Reviews for Aava Whistler Hotel

Review 1:Hotels in Whistler are so pricy in winter. Avaa is in nice location, but is overpriced like all other hotels nearby. The hotel and the facilities are a bit old and breakfast is very simple. But you don't have much choice as nicer ones are way more expensive.

Review 2:Location is good.

Review 3:The coffeemachine in the lobby, the beds and the hottub. The possibility to have an early breakfast at the hotel. Restaurants in the village don't open before 08:00.

Review 4:Location was perfect just in the village. Staff is very friendly and helpful. After we;ve already checked out we were still allowed to use hot tub. Thank you for that after whole day skiing it was awesome :)

Review 5:Very thing walls. You can hear your neighbors slightest noises.

Review 6:Great location - within walking distance to "downtown" Whistler village and lifts. Staff was very friendly and helped us navigate the area. BlackTie ski rentals right from lobby makes for easy pick-up and drop-off

Review 7:The room wasn't very soundproof. We were in the east wing and there were kids running around the hallway yelling at each other and knocking on each others doors -- all of this was very loud and can be clearly heard from the room. There was music blaring from one room and TV noise from the other room we were sandwiched between.

Review 8:Location was great, right across from the village. The underground parking was great but to charge parking for 2 day during a 1 night stay seems excessive.

Review 9:No room service. Change rooms for pool/hot tub weren't great. Phone in room wasn't working properly(it didn't affect my stay, but others might care about that)

Review 10:Location was awesome. Room was clean and comfortable.

Review 11:I was disappointed in the cleaning. I paid for a bed and my daughter couldn't use it because it was not clean. My company and I have been coming up to whistler for 3 years and I'm sorry to say but we will not be staying there next year.

Review 12:The stuff was great.

Review 13:Me and fiance got into a argument at 10 am in morning and had also got in a bad car accident 2 days before and was banged up pretty bad I don't know if staff thought she did the bruises to me but it was from the accident and they asked us to leave without even talking to me first so I got charged for 2 nights but only stayed 1 cause was asked to leave

Review 14:Nice room

Review 15:Bed was very soft (might be a plus for you), loud hallways - when people come in late from partying, not the most sound proof room. The $20 a night parking is steep.

Review 16:Loved the pool and hot tub, the location, the clean hotel and rooms, the location.

Review 17:I really liked how close the hotel was to the village while still remaining on the outskirts of all the walking traffic. We had a mountain view room that overlooked a large field and was extremely quiet. I highly recommend requesting the mountain view.

Review 18:Bed wasn't super comfortable, bit loud but that's pretty standard for whistler. Curtain missing from top window made room really bright for sleeping.

Review 19:Staff friendly, rooms finished nicely. Great location.

Review 20:There was ants in our hotel room, as well as we had to go back to the front desk numerous times because our key card would not work. There was dogs on our floor which we were not aware of that barked at all hours keeping us awake at all hours of the night.

Review 21:should have the Microwave as well. Check out is 11:00 am but can stay till 12:00 pm, so it means if cleaners coming to the room for cleaning before 12:00, they should knock at the door first not straight come to inside the room.

Review 22:It was close to everything. Nice place to visit and have everything on walking distance. Excellent staff and perfect room included so many facilities. Everything was perfect.

Review 23:Water pressure in wash basin and shower was not good Check out time as per international norms is 12 noon but it was 11 am,they were flexible to extend till 12,contrary to international hotels which usually are flexible to extend till 2 pm without any charge. One king bed or Two queen are usually same price but they charged 50$ to provide 2 queen for 3 persons instead of 2

Review 24:Location was very good and overall ambiance was also pleasant

Review 25:- Can hear people walking and talking outside and waking upstairs - Mattress had an upper layer that was too hot. Ended up removing at 2am.

Review 26:Good Location

Review 27:Very noisy couple in the next door room although this is not the hotel's fault.

Review 28:Excellent location. Tidy, warm rooms. Room was ready for our arrival at 10am even though check-in is at 4pm.

Review 29:Pay for parking

Review 30:Great location close to all restaurant etc Reception great service We got an umbrella when it was raining free However parking charges a bit high at 19 dollars day

Review 31:The bathroom was so tiny which was surprising considering our room was a Delux King. We also asked for an upper level room with a view and received a room on a lower level with a view on the main road which was disappointing.

Review 32:The room was nice, clean and comfortable and the bed was so comfortable.

