Reviews for Rodd Royalty

Review 1:The room I had was really cold but they are not all like that. The one I had was having problems.

Review 2:Loved the great prompt and friendly customer service. The staff was amazing. Made you feel at home.

Review 3:Trying to find my room was like going through a maze. Had to carry a heavy suitcase up stairs.

Review 4:Room was spacious and I liked having a sofa in the room. Staff were extremely courteous and accommodating.

Review 5:We were not in the main building. Getting to our room was inconvenient, we had to go outside or through a meeting/exhibit area. Stairways had a musty smell. There was no ice machine in the side building.

Review 6:Staff was great. Location was good for our purposes. The room was large. Breakfast was the highlight of this hotel.

Review 7:I was in Room 220. The bathroom in the room needed work. The heater/air conditioner fresh air knob was broken so cold air from the outside came in the whole time and i had to keep turning the heat on. Also, because of this i was getting cigarette smoke in my room from all the smokers outside.

Review 8:The staff were amazing! Very friendly and accomodating. The entire hotel including the room was very clean. The breakfasts were great!

Review 9:We had the option to request a quiet room and because of disability a 1st floor room for 3people, we were given a 2nd floor room for 2 people with the pool furnace vent outside our window and the main kitchen below us, did not sleep well at all, when informing reception the following morning of our experience I was given a business card with tel no, to ring if we had problems on our next visit to a rodd hotel.

Review 10:Breakfast very good

Review 11:Lounge was closed so no dinner available. Elevator had a musty smell. The hotel is becoming a bit dated, carpet up the stairs to second floor was filthy.

Review 12:Location, have stayed in better properties for a lower price.

Review 13:I accidentally left several valuable items in a drawer then checked out. When I realized it two days later, I called and explained what I left behind. The hotel staff looked into it, then called me back and told me they did have my items, and they would be at the desk for me. When we returned to Charlottetown a couple of days later, I stopped at the Rodd Royalty and sure enough, everything was waiting for me at the desk. I very much appreciate the honesty and helpfulness of the housekeeper and other staff.

Review 14:Very comfortable stay. Hot breakfast in the morning was very good. We enjoyed very quiet rooms even though the hotel was booked to capacity with soccer teams. Very impressed with the hotel staff. Location was great.

Review 15:No TV in King bedroom and no ceiling fan. Would like hand rails and also grips on the tub bottom to make me feel more secure getting in and out of the tub.

Review 16:Comfortable bed. Enjoyed listening to the waves hit the shore

Review 17:The price was a little steep for the overall condition of the hotel. The pool needs an upgrade. There was a wedding in the hotel and most o the guests where staying there as well. A lot of traffic in the halls late at night and we could hear the songs being played at he wedding.

Review 18:It had a cool water slide. Close to many restaurants and malls

Review 19:This hotel was a disappointment. We do not feel it was as advertised, We were not actually in the hotel, but in small motel style room across the parking lot from the hotel. The room was marginal at best. And we had to cross the parking lot for ice and breakfast.

Review 20:Good water pressure in the shower. Also, a good breakfast.

Review 21:We stayed for 3 days, and other than on the day of our arrival the housekeeping staff did not bother to make the bed properly. The bedsheet was simply pulled up, not tucked in, not made to look neat; and the pillows were not arranged at all, just left at the head of the bed. Rather a sloppy job overall, which leads one to question the quality of the rest of the housekeeping.

Review 22:I liked the overall comfort and location of the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the room had a good layout for an extended stay. The location of the hotel is a quick drive to historic Charlottetown, and provides very easy access to other parts of PEI.

Review 23:Building is old. Repairs are incomplete. Bath rooms tired and not well cleaned.

Review 24:Friendly staff. Good location. Excellent pool and slide. Lots of parking. Beds comfortable and nice linens. Good size rooms for families.

Review 25:Our room wasn't thoroughly vacuumed and still had chips under the bed. the breakfast could be slightly improved with better eggs (powdered possibly) and a choice for bagel with cream cheese.

Review 26:The waterside was fantastic and lots of fun. The room was also quite spacious and well laid out.

