Reviews for Fairmont Chateau Whistler
Review 1:We needed a fridge for kids' milk so took out some of the alcoholic drinks to make space for milk , cleaning lady took out whatever we had remove from fridge and front desk said they will charge us for all of them even they had not been used . At the end they did not charge us but it was a bad experience
Review 2:Location was great staff very friendly.
Review 3:Buffet was outright robbery.
Review 4:Complimentary pre-ski and post-ski yoga sessions was a great touch. From front desk to housekeeping to spa staff to bell desk, staff was exceptional.
Review 5:The ski valet seems to be in a strange place, having to walk downstairs then back up stairs to get to the lifts was a bit much. Since it was the holiday, the place was packed, nowhere to sit and relax, get a drink, etc. It could take an hour to get service.
Review 6:Price is really high. Rooms are nice, but a bit outdated.
Review 7:Everything is really good. Food, room, staff, service. Location at the ski-lift is very nice too. X-mas decorations were very nice.
Review 8:The Vida spa within the Chateau was completely subpar, unprofessional and nowhere near the level of service provided by hotel staff . The service and treatments were so bad , we are considering not returning to the Chateau again , instead staying at the four seasons next time.
Review 9:The hotels location, the accommodating staff and comfort of the hotels interior and grounds
Review 10:The way the mini bar & optional snack items are weighted. If you pick it up to look at it you automatically pay, which is pretty cheesy if you decide you don't want the item.
Review 11:It's a beautiful hotel in a great location.
Review 12:The hotel is moving away from its original five star approach and now seems geared towards families with children (and apparently dogs) which makes it less appealing to those of us without either. The mini bar is now unusable for personal use unless you are prepared to pay a $20 restocking fee or have an argument. The staff are inconsistent; some are excellent, others are less so. When we arrived, the beds were made up with synthetic bedding (which is a change from the past).
Review 13:The hotel is ski-in, ski- out. The pool and spa are pleasant if used at an "off-peak" time.
Review 14:Incredibly cheerful and helpful staff, they upgraded me to a beautiful room, and it's beautifully furnished. The concierge was helpful with places to go visit, the surroundings are just gorgeous.
Review 15:$35 /day parking while the parking garage was undergoing a major structural repair on a slab band without an engineered shoring design or plan. It's disheartening when fairmont places no value on there workers and the safety of their guests. Not sure if the 1 1/2" space under each room door is a fire code violation either, but it was nice to hear everything going on in the hallways with crystal clarity. And $57 for 2 beer and a glass of wine... Really???
Review 16:The pool was nice, and my wife had a great massage.
Review 17:Was woken up from maintenece in the morning. Booking online messed up my booking. Called in to fix it they said they did. When we arrived it wasn't in the system and they said we were a no show. As well as the rate that was sent in the email was suppose to be a price guarantee of 203 was charged 237. He money was refunded. But you would expect that when staying at a place like this mistakes like this would not be made.
Review 18:Noisy, small-ish room (elevator machinery was audible all night). Over priced everything. Parking was $35 per night. Mini bar was absurd.
Review 19:Staff was very helpful. Pools and spa area were lovely.
Review 20:Great entertainment in the lounge . The service while almost everyone was very friendly and helpful it was very very slow. Took 35 mins for first drink to arrive we had to leave and come back after our dinner reservation. The following morning for brunch it took 40 mins for someone to come over , I ordered a Americano that took another 15 mins to come , and I never saw the waiter again . By this time my family was done using pool and we all decided to eat at the village instead. Very disappointing .
Review 21:The valet staff were amazingly helpful . All staff were very friendly aside from 1 women in the lounge . The rooms were clean , comfortable beds . Beautiful location .
Review 22:My parents bought us a room gift (strawberries and wine) to surprise us for our honeymoon. The four chocolate covered strawberries were a bit sad looking, and apparently they promised a bowl of nuts which was not there. Felt like this was not as advertised, although we were still surprised and happy. Everything else was great.
Review 23:most activities in lower village. requires a short walk
Review 24:very central. good parking. nice pool area. happy hour, free appies and live music in the lounge on Friday evenings. Good value although very popular. arrive early for seating.
