Reviews for Esther's Inn

Review 1:Our main reason was for the waterslide but that was closed. Then someone break the mesh off and was trying to open the window. This made our time horrible.

Review 2:Breakfast was good.

Review 3:Did not like how the day of trip they changed are room and price of the new room, could of given us more notice of the change

Review 4:Liked how it was kid orientated and great location

Review 5:I think the place could use a bit of a face lift.. It's starting to look a little run down.. Makes me feel like I'm spending to much money for what I'm getting.

Review 6:I liked the atmosphere of the place as a whole.

Review 7:There was only one plugin in my room by the bathroom to plug into. Very incovenient for business.

Review 8:Very cute hotel, would be a great place for a family on a budget

Review 9:Sounded like someone was turning tap of and on for short moment, not coming from other rooms. Also please keep the lounge open longer, 9/10 is too early to close on a weekend especially.

Review 10:No towels in pool area. No indication of this, had to go back to theroom to get towels, which means wet towels for room shower afterwards.Pool shower needs adjustment (laser beam nearly cut me in half!) Needsmore signage to find the hot-tub! Not sure if hot-tubs were workingcorrectly.

Review 11:We reserved very early via booking.com, so early the hotel either lostour reservation, or our reservation expired or they never got it.However, I had my confirmation printout and they worked very hard tofind it but could not, and in the end gave us the type of room we wantedat the rate we originally booked. They could have charged us as a walk-in. That was very nice of them.Definitely a unique hotel. Hotel rooms open inwards over a tropical atrium. Pools, hot-tub. Good hot breakfast.

Review 12:I was checked out before my stay was over so strangers came trying to get into my room which had been rented to other people. Staff didn't tell me that had already charged my credit card or even apologize. Free buffet breakfast food was dry, Servers were not attentive, did not welcome me or greet me. My room had enough room for a nice chair and reading light, but only had old uncomfortable chairs. Carpet may not be old but it is ugly. Altogether It was below par for the price. I have often stayed at Esther's over the years, but I won't be staying again.

Review 13:The bathrooms were a bit narrow and the bathroom faucets in the tub were old and the shower was not too good. Otherwise everything else in the room was great!

Review 14:Nice rooms, clean, could have used a microwave though. Awesome breakfast in the morning. Very quite and a feeling of being nice and safe.

Review 15:The rooms are very marginal and badly in need of updating. They are dark and the electrical situation is bad - hard to find a place to plug anything in.

Review 16:The pool and common area was very nice. The pool and water slides were good. Free breakfast was good and a lot of variety.

Review 17:one hot tub not there any more, pools to crowded kids splashing and jumping in over other kids. Restaurant is always buffet and expensive. It is dark in the pool area. Waterslides seem to be closed most times we have stayed. Not much has changed over the years but the price!!

Review 18:free wifi is nice

Review 19:I was looking forward to the pool but there were so many kids in it, I didn't go in. A suggestion would be to have adults only from 9:00-10:00 p.m.

Review 20:We liked the free breakfast. It was a very tasty breakfast too.

Review 21:Internet was terrible. Kept dropping off. Management reset the server but didn't make any difference. Sitting in lukewarm hot tub with no jets working other guests said they had internet problems as well.

Review 22:we weregiven a room that was close to the front desk, there was too much traffic and very noisy, all night long. /children screaming and running. Breakfast could have had a bit more varriety, yoghurt would be a great addition.

Review 23:very pretty hotel, great things to do for kids. close to a lot of ammenities

Review 24:No elevator my room was on second floor and had to lug my luggage up the stairs that did not look safe

Review 25:I liked the convenience of the restaurant being right there Also the fact that the rooms (doors )are inside not out Did not have kids with me but it looked family friendly

Review 26:It was a long weekend and they shut down the water slide at 7 pm. Lots of people weren't happy. It's a long weekend they should have stayed open later.

Review 27:I was taking my grandchildren ages 5 and 6 for a short vacation and we had a great time . The hotel was clean and beds comfortable . Breakfast great .Swimming was great for the kids . We all had a good time ...

Review 28:The front lobby could use some updating. Little things like an automatic door as well as new flooring. As well brighter or more lighting in the rooms.