Review 27:The only area that created a challenge at times was the availability of parking for rental vehicle. This due in part to two wedding receptions during our stay. I was forced to park on the lawn. Parking in front is very limited and back of building was taken over by the reception parties. I would not chance parking my rental where it would be abused by late night departures from the receptions. As it was, my driver mirror was turned around by someone bumping into it severely. Luckily, no damaged was incurred. We pay for our stay and should have access to an assigned parking space. On numerous occasions, we were faced with the challenge of finding a parking spot upon return from a day trip.

Review 28:Location provided quick access to harbor and stores in Charlottetown's downtown core. The airport is within 10 minutes. Only a minute drive to Trans Canada highway for east and west excursions. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The included breakfast offered a good variety of hot and cold. All staff took their job seriously, were very polite, helpful and communicative throughout our stay.

Review 29:I didn't like that there was no transportation choices other than cab to and from the airport, while the breakfast was adequate some items had ran out and had not been replenished, and the shower tile needed a good cleaning to get rid of what looked like black mold. For the price I thought the motel could have transportation to the airport at least during airport peak travel times.

Review 30:The beds were comfortable the room clean and quiet. Breakfast was adequate. The staff was helpful, and the location was convenient.

Review 31:This is the only hotel I have stayed in where the cleaning staff are so friendly. They always greeted us in the hallways with a smile and a greeting.

Review 32:Outside downtown area, but Charlottetown not that big so manageable.

Review 33:Very nice updated rooms. Lot's of pillows. Housekeeping staff very friendly and particularly helpful. Free parking.

Review 34:room is 4 star decoration but with motel exterior ,disappointed with terrible loud ventilation noise when open the the bathroom light , there is no separate switch for the ventilation, wifi slow and disconnect two time.Breakfast was disappointed ,no fresh fruit , no pastry, I stayed in 3 stats with super wi-fi and breaksfast. also no pen and paper on the business table..The TV was not easy to operate we spent considerably time to figure out how to on the TV. I stayed in 2 stars with super wifi.

Review 35:Great location

Review 36:The first room we had was on an older side drive up to front door motel which was not on the description and picture. Musty and old did not want to stay there. Got a room in main building

Review 37:Accomading staff

Review 38:the hotel is old. the slide door of our cabinet did not work. the fan is noisy. we stayed at room 126, which is by the gate, can hear people in and out, so if you are not a sound sleeper, change to other rooms.

Review 39:No ventilation in the room. Not a lot of natural light. Window looked out on the hall that was decorated for a wedding. Room location was a bit complex to get to.

Review 40:Great staff.. Liked that breakfast was included in the stay price.

Review 41:Spacious and comfortable rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, the waterslide kept the kids busy for hours, the location is great and the breakfast is one absolutely one of the freshest and best hotel breakfasts we've had.

Review 42:The room we were given was far too noisy. I took a decibel reading and it was 53 db - couldn't sleep at all. There was an ancient ice machine right next to our room that kept turning off and on, and was vibrating the whole adjacent wall. I didn't sleep more than an hour or two.

Review 43:Service was fantastic, we had an issue with noise, they investigated, determined we were right, and comped us a night since the place was packed and there were no other rooms. While I would have rather had got some sleep at least they took our concern seriously.

Review 44:Big treadmill was out of order (but nice little fitness room).

Review 45:We slept very well: the beds and pillows were comfortable, the air conditioning worked and was quiet, and despite the fact that we were just at the top of the stairs from the lobby, we heard no noise from inside or outside the hotel. My daughter loved the water slide and I loved the fact that the saltwater pool was reasonably warm and had a current caused by the slide so you could float around in circles. The breakfast selection wasn't huge but there was a bit of variation every day and the scrambled eggs and home fries were still soft and moist, much better than most places with a buffet. Boston Pizza is just round the corner so no need to drive.

Review 46:The air conditioner was barely able to keep the room cool. A few more degrees colder would have been nice. However perhaps it was due to the very humid weather???? The breakfast was OK, but very little gluten free items for my wife. The parking lot is very dark and could use a few more lights.

Review 47:Great location. Spacious rooms which were very clean. Nice and quiet.

Review 48:Pool area could have been a bit cleaner. Some rowdy pool guests (pool staff should check in during busy times). Our bathroom door knob was broken and the fridge was freezing our contents. Renovations were evident but could be more improvements (rusty stairs up to water slide).

Review 49:Nice clean modern rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff, great location, and kids loved the pool and water slide!