Review 33:Within 30 minutes of checking in, cleaning personnel walked into our room as we were getting changed and getting ready to leave for a wedding. There needs to be better communication between the front desk and the cleaning staff. Not impressed.

Review 34:Only 2 pods for coffee machine ever left in room and no tea bags.

Review 35:Beautiful hotel. Spotlessly clean. Perfect location close to the village and all the activities.

Review 36:1.Children running and screaming in the hall. Plus, adults talking very loudly while walking to their rooms. Both woke me up three times. I know this has nothing to do with the hotel, but it was my experience.

Review 37:1.Everyone was very friendly including the cleaners who asked me about my race in the elevator. 2.The location 3.Bike storage 4.hot tub and pool

Review 38:The Staff at the Front Desk were very friendly! We had an issue with an expired credit card but the gal helping walked us through the solution and everything went well.

Review 39:Good location, the rooms were typical size, bathrooms were nice, beds fine but lumpy pillows. Expensive parking (parked elsewhere nearby for less). They add fees for ever extra like changing to a king bed, late check out etc. Besides this, the hotel and stay was fine for a short stay

Review 40:Highly responsive staff. Were able to meet all of our special requests without any sense of it being a challenge. Westin-style service at an affordable rate.

Review 41:Not very friendly staff. Did not see the note about the parking. $19.00/nite for parking after paying $150 for a hotel room is ridiculous. I would put it in the "gouging" column.

Review 42:Location was good - close to golf course

Review 43:Room was over a gathering area that people used too early in the morning.

Review 44:The bed was very comfortable, staff were all friendly and helpful. Location was great.

Review 45:The walls are really thin and I wished there was a restaurant to order from the hotel rather than the delivery service.

Review 46:I liked that it was close to the village but away from heavy foot traffic from the village.

Review 47:We enjoyed the use of two bicycles for free for the first two hours. We also enjoyed the hot tub and the pool. The location is really great because it's very close to the village

Review 48:paid for hotel parking is ridiculous even though I am a guest. Swimming pool is kind of small.

Review 49:great location to walk to shops and restaurants and leave car in hotel garage.

Review 50:No restaurant facilities at all. Coffee maker in room, but not even juice, coffee, or donuts/pastries in lobby. Had to pay for parking.

Review 51:Good location.

Review 52:Didn't honor special requests for the room stated some excuse there computer system doesn't recognize requests from other sites. No restaurant. Carpet stained, furniture worn, staff distracted by there phones

Review 53:Close to the village

Review 54:The bikes available for free, which can also be rented if you go beyond 2 hours are essentially simple 3 gear bikes better suited for beach cruising. They're good enough to go on the street but not if you're tackling any hills.

Review 55:Efficient check-in, comfy bed, free bikes for 2 hours and friendly front desk staff. This is a bigger hotel which looks a bit more impersonal but front of house makes it warmer. Had a great last minute deal for one night and would've extended if they had room.

Review 56:No breakfast.

Review 57:Location was excellent! Staff was very friendly and helpful - especially with details about village/highway closures due to the Ironman race going on. Allowed us to stay parked past checkout time as we had nowhere to go :)

Review 58:The Aava was in a great location, just a short walk through a beautiful treed walkway to the main downtown core. Handy to check out the shops or dine out, yet away from the busyness when we wanted to relax!

Review 59:The comfort of the Aava was relaxing and enjoyable for my son and I. Mountain biking and the secure valet for our bikes , was excellent . Friendly staff and warm smiles, I say that's a rap....thank you

Review 60:No breakfast included, no kettle in the room. Hotel lifts and aisles were uncomfortably hot.

Review 61:Great location within easy walking distance of Whistler village, clean and comfortable, good wifi.

Review 62:$19 daily charge for parking, hence car park nearly empty.

Review 63:Great location near the centre of Whistler; comfortable room and bed; quick check-in and check-out; convenient access to highway.

Review 64:The most difficult part of Whistler was figuring out the parking, but the hotel staff helped us with that.

Review 65:Very nice hotel. Our room was comfortable and we took advantage of the guest laundry facilities. We were happy to be able to park the car in one of the available free lots, and then walk to everywhere we wanted to go in the village.

Review 66:The wing I was in (West wing I think) is too close to the highway. Although the view is not bad, you can hear traffic especially if you need to open the window.

Review 67:Nice big room. Reasonable price. Good bed.

Review 68:lousy bikes that made for bad experience biking through area even on paved paths. If going to offer bikes, at least make them more appropriate for area terrain and use. Need to flip or replace mattress because sags

Review 69:great room, great service, great location

Review 70:Room was little dusty, may be need to clean/ vacuum Air Conditioner before use? It was over 90 degrees F when we stayed there!

