Reviews for Blue Horizon Hotel

Review 1:The staff was neither helpful or curtious. No room service, and the restaurant that was located in the hotel closed early. No secure underground parking... Our vehicle Window was smashed and broken into at the hotels underground parking. The staff couldn't of cared less about the incident. ~ If that's because it's a regular occurance I suggest the hotel gets security or has their underground parking gated at night.

Review 2:Location was great for where we needed to be. The room was very basic but clean and spacious.

Review 3:Only complaint! No showercap? Sounds trivial but yep that's all we could fault. Oh and my daughters had trouble with the plumbing in that Canadian hotel plumbing is a bit confusing to Australians.

Review 4:The bed was superbly comfortable and the pillows good and supportive. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Great view. Nearby transport.

Review 5:The staff were excellent and gave me a room with a waterfront view. The hotel looks recently renovated and the restaurant was quite good. The location is perfect for touring the city because it's quite centrally located with a quick walk to the seawall and other tourist attractions.

Review 6:We did not like being falsely suspected of smoking on premises. Once we got a manager he was sympathetic, but desk worker seemed to think it was nothing to just have them inspect room for proof. Disability room had no more than safety bars. In current remodel, should at least replace current one with raised ADA toilet.

Review 7:Comfort of beds and lounge chair, frig in room, size of room (with 2 queen beds). Great location. Decent in house restaurant.

Review 8:Sent me to my room twice with the wrong key Was always cold in lobby

Review 9:Fine large room Nice spa area with 2 swimming lanes & jacuzzi Room cleaned daily by friendly staff who checked all ok Good coffee maker in room

Review 10:The front desk staff was not friendly. I never felt welcomed. It was just a job to them & no staff that I encountered seemed to care about customer service or if we ever returned, except the food/bar staff. I feel that we should have bottled water in our room, free or not.

Review 11:The dining/bar staff were great! Especially Ally! The food at the hotel was very good.

Review 12:We put in for an early check in but we showed up later then we first anticipated and later then the 3pm check in time, and our room was still not ready for another 30 minutes

Review 13:Location and staff were great and will stay again for sure.

Review 14:Fabulous location, close to lots of shopping and great places to eat for first time visitors to Vancouver . Amazing views from our large room. Beds were great. Loved our stay and would stay again.

Review 15:We left our car in the parking garage around the corner (since their underground lot was full) as directed by the staff at the front desk for 3 days only to discover on checking out that our car had been broken into, window smashed...nothing stolen because nothing was in the car. When I asked for a parking refund at the front desk, I was told to read the disclosure about parking at your own risk and was only given a 1 day refund. I was asked several times if I had left something in the car, implying it was our fault. Not the service expected. They assisted in the cleanup with a vacuum, bags for the window and tape so this must happen frequently; a stronger warning would have been appreciated-we probably would have looked for more secure parking off site. It also took 30 minutes to check into our 2 pre-reserved rooms...that was not waiting in line time but getting the keys time...excessive at 11 pm with no other people in line.

Review 16:The restaurant staff at Abode and the breakfast menu was great. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, silky sheets, soft towels, nice bath amenities, in a great location on Robson. The city views from the balcony were wonderful.

Review 17:no soundproofing as such, as there are only about 8 rooms on each floor - they all are close to elevators (5 on each floor), so you could hear them going up and down. bathrooms and rooms are oldish and would benefit from some renovations

Review 18:location is good; views from upper floors are great.

Review 19:The walls were thin. We could clearly hear the couple next to us talking. There was a loud buzzing noise coming from the hallway the entire time we were there. We asked the hotel to check on it and they did nothing and never checked if it had changed. I talked to the front desk about it when i left, stating that it kept us awake all night but they did nothing to compensate us. I will not be returning to this hotel simply based on the lack of comcern for our complaint.

Review 20:The room was nice and spacious for the price, with a great view.

Review 21:Bathrooms were very small. Other than that no complaints whatsoever.

Review 22:Awesome central location. Good pricing for a very nice hotel. Room was clean and spacious. Staff was very friendly at the front counter as well as house keeping staff. The resteraunt in the hotel wad delicious and the service was superb. Would definitely stay here again. Best hotel ive stayed at in vancouver.

Review 23:The price was roughly 100 bucks higher (from 350 to 450) than listed in booking.com, although I do believe part of that 100 buck came from parking for 1 night but the rest? As the price 450 was just a bit lower than other big brand hotels, I was a little regret for choosing here.

