Reviews for YWCA Hotel Vancouver
Review 1:I was so grateful to Maria and the other staff who assisted me when I left my laptop computer in the hotel and needed it to be couriered to Victoria!! Great service!! A special thank you to Maria
Review 2:Staff were excellent especially short young lady Ari? and elegant fair Elena? Wonderful informative and nothing was too much trouble. In terms of directions and any information they were outstanding, BETTER than Vancouver Tourist Information Centre. I miss there warm and friendly faces.
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:Underground parking at a reasonable rate was a great deal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location made our visit great as we could just park the car and walk to everything.
Review 5:The staff was so nice and always super friendly, our room was clean, the bed very comfortable and we had such a great view out of the window. The location was great, we could reach everything by walking.
Review 6:The hotel room we got had a window that faced an alley way to the right of the hotel. If the room was in a different part of the hotel, the view would've been better.
Review 7:The hotel is right beside the BC place, well within walking distance to many shops, food and the casino.
Review 8:The walls were a bit thin so you may hear conversations coming from adjacent rooms.
Review 9:Clean, simple facilities. Had everything I needed on a short stay in Vancouver.
Review 10:Shared bathroom not always available during the night especially for elderly people but we're re-roomed for convenience, so thank you to the staff also for minding our suitcase.
Review 11:The staff were very helpful. Shared bathroom only ok bed very comfortable and location good. Wifi a plus !!
Review 12:There was a shared door from my room to my neighbour's washroom - but only they have access to it. The door was so thin I heard everything, which really sucked when they were up every couple hours in the night using it.
Review 13:Convenient location, great value.
Review 14:Some cooktops on the kitchen were not working. Some kitchens had no basic things such as salt, pepper, sugar, oil, pans.
Review 15:Helpful Staff. Easy walking distance to everywhere in downtown. Kitchen and dishes on the reception free to use.
Review 16:We booked 2 adults and 1kid room, but when we got there, there was just a small size double room, we couldn't sleep and felt not uncomfortable whole night because of the limit space bed. we also lost food( milk and bread )which we put in the refrigerator. In addition ,The time had already 12:00 Pm but somebody took shower next door
Review 17:Comfortable beds, friendly and welcoming staff, all the facilities you could want including a laundry. Location allowed for easy travel around the city either walking or on the skytrain. Will be staying there again.
Review 18:Great location in Yaletown, clean shared bathrooms that I never had any trouble accessing whenever I needed, and a lot of little touches I didn't expect such as shower gel, towels, real down duvets and comfortable sheets & pillows. I've stayed in hostels all over the world and this is one of the best. Parking was secure underground.
Review 19:They gave us the wrong key, and we tried to enter the room they gave us the key for, that was all ready occupied...needless to say it was a bit of an embarrassing encounter.
Review 20:Really nice rooms, comfy beds, clean, fantastic location and amazing price for where it was.
Review 21:Sharing a bathroom was a little weird. I worried I would forget to lock my side and wake up with someone in my room. This didnt happen though.
Review 22:The staff were always really upbeat and went out of their way to be helpful. It had a very personal feel about it. The big fridge in the room was great for keeping snacks and breakfast food in. The little seating area out the front was nice for chilling out in. Surprisingly green for a city centre hotel.
Review 23:The location was perfect. Just a walk to fantastic eating places and the CBD and the harbour. We had a share bathroom and this works really well. No inconvenience. Staff are very helpful. We got a great deal on a sim card thanks to them. All sorts of faciliies such as kitchens, washing and fast reliable wi fi. We will be back.
Review 24:We found the staff to be particularly friendly and helpful .....even down to sorting out our troubles with our mobile phone.....the facilities were great....a kitchen where individual crockery and cutlery were supplied and a handy laundry for guests as well.......and the location was central to all the interesting areas......we walked everywhere
Review 25:Location is perfect, hotel is clean & comportable. Most great is staff. When I have trouble my flight they are great help to me. I am deeply grateful to ywca staff.