Review 25:found a chunk of long hair on carpet in room!!!! disgusting...obviously the housekeeper did not vacuum thoroughly Manager came up to room and apologized and moved us to the room next door. Restaurant food is not at par to a 4 diamond hotel and either is the cleanliness in the restaurants. Pool bar staff is very understaffed...only came around once in our 2 hours at the pool.
Review 26:Staff was attentive. Location is great...away from the noise. Pool was nice. Have stayed on Gold Floor on previous stays which is way better than this stay.
Review 27:Couldn't sleep at night because of a barking dog all night long in the room across the hall from our room. The carpets were badly stained and dirty in our room that turned my clean white socks brown and filthy.
Review 28:Stayed many times before because it is located in the nice quite part of whistler. Great pool and nice staff.
Review 29:The only complaint is that we found breakfast elsewhere after checkingroom service and finding an omelet was 32$!!
Review 30:The hotel and facilities were gorgeous! The staff incredibly friendly :)
Review 31:We learned upon arrival that our "category" was the lower floors!!! We were assigned a room which upon opening the door was "disturbingly" disheavelled and "unclean". The Manager reassigned us a clean room. A "Large" dog was left alone in the room two doors down and barked non-stop for 45 min - 1 hour before being removed by hotel staff (with some difficulty). Loud, noisy conversation outside above room at 11:30PM -
Review 32:The Management and Staff were very obliging and have made an effort to restore our interest in this property.
Review 33:I would stay away from the mallard lounge food and the the breakfast at the hotel. Food is over priced and not very good. Drinks and desserts are great!
Review 34:I LOVE this hotel! The service here is outstanding. The pool area, spa, and tennis courts are amazing! This is my second time here and will come back again and again!
Review 35:That I had to solve the wifi connection myself with some online assistance. I lost an hour and this should have been solved by the hotel staff, not me (my name was not in the system for the wifi connection...)
Review 36:Great place, friendly staff. Despite a wifi access issue everything was perfect.
Review 37:The expense of breakfast for guests staying at the hotel is (as with most hotels) ridiculous. The large opening under the door let in much light into the room at night, as well as noise from the hallway.
Review 38:A classic Fairmont experience. Wide lobbies, roaming hallways and everything beautifully appointed. the room was large and there was more than enough for our one-year-old to play and roam.
Review 39:The restaurant on site was very expensive and the location is a bit out of the activities. Most stores around the hotel close early.
Review 40:Very nice pool and hot tub with wonderful sauna and steam room. Clean showers and change rooms.
Review 41:I felt like staff was very welcoming when I arrived but I felt like I didn't get the same courtesy as I was leaving
Review 42:Everything was convenient. Staff was helpful n friendly.
Review 43:Breakfast not included!
Review 44:Fantastically friendly staff who couldnt do enough for me. Clean and very comfortable beds. Excellent quiet location. Fabulous!
Review 45:WiFi was a little slow.
Review 46:Outstanding location, architecture, service, friendliness. The bed was soooo comfortable! The pools and spa were heavenly. ALL the staff were friendly, welcoming and smilingly good natured. Top notch food.
Review 47:The valet experience is one of the worst I have ever experienced in my life. No help with bags whatsoever. Agents were not rude, but no where near level of what I expect dropping $400 a night at a Fairmont.
Review 48:Pool and hot tub service was great.
Review 49:After paying a big price for the room, we were surprised to pay another $35 for over night parking for each of the three days
Review 50:Great location in the upper village, close to everything. The free shutle service was great; did not need to drive after dinner/drinks.
Review 51:The television was dated and didn't work correctly. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Extravagant prices in the hotel - 4 cups of normal cups of tea cost 18.50$!!! Blueberry pancakes were $22! Ridiculous! Valet took forever to bring cars and there is no free parking either. I'd rather stay at a 3-4 star and get free parking + free breakfast.
Review 52:The pool was great the kids loved it. The staff smiled at us.
Review 53:This was my first stay at the Fairmont in Whistler. I was very impressed with every single experience I had in this hotel. From the staff to the facilities it was amazing. Our bartender Fred in the Lounge was one of the best we have ever had and made us want change our mind from one night cap to many just to stay and enjoy drinking with him. I will definitely look to stay here again even if it costs a little more.