Review 24:This is the second time checking in The location was great

Review 25:Loved the room and the bed which was very comfy. Great location central to everything one needs. Love that we can have breakfast before we "hit the road". The food is very good. Have been staying here for a number of years when in Vancouver and have not been disappointed yet. Keep up the good work!

Review 26:This was our second visit to the Blue Horizon. We love the location--perfect for exploring downtown and walking distance to many diverse restaurants. Shirley at the front desk was extremely helpful. We will definitely be back.

Review 27:I would like to see a frequent traveler card . We've been staying at the Blue Horizon for 15 years, every time we come to Vancouver, it would be nice to accrue points for a free stay once in awhile.

Review 28:The pool size needs to improve

Review 29:The staff was pleasant and asked our preference in rooms. We were given a room with a wonderful view. It had a small refrigerator, a tea kettle and a coffee maker, free Wifi, good TV, a safe, a desk, a nice upholstered chair with a foot rest, two very comfortable queen-size beds and a balcony. It was clean and neat, we could see the sunset and the bay and the staff were very helpful. Plus, it's located right on Robson Street within walking distance of great places to eat, visit and shop. The hotel has a nice pool. Food and service in the hotel dining room were excellent. Parking is conveniently adjacent to the building.

Review 30:I had trouble working the thermostat in the room and therefore was a bit cold overnight. I would have appreciated an extra blanket.

Review 31:Spacious room Central location Friendly staff Comfortable bed Extremely clean but no strong smell of cleaning products

Review 32:We had to leave.

Review 33:Immediately when we checked in it was 8am, Shirley greeted us like family, we asked for a higher floor and she granted our request, the 30th floor!! The room wasn't ready, she checked our luggage and we had breakfast at Adobe and walked around some of the city, The views from the 30th floor were phenomenal and the room was great!! By the way, the location is A++++. Going back next year, Rebecca and I thank Blue Horizon and especially Shirley for making our first visit to Vancouver memorable!!!

Review 34:One treadmill, one elliptical and one exercise bike...not bad but would prefer a bit more in the way of a gym.

Review 35:We have stayed here on numerous occasions over the years and have always had exceptional service and an all around wonderful experience. The facility is always clean and although it is not a "fancy" place the facility has everything we look forward to (good service, pool, small gym area, nice restaurant, comfortable clean rooms and a prime location).

Review 36:The room was too cold at night.

Review 37:The view from the room and the balcony was great. The room was spacious and clean. WiFi worked well and the usb charger was really useful.

Review 38:No security keycard for elevator to ensure only guests are allowed on the guest room floors. No staff on duty to take luggage up to your room if arriving late in the evening.

Review 39:Whenever you went to reception it usually took a few minutes to be seen to as staff would take phone calls before attending to customers who were waiting at the desk. I didn't like this as sometimes if you were in a rush to leave, it did take a few minutes while they helped someone over the phone.

Review 40:Nice pool, spa, sauna and has 1 treadmill, cross trainer and bike which is enough as they were all free both times I used them. Room was super spacious with robes and housekeeping staff were lovely!

Review 41:We paid for a room with a king bed, but after an uncomfortable sleep, figured out that we were actually on two twin mattresses connected together with a pad on top. We stayed on the 29th floor and found out that the 31st floor was being rented out for a party. On check-in, we were told that the party would shut down at 11 PM. Later, we were told that the party music would shut off around 1 AM or 2 AM. Their parking garage height is very short <6'. This forced us (in our unmodified, stock truck with stock tires) to park a block away under the Shangri-La hotel for almost twice the price ($23/night at Blue Horizon, $45/night at Shangri-La). They originally offered nothing other than to look up another garage for us to park in, but after speaking with the front desk they offered a $30 voucher for breakfast for two mornings. I understand that there's nothing that they can do about their garage at this point, but it would be nice to know about an unusually short garage before making the trek to the hotel. Between the annoyance of the garage, the twin beds summed into a king, and the party upstairs, it made for a dissatisfying stay at this hotel.

Review 42:Staff is great, hotel is clean, pool and sauna are nice also.

Review 43:We honeymooned at the Blue Horizon 34 years ago and have visited there off and on. Only place we'll pay to stay in Vancouver BC. We asked for a room up high....they got us to the 27th floor!!! What a view!