Review 26:Central location close to downtown and public transit. The room had a great view, was very clean, smelled good, bed was comfy and it was quiet all night.
Review 27:Only very minor gripe is the beds are rather small width wise
Review 28:Cracking hotel, great location and really friendly, helpful staff. Although it was a shared bathroom I never had to wait to use it and it was always clean.
Review 29:Shared bathroom.I thought I reserved a room with a private bathroom, but Im assuming that it was my error. But in the end, there was a bathroom in the hallway and it was very clean and there was never a lineup. This hotel is also right across the street from the football stadium. This isnt a bad thing (as I managed to stay in here when there no game being played) but I cant speak for those staying here during a home game. Beds werent bad, but they werent the best. Then again, I can speak for most when I say that I dont plan on staying in bed all day and all night upon recreational travel to another city.
Review 30:The staff were very friendly upon checking in, and gave me information about the area. I think what blew me away more than anything is that this is the first hotel Ive ever stayed at where DEBIT VISA is accepted! I go to Vancouver once every season, and upon using my debit visa on Booking.com for reservations, I end up getting dirty looks from every hotel I check into due to the fact that usually only regular credit cards are accepted. But my DV was happily accpeted and I would say that I spent less than 10 minutes combined for check-in and check-out time. I highly recommend this hotel, and plan on staying here again for future visits.
Review 31:Loved the location, friendly & welcoming staff. Kitchen facility on my floor - 10th floor was awesome and ideal for families or those who wanted to eat at a table with a view of the BC Stadium.
Review 32:n/a
Review 33:I like the fact that the "shared bathroom and shower" are accessible without leaving your room. You simply go into the bathroom, press a button that locks your neighbor's entrance to the bathroom, and when you're finished the button will unlock. Return into your room, and lock your entrance to the bathroom.
Review 34:Right across the street from BC Place stadium and close to Rogers Arena. Best value for coming to Vancouver for concerts or sports events at those two venues.
Review 35:The staff was so helpful. Every time we had a question they spent plenty of time with us, giving us answers. Location was great. Comfort was great. Wi-fi was great. We didn't pay xtra for it; it was part of our price.
Review 36:Pretty small room. Room is cold with the ac on and warm with it off, soyou have to go back and forth. Shower only, and the floor gets wet fromshower water. No fitness room or pool.
Review 37:Free Wifi. Crib provided for baby. Rooms have fridges. Close toSkytrain. Right across from Stadium and close to Robson street with allthe restaurants and shops, plus the cbc tv building nearby too. After wechecked out, they let us leave our car in the garage (for $15can) as wespent the day on the waterfront. Atm and coffee shop on sight.
Review 38:It seemed like a lot of money to share a bathroom. The system of sharing was a bit weird and would have preferred to just to use a floor bathroom at a lower cost. The bathroom was one that was adjoined by two rooms, when one person goes in they push a button to prevent the neighboring room from entering, too stressfull and noisy, and not worth the price.
Review 39:Staff was awesome, and although this is not a central hotel, it was easy walking distance to Yaletown.
Review 40:The room I reserved has no private washroom, just a little inconvenient to remember to bring the room key and go to the washroom in the hallway.
Review 41:location's good - a few big supermarkets are within walking distance. Has kitchens.
Review 42:Awesome place to stay. Good location, easy walk to restaurants and attractions. Good amenities and helpful staff. Great value for money, highly recommend staying here.
Review 43:Location is perfect. Facilities for washing your clothes and even several kitchens if you want to cook your own meal. Small parkinglot beneath the building for $15 a day. Lots of restaurants in the neighbourhood.
Review 44:The luggage storage room and easy access anytime of day, plus the very friendly staff were wonderful features. The room and amenities were top notch and a pleasurable surprise for the price, not to mention a clean safe preferable location. We arrived by cruise ship, took the skytrain easily to within walking distance of the hotel, and walked our bags to the bus/train station upon departure. It was a quiet, secure, respectful and pleasant experience - we totally recommend it for the price!
Review 45:No tea/coffee facilities. And very noisy air conditioning.
