Reviews for Hotel Des Alpes
Review 1:Friendly staff, most helpful with information on how to get by. Very attentive to the guests' needs. Comfortable and charming rooms with ample size and original decoration.
Review 2:Great and friendly service! The Place has history and charme, and was kept very clean. We had a great view over the alps. I will book this hotel again, next time I visit Champery.
Review 3:Bathroom was in need of repair. Simple stuff that was just neglected like the location of the shower head on the short side of the tub. Why not put it above the long side? Not a big deal, but just annoying. Also, the bathroom was clean for the most part, but it could have used a deep cleaning. Overall, the hotel needed some TLC. All that considered, it was too expensive.
Review 4:The staff was wonderful! They were friendly and very helpful. The room was great (with the exception of the bathroom) and met our needs perfectly. Beds were decent and bedding was clean.
Review 5:The WiFi was a bit spotty in the room (minor gripe), and the location is a bit far from the "action" in Champery.
Review 6:Great staff, good room rate, and an amazing view from our third floor, east facing balcony. A cozy bar with a fireplace to grab a beer before bed. And the included breakfast is nice.
Review 7:Could hear kids screaming outside for 30 min. Ski room did not seem very secured to me. No lock, no code, so accessible to outsiders if no one at the reception
Review 8:Good Breakfast Very nice staff Good location
Review 9:The village may be too quite for people looking for party.
Review 10:Nice and quite village within a stuning valley. Very nice typical swiss chalet with confortable bar.
Review 11:No restaurant in the evening, which s inconvenient. The hotel bar closes early.
Review 12:I was travelling with my 14 year old son and had bed a twin room. The hotel kindly put him in a single room on same floor at no extra charge. A nice thing to do.
Review 13:I stayed here with my 16 year old son - The hotel was iwrfect -our room had a balcony and the room was comfortable and relaxing - The staff were amazing -especially helpful when my son was injured -they were extremely helpful and could not do enough to help ! Thank you all so much !
Review 14:Rooms are usual size. But clean and comfy . Good wifi and telly and spectacular views .
Review 15:The staff were excellent. Very hospitable and arranged an early breakfast at short notice with no fuss whatsoever . We left a bag on the bus and they quickly made all the local phone calls to sort it out. Bus driver appeared 10 mins later with it.
Review 16:Small and very out of date bathroom
Review 17:Friendly, nice bar and food, duvet covers made of nice white cotton. My son's single room had a great bathroom with a balcony!
Review 18:We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is simple, clean, authentic. It has many old things that reminds about last century and makes it authentic. The staff is incredibly helpful and polite. We stayed on the top floor with a window on the ceiling/roof. During the night I could see the stars! The beds were incredibly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was traditional for mountains: cheese, ham, bread, muesli, milk, eggs, fruit and hot drinks. It was great value for money and very welcoming.
Review 19:Loved this hotel. The bedrooms could do with a makeover but the lovely, cosy bar area with its wood burning fire place and the helpfulness of the staff made it a hotel that we will definitely be returning to in the future. There was a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and it was a great price for a hotel in Champery.
Review 20:I only stayed briefly, but the staff was wonderful. This is not a a fancy place, but what it lacks in frills it makes up for in charm and friendliness!
Review 21:We booked this hotel last minute for a family ski holiday in Champéry over New Year so we did not know what to expect but we were delighted with the hotel. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and to help us. Room We booked a double room and a triple room for our kids (14,13,12). The décor is slightly dated but the rooms are clean, warm, comfy beds, plenty hot water for baths, a balcony, excellent free WIFI, large TV with huge selection of channels, plenty room for clothes. The rooms are cleaned everyday which was lovely. Food We booked B&B and the breakfast was very good. Huge selection of delicious breads, croissants, teas, cereals, yoghurts. We also ate in the hotel a few nights and enjoyed the set menu. The staff were all friendly and helpful at mealtimes. Location The bus stops almost right outside regularly so it is very easy to get to the cable car. The bus drivers were also very helpful. Bar There is a lovely cosy bar in the hotel which is perfect for drinks and card games with the kids. On the day of our departure we were leaving at 6am and they left us out coffee, cereal and croissants for breakfast. we also left an important document in the room and they contacted us by email and offered to post to us without us even having to contact them. Champéry is a lovely village and we enjoyed the skiing, skating, swimming and a trip to the thermal park. If we ever return we would definitely go back to Hotel des Alpes. All in all a friendly, cosy, comfortable hotel and very good value for money. A Lucky find for a last minute New Year booking!