Review 44:Helpful staff - esp Shirley on reception.Comfortable, large room with kettle, coffee maker & fridge . We had excellent views of the water & a balcony. Lucky to get free upgrade. Capilano free shuttle bus goes from outside hotel, express bus to Horseshoe Bay is only 2 blocks away (2min walk). Easy walk to metro and large malls

Review 45:THE POOL, ALMOST NON-EXISTENT GYM WERE AFTERTHOUGHTS.

Review 46:THE ROOM WAS SPACIOUS WITH A GREAT VIEW. THE RESTAURANT WAS VERY CONVENIENT. IT WAS WALKING DISTANCE TO THE MAIN DRAG

Review 47:Check in/ out process a bit slow. Their computer systems looks very complicated to operate even if staff seems very effecient and pro to me.

Review 48:Very good location ,very central. Many restaurant ,coffee shop around. Clean room. Very friendly staff. Great location if you fancy Japanese food. Close to stanley park & shopping mall.

Review 49:The room and parking keys failed every time I attempted to use them. the pool and hot tub were not very good. I could not get in to the pool or parking with any keys and I had changed them a number of times

Review 50:I liked almost everything the room the view the staff. the location and the price were great. I love the no entry when do not disturb is posted, great policy, this made for less work to the cleaning staff and I enjoyed the privacy, thanks

Review 51:Fitness facilities were not useful. Pool was too small to do anything, unless you had small children Fitness machines were stuck in a dark corner in the same room as the pool, so the room was very humid, when using fitness machines. Should get rid of the pool and make a nicer fitness area. keep the whirlpool if you wish

Review 52:sizable room and clean

Review 53:When I booked this hotel on line the rate $149.00 a night plus $ 17 a day for parking plus tax. When I checked in he quoted me a price of $498.00 plus tax which was correct. When we checked out they charged us another $68 for parking. I tried to explain this to the manager but he would not listen. The other complaint is the first day no one even came to clean our room.

Review 54:The manager Paul was very nice and helpful. He enhanced our stay at the hotel and made us feel like we wanted to go back again. We thank him very much.

Review 55:room was a bit small and felt outdated. but that's a matter of taste and style, and you could say it is very cosey!

Review 56:good location and very helpful staff. i did not use any of the facilities for lack of time

Review 57:Difficult to locate the hotel when traveling at night. Parking should have been better.

Review 58:Friendly staff, access to balcony and fantastic view from the top, great food at the Abode restaurant!

Review 59:They were doing maintenance on the wi-fi and it was unavailable from noon -6pm on Thursday. I did not know this until I arrived.

Review 60:The location, the pool/jacuzzi, parking, and the room was wonderful.

Review 61:Security in the parking was not guarantee because it was a public car park ; if you are paying CAN$17 per day, it should be secure . We had to bring all our suitcases out of the car without a lift not a good thing when there are stairs up n down carrying your bags

Review 62:Nothing I didn't like. The staff was very accommodating and not overbearing. Room was superb worth 4 x's at other hotel with excellent view of mountains and harbor.

Review 63:Excellent location, staff and value

Review 64:When a maid came in my room unannounced. No knock, but told the manager she did. The manager paid for one nights parking because of it. The room was a little musty, and the bathtub was really dated. But if your there just to sleep, it's fine.

Review 65:Right on Robson; the shopping strip. Next store to Earls, a block away from Starbucks and Tim Hortons. It has good value and cheap parking compared to all the hotels around. Id stay again, even tho the maid walked in unannounced.

Review 66:Parking was CAD 17 extra/night and not easily wheelchair-accessible from hotel, rooms / hallways start to feel a bit dated, noise from neighboring room was quite audible

Review 67:Very nice/central location in a street bustling with restaurants/bars/cafes (lots of Korean/Japanese places), great views (the building has >30 floors), parking is very close to elevators, room was spacious

Review 68:The room was dirty, bathroom had hair in the sink and tub. Room was outdated. Booking . Com was one price and when I checked out it was a higher price, the hotel said had nothing to do with the price on booking. Com. The hotel had a higher price. I asked not to be by elevator, I was. Plus they charged me taxes on parking

Review 69:The location

Review 70:nothing

Review 71:The hotel is located in the center of the city. Within 1/2 block there are Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Mexican, and Canadian restaurants, plus a sports bar, bakery shop, two coffee shops and a food store, and probably a few more I haven't seen yet,.There are two currency exchanges within a block. Clothing and gift stores are only 1 block away.