Review 50:Our room was really hard to find. The hotel is a bit 'chopped up'. The front desk guy really didn't want to bother showing us. It was a nice room, once we found it.

Review 51:Room was clean and comfortable. Pool area was very nice. Breakfast was really good and well stocked.

Review 52:Little out of the way of the downtown core. But really not that bad.

Review 53:The staff was fabulous. Helped with restaurant referrals... And we're genuinely helpful and professional.

Review 54:There really wasn't anything that I didn't like. The only thing is that they say they clean the pool at 2:00 pm which seems like a strange time to me because that is when it would be busy. Luckily for us they didn't clean it at 2:00 pm so my grandchildren were happy and there were quite a few others in it as well.

Review 55:The front desk staff were wonderful - we had a gentleman by the name of Nick who was great. The hotel was wonderful, very clean and the AC was working prefect as it was a really warm day. Wished we could have stayed another day but maybe next time.

Review 56:Our toilet and air conditioner leaked. The carpet was torn; the desk had chips all along the edge; the bathroom tub did not look refurbished or new and there appeared to be water stains on the ceiling. This is not a hotel that I would consider to be 'recently refurbished'. For almost $200 a night I expect more!

Review 57:The breakfast was good

Review 58:First time in Charlottetown, on a busy stretch of road. Over rated in my opinion, basic hotel breakfast. For same money could have stayed at the downtown Rodd or a historic Inn and walked to restaurants etc.

Review 59:Cancellation policy

Review 60:We found the staff excellent - even the kids commented on it. The room was large and comfortable, although the bathroom was small. The pool was enjoyed by the kids.

Review 61:Distance from waterfront. But not a big issue if you are driving. Bathroom could use a little updating but not a big deal overall.

Review 62:Great staff. Awesome comfy bed. Clean. Super value.

Review 63:Location is not within walking distance from downtown and near a busy intersection that can be noisy. Telephone in the room did not work - had no dial tone. Some staff members seemed to be a little bit sleepy, maybe because it never seemed real busy.

Review 64:Comfortable room, comfortable bed, comfortable bath.

Review 65:When went to check in room wasn't ready and was told they would call us when it was ready but didn't get a call went back about 3 hours later and the room was ready but never did get a call

Review 66:Friendly staff loved the water slide

Review 67:The breakfast line is crowded and not suitable for any crowds of any size* one long line down one wall straight perhaps, toaster might as well be pop up 4 slice ones, no one can use it, one slice at a time clogs things up.

Review 68:The room, the bed, the breakfast included, coffee is delicious

Review 69:Breakfast was horrible. Messy tables. Not enough staff. Empty trays of food. Carpets were stained and gross in entryway and down halls. Originally given a dble bed room when we paid for queen beds. Had to move again!

Review 70:We stayed in the drive up motel suit, although it was neat, surface clean and tidy, it was not fresh looking with cob webs in ceiling corners, around lamp. Also a fair bit of dust on upper ledges and lamps, ledges. The bedding sheets were wrinkled and sort of looked slept in? It was also over priced, especially given the cost and the very clean and updated setting of the Holiday Inn on Capital Drive; we had family staying there. We travel a lot and had never stayed at a Rodd before and will likely never again.

Review 71:The staff were great as was the location

Review 72:The room (219) was quiet but the window was toward the conference hall downstairs so basically it is a sealed room the air is not good at all.

Review 73:The staff was overall very nice and friendly including front desk, house keeping and waitress in the cafeteria.

Review 74:The hotel is very tired and looks very dingy. Our room and bathroom were very small.

Review 75:Good location if you are attending business/functions at the university.

Review 76:There were kids everywhere! We attempted to use the pool once and kids had virtually taken it over all day. I imagine the concept of the water slide attracts families in general but it would have been nice if the pool was open perhaps an hour later only for adults. Needless to say we only got to enjoy it for a half hour and considering the terrible weather out doors, this was unfortunate.

Review 77:The service was awesome. Had great advice and everyone was just absolutely wonderful. The friendly and genuine kindness everyone displayed - from front reservation agents to dinning staff, will be remembered!