Review 22:Nothing
Review 23:Comfortable and friendly
Review 24:The location
Review 25:Breakfast & free Busshuttle, Busstop next door
Review 26:The internet does work well sometimes
Review 27:Staff is excellent.
Review 28:Friendly staff Good breakfast Ski bus just outside the hotel Free Wifi and parking
Review 29:Nothing to dislike
Review 30:Friendly owners Comfortable rooms
Review 31:some on the 70's furniture
Review 32:the "old fashion" feeling
Review 33:The rooms themselves were small and in need of renovation. A simple repaint would have done wonders.
Review 34:Charming traditional Swiss mountain hotel. The breakfast was simple but delicious with a range of different choices.
Review 35:Creaking floorboards may annoy some people but I personally felt it added to the character of this lovely old Swiss house.
Review 36:Great views, located very near the station and close to restaurants. Lovely traditional style with interesting ornaments and real fire in the bar. Simple but good breakfast. We would be happy to return.
Review 37:The price is too high (winter season) for what the hotel offers. The room was tiny, the furniture and bathroom very old, the carpet stained. The entire hotel would need a renovation.
Review 38:Tea making facilities (although when she saw me coming to the bar to get tea, a kettle was provided by the lovely lady who was running the hotel which she brought to the room personally).
Review 39:Brilliant kind and helpful staff, atmosphere, romantic, quiet, clean. Superb skiing hotel!
Review 40:It's expensive, although within the range for Swiss prices. Location is great, decor is great for a traditional Swiss mountain hotel, breakfast was good.
Review 41:The Wifi was a bit weak in the room.
Review 42:The people running the hotel couldn't have been friendlier nor more helpful. It was a pleasure to be there and there is a wonderful little room with a fireplace downstairs where one can sit and play games or just read by the fire. They really went out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel at home. They have a ski room and a boot room which made dealing with the ski equipment so much easier. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 43:Nothing all good.
Review 44:The entire staff were very helpful and provided excellent customer service. The accommodation was as expected and good and breakfast very good. A very friendly and comfortable hotel with great staff and management.
Review 45:nothing
Review 46:Excellent Staff, we enjoyed our stay very much, this is really well located and we received great care and lots of advices about nearby activities for our stay, very good breakfast with plenty of choice to suit everyone, nice view on the mountains!
Review 47:This is a charming hotel, but in an old building, with some squeeky floors or doors. If you do not mind, then this a good choice when visiting Champery and Val d'Illiez.
Review 48:The manager and his wife were extremly friendly to make us feel at home. Breakfast was great. Bed was OK. Location is good for those interested in hiking in nearby mountains (we visited in summer). Close proximity to train station and funicular to the mountains. Good restaurants walking distance.
Review 49:Too pricey for the limited facilities. Small rooms and lack of comfort. A kettle in the room would have been nice. Whilst we were there (March 2013) building work outside was very noisy, starting at 7.30am until late afternoon.
Review 50:The mountain views and the friendly staff, good continental breakfast too.
Review 51:Bed was a bit soft and bouncy, shower had loads of hot water but would benefit from wall attachment for shower head.
Review 52:Very friendly hotel, cosy, quirky attic room but felt it was expensive for the quality of accommodation and no cooked breakfast on offer
Review 53:- Nothing much, but I am looking at the price quality ratio. We paid chf 160,-- per night for the room. This is a lot taking into account it is an average room with no frails (which I do not by the way need)- one has to pay for Wifi which is CHF 5,-- per day which when taking into account the price of CHF 160,-- per day. Location from ski lift not really at walking distance.
Review 54:- The personnel was excellent. Especially the people in the restaurant where we had breakfast were very friendly.
Review 55:I returned to the hotel for an evening drink one night to find the barclosed at 8.30. The restaurant was open in the evening only on aSaturday and Sunday night. Whilst we had booked n a B&B basis, thehotel had the facilities to provide an evening meal, but seemed to turnup the opportunity for which we would have gladly paid.
Review 56:A friendly hotel very conveniently situated for the bus to the Cable Car
Review 57:The rooms aren't hugely luxurious but then you're not paying top end rates. They're practical, comfortable and clean.
Review 58:Sensible price, friendly staff. Hotel has a nice ambience and cosy lounge/bar area. Right near ski bus stop.
Review 59:The price considering the facilities (no bath), the room decor and the room size is extortionate. That is the problem of prices in major ski resorts, it does leave a sour taste in the mouth in otherwise a lovely stay.
Review 60:The hotel is cute with a nice feel. The staff are friendly.