Review 54:Dinner at the Wildflower...the server was aware that the debit/interact was not working properly but allowed us to attempt it without that information.Having just used the card for lunch at The Mallard (another Fairmont restaurant) we were a little perplexed and asked to use one of their machines (very close proximity). His begrudging response was he had other guests to attend to, strategically after we had selected his tip!
Review 55:Easy walking distance to the village but far enough away from the chaos when we had our fill.
Review 56:Nothing
Review 57:Location. First class treatment. On our honeymoon and we were upgraded to a suite and given an amenity of champagne upon arrival-without our asking.
Review 58:It's really took a long time check-in and waiting for room prepared, we arrived there 5pm...
Review 59:Old but still high quality and luxury. good location and quiet. nice room and comfortable bed.
Review 60:Our room was not cleaned upon returning from a day shopping in the village. (4:30 pm). We had friends over for a drink and the room was not serviced so we had to call the front desk for clean glasses.
Review 61:Great staff and Ironman friendly.
Review 62:All the extras you have to pay for that in most places are standard: small fridge, parking. Also, the bathroom was kind of dated for a hotel at this level.
Review 63:Fairmont luxury, good location, not overly expensive.
Review 64:Room was a little cluttered Stopped an additional night and was charged 50% more for the pleasure??
Review 65:Location was great Staff were amazing, they couldn't do enough for you
Review 66:Everything was great!the staff was terrific! The only thing I did not like was the dogs in the hotel . I also did not like all the kids in the bar area and spa area.
Review 67:The staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 68:Shuttle to golf course was bad. Had to walk to and from golf course. Food should open before 7am so I could have eaten before my 7am Tee Time. Bathroom in unit needs to be remodeled. Its was old. For the amount they charge for a room the bathrooms was not adequate.
Review 69:The food at the hotel was delicious. Friendly staff.
Review 70:Loved it all- the only thing I would say is that after requesting help from the IT staff I am still waiting for them.
Review 71:The whole experience. We couldn't fault it from start to finish.
Review 72:Nothing everything was exceptional
Review 73:It was our first time in whistler we got there and it was 35 for parking or 39 for valet we did the valet they had my keys to my room already checked in it was awesome the staff at all locations throughout the hotel were so nice and friendly pools was buetifull it is a very high class resort the elevators were super quick by far the best place we've ever stayed at I could write a book on how good it was I'll be back
Review 74:Burnt my room service - couldn't eat it. Waited a long time for them to come get it, didn't seemed like they cared it was too burnt to eat.
Review 75:Nice facilities, friendly staff
Review 76:Good WiFi but responds badly to moving around the hotel; random requirement to re-login.
Review 77:Able to walk to the village on a traffic free track. Great view of the mountains and a lovely terrace on which to enjoy a drink. All staff were relaxed and helpful.
Review 78:Parking lot is horrible, hard to find space, very tight, and very far from the main hotel. Pool water not clean enough (Muggy in the pool, Jacuzzi okay) Bed sheets very rough. Bed too soft. Rooms are very dusty, Bathroom not too clean, towels and bath robes are very dirty (had blood stains on them). Very disappointed at this 5 star rating hotel :(
Review 79:Free cake and drinks on July 4th, good service at the lounge for late night dinner, people are polite at the restaurant, and at the front desk.
Review 80:The hotel restaurants were very expensive and they offered no discounts to hotel guests. So unfortunately for the hotel, they lost our food dollars as we ate out during our stay.
Review 81:The staff was excellent. They went out of their way to help us plan our day. They had free activities such as hiking tours and exercise classes. Free bike, backpack and tennis racket use. Free water when you head out for your adventure. I've stayed at Hiltons and Marriotts and never got this service for the same amount of money
Review 82:We visited front desk to have something brought up to our room and he said he would do it right away. I waited 30 mind never came I called down again and he apologized and said it's coming up waited another 30 mind never came by this time I was so disappointed I gave up trying to even call again.
Review 83:The location was nice
Review 84:We checked in at 5 pm and we had a dinner reservation for our anniversary dinner at a great restaurant, when we got there our room was STILL not ready ( 530 PM!), and we did not get a call that it was ready until 730 PM! we missed the restaurant that we wanted to go to because we needed to shower etc, so we missed our reservation. We had to scramble to make another and did not get another reservation until 10 pm seating time.So it kind of ruined our plans.