Review 78:Mattress needs replacement due to age and you could hear ALL of the noise from the hallway

Review 79:Great pool, staff were great and the rooms were clean. Wonderful hot breakfast

Review 80:The heated indoor pool with the slide is great and very kids friendly. There was a glitch with the hotel's fire alarm during the night that inconvenienced the guests. However the hotel staff were lightning fast in dealing with the problem and relocating guests as needed. Furthermore they applied discounts ranging from 25% to full refund depending on the severity of the inconvenience. The situation was handled as best as any I've seen in any hotel. We will happily be back.

Review 81:found a used condom wrapper under the bed. toilet wouldn't flush!! bed mattress was sagging in the middle. black mold on bathroom ceiling. room 323.

Review 82:free breakfast. close to downtown location

Review 83:The wifi was a little slow. I'm really reaching to find anything negative to say about this place.

Review 84:Our travel plans were up in the air when we had a major accident in our motor home. We decided to forge ahead and make the best of things if we could find accommodations. Thanks to booking.com and Rodd Royalty we did! This hotel was fantastic!

Review 85:Wifi very slow, almost not worth it.

Review 86:Good location for exploring PEI, not too far in to downtown. Pool is good and couldn't get kids away from the waterslide. Hot breakfast was very good as well. Friendly staff and decent room.

Review 87:A little overly hot humid in pool area. Was sweating when I sat watching the kids. Ladder was missing a step. Not a lot of outdoor space for lounging. A bit more expensive than I figure it should have been. Elevator was broken for a day and kitchen down one morning during our stay.

Review 88:Shopping nearby. Quiet. Clean comfortable. Friendly helpful staff. Nearby ice machines and refreshments. Nice mattresses and fridges and microwaves.

Review 89:Breakfast facilities weren't well maintained - always looked like a tornado had passed through with food on the counters, floors etc. Totally lost my appetite.

Review 90:The hotel is struggling, the room was tight with no where to put your luggage. Our room was adequate, but the washroom was tiny with nowhere to put a cosmetic bag. The pool was a nice feature, but needs some attention. The smell of chlorine took your breath away. It was nice to have a fridge and microwave as we were travelling with small children. The staff were considerate and welcoming which made the experience better.

Review 91:We rented three rooms and all three of the bathrooms had visible black mold on the bathroom tiles. One of rooms had a large yellow stain on the fitted sheet. Small things - wallpaper peeling, crooked light, furniture dents and scratches really gave a bad impression overall.

Review 92:The staff were wonderful and we enjoyed the convenience of the breakfast buffet. The fitness room was also a great option (but very small room/treadmill out of order/some weights were missing).

Review 93:Unfortunate not closer to downtown, have to use your vehicle every time you go downtown, and have to find parking.

Review 94:Nice rooms and comfortable. Also nice breakfast.

Review 95:Only thing was that when we first opened the door to our room it smelled musty, but it could have very well not been user much over the winter months. After a window open for a couple hours, it was fine!

Review 96:I really liked how it was close to downtown for accessibility but far enough away that that the pace was slow and it was quiet. There were many young families there the first night of our stay but other than hearing them the odd time in the hallway, it was still very quiet. The rooms were redone very nicely and it was very Morden. The staff was so extremely friendly and helpful and it was very nice to have a complimentary HOT breakfast included with your stay.

Review 97:The room was small and stuffy.Broken bath fixure. No screens on the widows. And the front stair up to the rooms were very dirty and dangerous.

Review 98:Nice pool area

Review 99:Difficult to access wifi from our suit.

Review 100:Staff were great. Upgrade to a wonderful self catering suit was a treat. Indoor swimming pool. Very convenient for shopping. Great value for money

Review 101:Room not clean and this was the best room in the place? Floors not cleanand toilet had urine and blood on the seat. So we in all common sensecould not stay so we went somewhere else for the week. Plan to come backfor work but will not stay at any rodd Hotels!!

Review 102:This is for booking.com.. I am very disappointed in the liability or howuntruthful the information regarding what the Rodd Royalty offers.Booking.com mentions that the Rodd Royalty offers a hot tub (withpictures as well), we had booked the hotel with that specific and onlyreason. Upon arriving, we found out that there was no hot tub (it hadbeen removed over a year or more ago), after much hesitation anddisappointment I spoke to the manager and we were offered a hot tubservice at another hotel and received a compensation for our troubles. Iwould think that booking.com should compensate for the incompetence ofkeeping the hotels up to date. I would expect to receive news frombooking.com with something in return for our troubles and discomfortduring our vacation.

