Reviews for Hotel Allegro Bern

Review 1:In the bathroom, lights are not independent (you have to switch them all off and on at the same time) and air extraction didn't worked.

Review 2:Wonderful view on Bern's old town. Spacious room with plenty of light. Liked the tiny balcony perfect for smokers! Excellent buffet breakfast.

Review 3:Restaurants opened only until 14.00 and then at the afternoon, electronic cigarette was not allowed in the restaurant, prices too high

Review 4:The city view from the balcony of our room

Review 5:Upon arrival, 2 restaurants out of 3 were closed. Not knowing this we asked for a reservation at the gourmet restaurant at the reception but we were not told that that restaurant was closed that evening. So we arrived in front of closed doors.

Review 6:Very agreeable location- not right in town- but within easy access, which is what we were looking for. Beautiful view and quiet room which was lovely (junior suite) to which we got upgraded from a superior room reservation as we had arrived early.

Review 7:Friendly, helpful staff; choice of restaurants; walking distance to attractions; easy car parking; nice view from room. Gluten Free options. Nice breakfast offerings.

Review 8:Dysfunctional... Window which has a wall 2m away, disastrous in-room lightning concept, everybody needa to slide theor room card at least three times before they can use the elevator, andsoandsoforth - poor ?

Review 9:too anonymous, nobody proposes to help me to fetch things in my car to take the cab afterwards one towel only restaurant is sort of ok, also anonymous and cold room is noisy price is expensive and my card was debited 6 months before my stay....

Review 10:comfort of the room and bathroom desk location

Review 11:-bad WiFi connection in the room, the signal desapier for a while and is back again... every time. Hotels of this category must have prefect WiFi :(( - the receptionist tell me about the use of sauna, but when I go to wellness the Sauna was cold.. :((

Review 12:good Breakfast

Review 13:nothing

Review 14:Bern is an amazing City, the hotel is well placed for a short walk across the bridge to the centre or the tram outside the hotel takes you every 5 mins or so. The view from our panorama room was stunning.

Review 15:A really nice hotel, modern and great design. Location its great. Just cross the bridge and you are in the city center, or take the tram just in front of the hotel (they give you free tickets for the tram). The breakfast is excellent. The hotel has three great restaurants. I went with my parents and my wife. We took an economy room for us and a comfort room for my parents. If i hadn't seen my parents' room my review woud have been probabbly different. My advise is to take the comfort room.

Review 16:Fri and Sat night the revellers outside were extremely noisy. It isn't in the heart of the old town so I had hoped it would be quiet. It isn't.

Review 17:Staff are excellent. Excellent restaurants too.

Review 18:Staff incredibly welcoming and friendly. Explained tram system, which turned out to be a huge plus - so easy to get around town with tram stop right our front door. Comfortable large room with balcony & bathtub. Great breakfast. Highly recommend!

Review 19:We were placed in a room that was an emergency exit route...which meant that in an emergency every guest on that floor could have used our room as an exit route.

Review 20:Location was good, staff was nice enough.

Review 21:Nothing

Review 22:Location close to Berne's old town. Gorgeous views of the old town and the Alps. Rooms are super comfortable and extremely well appointed. Breakfast buffet (included in price) is copious and varied.

Review 23:1.Parking is very expensive (26chf per 24hr).2. There was construction work going on at the hotel, with a large crane right outside my window/balcony. There was loud drilling from 8.30am which vibrated through the room. Disappointed not to be told in advance and even more disappointed to be given a room right on top of the construction at the far end of the hotel. It made it impossible to do any work at the hotel and I had to find a quiet coffee shop to try to do some work (although there was no wifi at the coffee shop so the work I could do was limited). The hotel management should have informed me of the works in advance of my stay and offered a discount if they could not move me to a quieter stay. 3. Colleagues stayed in the cheaper rooms which they hated as there was no proper window, no natural light and the room lights were very dim that they were not able to read. The room was advertised as looking over the atrium but was not.

Review 24:The location of the hotel was very good, just a short walk intothe old town. The room was large, bright and comfortable (other than the construction works taking place).

Review 25:Was nervous since it was a casino that it would be loud. Our room faced city with views of mountains, very quiet and comfortable. Room clean and modern. Easy walk to city center. Staff helpful and pleasant.

Review 26:Room a bit small compared with price.

Review 27:Very nice hotel, location is near to the interesting locations in the city, facilities "even providing a free bicycle", breakfast was wonderful and easy check in and check out.

Review 28:Well, the only thing that bothered me was that the free transport pass was only given to us on our last day. But that really was the only thing, the rest was flawless.

Review 29:Very good!! Best hotel of our swiss trip! Great room, very nice breakfast, polite and helpful staff and pretty well located. And they also give you a free pass for public transport during your stay.

Review 30:The room was sterile, small and dark. It was on an alley so opening windows for fresh air was not an option. Not a good enough room for the price paid. Also the meals offered by the hotel, especially breakfast was ridiculously expensive (65 chf pp) and no less expensive a la carte options were available.