Review 71:Convenient location for a walk to village, shopping/ restaurants/ Gondola rides / bike-hike trails

Review 72:Really grossed out that the coffee cups are just poorly wiped down instead of actually cleaned. Had to wash all coffee cups and glasses in sink before using them because some one else's lip prints and coffee drips were still on mugs :( Unfortunately this isn't unusual at most hotels - still gross though.

Review 73:The location was awesome and the staff were very nice.

Review 74:Superior King room was Very underwhelming. Much smaller than the deceiving pictures showed. Snack tray was "included," but not free. Toilet stopped flushing the first evening. Called the front desk, and a guy came to fix it while we went to dinner. Fixed by the time we got back. location on the back side of the village by the pitch n put, so a bit of a walk.

Review 75:comfortable bed, friendly staff

Review 76:No breakfast or dinning options in hotel. Bed was memory foam so not as comfortable but it was huge

Review 77:Rooms were big. Nice view. Great location. Pool and spa were clean and warm. Good facilities in the room. My parents got upgraded foc

Review 78:No towels at the pool, sauna was off and took awhile to heat up. No elevator signs in the parking lot.

Review 79:Comfortable, basic amenities. Great bed, good housekeeping.

Review 80:the hotel was in short walking distance to the village which we found helpful as my husband uses a walking stick.room were very clean and the staff were very helpful.

Review 81:The pool was on the small side, and we were looking forward to using the gym but it was very tiny and the only piece of lifting equipment was out of order.

Review 82:Great rooms! We came for the tough mudder and although their check out time was 12 they let us come back and clean up, and even use the pool after the event, as late as we needed, which was very much appreciated. A pleasant stay right in the heart of Whistler!

Review 83:When we first arrived we got to our room and the bed was broken,so they moved us to another room which after a long drive took a while to get organized. When we got to the new room, the beds were very uncomfortable and the room was very noisy, you can hear everyone upstairs and in the connecting rooms. When I mentioned this as we checked out the guy had just said we should have called down and they would have done something but I disagree. I dnt think at 4-5am when someone is coughing there guts up you can go up and tell them to be quiet, as a guest I would find that rude too. They just need to sound proof. Pool was small. The cleaner kept knocking on door to see when we were leaving on last day as if trying to kick us out 3hours before check out after the worst nights sleep. Just an uncomfortable hotel.

Review 84:The location of the hotel in the village was great.

Review 85:We loved the Aava for many reasons but one was the central location. Easy walking to everywhere. The bed was fantastic. The hotel clean and staff very helpful. Will return

Review 86:The walls a very thin & you can hear everything outside your room. Parking is ridiculous at an extra $19 per night! The rooms are very small & cramped.

Review 87:We liked the modern feel & cleanliness!

Review 88:The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel offered free cruiser bikes to use which we used every day. They also let us use their go pro for free when we went ziplining. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Would stay again.

Review 89:The bed wasn't very comfortable! Both my husband and I agreed it wasn't the best!

Review 90:The location was fantastic, very central to the whistler village. Laundry facilities for own use were a bonus as we had been travelling for a while. Free bike hire great.

Review 91:Really can't think of anything

Review 92:The nicest, most helpful staff I have ever encountered! They are so receptive to individual needs and are so willing to help with any requests. The spa area was wonderful. The room (1 bedroom suite) was perfect! And most importantly they took care of our bikes. No worries about theft as no customer can access the lock up room. An excellent overall experience!

Review 93:Thin walls, large groups of loud party goers in rooms until very late, not great for quiet weekend with young family, loud cleaning staff in hallways in the morning, rooms small

Review 94:Location, quality of linens, value, clean, small but nice pool, staff friendly and helpful

Review 95:Rooms were small and could hear the noise from the hallways, rooms next door and upstairs very clearly - very noisy at night.

Review 96:We liked the bike valet (free), free wifi and overall acceptable cleanliness of the hotel.

Review 97:The hot tub closed to early. The front of the hotel needs a spring Power wash especially the sitting area.

Review 98:Very clean and the location was perfect. The maid on our floor was Very friendly and attentive to our needs.

Review 99:Downfalls... Staff were all a little confused on opening times of pool and gym. Minor, minor inconvenience. Very noisy in the morning at quite an early hour. Mostly through no fault of the hotel itself but, when room doors close they automatically slam and perhaps the walls are lacking much of a noise barrier. Also, housekeeping starts very early- also a little loud.

