak English. Price as well compared with nearby hotels is very reasonable. It may coast you more than double for next door hotel.
Review 94:Zurich is an expensive city-Hotel Limmathof was a good value! It was one of the least expensive options in the Old Town/train station area. I knew it wouldn't be the best hotel ever and it was great for a budget priced hotel. It was very clean, basic but comfortable room, in a great location.
Review 95:Ugly rooms. Such an old paint job it looked dirty (although room was clean enough and bedding was great). They could really make the place so much better by painting and replacing the furniture. The single room that I saw was horrible. Like a school dorm. Tiny bed size for a child. Even tinier bathroom.
Review 96:Location is great. Close to central station. At first they put me in a single room overlooking the highway which was incredibly noisy. I asked to move and the man at the desk was great. He moved me straight away to a double facing the internal courtyard which was nice and quiet. Double room was much bigger and the bathroom was huge. Bed was really comfy. Even though the room was very dated and ugly... I had a great sleep on this bed. So I was reasonably happy in the end.
Review 97:The noise isolations of the windows are not very good and there were constructions on the tram at night just in front of the hotel. So there was a lot of noise at night due to traffic and construction work.
Review 98:Bad breakfast just bread and not even fruits. Very noisy but ok, we reached at night and area looked shabby. Good for overnight stay.
Review 99:Location is near to Station. Room is nice.
Review 100:Dont look out the windows, close to another building. Wont recommend family with kids
Review 101:Locatuon: near zurich station and coop. Good for a night to catch early flight from zurich airport as total journey was made in half hour. Efficient check in and out. Very narrow room
Review 102:The pillows was flat. Very flat. The rooms faced the streets make you feel that you are in the street.
Review 103:Location was excellent. Near main train station and bus terminal and central. Very clean. Wifi is very good Fan is also good Stayed in ro 75 and was soo quite and quite big. The staff are wonderful and speak English fluently. They are very helpful. Starbucks is in the same building and many restaurants in the same line.
Review 104:In the summer, the room is hot and there is only a small desk fan. Then you need to sleep with the window open, but there are the street noise. And in summer, the city can start a renovation or construction of the streets at 6AM !!! ... ;-(
Review 105:Perfect location, only 2 minutes walking from train central station. It is near the sights. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Review 106:The room was a good for what I needed it for. The location of the hotel is excellent. Everyone at the hotel is very nice. The internet in the room is good.
Review 107:no air conditioning. In 37 degrees unbearable. No frigobar I need to keep eyedrops (they put them in the kitchen, but it meant I had to go down every evening). Difficult staircase if you come with luggage.
Review 108:Location, friendliness and cleanliness.
Review 109:We were on the 4th floor. No air con and the room was hotter than a sauna. They provide a small desk fan which helped to move the hot air around. Very hard to sleep. We thought about dragging our mattress to the outside corridor which was cooler! Would not stay here again in summer. Rooms could do with an update it was pretty old and tired.
Review 110:Good location near railway station & old town
Review 111:The room was very hot and stuffy with no a/c but there was a fan provided which helped. Room was small and typical of a budget hotel but for the price it suited me just fine
Review 112:The location was amazing. Right by central station, old town and the river. For the location and the price I couldn't have done better! Plenty of shopping and restaurants around as well
Review 113:The rooms have no air conditioning; since it was very hot during my stay I had to keep the windows opened, but on the back there is a noisy trafficked road.
Review 114:Wonderful position, close to ...everything!
Review 115:No airconditioner. Only table fan. Very warm in the room. My chocolate bar for snack had melted before I had the chance to eat it.
Review 116:Great location, friendly staff & clean room.
Review 117:Bad attitude staff with no service mind especially the lady with initial JS. You have to climb up stairs to get to the reception. Troublesome for those with huge luggage.
Review 118:Location is great
Review 119:No A C, so we needed to have window open. Fan was provided . As it was Friday night the noise from local bars and traffic was very loud!! Very hard to sleep. After the bars closed the street cleaners came out.
Review 120:Friendly staff. Very kind and helpful , I'm technically challenged but came to room to set up wifi and make sure it worked.
Review 121:I had forgotten from my youth days that there are 11 steps up before you reach the lobby. I am just a little bit too old to have to walk up stairs with luggage. Certain parts of the room could have been more swiss-cleaned instead of immigrant-cleaned. Different culture different standards of cleanliness...Swiss used to be spotless -- no longer at any star...no longer
Review 122:68
Review 123:No air conditioning so had to leave window open...Street below very noisy at night. The many stairs were a problem at front entrance for my elderly mother to reception but found we could enter hotel from back.
Review 124:Within walking distance to train station. Clean. Next to Starbucks as hotel does not offer refreshments or breakfast. Zurich is expensive for accomodation so we had to accept this was the best we could do on our budget. Proximity to station made up for other inadequacies. Guy on reception pleasant and spoke good English.
Review 125:very good location, very close to the central station. the room is big enough to commodate our family. I booked a double room, but mentioned our son stayed with us, they arranged a room with three beds to us. Very considerate arrangement.
Review 126:The wardrobe and door were a bit dysfunctional, but not a big deal.
Review 127:Loved the surroundings and the location. Service was fast and responsive and the staff were very eager to assist. Breakfast was outstanding!
Review 128:It was a very small room a little noisy and quite expensive but that is Switzerland It was very hot weather and the small fan in the room wasn't much help
Review 129:Just a few minutes from the Bahnhof and right at the start of the Niederdorf which has plenty of good eating and quieter than the Limmatquai
Review 130:Advertised a lift but numerous steps at entrance to reception. No air con. Just a desk fan. Room key needed to be left at reception when going out!
Review 131:Location to Central Station
Review 132:No Aircon the the room but a fan made a bit of difference!!
Review 133:Good location for the tram or train from main station to airport with stop almost right outside!!! Only had one night here but would use again for a Zurich stay!!
Review 134:The room was small, extremely hot, the window could not fully be opened, because of the street noise. There was just a little ventilator in the room..
Review 135:Location
Review 136:having to drag my heavy luggage up a set of stairs to get to the reception is no longer acceptable, as well, there are other similar style hotels like Hotel Arlette that have air conditioning in this past very hot summer..
Review 137:location
Review 138:No hair dryer. Too hard to manage water warmth in shower and water drained very slowly in bathtub. Old furniture.
Review 139:Great location, 3 min walking distance from train station. Friendly sruff.
Review 140:The Lady on Reception was very nice & helpful however I found The Shower a little small as it was easy to hit the water regulator & turn the water temp up also extra more secure door locks would make people feel better