Review 31:The location was great

Review 32:You can hear noises from the adjacent rooms and on the corridor. I think the noise insulation can be improved.

Review 33:The reception staff is totally amazing. She is very personable and shares personal experienes in choosing best museums and places to seen. Very good breakfast. Overall has one of the best services in Switzerland. Price is very reasonable Close to michellin restaurant

Review 34:I did not like the clean service as it's not perfect and we should ask for the bath supplement and towels everyday. The food is really disappointed and the breakfast buffet is really normal and under excepectation. We excepted more.

Review 35:We liked the location of the hotel, the staff in the reception are really helpful and nice. We liked the balcony as well in our room.

Review 36:The day I had to check out, the cleaning lady started knocking at my door since 8:30 for every half an hour and she woke me up every time. When I got to answer her she said sorry and left. Were they going to clean the room before I left and clean it again before the next guess or she was going to clean it and leave it like that to the next guest? When I complained at the front desk they said sorry and didn't care much.

Review 37:The room was too small and the bed wasn't comfortable and the parking was so expensive

Review 38:I liked the designs of the hotel and its location and the wifi

Review 39:We found everything in Switzerland very expensive - so the hotel seemed expensive.

Review 40:Helpfulness of staff. We had an upgraded room for our first stay (we stayed 2 nights, went away for 2 nights and then returned for 4 nights)

Review 41:Business service (copy, printing, etc) was a bit expensive.

Review 42:The location was perfect for me as it was in front of the tram stop. The staff was helpful.

Review 43:Though my bed was comfortable for my sleep,Think the Hotel should upgrage the Pillows :(

Review 44:Very welcoming, friendly & Helpful receptionists. The Staff at the bar are very professional and fun to be around with great Service. The amazing daily breakfast & thursday buffet dinner @ yu. Old Town panorama view was excellent.

Review 45:The shampoo and soap bottles with a dispenser screwed to the wall. Good quality but I prefer the small bottles!

Review 46:Polite and nice staff. Clean and elegant interior. Very nice restaurants in the hotel. The breakfast is really good

Review 47:Sometimes the staff is a bit "cold"

Review 48:One of all-time my favorite hotels (and I travel quite often): - Beautiful hotel and room interior - Rooms are spacious, clean, modern, facilities are very good - Love the fitness studio and the included entrance to Wellness - Several bars/restaurants in the hotel complex - Great location - Great WiFi connection - Good room service

Review 49:The hotel is shared by the event center and casino and is as such very busy. It is difficult to get a reservation or even park, but the hotel staff parked our car for us, which was very nice. The most unfortunate was the bed, though, as it was a thin and sagging mattress and we woke unrested with aching backs for a long day of important presentations. In the end, you just want a good night's sleep. The staff on duty was also not able to do anything about it, except to say "yes, it must be time to change the mattresses again."

Review 50:The location was excellent, the design interesting and the restaurants good. The staff was friendly.

Review 51:Remember, it is a casino, very glitzy, no Old Town charm. Real nice, just realize what your getting. Also, the room rate advertised puts you at the way back with window a few feet from next building. Our check in person strongly suggested we upgrade because he didn't think we'd be happy with the advertised room. We took his advice for 35 francs more.

Review 52:Very Nice place, located just across the river from Old Town Bern. Public Tram takes you right to old town and bahnhof every six minutes.

Review 53:The frosted glass sliding door in the bathroom. Every noise from the bathroom could be heard in the bedroom.

Review 54:There was an excellent high-speed Wi-Fi, the breakfast was delicious and the hotel is situated close to the old town. Trams and buses stop right outside. As a hotel guest in Bern, you get free bus/tram tickets along with your hotel keycard.

Review 55:The room - in particular, the window was looking at an internal corridor. Although there was a gap between our window and the corridor, the feeling was a bit cold. We knew this in advance and we have been in such rooms previously this one was perhaps the one with the most uncomfortable feeling.

Review 56:Breakfast Location Public spaces

Review 57:Very expensive city but worth it for a weekend!!

Review 58:Lovely bright modern hotel, great location on Tram 9 one stop from center of beautiful old town. Hotel provide you with a free travel pass for Tram around Bern. Really good quality buffet breakfast.

Review 59:Everything was fantastic . We didn't eat at the hotel but the Room was great - good size and very modern. Hair dryer actually worked well - a real bonus for a hotel to have a dryer that heats and blows at the same time. Free tram card was Also a real bonus

Review 60:Relaxed atmosphere and interesting style. The hotel is a short walk across the bridge from the old town (or you can take a bus or a tram). Facilities are quite nice.

Review 61:Would be nice to have some English newspapers and maybe some more recommendations of where to visit.

Review 62:The Allegro is a lovely modern hotel within walking distance of the centre of Bern. The rooms are very modern and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 63:Added extras cost too much (parking, breakfast) when the rooms themselves are already charged at a high rate for what they are - you pay for the communal areas.