Review 100:Overall great stay. Clean room, clean facilities, great location

Review 101:I had recommended that i wanted an upper floor room but when i checked in was disappointed to find out that my room was on the first floor. I understand that it is upon availability but another couple that we went with had booked the same room type days after i had booked and they were on the 3rd floor...

Review 102:the walls were very thin and the hotel was quite noisy through the night. Cleanliness could have been slightly improved as the shower curtain and the grout around the shower was not as clean as you might expect.

Review 103:location was perfect just a 2 minute stroll into the village, parking was in a secure underground garage. Rooms were adequate size and guest facilities including gym and sauna were good.

Review 104:Young lady at front desk was very pleasant. They allowed my partner to use business room after morning checkout to do her work while I skied...win win .

Review 105:When we checked in early, we were told our room was not ready yet, but we would be called when it was. We waited and waited, eventually returned to the hotel to find out our room was given away to someone else! Bad start to the vacation. To their credit, the problem was solved fairly quickly by their most senior staff member, and they threw in free parking at checkout for the inconvenience.

Review 106:Bed was uber-comfy. Loved free wi-fi. Hot tub was spacious and great temp. Super convenient location.

Review 107:The walls appear to be paper thin as you can clearly hear any sounds made in the halls, adjacent rooms and from the floors above and bellow.

Review 108:Comfortable beds, close to the ski lifts, convenient access to the village center.

Review 109:The hotel was also SUPER LOUD! Apparently the door is made of paper, because you could hear someone sneeze in the hallway. Now imagine all the drunk people coming and going at midnight...it was miserable. I won't be staying here again.

Review 110:The hotel is a bit off the main drag and has a great hot tub/pool area. The room was pleasantly appointed, nothing too fancy, nothing shabby.

Review 111:The reception staff were just average and not that friendly when my bf and I checked in. The worst part about the hotel was their very thin walls, we could hear every conversation and every person who walked past our door and what the neighbours were talking about. It's quite silly that a hotel which caters for skiers and boarders wouldn't make the building a little more sound proof knowing that at 8 am people are going to be stomping around in ski boots!

Review 112:It's close to the whistler gondolas and right by the village stroll.

Review 113:Very friendly helpful staff. Loved the pool and hot tub great after a day on the mountains. Hotel kept very clean and maintained. Easy walk to food in village, ordered take outs, great location, storage for sports equipment. Just great.really comfy beds spacious room. Fridge and coffee machine.

Review 114:Cleaning was not good, and the breakfast was horrible, it's better to have breakfast in any restaurant of the village

Review 115:Location was good and the rooms are modern

Review 116:From 5am onwards all you could hear was doors slamming. Further the beds were super uncomfortable and pillows seemed old and lumpy. Wouldn't recommend.

Review 117:The hot tub seemed a bit dirty, not very kid friendly. There were only two towels in our room but three people staying in it.

Review 118:It was clean and friendly

Review 119:Pricey (like all hotels in Whistler) which limited our length of stay

Review 120:Flexible staff were great with directions and advice and let us leave our car there after checkout

Review 121:The rooms were very basic for the price we payed it was overpriced. But if you can get a deal then it would be worth the stay. The walls are very thin you can hear everything.

Review 122:It was a great hotel facilities were very nice and location was great away from all the noise in the village but walking distance to all the fun!

Review 123:When in your room, the noise from the hallways (people talking, doors closing) is loud and annoying.

Review 124:The location was great and the staff were very friendly.

Review 125:No room service or restaurant on site

Review 126:Often in whistler it's loud at night even in higher end hotels I had a wonderful sleep and the front desk staff were all above average! Also a very short walk to the village so we didn't have to drive and pay for parking.

Review 127:Woodframe building is very noisy. Excess sound from floor above, people in hallway and through interconnecting door. Mattress was poor. Did not sleep well. Would not stay here again.

Review 128:Location across from conference centre. Clean bathrooms.

Review 129:Their lots of people running around the hallways at night, that said got quiet around 11:30pm as I think most people were there to ski the next day.

Review 130:Clean, nice friendly people at the front desk. Over all a good experience.

Review 131:I felt that size of the television was very small. I had a beautiful king sized bed with nice high ceiling and plenty of wall space and a tiny TV. The tv was dwarfed by the room

Review 132:I really liked the location of the Hotel. Very convenient. I loved that fact that there were lockers and a room to leave gear.