Review 29:Didn't have credit card so asked about deposit and was told it was $200, so I brought $200. But when went to check in was told it was $200 per room, I had three rooms booked, but I wasn't told it was per room when I called and person knew I had three rooms. So I looked for a credit card and when we checked out I seen that only $100 per room was charged to the credit card. I wasn't told this on check in, I was looking for someone who could put $600 on their credit card, I wasn't told that if it was a credit card that the deposit was $100 per room.

Review 30:Pools and water slide.

Review 31:pool opening not until 9am...hard to keep a 2 year old waiting that long...consider 8 am for families with children

Review 32:close to stores for necessities, waterslide, pool and lovely restful areas for sitting and to get out of room while remaining at hotel

Review 33:The room smelled badly, as if excessive amounts of air freshener was used to cover the smell. The bathroom wasn't very clean with paint peeling, etc. The buffet breakfast was also below typical Esther's standards. Thank god it was free. I was quite disappointed. I've been been staying here for years and always loved it. I get that its an older hotel, but this last trip was kinda sad. I will likely stay here on my return home; I hope this visit will be better. I really don't want to start staying at a different hotel. :(

Review 34:Sadly not much.

Review 35:The water slides were not open at all during our two night stay. Big let down. No pets allowed. That sucked. Our room was on the top floor in the very back. Long walk and the hotel seemed fairly empty so it seemed unnecessary.

Review 36:Loved the pool and hot tubs. Loved the bed and pillows. Loved the privacy.

Review 37:You used to be able to order a good cooked breakfast - now you can't. The "tropical swimming facilities in the middle of the hotel" don't hold any appeal for the mature traveler without kids.

Review 38:I arrived after 13 hours of driving to be told I could not have a pet in hotel. The staff were rude and very unhelpful. They didn't even care that we had driven 13 hours and did not try to help us find accommodation that excepted pets. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!

Review 39:nothing

Review 40:Photo ID to check in? Really? That's a first in my world. The one clerk was quite snobby, but the others were very nice and helpful. WiFi was spotty.

Review 41:Breakfast buffet was decent, and included with the room. Quiet, clean rooms with windows that face the pool, and decks that open to the outside. Pool/water slides/hot tubs/saunas are open at very decent hours that most parents will appreciate.

Review 42:I didn't like the hours of the pool as our room was close to it and we heard children screaming and splashing right until 10PM. I also didn't get much clarification on my free breakfasts offered and ended up waiting and missing it.

Review 43:I really liked the location and the pool.

Review 44:The only thing I didn't like were the hot tubs not working and they ran out of coffee midway through breakfast.

Review 45:I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the hot breakfast that was included in the room price.

Review 46:I've stayed here before & have always had a room on the ground level in the back whereas this time I was upstairs right in the front. I don't like that there is no elevator & this room was noisier & very warm. The pillows were really firm. Our door key was replaced 4 times until they finally came & changed the batteries in the system & it still never worked great. I would still stay here again though.

Review 47:I've stayed here before & have always enjoyed my stay.

Review 48:Was really looking forward to enjoying the hot tub on Saturday eve but the hot tub was cold.

Review 49:The location & facilities were good for why we were there. We plan on staying at Ester's next time we need to stay over in Prince George. Hot tub was nice on Sunday eve after a long weekend working at the CHBC.

Review 50:The water slides should be open from 9-10 for teens & adults. Or even 9:30 on the weekend. Also, the night pool cleaner, was very rude & interrupted us in the hot tub 5 times! No exaggeration! He had to tell us the pool was closing at 10pm. Not able to relax at all! And the towels were rough & cheap quality in the room & for the complementary pool towel.

Review 51:I liked that I was able to pay a fee for a later checkout, because I was taking my boyfriend to the airport that evening to fly outta country & we aren't locals.

Review 52:The front desk person who checked us in was not friendly at all and impatient when she couldn't find our reservation in the system right away I almost felt like I had done something wrong. All other staff that we interacted with were very friendly and helpful.

Review 53:There was a large group staying there for a family reunion, the kids were really noisy running around knocking on our door. our room was right beside stair well so kids running up and down was very noisy.

Review 54:I enjoyed the tropical theme. staff were very nice.

Review 55:lumpy cot, not being told about slides being down when I called to confirm reservation. ..n my young daughter being charged as adult for eating breakfast n no elevator

Review 56:the beds were good...the security guy Ben was a great help ...