Review 46:Great location, helpful staff, very clean room with fridge, a good TV, aircon, and excellent wifi. Also a good laundry on every few floors which was very useful. Great value for money, and also good to know some of it goes to help in the community.
Review 47:No bad experience however it was my first time I had to share a washroom though with the couple next door. It was very secure. It is nice not to have to share a washroom though especially when you don't know who you are sharing with???
Review 48:The price and location were very good as I was in transit to fly overseas and just wanted to spend a day downtown for shopping. I took the metro to Vancouver Int'l Airport.
Review 49:The location was very central - a short walk from the skytrain station. The facilities, including the kitchen and laundry facilities, suited our needs perfectly. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 50:Bed (mattress and pillow and bed sheet) are firm comfortable and good quality and able to accommodate 3 bed. Place is clean , staff is polite and helpful and location is excellent. I have stayed in other hotel in Vancouver and Canada and paid twice the price ( e.g. on Sandman Suite @ the Davies which is poor in cleanliness and sloppy maintenance ) not get the cleanness and quality on the basics ( but lots of frills we not need (e.g.: restaurants, meeting rooms, business centre, lounge etc etc. )
Review 51:I had a few problems getting a taxi when I left the hotel: someone working the front desk phone for a taxi for me, which never turned up; she then phoned back, and was told a taxi was coming, but that taxi never turned up either, so I ended up walking. Getting a better taxi service -- or at least one that takes my name, so that my taxi isn't taken by someone else when it turnes up -- would be great.
Review 52:The location is great, and the hotel is really good value for money.
Review 53:My sister lost an earring and so had to look under bed ... could vacuum more thoroughly. Otherwise clean.
Review 54:It was very convenient location and quiet. Parking was very reasonable and safe. Staff was helpful.
Review 55:Would have liked a coffee maker in the room even though there was a coffee kiosk in the lobby.
Review 56:Close to many things downtown Vancouver. Went to Rodgers Stadium for a concert and was only a 5 minute walk. Underground parking was easy to access and walked and shopped downtown with no problem. Close to buses if needed.
Review 57:Sharing a bathroom down the hall wasn't great but it was clean and functional and the convenience of the location combined with the price was worth the small annoyance.
Review 58:Right from the beginning the people made it special. They were friendly without being false, helpful without being annoying. Also the beds were very comfortable.
Review 59:Sharing bathroom was hassel Our co users seemed to have unusual habits such as showering at 3 pm
Review 60:good location Very affordable for Vancouver in summer. Staff helpful and pleasant
Review 61:Nothing.
Review 62:Very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Affordable price and location in downtown. The YWCA hotel is probably the most optimal place to stay in Vancouver in terms of money vs. quality.
Review 63:It's not the newest hotel or the cleanest but if u need a cheap place toay your head for the night it's great for the money.
Review 64:Awesome location and the staff was very friendly. Safe area too
Review 65:The carpet was a bit dirty, especially near the edges.
Review 66:The position was really convenient to Canada Place, Chinatown , Gastown and Yale town. We enjoyed walking to all those places and seeing the attractions. We loved our authentic Asian Breakfasts and dinners at New Town bakery and cafe in Chinatown. The chinese cakes and buns are as good as those on Sydney.
Review 67:The hotel was easy to reach, near a metro station. The staff was friendly and helped with the issue with the bed we had and got it replaced as we were out and about without any hassle.
Review 68:Well I kinda wished I paid more and stayed at a nicer place but at a reduced duration. That's just personal preference. The place is supposed to be renovated but the room still feels like there's a mix of 80-90's feel to it. Think of a university residence marrying a renovated hotel.
Review 69:I think the price was cheaper than nearby hotels so there's value attached to it. It's more like a high end hostel than it is a hotel really, but that's what it's marketed as. Friendly staff. Super fast internet (30 megabit/second). Great location - close to robson, China town, yaletown, gas town, etc.
