Reviews for Hôtel de la Rose
Review 1:Wonderfully located in the heart of Fribourg, near the cathedral, the hotel is basically in an a old, reconditioned building who captures the charm of Fribourg's magic and history. The staff is extremely friendly and professional.
Review 2:I booked this on line and could not correct a booking date error. I ended up getting the hotel for a better price on day of booking but lostyou $$ without ability to correct date. Probably won't book online again
Review 3:Not applicable.
Review 4:I liked the location very much! The value for money (i.e., in Switzerland) is high! I will definitely come back soon and I can highly recommendate this hotel to other scientists visiting Fribourg ;-)!
Review 5:My (single) room has been tiny. with the window being blocked by a bathroom wall. Not up to the expected standard.
Review 6:The hotel is centrally located in Fribourg. Close to cathedral and attractions. Breakfast in the hotel was top notch.
Review 7:The room was small, the bed was slightly hard, and the view was of the back of another building. Be sure to get a room facing the street and splurge for a nicer room! Great place for a weekend getaway to explore this beautiful city.
Review 8:The location was absolutely excellent, just right in the center of town!
Review 9:There are only two downsides to the hotel. It is noisy for rooms on the street side if in the summer months when you need to leave the window open. The church bells did not bother us at all, however, the motorcycles and buses were quite loud and the noise seems to echo. Just ask for a room on the side opposite the street. The wifi was not strong in the room - fine for e-mail, but not strong enough if you have anything to do related to work online. However, we would definitely stay at this hotel again
Review 10:Almost everything about this hotel was excellent. Location is great. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were immaculate.
Review 11:Rooms were very hot, although they did provide a small fan. Breakfast very basic.
Review 12:Rooms were clean if a little small, they had all you would expect in a room.
Review 13:Charming hotel, very comfortable. Perfect location for both old town and new. Have stayed in other central hotels and wouldn't recommend them but I would definitely recommend hotel de la rose
Review 14:having been a regular customer of the hotel de la rose, I was very dissapointed in what was a very small room with only a small that could only open half due to design made for a very uncomfortable stay.
Review 15:Room very small, same for the bathroom. Breakfast basic and expensive for the offer.
Review 16:Room was clean and renewed. Location in center of the city. Friendly staff.
Review 17:The bedroom was very small and the bathroom was tiny - and this was for a "superior" room!
Review 18:Good location in the centre of the old town. Very friendly and helpful staff with good standard of spoken English.
Review 19:Pity there's no bar or even a mini-bar...but I know now for the next time.
Review 20:Staff very pleasant. Responded to my requests positively. Good bed, good shower, super-clean.
Review 21:great location, enought parking. Park over the street at the public parking, it's free from I believe 19.00 to 8.00. There is an excellent restaurant just around the corner at the Rue Pierre Abby. It's on the left side about 50 meters after the corner
Review 22:We purchased the breakfast (continental) buffet for our family. It was set up at 7am and was staffed with the nicest people-Would definitely recommend. Lastly, hotel is in a great location and we did not hear any street noise from the rooms that we stayed in. Had connecting rooms for our teenagers.
Review 23:The downside of being at the very center of the old town is hearing the clock bells every hour and being awoken early in the morning by the church bells. But this inconvenience is very minor compared to the upsides of the hotel.
Review 24:Great location in the center of the old town, close to some very good restaurants. Compared to the nearby cities and towns Fribourg generally offers good value.
Review 25:A LOT! -Awful parking situation! Only a public parking, 3 CHF every 2 hours, from 8:00 to 18:30 Whole day busy with parking and coins. - The hotel is VERY clearaudient. I could hear phone calls, talks from the hallway and from other rooms. - No Minibar in the room. - No nice lobby to sit and chill with a drink. - WLAN not very stron, too weak to skype. - Bad light, room can't be rally lightened up. Especially in the winter time a minus. - The Lady at the front desk (arriving) was quite arrogant. - First I didn't get the room I booked. After asking there was one of the renovated rooms. But only the room was renovated, not hte bath, which still had a horrible tasteless "design". - Awfully and much too intense smelling Pine-forrest-showergel. Even with perfume hard to cover. - Pillows not comfortable. !!! There is a hill and stairs to the main entrance, no chance to roll the trolley from the car to the room. Resume: I didn't like the hotel and didn't feel welcome at all! And - it's much too expensive for what you get.
Review 26:- Location o.k. - Coffee and tea in the room (but water can't be really boiled, temperature too low) - Free small water bottle in the room. - Bed o.k. - Windows can be covered dark.
Review 27:No room service only a vending machine available with chocolates and crisps...two single beds were very small and narrow...our bedroom was opposite the lifts and the noise of people coming and going was unbearable...therefore lack of sleep :-( no bar fridge in room and different to what is stipulated on booking.com....definately not 4 star status!
Review 28:The staff were friendly, wi fi good, location excellent...
Review 29:Loved the room, super bright and airy! Very nice bathroom and closet/room amenities. Great location. I would highly recommend this hotel. Nice café below! Loved the shower soaps!
Review 30:Only one thing: I was there too short)
Review 31:I would recommand this hotel because its localization is really great! By the window you can see old town, its life and its rhythm. Another advantages are absolutely clean room, comfortable bed and bathroom.
