Reviews for Deerhurst Resort

Review 1:hotel fees are quite high if only staying for 1 night (and not getting a chance to take advantage of any of the activities as the pool was closed that evening)

Review 2:Hotel is gorgeous, very well decorated, and feels very comfortable. Location is great, easy access to a selection of activities

Review 3:The staff were friendly, courteous, pleasant and made you feel that you were valued. Customer service went above and beyond. Always a smile and a pleasure to deal with.

Review 4:Loved having a balcony but it was a view of the Parking lot so not the greatest.

Review 5:Beautiful room! Loved the fire place in the living room. the bedroom was very nice and having the black out curtains in the bedroom allowed us to sleep in Sunday morning!

Review 6:Stayed in a Summit Lodge. The room was well equipped with all the comforts of home including cutlery and dishware. The room was not seen by house keeping everyday unless it was requested, but this was nice because it made it feel more like a little cottage/condo than a hotel stay. The room was stylish yet cozy.

Review 7:C02 detector starting beeping at 1:00 in the morning. Staff decided to move us to a room next door. Toilet in the room next door didn't flush. Had to go between rooms in PJ's to use bathroom. We stayed one more night. At checkout the young staff didn't mention or offer any consideration for our bad night. Had to ask for something. They offered breakfast. Should have been one night free or free night in the future. We spent $500 for the 2 nights. Can't recommend it. We had once booked at the Royal York with our 4 kids. They didn't have a room for us when we arrived. We were about to leave to try to find another place when the concierge offered to show us a room they wanted to offer for the mix up. Turned out to be a 1400 SqFt 2 bedroom suite for the same price as we had booked for 1 room. That's the way to do it. Left us with a good feeling.

Review 8:Excellent meal of Norwegian Cod in the dining room

Review 9:We were upgraded to a 3 bedroom condo when we checked in - this would normally be appreciated, but we were there for a romantic getaway and had booked a 1 bedroom suite. The condos were in a different building towards the back of the property. Also, the fireplace was broken when we arrived. Another negative.

Review 10:The location is ideal. A short drive off the main highway through the park. The property itself is stunning, on the lake with two golf courses winding through. It gives you the feel of a high end luxury hotel.

Review 11:When I booked this they told me the price for three nights was $537.00.When we checked out they made no mention of resort fee of 30.00 per day. I was very angry and will never stay there again.

Review 12:The area was nice. The show was good. Little overpriced for what you get. Nit enough towels in our room. Horseback riding way over priced.

Review 13:when booked was told stay would cost 378.00 my final bill was 494.00. Food was over priced for its quality and the selection was very limited, would not stay here again.

Review 14:Great location.

Review 15:Didn't appreciate charge for on line booking when I called and booked myself . Had eggs Benedict - yolks hard in poached eggs - not worth the money . Waited forever to be served in bar. We were being ignored and yet we spent almost 300. For 2 of us !

Review 16:Beautiful setting for resort

Review 17:The additional resort fee when any of the activities available already were additional costs ( rock wall, riding ) and the waterpark of course was closed but likely the main reason for the additional fee.

Review 18:Deerhurst was wonderful but I'm a bit disappointed with Booking.com as when I reserved it seemed brew ahead was included in the rate. While confirming with the resort upon arrival and checkout, there was no indication of this and I paid $40 more, which defeated the point of not booking directly with the resort.

Review 19:The fireplace wasn't working. A light bulb in the living room wasn't working. Low water pressure in the shower head.

Review 20:The setting in Muskoka is beautiful

Review 21:It's tired looking now and is much need of a major reno. However, reno needed it or not...the cleaning staff needs a better leader...our room was never cleaned properly. The hallways are are dirty...food sitting in the hallway floor all week, elevators full of drink splatter that was never wiped down. Fitness facility needs a major upgrade!!!!

Review 22:Location and scenery is beautiful, food is great and rooms are large.

Review 23:The staff was warm and friendly although on the desk not always knowledgeable..a little confused. I think they had lost track of my reservation despite a number and all ? The Eclipse dining room felt more like an expensive cafeteria. I was looking for a more romantic setting.

Review 24:The setting ...the Muskoka region - superb.

Review 25:I found the sofa in the suite not overly comfortable.

Review 26:I thought they did a wonderful job with the set up for the meeting, as well the lunch and breakfast that was put on was very nice. The place was clean and easy to get around

Review 27:This was one of the busiest weekends of the the year - Thanksgiving/Fall colours. So the resort was at 100% capacity. It is the perfect location for this time of year Issues were some items in the suite not working - but most resolved quickly

Review 28:Staff were great They resolved any issues quickly and without question

Review 29:Somewhat perfunctory treatment upon arrival by reception desk. The cost is higher than the value received in my view.