Review 70:We had originally reserved a twin room with a shared bathroom. We were horrified to find that there was a single bathroom and shower on each floor--and our room was a good distance from it. We found it necessary to upgrade to a room with a private bathroom; and for the same cost, we could have stayed in a hotel with free WiFi and coffee amenities in our room. We used the communal kitchen to make coffee in the morning, and found it unkempt and dirty. We reported this to the front office, and they assured us that they would have someone check it. We were disappointed that the kitchen is not monitored daily for cleanliness.
Review 71:Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was basic, clean and comfortable.
Review 72:Everything is good. We stayed in a triple room without a private bathroom. It's a little inconvenient but didn't bother much. Never need to wait. The kitchen is a plus.
Review 73:The elevator doors don't stay open long enough, one side-checked me as I was entering and I spilled hot coffee on my hand and the floor.
Review 74:In town for a concert, we were happy to stay in a location that was a very short walk to the arena. The stadium-Chinatown skytrain station are just one block away which made exploring the city very easy. Our room was quiet and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!
Review 75:Staff were not very friendly, didn't like not having wifi provided with our stay
Review 76:Picked this hotel for location wise, likes the bed spread, liked the security
Review 77:Loved our stay at the YWCA Hotel Vancouver! Basic, but clean and quiet. Staff very pleasant. Great location very near Sky Train station and within short walking distance of most central Vancouver activities. Will stay here again!
Review 78:My son and I stayed here so we could attend a concert at Rogers Arena, it was a great price for the location. I dont drive in Vancouver so walking or buses are the way to go and this was the perfect spot to stay.
Review 79:Can't think of anything.
Review 80:Our travel agent told us about it and I'm glad she did. It was close to everything and has a kitchen where you could cook some of your meals. Overall we would stay here again.
Review 81:YWCA staff were very helpful. United left my luggage in San Fran and didn't deliver it till 10 at night, the staff called to tell me it had arrived and being half asleep, the staff brought it to my room for me even though I was happy to come down and get it the next day. The location was terrific, a walk to Granville Island and main shopping areas.
Review 82:The hotel is amazing because it's clean, quiet and very well located, just a few blocks from many interesting places. If you stay facing the Beatty St, you'll have an amazing view of the BC Stadium. By walking you could easily get the Pacific Centre, one of the most popular centre malls of Vancouver. There's a Skytrain station nearby that connect you to other areas of the city. There are kitchens and laundries in some floors, witch is very convenient and helps you to save a lot of money. Also, the front-desk people are extremely helpful and lovely people.
Review 83:The walls are a bit thin for good sound insulation. Shared bathroom rooms which was the only rooms available to me created some awkward scenarios where you take EXTRA effort to make sure you don't dirty up the place and put the toilet seat cover down after each use. Maybe a good thing , maybe not. That's the only 2 downside I can think of.
Review 84:Clean rooms Friendly and supportive staff Good temperature regulation Plenty of TV channels and stable wi-fi Good security - hotel front doors lock at 11PM and the lifts require your room keycard to operate. Frequently changed towels. Housekeepers who takes pride in their jobs , they even folded by pajamas which I had lying on the bed
Review 85:I tried out a shared bathroom and it was ok. Maybe next time I will pay more for private bath.
Review 86:Near public bus stop, across street from stadium, walk to Yaletown restaurants.quiet room with tv and wifi as part of room fee Great value. Safe neighborhood. Near opera, ballet and theatre. Will return
Review 87:From what i booked, i felt the room wasn't what i wanted, where as i made my point clear what i wanted, i was given a different room which was great
Review 88:Location, comfort, value
Review 89:The room gave a $50 a feel to it. No coffee/tea in the room and the extra large key tag was difficult to tote around "gas stations would be jealous".
Review 90:The bed was comfy, the chair at the desk was good and the pen was nice enough to take.
Review 91:we shared a bathroom and shower room and thought it was the one between our room and the next room, but they were down the hall. They were fine but would never share this type of facility again.
Review 92:excellent staff and location, cleanliness and comfort of room, general ambiance of hotel.