Review 64:The communal areas look fantastic - lovely design touches. The bedrooms by comparison feel stark and not terribly relaxing - laminated floors seem out of kilter with the more luxurious feel of the shared spaces. Lovely restaurants on site - we went tot he Thai restaurant and had a great (and surprisingly inexpensive for Switzerland) meal. Panorama room was lovely looking over the city & the parking was very easy.

Review 65:the room and window were towards an inside area; floors tiles - make the room appear very cold and unfriendly. the bed seems cheap, feels and looks like an extended sofa bed. the silicon on the glassdoor in the shower was yellow & broken so that the door couldn't be closed. No body lotion available in the room; no bath rob nor slippers available in the room - can be picked up at the reception though

Review 66:the location is superb as well as the restaurant and the idyllic outside space. Easy to reach by car, parking available, within walkable distance to the center of the city and over a bridge that offers amazing views over the Swiss Alps!

Review 67:1. I booked a room with view of the hotel's garden but was given one which overlooked a row of houses on the opposite side. The description of the room type in my view is therefore inaccurate. 2. The flat pillows were uncomfortable but thankfully the hotel had a pillow menu and we were able to ask for some pillows. I wish the pillows aleady present in the room could be of much better quality. 2a. The mattress in the room was also not comfortable - too sringpy and soft; again i wish they would likewise overhual the matteresses (together with the flat pillows). 3. The housekeeping staff was not very professional. On 2 mornings (and this was still quite early around 9plus am), we were awoken by the housekeeping staff knocking loudly on our door checking if they could do housekeeping. On one of the mornings, they even opened the door giving us a shock. We realised later that they did so because we did not hang our "do not disturb" door tags outside the door. However, for a 4 star hotel, i would have expected much better service.

Review 68:The location of the hotel was good, it was centrally located with quick access to the main areas of Bern via short tram rides. Front desk staff was polite.

Review 69:Very friendly and helpful receptionists. The meals at the restaurants in this hotel are to die for. Epspecially the summer grill menu at guardino was ourstanding.Breakfast was excellent too. Stayed at the panorama club fantastic view of the Old Town. Comfortable bed but wish they'd upgrade the pillows

Review 70:We woke up in the morning to go to town and then we returned at the hotel at 14:00 and the room was not clean. We went to sleep and the cleaning lady came at 16:00. I told her that she couldn't clean at that time because we were sleeping. After that she didn't return at a later time. I should inform the reception about it but I didn't. Beside that everything was perfect.

Review 71:Very nice hotel with friendly staff. Nice rooms with comfortable mattresses but the pillows are a bit flat.

Review 72:- spotty air conditioning and room was not very sound proof - could hear some music from the casino below - beds were ok but not great

Review 73:-Friendly staff -good location -free wifi and tram passes provided - room was clean but spotty air conditioning and not very soundproof - did not try the restaurants

Review 74:We booked a Panorama room but the view was mainly of building across the road.

Review 75:Tram stop right outside hotel, only 1 stop from Old Town. Breakfast was excellent and at CHF26 it was not as expensive as some hotels in Switzerland.

Review 76:Flat pillow. And overall sleeping confort below our expectations.

Review 77:Room view. Good location 4min walk to old city center. Excellent staff Good value breakfast A/C in the room

Review 78:Balcony had no chairs & only one easy chair in a double room. Not good enough for a 4 Star! When sitting up in bed we hit our heads on the misplaced adjustable reading lights. Glass door to Bathroom meaning no privacy using the toilet. Turning Bathroom light on at night wakes partner! Automatic request for a Tip when paying by card. I never Tip the Hotel, only the Staff with cash if they have been very helpful & kind. Many "Corporate" Hotels do this, but usually the staff point this option out, but I have never been asked to Tip the Hotel before, only Restaurant or Bar bills. Incorrect bill in the Yu Restaurant, when we pointed out that the wine hadn't been charged for, we were not thanked, impolite. Had to change booking when we discovered that our room would not have an opening window, who thought that option was a good idea? A spare pillow in the room would have been nice, who wants to call Reception at midnight to request one?

Review 79:Make-up mirror, greater magnification would have been nice though. Friendly Staff. Lovely location with nice garden. Balcony room was comfortable, clean & the bed was very comfortable.

Review 80:Parking was quite expensive and the Asian Buffet at $59 per person was disappointing. Many of the dishes were dried out...kept on the warmer too long. Nice selection of desserts however.

Review 81:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was small but very modern and clean. Location was excellent. It was just a short walk to the old city.

Review 82:Watch out for parking deals. I had booked and asked for parking and paid 26,-- CHF as announced. When in the hotel and Googling the place I found for this weekend a deal with the parking for free.

Review 83:The premises is very correct and clean and offers a very good breakfast. Depending where you have to go it can very well be recommended.

Review 84:Several standard rooms, including our room, have NO view, but good air circulation. (we used the room for watching fotball world cup final and sleeping)

Review 85:Fascinating luxury hotel, well located in Bern. Excellent breakfast and room, but no view. Free parking for us and free local transport in Bern. Excellent wifi.

Review 86:Modern hotel with most amenities -- very comfortable stay

Review 87:Breakfast do not have a lot of choices