Review 72:The alarm clock was wired into the room and we could not disconnect it. Also from the parking you HAVE to take stairs to the elevator. SO we pushed a cart back to the driveway and came in the lobby. The place is OK but an older hotel.....but not the charm of a really old hotel! I had been told by someone that you can get a discount if you are a BC resident but the man at the desk did not seem to know anything about this. (?)

Review 73:We were on the 20th floor and I liked the view. The bed was comfortable and the linens were fine. I liked that there was chair with an ottoman..

Review 74:Our room did not have a stunning view but still ok

Review 75:Spacious clean rooms, convenient location and good housekeeping. We highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

Review 76:Wi-Fi was TERRIBLE. no more than a few kb/s. If you're a techie or travelling on tech business might not be the best choice.

Review 77:Nice location, very central. Restaurant was good!

Review 78:Lots of maintanence problems in the room, including heater and iron not working properly, issues wiith shower head, and the sliding doors of the closet getting stuck. The hotel needs renovation. The 'gym' has only one treadmill and the 'pool' is a bit bigger than a bath tub. The price does not include breakfast and even water in your room. I found the cost very pricey, you can spend the same amount of money and stay in a hotel higher quality with better service and facilities.

Review 79:Location was great. The room was clean and comfortable. Internet connectıon was fast.

Review 80:Room was small the bathroom was very small hard to open the door in bathroom and enter without manouevering to get door closed.

Review 81:Staff is beyond helpful excellent customer service. Fantastic location. Very clean.

Review 82:Asked multiple times leading up to our check in date that we needed a late check out the next day and would be willing to pay. When the day came that told us we had to leave and could do nothing for us. We had to sit in the truck in the parkade for hours until it was time for our flight

Review 83:Paid parking for hotel guests, $200 upfront additional fee in case of damages that is credited back to you on checkout if no damages occur (this is particularly inconvenient for international visitors, whose banks can be somewhat restrictive about money spent in other countries), pool area could have been cleaner and better maintained (but wasn't bad and was still very enjoyable), and bed sheet was clean but stained.

Review 84:Great location, great views, nice rooms, friendly staff, indoor pool with hot tub and sauna. Excellent breakfast in the downstairs restaurant, and also close to Starbucks and many other sources of good food.

Review 85:It was in a ideal location the room was good and the bed most comfortable it was very clean and I cannot find a fault with anything and will stay there again when in Vancouver

Review 86:Bathroom could use some upgrading. A little too tight and to me looks like a two star hotel's bathroom.

Review 87:Hotel location is great. Close proximity to shopping, Stanley Park, restaurants. I love that we were at the top floor where the view was breathtaking.

Review 88:I would have liked to have known how much the hotel charges for parking and I would have like to have known the extra charges (PST etc) so I could calculate the total before I came.

Review 89:Pay $30+/day for parking which isn't very secure. Security "patrols" are sporadic and thieves know the schedule. The Front Desk tells you to put all valuables "out of sight" in trunk or glove comparment of the vehicle. I did. Broken into anyway and management would do nothing. Not even refund the parking fee.

Review 90:Good location and reasonable price.

Review 91:Got a little cold at night, slow elevator

Review 92:Staff was very friendly, and the rooms were very comfy. The view was awesome and found parking on robson street which is free 10pm- 9am.

Review 93:Lack of concierge or info point person; lacklustre lounge, lobby, and hallways; bed hard as bricks. Just ho-hum. Not worth the price.

Review 94:Great view in corner room, 30th floor. Good location.

Review 95:They didn't have room service. Most you could do was order ahead and then go pick it up. Being on the 26th floor it was annoying. Bathroom was renovated except for the tub which was a salmon brown and was showing its age. It kinda spoiled the look and reminded me I was in a 1970s building.

Review 96:The room was updated, clean, modern. Comfy bed. Great view.

Review 97:we had breakfast in the restaurant not as menu listed - the eggs were great the coffee was okay - the bacon was burnt in spots, soft in spots - it listed crispy red potato's - we got soft deep fried combination of potato's - jam was good - service was great

Review 98:the hotel is close to all amenities downtown - service is great - room is clean

Review 99:Hearing the rain gutters all night it was raining heavy Booked on the Lowest floor(3) was this the only room available. Hearing cars leaving and arriving all night honking head light etc

Review 100:Convenient to every thing (bank stores. Rest.

Review 101:The rooms were comfortable but starting to get old looking. The bathtub especially was out dated and a face lift is needed soon but was clean. Adding a microwave to room would be a huge plus.