Review 93:We had a double room with own bathroom so probably a bit spoilt in comparison to dorms and shared bathroom, but if this is the type of accommodation you're looking for I can thoroughly recommend it
Review 94:Very comfortable beds and rooms. We relied on the staff for local information as well as hotel business and all of them were always very helpful and friendly. Excellent location for eateries and travel.
Review 95:The share bath was a bit messy when we arrived, which was disconcerting, but have to say it did get picked up after they realized that they really had to share.
Review 96:Location great, staff excellent, easy to use.
Review 97:Sometimes we felt the red light in the shared bathroom didn't stay on so weren't sure if we had our privacy. But in saying that we had no embarrassing moments....!
Review 98:The staff at counter were helpful in finding us somewhere to buy food. Also the kitchen/kitchenette were very good as we are ones that prefer to prepare our own food. So being able to have bowls cups etc with no charge was very good. Also having a laundry at reasonable charge was good also.
Review 99:Upon checking in the desk staff took the time to answer all our questions and let us know hotel policy and services available. When we checked out again we had a minor request and received the staff members full attention and were helped in a positive way. I send a special thanks to the staff and management you know what you are doing.
Review 100:Shared bathroom sometimes awkward but hence cheaper room. No kettle etc in room which was disappointed about. Not great view - buildings however we spent days out of room so wasn't to much of problem!
Review 101:Had sink in room due to shared toilet and shower. Comfy bed. Good price for great location!
Review 102:Sharing the bathroom with the room next door, is a bit awkward but, after the first day, it works just fine. My room (505) faced a rather noisy backyard, but no problems with the window closed
Review 103:Comfortable bed Quiet Location Lobby Wifi
Review 104:Next time I would get a room with a private bath.
Review 105:It was close to central downtown Vancouver , spotlessly clean and quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 106:We had a shared bathroom. There is only one toilet per floor. We had hot weather and the corridors were too hot although there was good air con and windows in room
Review 107:Staff very very friendly and helpful. The location is just a short walk from down great food & shopping. You can also use the ywca gym which is located away from the hotel. The rooms are very clean though small.
Review 108:YWCA is really well located on Beatty Street, really clean, perfect little rooms. I had a private room with a shared bathroom and it was fabulous. Slept brilliantly, the beds were really comfy - I can't recommend it enough.
Review 109:Only thing was that the in-room fridge froze everything. This was a minor problem.
Review 110:We returned after a recent trip to the same place and were extremely happy again. Perfect position for everything with the best in room information on how to get everywhere that I have ever seen. The staff were very informative and eager to help. The room was very comfortable, felt spacious and was very clean. If I return to Vancouver I will stay here again.
Review 111:I can't say I have an dislikes.
Review 112:Close to China town and Yale town for shopping and good choice of restaurants in both areas. Very easy to get around with good bus service and Sky train. Great area for walking.
Review 113:coffee shop closed early
Review 114:could walk to Canada Place, alternatively was also fairly close to Sky Train...staff were excellent, nice to have a healthy snack vending machine
Review 115:Sharing a bathroom with one other room. key would not open the other larger one down the hall.
Review 116:Reasonable parking, location, comfortable and clean room, coffee and latte little shop.
Review 117:Everything! It was a great location for me as I was going for surgery at St Paul's. The location was perfect. A staff member called a cab for me in the early morning. The cab arrived within a couple of minutes, and the ride to the hospital was less than five minutes.
Review 118:We were travelling from Seattle to Whistler, via Vancouver. The Vancouver stop was from midnight to 6am the next morning. We were greeted well at such a late hour. It was very fast and cheap to get there from Amtrak station. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The morning exit was very smooth. We will definitely stay there again if we return to Vancouver and are planning to go back there in a week, after Whistler!
Review 119:An asian male receptionist is not so polite. When I returned the lobby toliet key and hair dryer to him and said "thank you". This is no word , no expression from his mouth and face at all.
Review 120:great location. easy to find and go shopping on Robinson street. Some people complain the toilet is outside. Think about the price you paid! This is value for money.