Review 61:lovely little hotel with great breakfast right near the gondola to take up to the Portes de Soleil ski area. Ski shutte is right outside their door. owner is lovely and very accomodating
Review 62:The dinner menu of the restaurant was fixed (only one choice) for 25 CHF (the price is reasonable, I think); the room was a bit cold, especially in bathroom...
Review 63:Very friendly, helpful staff!! Family friendly; Quiet, convenient location for skiing; Reasonable pricing; Nice view; Free parking space for the guests.
Review 64:Nothing.
Review 65:Small friendly hotel with character, convenient for the railway station at Champery-Village. Free ski bus to the main cable car stops right outside the hotel.
Review 66:Standard of the room was dated, particularly the bathroom. Despite being a family room there was no double bed. Acoustics between rooms was poor - talking, footsteps above etc. resulting in several bad nights sleep.
Review 67:Location was great - in the centre of the village with a regular free bus service to the cable car. Breakfast was basic but tasty and ideal in advance of a day's skiing (staff at breakfast were also extremely pleasant). Ski & boot store worked well and prevented messy rooms.
Review 68:Hearing the cars and the loud nightclubbers in the middle of the night (which had nothing to do with the hotel).
Review 69:The easy going and very welcoming owners. The great views and the location.
Review 70:The hotel staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They allowed usto not only choose our room, but keep it on our last day so that wecould leave our luggage and shower after coming off the mountain. Theyalso gave us a card to get 20% off our equipment hire. They werefantastic and made us feel at home. The rooms were lovely, very quaintand homely.
Review 71:Friendly staff and cute alpine style hotel - good value. Get off thetrain at Champery Village and the hotel is 50 meters from the train. Itis a short walk to the cable car up to the ski area which we didn't mindas it allowed us to wander through the pretty village each day andbrowse the shops. If you have skis you might want to take the littleshuttle which goes back and forth, but the ski shop the hotelrecommended kindly let us leave our skis with them each day.
Review 72:The sound isolation is not very good. In the room you can clearly hearif people are talking in a normal tone. The stairs and the beds weresqueaking. But that all can be fixed with earplugs. :-)
Review 73:The staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was good. Liked the chalet-look of the hotel
Review 74:Expensive for the size of room. We had an attic room which restricted headroom in part of the room. The room was also small Any recommendation would depend upon size of room offered and price paid.
Review 75:It is not especially cheap to stay there, or eat/shop in the village. Everything is very expensive in the area.
Review 76:This was a wonderful hotel! It was so easy to get to from the train, easy to get to the mountain, rentals, etc. The view was beautiful and the rooms were very cozy. The staff was incredibly helpful. A perfect place for anyone looking for comfort and an incredibly convenient place to get to the mountain. No complaints--coming back next year! Also--you definitely don't need a car.
Review 77:Nothing really to highlight
Review 78:Real "Swiss" kind of hotel... clean, cosy, perfect.
Review 79:small old rooms
Review 80:bar, breakfast, wifi, location close to station stop
Review 81:No sauna.
Review 82:The atmosphere, family-like warm and helpful. The owners really made every effort to make us feel comfortable and welcome!
Review 83:For skiing the breakfast being served from 08:00 is too late.
Review 84:Relaxing lounge and bar area.
Review 85:Could be better value
Review 86:Location, friendliness of staff, hotel is old with lots of character
Review 87:quadruple room is small, busy road
Review 88:saturday evening fondue, very friendly staff, good breakfast, authentic hotel
Review 89:Room was very small. A long way to the cable at but there is a bus. Make sure the shutters are closed on a windy night
Review 90:Friendly and cosy

Review 94:Alpine style and very helpful and friendly staff. Happy to return again. Excellent location for ski area
Review 95:SLightly small bedroom for two lads.
Review 96:Excellent Breakfast and good hospitality...
Review 97:- Too much traffic in front of the hotel - No view on the nature - Obsolete
Review 98:Good sound in the room
Review 99:Friendly staff, breakfast included, Wi-Fi, location, character of the building.
Review 100:Great and i mean really great customer service
Review 101:Friendly staff Close to the main gondola
Review 102:Friendly efficient management, comfortable room, good breakfast
Review 103:Wi-fi did not reach to the 3rd floor.
Review 104:Staff was very helpful and accommodating allowing early check in and late check out. Perfect for a few days of biking.
Review 105:Morning buffet
Review 106:Crew and hospitality
Review 107:The staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was very affordable. Andit was in an excellent location.
Review 108:Breakfast is a bit over-simple.
Review 109:Great and lovely owners!
Review 110:The staff was really very nice and the hotel very agreeable. Perfectweekend...
Review 111:The half board option advertised was not available. The room was overpriced. Room and bathroom very dated. WiFi was not free.