Review 103:The breakfast was very delicious.

Review 104:very lousy (kids were running in the halls screaming, doors of other rooms slamming constantly) - forget about taking a nap before souper, bathroom could of been cleaner (toilet and zink), self-serve breakfast was a mess.

Review 105:the bed, the availability of the room service, the soap, the free breakfast

Review 106:Although currently OK, rooms are starting to show need of more than routine maintenance to restore sense of freshness felt on visits 3-5 years ago: discoloured grout in floor tiles, poorly re-caulked bath and corner seams, A/C-heating unit controls worn and either stiff or loose.

Review 107:First, two-storey, room assigned was unsuitable for a mature couple. Staff quickly found a most-suitable room on ground floor and offered assistance to move. A member of maintenance staff encountered in hallway also offered assistance and guided us to new room. Staff are what encourages returns!

Review 108:The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially Mary and Brianna at the front desk, as well as Isaac , Jonathan and Tammy -they certainly helped to make our trip so enjoyable

Review 109:We wanted healthier options at breakfast.

Review 110:Very accommodating to our puppy. Placed us close to a side exit so that we would be able to take him out (our request). Location is good if you're driving. Close to big department stores in case you're running low on supplies.

Review 111:Everything...dirty, drab, way over-priced. No one to help with bags..too few handicapped parking spots...mold in tub...dirty carpet...poor lighting...awful towels...smelled...no carts(?) for moving luggage...and on & on it goes! Bottom line, dingy, dirty, out of date, and way over-priced!!!!!!

Review 112:Not much....

Review 113:- the toilet would run and then every 20-25 minutes the tank would refill waking me up from sleep - the cover on the airconditioner was missing; one window was nailed shut - the carpet on the stairs is dirty! - there was mould around the top of the bathtub

Review 114:- the staff - especially at the front desk were excellent and helpful - the bed was comfortable - the internet service was free (but the upload and download time very slow) - except in the middle of the night

Review 115:Price was grossly over priced -due to the fact Shania Twain was in town.

Review 116:When travelling-I do like to find something a 3 star or higher. Down the street from the Rodd were other hotels - that were lower priced, and only 2 stars. We checked them out - rooms were larger, same cleanliness, same options (perhaps no banquet/ bar/ waterside BUT..we did to use any of this at the Rodd anyways)..in this situation, we should have went a half block down and paid less!

Review 117:Bathroom toilet ran all the time and needs repair. Could have used replacement on toiletries in the room as well as more towels. People smoking outside front of hotel straight out from our room were noisy and woke us up.

Review 118:location, parking access, close to all stores on the north end of Charlottetown, friendly front desk. The recreation area was well maintained and pleasant

Review 119:Our room was in a side building reminding more of a motel than a 4 star hotel; Poor cleaning of the room (used hotel-own glasses were not replaced, wet and dirty towels remained unchanged, obvious dirt on the floor right at the entrance of the room, etc...);

Review 120:I wished the pool area had a hot tub

Review 121:The beds were super comfortable! The staff were very friendly. Loved how close to the mall/shopping it was!

Review 122:Furniture in room was revolting, stained upholstery, felt musky. Asked to be changed to another room; was accommodated and conditions slightly better but the furniture upholstery was also stained.

Review 123:Breakfast

Review 124:No complaints whatsoever.

Review 125:Courtesy and smiles at reception even late at night, staff went out of their way to make the stay more than just pleasant. Clean, comfortable room at a very reasonable price. A great location. Thank you!!

Review 126:internet went down every night while I was there. I was on the 3rd floor. The price that you quoted me was not the price I was charged. It was $167.00 that I booked at and the price I was charged was $175.00

Review 127:have always enjoy staying here

Review 128:Room was small. Couldn't stay in swimming pool area due to the strong chemical odour/fumes.

Review 129:Front desk staff very helpful, especially during check-in. Great selection of hot & cold items for breakfast. Fridge and microwave available in room.

Review 130:Everything

Review 131:everything we needed for a 16th birthday sleepover. staff very friendly and helpful,

Review 132:Staff at reception were rude and acted like we were lower class citizens and didn't care if we stayed there or not.

Review 133:Renovations were nice

Review 134:I love the pool and water slide. Having a hot breakfast was very nice.