Review 30:Location, Comfort and Functionality of Suite.

Review 31:The location of our room with a 15month old the view and the fact that we waited almost 3 hours to get a child's caught. It's was almost 10:00 at night when it arrived. No bath tubs

Review 32:Same day booking on bookings.com needed to be verified by the call centre and took over an hour after our arrival. Bartender (Scott) was unable to keep up with the bar even though it wasn't busy and didn't even ask if we wanted another round or food.

Review 33:Excellent location, close to Algonquin Park and Huntsville. Nice property and grounds

Review 34:Deerhurst couldn't find reservation made through booking.com...frontdesk staff - pleasant but not overly helpful. Told us they'd have tocreate a new reservation and the possibility of being charged twice. Also said we'd have received more perks if we had called hoteldirect. Upon calling booking.com...I Received great results...this was aproblem with Deerhurst and not booking.com. It was finally resolved bybooking.com. I was very pleased to speak to a booking.com agent whodealt with the entire fiasco and sorted it out very well. However, uponasking Deerhurst is they would consider throwing in breakfast, we werehappy to find that they complied. After huge issues with the concern ofdouble payment etc...this was appropriate and very much appreciated sowe left happy. Deerhurst is not the well kept property it once was...notto say it wasn't nice...because it was but maybe just a little"tired" This location, scenery, natural setting is fabulouswith Huntsville Marina right down the street. Boats rentals and greathelpful staff!

Review 35:Very weak location for the price of the room per night, very outdated furniture (the shower head sprayed water every which way like a cheap motel), furniture was old and worn out. On our last night, everything closed early (9pm) like a retirement home. The restaurant was closed and we were starving. The only thing open was the bar where everyone was loud. We left that night instead of the next morning at checkout because we were bored and mad with the quality of our stay.

Review 36:Good restaurant, good food quality and taste,

Review 37:Room had a huge stain on the carpet, the blow dryer didn't work, safe broke had to have it repaired, the screen door was broken and in the Compass Room it was in dire need of dusting

Review 38:Attened a wedding which was very well done. Beautiful room for the venue and the food was excellant

Review 39:When we arrived there was no hand soaps in the room. We also reported that one of the sinks was not draining properly and the balcony door did not lock. Neither of these two things were fixed during our stay. We had also requested a water view but were not provided with one.

Review 40:The food, facilities and the staff was very good.

Review 41:Restaurants were expensive near hotel the beds were not comfortable. Had to pay a 50.00 per day resort fee plus the booking.com fee which was 30.00 per day way to expensive waste of money!!!

Review 42:The location, the rooms, lots of activities to do there. Near Huntsville downtown to go get groceries, hiking trails were nice and great location.....feeling of up north!

Review 43:The rooms need work (couch was droopy, the bathroom door didn'tclose properly). The wifi is the worst ever. The breakfast is pricey, but there is no alternative unless you leave the property. Not surewhere they get off charging $300/night plus $30/day resort fee.Should be half that for the quality.

Review 44:The waterfront is lovely and there are lots of lounge chairs available.

Review 45:All the Geese pooh, the lobby area in our building was under construction because some tiles had fallen, We came a little early an we waited or a long time, even after regular check in until they gave us a room.I have a bad ankle and could not walk up three flights of stairs. The bathtub mat looked like they were from an old cottage, towels were small not luxurious, Boat ride originally scheduled did not happen as a water raft was floating away. No apology not one seemed to know exactly what was going on,. Went out the next day for boat ride.Staff generally were not as interested as in other resorts. If i would go back I would likely stay in the units facing the water. Needs some live music in the small bar areas. Was happy that we had something to do that evening went to the Opera House in Huntsville to hear David Clayton Thomas. When we went to Gravenhurst next day had dinner at Taboo . Might check that out next visit.

Review 46:I liked the lake and the beach area Good to have a kitchenette

Review 47:We had to sleep in a make shift room the first night (427) because there was no record of a reservation the 1st night. Although we had an e-reservation document. We didn't have to pay for that night. so that made us happy.

Review 48:The restraunts and the beautiful views, and the recreation facilities for our 14 year old grandchildren

Review 49:Wifi was faulty, price on check out changed. Had to check my records to confirm original offer and confirmation.

Review 50:Whole facility was gorgeous and accessible.

Review 51:Long line and wait to check in. View of the parking lot from the room. Over priced for what we received. Balcony in poor shape and furniture peeling. No room service between the nights stay .TV night working when we arrived but later in the day it was fine. Food okay but over priced. No one really seemed to care.

Review 52:Overall the staff were friendly. Great water activities.