Review 85:Clean good location Lots to do around hotel
Review 86:Parking was terrible Hotel room was old and not what was reserved. The tub wouldn't drain properly. Key wouldn't work for room. The bill was almost double what I signed up for. Then when questioned on bill they tried to blame it on booking.com. They were passing the buck.
Review 87:Pool area
Review 88:Horrible coffee in the room.
Review 89:Love the location out of the way of the village, but only a 10 minute walk to the center of the village. Great pool, and great lounge.
Review 90:The parking spaces in the underground garage were limited, allowing bikes to take a whole car space, perhaps needs to be addressed
Review 91:Everything was exactly as you would expect from a hotel of this quality
Review 92:The portobello breakfast was disappointing, very large portions and bland
Review 93:Heavenly setting, Vida spa, exciting cocktails, glorious sunshine, elegance and beauty, cute dogs, a feeling of fun, peace and utter luxury, 6.30 am yoga,
Review 94:Our reservation was messed up. Booking.com blames the hotel; the hotel blames booking.com. I'm not in a position to say which is true, but the check-in process was unpleasant with the hotel staff taking no responsibility (although they benefit economically from the arrangement with booking.com!). We ended up paying $200 extra per night for each room, and don't yet know whether that will be refunded by either booking.com or the hotel. Luckily I asked for an email receipt upon checkout, at which point it was discovered that the hotel had mistakenly charged a 3rd $400+ room to my credit card!
Review 95:Staff other than at check-in were excellent and the hotel's spa facilities are superb.
Review 96:Did not have a bad experience but worried about the number of pets in the hotel and whether the hotel takes into account the possibility of allergic reactions when guests stay in rooms where pets had previously been. Guests should be alerted at check-in if animals have previously been in a room.
Review 97:The friendliness of the staff and the overall comfort of the hotel
Review 98:Why oh why do you have to gouge people on food and beverage when the room cost is so high? We would have had all our meals at the hotel if not for the rediculous prices. Also, the hotel Was stunning 20 years ago.... The furniture that has been chosen to replace what has worn out over the years is plain, ordinary and ugly. The overall warm and friendly canadian country feeling is fading with each disappearing piece ... With the $16 dollars you are raking in for a 1 ounce Caesar, you should be able to replace the vintage style furniture rather than the garage sale garbage that is now adorning the once truly impressive lobby.
Review 99:Great service, location and pool facilities. Love the new poolside upholstery! One of the best lounges around.
Review 100:None really but I would suggest bars and food a tad on the expensive side but I guess to be expected.
Review 101:Location, spa pool and gym all of good quality and good place to relax after a day on the slopes.
Review 102:didn't have a bad experience, but being a member of the Seattle Hotel Concierge Association, and a Lead Concierge at Tulalip Resort Spa & Casino I felt the staff could have been more welcoming.
Review 103:cleanliness, pool and hot tub, Mallard lounge
Review 104:Are internet in our room didn't work. We didn't get turn down service and the rooms were a little boring.
Review 105:Chateau was a great hotel in the perfect location. Steps to the lifts and rentals. The breakfast buffet was awesome.
Review 106:Way too many fees. Parking too expensive 35$ a day when you can park at a five minute walk for 8$ a day. 12$ hotel fees ???? no free wifi in 2015 really(14$ a day). An 1800$ reservation turned out to be 2400$.
Review 107:The location was great with all the services for skiing or snowboarding.
Review 108:Located right at the base of the Blackcomb ski area, this is a beautiful and comfortable hotel. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and capable, and the restaurant food was outstanding.
Review 109:Everyone who worked in the hotel bent over backwards to make sure we had a great stay which was hugely appreciated as our weekend logistics were challenging due to unforeseen circumstances.
Review 110:quite expensive main village a walk away - not to far and a shuttle bus could be used.
Review 111:easy access to the slopes. great spa and pool area. outdoor hot tubs . free hot chocolate and donut after skiing
Review 112:Expensive Hotel Parking Food was too slow to come in Wildflower/Grill room (almost an hour) considering it was not full house or busy.