Review 32:Amazing building in an amazing location. It's a shame that more of the original features have not been retained inside the building though. Ah well... The service was very good, the rooms were modern and spotless, and the breakfast was of a high standard and of a good value. I have no hesitations recommending Hotel we la Rose!
Review 33:We had a very noisy room facing the main street. Parking is a lucky matter... there are a few spots in front of the hotel and the covered parking is a bit far.
Review 34:We didn´t like much...
Review 35:very confortable beds. quiet area and well centered. kettle to warm up water to make coffee. Tea bags would be a nice addition!
Review 36:Have stayed here several times and on each occasion for a number of nights. Staff always helpful and room always very clean and well maintained.
Review 37:N/A
Review 38:The location in the historic centre of Fribourg, the short walk - with great views - to the train station. Close to the cathedral.
Review 39:Room to small, very noisy, to expensive for this type of room.Bathroom was old and very small
Review 40:Staff was friendly
Review 41:The staff was helpful and breakfast delicious. Our stay was a quick 1 night.
Review 42:Not too much choices.
Review 43:Was hard to sleep because Room 449 is wrapped around the elevator. The bed was also a little short.
Review 44:Very central location. Free wifi
Review 45:Suited our needs whilst visiting family
Review 46:The rooms and lack of conveniences
Review 47:Very noisy on the front, ask for a room away from the road , complimentary earplugs are found in the bathroom!!
Review 48:Attentive staff Great location
Review 49:Nothing!
Review 50:location, helpful staff
Review 51:General low standards for the high price! Small rooms Poor wifi quality

Review 57:Nothing
Review 58:Room very clean and spacious, any kind of comfort, good location, great value for money
Review 59:Room price was high.
Review 60:Nice, clean rooms. Restaurants were just a step away.
Review 61:Great for exploring the old town. Convenient for shopping. I have stayed three times now and would recommend your hotel to anyone visiting from Australia. Brenda - Coolangatta
Review 62:The room was not that clean. there was hair on the bed sheet when we arrived.
Review 63:Friendly staff, the location is perfect and 15 minutes walk from the train station.
Review 64:Disappointed that no British TV channels. Have stayed in cheaper Swiss hotels which have provided this service.
Review 65:Good sized comfortable room. Continental breakfast very varied and excellent coffee in a pleasant atmosphere.
Review 66:The location of the hotel is great. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and polite. The building where the hotel is located has a lot of charm as well.
Review 67:The church bells kept me awake all night. Ear plugs are provided in the room, which gives an idea how bad the noise is !
Review 68:Clean room, good value last minute deal.
Review 69:Not quite a four-star hotel. Our room on the 4th floor was dark and had a worn-down feeling. Noise from the elevator. Modest breakfast
Review 70:Good location in old town
Review 71:I would have liked there to have been a restaurant that was in the hotel open other than for breakfast.
Review 72:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast were great! Good coffee and nice buffet.
Review 73:- Bed is a little bit too small for two persons - Opposed to what's told on booking.com there is NO On-Site-Parking. However if you are lucky then here are some parking lots on the street.
Review 74:- Location in the city center is very good. - Staff is friendly - Clean
Review 75:No cafe or food available outside breakfast and the Kit Kat in the minibar cost a whopping 3 Francs.
Review 76:Location in the city centre, near to a selection of the best restaurants. Travel by bus from outside the hotel was easy. Great breakfast.
Review 77:The room was clean however the staff was not attentive. There was a light broken in my tiny room with a tiny window which never got fixed during my four night stay. It is an inexpensive hotel but for my money next time I will stay at Hotel du Faucon down the street.
Review 78:The room cleaners started to work too early-- for me. I was still in a sleep when they started cleaning with noisy hoover at 8 am. The check out time is 12:00 so I wanted to sleep longer as it is my holiday. I don't know if the underground bar/disco in the same building is the hotel's facility but I didn't enjoy that bar/disco... music was just AWFUL.
Review 79:Reception staff were polite and helpful. Even it was an 'economy' room, the room was big enough and bath room was good size with bath. Driving there was easy from A12. Not in the middle of the centre but easy walking distance to the centre, and I liked it. View from the window was good.
Review 80:The staff was not really good in any language (only french). There wasno free wifi at all in the bar only one commonly used computer. Theytold us at 10 pm that we should drink from the minibar because it is toolate for having service in the lobby. I am not sure if there is a bar atall. Absolutely bad price / value.
Review 81:Though I thought my room was non-smoking, there was still a distinctsmell of second hand smoke that wafted through. It was not horrible, andreally the only negative of my whole stay here. Otherwise, great valuefor the hotel!
Review 82:We do not appreciate hard (cement) mattresses on beds or scratchy towelsand bed linens. We also hope the one small piece of soap did notoverstretch the hotel budget; fortunately there was a store where wewere able to buy soap, shampoo, etc.
Review 83:It was clean.
Review 84:I didn't like the fact that I booked this hotel for 160 Chf per nightand they charge me 190 Chf per night and with all the taxes (ofcity, turist etc) I got around 200 Chf per night so be carefull whenbooking their prices and booking.com prices may be a hole lotdifferent...
