Reviews for Hotel du Faucon
Review 1:should advertise that you cannot drive up to this hotel..parking is a good 10-15 minute walk with luggage by the time you actually park and haul your stuff back up to ground level and then walk..street does not show up on gps as it does not allow cars on it..lucky i speak french
Review 2:handy locale for pedestrian touring...as basic as it comes...
Review 3:Room was super clean. hotel owners have excellent taste that shows in selection of furniture and décor. Room had kitchenette, but travellers need to bring their own dinnerware in order to take advantage of it.
Review 4:I really like this hotel not too expensive and also it is good located. The cleaning service is really good and I receive help from the reception to visit some places.
Review 5:No plugs near a mirror for hair drying. No service staff around at all. You just get a key. There is also no lobby so if that's what you are looking for the hotel is not for you.
Review 6:Location was great. Room was big and comfortable and clean. There was a kitchen but no plates, cups or silverware. There are no servi Ed available because there is no staff but that was ok with us.
Review 7:Expensive for service given. Kettle but nowhere to plug it in safely. Little kitchenette but no sockets and stove didn't work. Personnel rarely there and not friendly. No toileteries just a liquid soap dispenser. I will not go back.
Review 8:Position ideal.
Review 9:The fairly young staff were still a little inexperienced in giving travel advice for Fribourg, which was OK since we were so close to the train station
Review 10:The young staff had excellent language skills, being very proficient in English.
Review 11:Right in the middle of town, only a few minutes walk from the train station. The rooms are modern, large and comfortable. Our room had a full kitchen behind folding doors but it wasn't working and there were no pots, pans or utensils. There was, however, a good electric kettle and tea bags and sugar. The staff loaned us bowls and spoons so we could have our own breakfast in the room. The WiFi was fast but would drop out occasionally for a minute or three.
Review 12:The breakfast which does not cater for someone with food intolerences. A bit of goats cheese would help as intolerent of cow dairy.
Review 13:Clean fluffy towels each day. Slept well.
Review 14:It wasn't a particularly hot day, but the room was stuffy and the hotel, like most in Switzerland didn't have A/C. Left windows open, but it was still warm and the street noise kept me from sleeping until about midnight. Woke up with mosquitos feeding on me! Not the best sleep.
Review 15:I picked this hotel because of its location; just a 7 minute walk from the train station, going right by the Tourist Information center, so I could pickup brochures and a map. Then on to the hotel. It's surrounded by lots of restaurants and some very eclectic shops. A great location to explore the city. Had a delightful and very efficient check in; I was a bit early but was given a very nice clean double room, looking onto the pedestrian street. Room was large by European standard, good hairdryer but only liquid soap; no other bathroom amenities. Since I had pre-paid, check out was easy; just leave the key.
Review 16:No utensils whatsoever in kitchinette which makes it quite useless in particular for short stay visitors. No air conditioning in rooms which made time spent in the room, on the particularly hot & humid day I was there, quite unbearable.
Review 17:Central location; staff friendliness; nice kitchinette & practical large fridge;
Review 18:Not recommended for a business travel in summer. It is situated in a pedestrian street that you would expect to be quiet. Nevertheless, there was a lot of noise from the cafes, restaurants and cabarets on the street until high hours in the morning, and since weather was very hot you could not close the windows to damper it. Street cleaning services made the rest starting really early in the morning. Maybe be in a colder weather without outside service cafe´s etc would be more pleasant.
Review 19:Central location. Excellent wifi. Sparkling clean.
Review 20:Great location! Very close to RR. In old downtown. Was quiet. Room was large and comfortable. Had a kitchen in the room - however the stove was not plugged in/working but it still worked to be able to make meals in the room.
Review 21:There is a small "kitchen area" however no plates or cutlery, or dishwasher soap to clean up after yourself, so I felt awkward leaving it a bit messy.
Review 22:They took in consideration my request for a quiet room, which was very important to me. Others should be ware that there is quite some noise on the street side, and a cabaret below, so if noise is an issue for you, it's good to mention it and this way they can accomodate. The room was spacious and clean. Check in and check out was quick and easy.
Review 23:My single room was right next to the elevator, so there was some noise everytime somebody used it. BUT: Staff was explicit about it, so I knew what was coming. Furthermore, as it was very warm when I stayed there, there was quite some noise from the street at night (my room was facing the street). However, this is simply to be expected when staying in a hotel in the old town!
Review 24:The location is excellent. The bathroom was clean and recently redecorated. For Swiss standards, you get good value for your money here. I would definitely recommend it to anybody staying in Fribourg.
Review 25:Although the hotel was very clean my room included there was a foul smell in the entrance and hallways. I was told smell was coming from local sewers and all the buildings in the area were experiencing the same issue.
Review 26:Proximity to town.
Review 27:Impossible to find a parking place
Review 28:Good location, clean , excelent staff, fast check inn ,confortable , spacious room and a great italian restaurant a few steps away .