Review 102:We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The location was excellent, being close to restaurants, bars, shopping etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We are repeat guests.

Review 103:One breakfast wasn't quite the quality I'd expected. Perhaps thechef had an "off" day!

Review 104:I liked the great view, the coffee maker, the hotel's locationclose to shopping , restaurants and transit. There is a restaurantin the hotel and parking if you need it (didn't this visit butdid previously). I will certainly stay here again when I visit fromthe Island.

Review 105:This is about the 5th time I've stayed at the Blue Horizon and have never had a problem.

Review 106:Perfect location in YVR. Close to shopping, Stanley Park and the waterfront. YVR is a walkable town, Blue Horizon is smack dab in the middle of everything! The rooms are big - ask for a higher floor room with a balcony and watch people on Robson street.

Review 107:Only drawback is no gym facility. The exercise room consisted of a treadmill and elliptical. I would have enjoyed more of a dedicated gym/exercise space.

Review 108:Lovely room. And the location was splendid. Restaurant very nice and great staff.

Review 109:For nothing more than a very basic room (no separate shower, no breakfast, next to a noisy ice machine), the price is outrageously high. There are many fair priced alternatives in Vancouver which offer the same good location but much better facilities.

Review 110:Bathroom incompliance with king size room at all, should be improved to proper quality.

Review 111:Good location right in the middle of Robson street, there's variety restaurants, coffee houses and also a London Drug just away around 100m. Nice staff to offer hand when my parents left room card.

Review 112:Great location in the downtown, 10 minutes walk to the metro station. Small food store is 200 m away; a lot of restaurants nearby. Our room on the 20th floor was quiet, minimal street noise.

Review 113:The Blue Horizon is situated in a fun area of Vanouver; is reasonably priced and has a great dry sauna, hot tub and pool. We also enjoyed a good breakfast in the Adobe Restaurant. We will definitely stay here again.

Review 114:First front desk worker I encountered was abrupt and rid e. We were an hour and a half early for check-in. The first time they were so friendly and accommodating. This time he was adamant that we had to leave and come back .

Review 115:Free upgrade to the 30th floor for our honeymoon by the second front desk worker! he was awesome!

Review 116:The AC was as loud as a V8, which made it impossible to have it on while trying to sleep.

Review 117:We had a great view from the 27th floor overlooking the city and the sea. Even better view from the balcony. The room felt spacious thanks to the corner windows.

Review 118:Poor ventilation bathroom fan and those images of the woman in theelevators is disturbing.

Review 119:Allowed us to store our luggage when we checked out & then pick itup later in the day. It was tagged and numbered, very nice.

Review 120:• breakfast not included • no free water bottles in fridge

Review 121:I liked the location - close to everything within walking distance. It was very quiet in the hallway no traffic or loud kids. The corner unit on 24th floor had a great view of the city and ocean. The windows provided a great deal of natural light not to mention a great view of the city at night and view of the moon. I would like to have breakfast included and provide real milk for the i suite coffee maker; and have a few water bottles in the fridge. The pool area was nice again nice sunlight. Whirl pool and sauna were a great touch. Free wifi was a great perk too. Abode was fantastic and friendly smiling staff very accommodating. Would definitely recommend to others.

Review 122:Bathroom was small, got a knock on the door from being "too loud" at 920pm which seemed a little early

Review 123:Loved the windows in the room and the balcony

Review 124:I have a disability and s better set of bars to get on and off the toilet would have been an improvement. No view to speak of.

Review 125:Proximity to Stanley park and good selection of restaurants near by.

Review 126:No parking available for our truck. Parking structure to short! So, we had to pay for parking, even though it was included!

Review 127:FABULOUS VIEW FROM ROOM 3006!

Review 128:Can't think of anything.

Review 129:Friendly staff, very clean hotel and rooms, very comfortable beds and quiet despite being right on Robson in Vancouver. Also great value for room and location.

Review 130:Poor sound proofing, poor internet reception. No Ethernet port in room, could not plug in for internet to get a faster and stronger signal.

Review 131:Very affordable accommodations, close to shops and office.

Review 132:We didn't use the pool area - it didn't look very appealing. The hotel is very large so housekeeping didn't get to our room until later in the afternoon - we had returned to our room for a quick recharge at that point and had to leave again.

Review 133:large room, nice view, very clean and comfortable beds. Nothing exciting or unique but good hotel in a good location.
