Reviews for Alte Thorschenke

Review 1:It appeared that there was a wi-fi hotspot, but no information was shared regarding passwords, etc. Staff members were not always at the desk, so we decided to use wi-fi at the local IO Coffee Shop. The hotel was not well lit..this might be a problem for older travelers or those with poor sight when trying to climb the stairs.

Review 2:We are always looking for unique, and charming accommodations when we travel. The Alte Thorschenke was the perfect base for our trip to Cochem. The half-timbered construction adjacent to the city gate, and antique furniture in the rooms was the perfect setting for exploring the town. You can easily walk to the Senfmuehle Mustard Mill, Reichsburg Castle and many other locations from this hotel. We are vegetarian and we didn't try the restaurant based on the menu. The breakfast was standard for what you find in an included breakfast: muesli, yogurt, eggs, toast and breads and a variety of meats and fish. If you are a light sleeper, the beds are creaky and there are kids that gather on the steps before school. We found both to be charming and part of the experience.

Review 3:Everything was perfect. Excellent staff both at the hotel and in the restaurant. Hygiene fantastic, every day the room was cleaned and stocked (toilet paper, shower gel, towels etc). Bedroom and spotless bathroom. Fresh and full breakfast, good wifi signal (ask a code at reception, a code per user lasting 5 hours). Very good location, parking near the hotel. We also greatly appreciate the helpful staff to answer our questions very quick via email. We will definitely return. We loved it.

Review 4:The beds in one room were so old, that we all could feel the springs in the matrices. The other room had nice foam matrices, very comfortable.

Review 5:The historical building was wonderful, location was great, staff and breakfast were just as expected.

Review 6:no parking, breakfast should be better for 3 star hotel, bathrooms need new toilet sets(badly yellow stained)also should not be at a3 star hotel

Review 19:great historic hotel, lots of history in the area with a beautiful castle on the hill. The Mosel river area are nicely priced for a popular tourist area.

Review 20:Parking lot, although well-priced, was located several blocks from hotel Noisy rooms fronted onto pedestrian street with late drinking crowds and early morning schoolchildren Furnishings in rooms outdated & tired Ill-lit corridors

Review 21:Centrally located in historic part of town Historic building Common areas historically appointed Excellent breakfast with many choices

Review 22:Unfortuantely the restaurant was closed due to concerns about flooding and we were keen to eat there as the menu was the best in town.

Review 23:The exterior and interior decor. The very helpful and knowledgeable staff who took excellent care of my mother despite having to deal with a major flood warning.

Review 24:A very friendly and comfortable hotel.. Good breakfast. Parking was a bit awkward but that's the problem of the village not the hotel... All in all we had a very satisfactory stay.

Review 25:The manager was very helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is excellent. The breakfasts were varied and good. Our room had a very old canopy bed and furnishings. The hotel is very old with a quiet romantic character.

Review 26:The bedroom was rather gloomy but you can expect that in old hotels. The bathroom (but especially the shower stall) was very small.