Review 57:Breakfast was bad. Food was not even mediocre. One woman who was seated literally had her chair fall apart and she fell to the ground. Very embarrassing for her. Ester's hasn't been upgraded in decades and it shows. Good value for families with kids, but if you're expecting a great nights sleep this isn't the place for you.

Review 58:The atmosphere has always been what attracted us to stay. Like having a tropical get away without going too far.

Review 59:Front desk staff didn't acknowledge you as you going by. Lots of staff congregating around, not working. Supper buffet was horrible. Not much of a selection and what there was very blah tasting, no spicing whatsoever. Pool and hot tub areas out in the open. Hallways were wet from people running around in bathing suites. Rugs needed a good vacuuming and shampooing. It's an area that is very neglected.

Review 60:Best thing was the bed. Very comfortable.

Review 61:Had a great stay! Little glitch in the room cards to start but staff was happy to help. Room was clean and comfortable. Sunday Buffert was excellent! Huge selection of breakfast and lunch food including sushi and a full roasted pig!

Review 62:The beds need to be updated...most places now have bed that don't jiggle when someone moves.

Review 63:We love that its so child friendly. Our daughter is 5 and going to Esther's will be part of her growing up.

Review 64:We were there for the Canada Games and the wifi was not working properly all week.

Review 65:The staff was very friendly and curtious. The food at the restaurant was great and the pricing was just right. Location was excellent easy to get to and all amenities close by.

Review 66:The bathroom was very small, not a room for a family with children. The bathroom fan was so loud, it kept my baby up, also the air condition was very loud! Not impressed.

Review 67:The pool for the kids

Review 68:Everytime someone used the water we could hear it in our room thru the piping.

Review 69:When we were there is was very quiet. There was not a lot of guests there on the first night and we loved it, on the second night there was probably 2/3 of the complex full. It was abit noisy till 10 pm but very quiet after that.

Review 70:We reserved a queen room but couldn't put a cot in there due to fire regulations....so we upgraded to a family room and still could not put a cot in the room. What is the point of telling guests that there are cots if you can't use them in any rooms.

Review 71:The pools. Family room was big enough for family of 5.

Review 72:Would have liked to see the fountain in operation and the foliage seemed sad. I am sure it was due to winter but it is still amazing to have a taste of the tropics in the north.

Review 73:My stay was fantastic!! New renovations that have given the rooms a more updated style and the bed was very comfortable as good as being at home. I used to stay at Esther's but have stay elsewhere in the recent years. I will be making this my first choice of hotels in Prince George!!

Review 74:If you have heavy bags you must lug them up the stairs as there's no elevator.

Review 75:Breakfast included is now a added bonus of staying here. The pool, hot tub and waterslides are always fun! Rooms are clean and comfy. Wifi worked well. If you get the standard economy room it's not huge but does the trick . . . if you want a treat book a larger room in the corner for a few dollars more. We LOVE the fact that we can leave our vehicle in their gated parking lot for the length of our trips and they keep an eye on it and we don't worry about it at all.

Review 76:1)when I booked our 3 night stay (over Christmas) their restaurant was closed. They didn't even offer coffee and muffins. When I inquired about other restaurants in the city that we might eat at, the man was totally stunned, as if that wasn't in his job requirements so he shouldn't have to know. Well, I think the staff should know! Spending a holiday away from home is difficult enough, and how much time would it take to inform your staff that people might need that information. 2)when I needed to cancel (my brother was not well enough to meet us in Prince George) I couldn't get in touch with the front desk AT ALL! The taped menu just kept looping me back to the beginning of the message! Finally I phoned the Financial department and a pleasant young man took my phone number and in a short while the front desk phoned me and I cancelled. I tried to explain to the front desk guy what the phone menu was doing, but he just brushed me off. Your front desk service in Prince George stinks. I will miss the jungle atmosphere at Esther's Inn, but I don't see any reason to reserve rooms there in the future.

Review 77:Elevator would have been handy. Hard carrying Christmas presents up 3 flights of stairs.

Review 78:I was so excited about the free breakfast. Usually we stay at a resteraunt with a breakfast.