Review 113:Friendly and attentive staff Close location to ski-chair Great food (dinner ) at Wildflower/Grillroom with good portion Good pool/spa for relaxation
Review 114:Didn't like our neighbour who complained about us and were then treated like criminals from the night manager. Not happy at all. Accused us of smoking in the room when we told them to go view the cameras of us smoking outside 15 min before they came up to our room. My Fiance had a few drinks and was told we were going to be kicked out which is illiegal to do to anyone in that state. Needless to say if I didn't get a great deal on this hotel I would be screaming at the front desk and left after the first night.
Review 115:Very nice hotel. Bed was amazing but the pillows smelled like dirty ski boots. bar was slow to get initial drink order on Friday night peak season but once the server initially made contact service was fantastic expensive drinks though.
Review 116:- Absolutely no character - No ambiance - No one warns you that there will be four taxes applied to the price - 200 dollar room ends up as over 300 dollar one with four taxes applied - The place is for REALLY OLD people. - parking and valet for one night is 40
Review 117:Lobby
Review 118:There was a huge tear in one of my bedsheets that I kept catching my foot in!
Review 119:Amazing place to get away! I took my sister to Whistler for a long-overdue getaway! The room was spacious and lovely! As she put it - next time you're in Whistler, say "hello" to my stress!
Review 120:The room is super clean and comfortable. I can say the bed is like sleeping on a cloud. It's absolutely perfect. It was a birthday treat this trip and I think this was most relaxing time I've ever had!
Review 121:Very expensive No free wifi in room 10-15 min walk to village (advertised as a 5 min walk) No view in room Could hear people in room beside snoring, talking, etc.
Review 122:Nice staff Lots of cable channels Good breakfast Village is very nice Overall good experience, though my work paid for everything so I didn't really have anything to lose
Review 123:The rooms and bathrooms are dated and tired; In-room safe did not work (Note: the staff did try to fix it however, the motor was just worn out.) Hair dryer stopped working half way through, then when they brought a replacement the old one started up again? The room phone is a portable type and the receiver off button has to be pressed every time it is used or the phone is not hung up. I think the wired phones are a better choice. One of the closet sliding doors was difficult to close (tired)
Review 124:Location, grounds, building and shops, spa. The lobby and surrounding areas are very attractive. Bed was very comfortable and the size of the room was good.
Review 125:Some parts of the building were quite dark
Review 126:Stunning building with lovely gym, pool and bar areas. Highly attentive and welcoming staff, and a short and pleasant walk from the village.
Review 127:Our room wasn't ready (we were there early after the Fondo) and they let us know we could upgrade for a small amount to the Gold floor. Best thing to do ever, thanks Irene at reception!! Comfy room, great food and beverage at the lounge and easy checkout. We will always try and book Gold from now on. Totally love the Fairmont experience over other hotels. Clean, professional, welcoming, great food and best service ever. 10/10
Review 128:The location and the staff was great. Good recommendations for restaurants and activities. Very nice room-liked the fireplace. Breakfast was very good and convenient.
Review 129:Bathroom door in suite didn't lock. The buffet breakfast in the restaurant downstairs should go a little later.
Review 130:The staff were top notch and very accommodating. The room was very nice and good views.
Review 131:Restaurant a little disapointing but service was great. Bed looked a bit messy with funny bedskirt. Dated tub.
Review 132:st.aff, pool facilities, quietness, overall grandness of the hotel
Review 133:More activities or tours could be organized through the hotel.
Review 134:What I liked most about your hotel was the welcoming we received at arrival by staff and also upon departure. Everyone was so supportive to make us feel at home, which is very exceptional given the size if the hotel!
Review 135:Paid parking No free wi-fi Gym location, unideal(passing through hot tubs) Vending machines not regularly checked on supply availability
Review 136:Quietness in hotel though lots of guests coming helpful staff
Review 137:$35. 00 for parking. Too many dogs in Hotel on our floor
Review 138:Great Restaurants, Great Staff, Classic Style Hotel, Variety of stores. Lounge area with music!
Review 139:Was holiday weekend so really quite busy
Review 140:Lovely hotel - nice character even in the summer! Staff very helpful - reasonable value for money. Would entertain going back