Review 29:The wifi signal disappears after a while . However you can fix this by restarting the router in the stairwell. Needs to be done about once an hour though.
Review 30:Good location, clean big rooms.
Review 31:We stayed with our daughter and our dog. And we were happy for our staying - very clean, comfortable room (with the kitchen, frigo), the bed was very comfortable too. Free Wifi, hotel is in the center of the town - there are many nice bars and restaurants around. The public parking is close and we easily finded the place there. We recommend this hotel!
Review 32:Poor wifi found it difficult, that some personel at the reception did not speak englisch (just french and italian)
Review 33:Located close to the station and city center.
Review 34:It is funny you have a big kitchen in the room, but it is without elektricity and with out of order cooker :)
Review 35:Nice place in the city centre, quite, stylish, nice people in the reception. Hotel is in the pedestrian zone, so you have to park in the public parking, it is only 2 minutes out of Hotel.
Review 36:For some reason, I was not given a proper receipt, only a credit card ticket.
Review 37:Best (of four) hotels I have used in Fribourg. And the lowest cost: perhaps I was lucky. Large modern room; proper shower (with door, not a curtain); good Italian restaurant.
Review 38:front desk coverage limited, internet had occasional outages.
Review 39:nice quality furnishings, efficient design of limited space, located on an interesting street. The shower was awesome! All the basics accounted for very well.
Review 40:very noisy (room was right next to the old Elevator) Bedding too soft for my taste
Review 41:Staff (friendly, fast, straightforward) Location (5mins to the train station) room facilities (small kitchen, big fridge)
Review 42:None of staff could speak English. Kitchenette was non-functioning (including the coffee maker).
Review 43:Good location in pedestrian area, not far from train station.
Review 44:Nothing.
Review 45:Well equipped, good central location, quiet room, excellent value for Switzerland. Lift was out of action, which didn't really bother us, but we got free breakfasts in compensation anyway.
Review 46:Breakfast should perhaps offer some non-white bread and cereals. Poor selection of TV channels beyond the (mostly French-speaking) Swiss ones. There was even a kitchen (!) in my room, but out of service except the kettle. I understand this well (if guests began to cook smelly food in their rooms, that would be unpleasant), but why then do they build in a kitchen at all?
Review 47:Excellent location. I had a spacy, modern room & facilities. Kettle, tea-bags and sugar in the room. Breakfast buffet is OK, incl. good Swiss cheese etc. The street is a pedestrian zone and noise from the street was not disturbing. Good bed & mattress.
Review 48:A bit noisy at the beginning of the night because of restaurants and bars in the street.
Review 49:Spacious room and bathroom. Kitchen and several wardrobes and cupboards. Good location near restaurants and shops. Very clean. Parking near the hotel (not for free).
Review 50:Not really a hotel at all, rather more like a short-medium term apartment, thus no services.
Review 51:Nice hard bed,and kitchen in the apartment, very clean and neat
Review 52:We have received suite on the 7th floor, but lift was working only till 6th floor. It was necessary to up by steps. We asked to change the room and received room on the 6th floor. Room was good. Only one thing was not comfortable -very small table in the room.
Review 53:Excellent location, close to the railway station - 10 minutes by walk. Very close to bus stop and big shops: Manor and COOP. A lot of points to eat and drink. Not far from sightseeing. Room on the 6th floor was good and silente. We had no problems with lift.
Review 54:We loved the reception where a lovely young woman helped us make a reservation for a nearby restaurant to dine on fondue moitié-moitié and meringue with double cream. The location is perfect for walks around town and for the funiculaire to get back up the hill. Best croissants in town at Bertherin just down the street.
Review 55:The hotel is in a great location,no more than 15 mins walk to the station and the old town. The room seemed relatively new,so left nothing to be desired. You can't go wrong with tis hotel,it ticks all the boxes. The staff speak good English and are very helpful.
Review 56:The room was a bit noisy (located towards Rue de Lausanne) and there was a very strong perfume smell (seemed some kind of ambience perfume of non-identifiable source) which caused headache.
Review 57:Very good location, comfortable room, very friendly personal.
Review 58:No cups and saucers to make a cup of tea; it seems sillly to have kitchen facilities and not be able to use them.
Review 59:Location, cleanliness, friendly staff, cost,
Review 60:It was just a bit noisy because my room was next to the lift so each time someone used it was a bit annoying.
Review 61:Localization is perfect, right in the city center and 5 min walking from the train station. The room was fine enough. Clean, with comfortable beds, and with a nice bathroom (gel, hair drier, etc were included). WIFI is for free and it works good. There is the possibility to get breakfast (I didnt try it so I dont know if it is good but I guess so). There is also a little kitchen so it is really nice in case you want to save some money for meals. I was coming from Ireland and I forgot my electricity adapter but they had several kind at the reception that you can borrow, so it was not a problem.