Review 53:I wished there was a place to get a lunch snack that wasn't a full meal. We found the bay where we "should" stay with the water equipment was restrictive.

Review 54:The resort has lovely seating arrangements throughout for visiting with family, it's very conducive to relaxing and enjoying each other. The artwork everywhere was beautiful! Staff were super friendly.

Review 55:The resort seemed a bit dated. When requesting refrigeration for medication, we were told this is not possible so had to make refrigator from ice bucket in room.

Review 56:Excellent range of activities and great staff.

Review 57:Paper thin walls combined with noisy, party-goer guests on a summer weekend not ideal. Facilities older but updated nicely. Not a luxury resort although pricing would indicate such.

Review 58:Great location near Huntsville. Good amenities for families with young children.

Review 59:Tennis court was in poor condition, cracks in the foundation and net coming out of the ground. The lakeside golf course is in rough shape. The resort is too far away from everything else. It is a minimum 45 minute drive from every main attraction including casino Rama, Algonquin national park, original turtle jacks muskoka.. We also visited the resorts "upscale" restaurant 'steamers' on a Friday evening. The oysters were on special 3 for $5 which were great. We also got a second app, the anti pasto platter..which was so awful we were extremely turned off by the food to the point we had to cut our meal short, leave the restaurant, and neither of us was able to eat anything for the remainder of the day..the resort in general looks dated although the rooms are upgraded. The amenities that come included in an average one night stay ($250) are certainly not worth it when there are much nicer resorts available (such as taboo and hidden valley) for a fraction of the cost.

Review 60:We liked the view from our summit lodge that looked out onto the lake although the view was a bit obstructed by some trees. We also loved the customer service we received from Brandon who was extremely helpful despite our reservation being cancelled wrongfully by booking.com, he honoured the same rate we received through the site.

Review 61:Bed not comfortable, tennis courts a bit old, pool closed a bit early for us Friday night, breakfast expensive.

Review 62:We like the location of Deerhurst - close to activities we are interested in. Friendly staff.

Review 63:Beautiful resort and a wonderful deal, I would advise everyone to visit him,

Review 64:Couldn't find the skating rink and the food was the same in the bar as the nicer restaruant. We had to order dinner our second night from the local pizzeria.

Review 65:Pool and hot tub were nice. Planning on golfing there in the summer

Review 66:Only one place to dine for a facility that large? Very limited menuselection and the prices were high for the servings/taste of theentrees. We waited over 80 minutes for our meal and the dining roomwas only half full. We paid $35 for 2 glasses of average red wine?Come on.... Furthermore, we booked on line and were not advised ofthe "resort fees" $29.+ each until I got the conformationemail. Sneaky.

Review 67:The premise was beautiful. Desk staff very helpful.

Review 68:We had burgers for dinner and let me tell you it was the worst buger ever especially when you pay 18$ ...it was was a road kill burger one of those frozen patties from the store but the bun was good ......I don't understand why they can't make their own with home made fries

Review 69:We had good time at the resort the show was pretty good and the spa is fantastic especially David and Kyle Were very professional

Review 70:3 floors of people up until 3-4AM partying in Chalet. There was a Pond Hockey Tournament on at the time and there were party goers everywhere. Should have been put in separate Chalet. No ploughing of Resort grounds made for some interesting driving, especially near the chalets as they are on a hill.

Review 71:Facilities Eclipse Restaurant Nice Room

Review 72:Need more staff and staff training could be improved, particularly at the front desk and in restaurants. Check in was painful, with long lines, over an hour wait, and more than 15 min per guest check in each. Thus with staff admitting that new years weekend is one of their busiest.

Review 73:Lots of included activities...xcross skiing, skating, snow shoeing, rock climbing, kids activity room, gym, etc. Other activities like horseback riding, sleigh rids, skidooing, dog sledding, etc, all at reasonable seasonal prices.

Review 74:Things like parking and wifi which are advertised as free come at the cost of an undisclosed $25/night resort fee. When massages cost $200+ if expect the spa to be more than a basement dwelling afterthought. The "eucalyptus steam room" smelled like a washing machine that had the clothes left in too long.

Review 75:Very peacefull and secluded Condo style suite made things easy Bed was very comfortable

Review 76:Excellent location and amenities but not things e would otherwise use. We were meeting others and this is not the sort of facility we would normally choose.

Review 77:The price was too high for what you got. Definitely not 5 star.. Maybe2.5. Staff was polite but we had to ask 4 times for a pack and play tobe delivered to room. The indoor pool area was very untidy, not staffedand hot tub was out of order. We were midway thru a shower at 9pm andthe power was shut down. We were left with emergency lighting trying tofind our clothes and a way out of an unfamiliar building. No staff, nosigns for a supposedly planned outage that the clerk told us when wechecked out after 1 night. Material for a slasher movie.