Review 79:Staff at Esther's are polite, helpful and very respectful and friendly. That and the atmospher are the main reasons I choose Esther's. I find it is location works for me as my trips are usually for medical reasons. I do find the price high for seniors and those on limited income that must visit PG for medical reasons

Review 80:Havent stayed here since I was a child. Its good to see how well up kept the place has been over the years. The aquatic facilities were great for the hangover. Loved the location. Great service. Will definately stay again.

Review 81:The internet is not like most places and was not properly explained. We ended up missing important ,messages because of that. They need to explain each device has a different password etc.

Review 82:The hotel was fine

Review 83:The staff is good ,friendly and more than willing to help. The inside is is tropical feeling ,there food is to die for, kids love the pool and waterslides

Review 84:I didn't like that everything was so spread out and there were no elevators so we had to make several trips up and down 2 flights of stairs to get our luggage to our room

Review 85:The bed riled the occupants to the middle, made for an uncomfortable sleep, and we seemed to be placed where all the major plumbing was, so we were awakened a lot by the pipes. It would be nice if they could provide some benches for those of us who smoke.

Review 86:We liked that we could get all our meals in one place. The staff was very friendly.

Review 87:Pillows need to be replaced. They were overwashed and lumpy.

Review 88:Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Buffet breakfast is very good. Hotel was quiet in the night.

Review 89:Not a clean room, the fridge didnt work, our sink backed up, had to use a toilet plunger to try & unplug it. when it wouldnt they moved us to a smaller 1 bed room. by midnight we went to bed after all this. they did discount the room to 89. shouldnt have charged us at all

Review 90:leaving

Review 91:Loud radio playing our a speaker right outside our room. The small pool we especially came for was empty. NO room service.

Review 92:Fun for the three year old. Nice atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff.

Review 93:We didn't like that the 1 big soaker tub was down for maintenance and the slide hours weren't long enough as this what most families use this hotel for

Review 94:Since the last time we stayed at this location ,they have put new furniture in the rooms and now all rooms have a fridge in it .

Review 95:We found the bed uncomfortable.

Review 96:The price of a room is reasonable. It is where we stay when we bring the kids to PG. They enjoy the waterslides and pools.

Review 97:forced to pay gratuity, no elevator to upper floors. not canceling credit card deposit when paid by interact.

Review 98:banquet room. friendly staff. rooms looking over courtyard.

Review 99:On check in, I was given a room that was, apparently, already reserved so I was moved to a 2nd room. After relaxing and unwinding, I tried to watch an on demand movie but that wasn't working. After several tries and talking with the desk they moved me to another room. This room had working on demand. On check out the next day, the printer wasn't working I couldn't be given a receipt.

Review 100:Staff was friendly and helpful

Review 101:The beds weren't very comfortable, it isn't a 5 star for sure but it was great for children.

Review 102:We were travelling with out daughter and family, it is the prefect place for children it is very family friendly. Our grand children love the pools and water slides.

Review 103:I only ate in dinning room once for breakfast the girl gave me breakfast with no cutlery. I used someone from the table. Service was poor

Review 104:Front desk staff were awesome.

Review 105:Having the pool in an enclosed complex with the rooms surrounding it makes having a early night difficult.

Review 106:The food was good, staff great, beds comfortable.

Review 107:Staff very helpful, I enjoyed breakfast

Review 108:They need to upgrade. I've been staying at Esthers for years and it's still the same.

Review 109:I think it could use elevators, I have bad ankle was hard going up and down the stairs. But next time I will request ground floor.

Review 110:Liked everything,

Review 111:The pools and hot tubs could very well be updated. On receipt room rate said 59.60 but yet the rooms are higher rate.

Review 112:great location. pretty good breakfast

Review 113:having to put $200 on my card over the payment of the room.

Review 114:Needs maintenance badly, carpets are dirty

Review 115:Location, breakfasts

Review 116:a little to moist in the courtyard

Review 117:kid friendly

Review 118:Great stay. Kids enjoyed the pool.

Review 119:nothing bad

Review 120:everything

Review 121:Breakfast was bad. Bacon had been creamated, and scrambled egg was horrid,

Review 122:Was central to our travels and facilities in the town

Review 123:Very professional and helpful receptionists.

Review 124:Great pools, and very neat layout with jungle/water slides ect... Breakfast was excellent here

Review 125:The trees

Review 126:The decor