Review 78:The 1 bedroom in Summit lodge was remodeled and the common area wasnice. The main lounge was nice and the fall scenery was great.

Review 79:Didn't like the reception upon arriving. Didn't like the service for our internet. This twice we have stayed here and twice had a problem with our internet being shut off early!

Review 80:There was no housekeeping whatsoever in the condo during our stay. A Kleenex had been dropped in the staircase to our condo on our arrival and was still there on the day we left, 4 days later!!

Review 81:Location was very convenient. Stationed on "The Green" was an amazing ambiance. Facilities appeared excellent. Loved the shower.

Review 82:The setting and the grounds were extremely beautiful. The staff were so very friendly and made us feel special as it was our 45th wedding anniversary. The dinner at Eclipse Restaurant was to die for. The after dinner show was fun. Everything was perfect.

Review 83:Felt the "resort charge" was not justified.

Review 84:Restaraunts were excellent, especially Steamers. Golf course also excellent and the service received.

Review 85:Just the phone responsiveness.

Review 86:We loved our time at Deerhurst and will absolutely go back. We enjoyed the show, the meals, the amenities and location. It suited the needs of my golfer husband, my curious 11-year old and me, who was just looking to relax. The only thing that I would recommend is that often our calls to different extensions on site went unanswered. That was frustrating. Would say that Steamers restaurant was a must.

Review 87:Reception staff at eclipse restaurant was on attentive, room was poorly cleaned prior to arrival (Old coffee still in the pot, urine on the toilet seat)

Review 88:Amazing scenery, lots of activities, family-friendly, Front desk staff

Review 89:Facilities ( tennis court, basketball , outdoor swimming pool ) are outdated, really need renovation .

Review 90:Really nice condo unit. Preferred the small kitchen but fully equipped.

Review 91:Loud and unruly children that were not told to settle down when front desk was advised of the issue.

Review 92:The staff was excellent, all did a fantastic job of satisfying your needs to the best of their ability, one such person went way beyond that and must be commended. Thanks Isabelle for going that extra mile!

Review 93:We loved everything!...the buffet breakfast at the Eclipse Dining Room, the new Splash Zone, indoor and outdoor pools and the updated/newly renovated Summit Lodges. We are so looking forward to doing this again in the near future.

Review 94:Lack of experienced staff and consistency in responses to inquiries was annoying. On arrival at 51-207, I called and requested a room on the opposite side of the Summit for a better view, not the parking lot. I was advised that none of the Summit rooms looked out towards the bay, lake etc. First time to Deerhurst, I accepted that response to be surprised at how inaccurate this was. Shuttle service - five different responses to our request for service, sometimes, yes, sometimes no, sometimes we got a ride, others we didn't. Inquired about shuttle to rest. which they assured us was available, but when we went to the lobby was told there wasn't a shuttle. Went outside and the 'shuttle' was there and offered a ride after my husband went to fetch the car. Called to confirm reservation for the boat tour on Sunday. They were to call back and confirm, awaited confirmation, didn't come so then went in person and we proceeded with the tour - confirmation came via email 13 minutes before boat was to leave, we were already on the boat! Room key did not work to the work out room, obtained 2nd key from desk, it didn't work. Reset key and then it did work. Sign at pool to shower first, but couldn't find a shower, then was told there wasn't one. All very minor in nature, but together it just seemed one thing after another was 'irritating'. To say the least, we were underwhelmed with the experience, particularly because of the ++++ name.

Review 95:setting is beautiful

Review 96:No outdoor evening activities at waterfront - ie campfire, beach party etc

Review 97:Splash zone, boating Room was beautiful and very comfortable Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 98:Our room with a view

Review 99:Facilities require up grading. Surprise fee added to quoted rate on departure

Review 100:A long walk to lake it's perfect for golfers would prefer beach

Review 101:It's close to Huntsville good restaurants

Review 102:The fact that your premiere restaurant was closed for the season with no notice of that on the website was a major disappointment.

Review 103:Location

Review 104:The stuff I met is not really nice to us, I did not even now what is available after my check in

Review 105:Locations are really good and the room is clean

Review 106:None.

Review 107:Swimming pool was great to relax at the end of the day.

Review 108:Eclipse restaurant was over priced as food was ok, but they need more selection

Review 109:The natural setting great hiking just outside our room too!

Review 110:We liked everything during our stay. Large spacious room, very comfortable bedding and furnishings, peacefully quiet. Lovely decor. Friendly staff.

Review 111:hot tub is too small and only one hot tub serve for whole property. No sauna

Review 129:Rooms were ok, could hear everything in the suite next to us

Review 130:Very pretty location
