Reviews for Slumber Lodge

Review 1:gone all day - garbage not taken away - cups not washed - teabags still in tea/coffee cup - isn't this part of the maids job description?

Review 2:lovely view of the lake

Review 3:Location was convenient for the Jazz Festival, & at least 2 of the Bands stayed with you. Beds were very comfortable & unit was clean. We expect to stay with you for next year's Jazz Festival. Just send us a reminder.

Review 4:The room was horrible. Where do I start? It stunk so bad. The carpets have never been cleaned, let alone changed. Holes in the walls, bugs squished on the sink and not cleaned. Beds were the most uncomfortable things i have ever laid on. Would rather have laid on the floor but something may have eaten me. TV was small and a mile away from us. Staff were decent and location was good but you couldnt pay me to stay there again. Clean the room properly, change the carpets, patch and paint the walls and hire staff who want to keep it clean and desirable. Worst place i have ever stayed in my 40 year old life.

Review 5:Only good thing was the location.

Review 6:The artificial lighting was poor.

Review 7:The room was well-appointed enough that we could stay in comfortably in bad weather. Good to have a small refrigerator

Review 8:Doors have automatic locks. Forgot key when smoking outside and was locked out for the whole night and there was no support. I slept on the beach.

Review 9:House keeping was there everyday to help if needed.

Review 10:Window areas could have been cleaner, never wiped down

Review 11:Great staff, close to beach, nice BBQ area. Everything you need in the kitchen. Great WIFI access.

Review 12:The room was not very clean. The carpets quite honestly were very disgusting - stained and dirty. This was our first observation when we walked in room. Should be replaced at this point. There was no instruction re;room cleaning. Our room was not cleaned upon returning one day and when inquired of the cleaners re: this, they communicated a door sign needing to be hung on door but we did not have one and could not find any instruction of this in the room info. The ladies did however clean the room when we asked thereafter.

Review 13:Location and staff. Great location right across from beach and walking distance to restaurants etc. Room was sufficient for our stay as very little time spent in room. Room had all that we needed. Staff were very friendly and accommodating when came to requests - extra pillows, towels, information and suggestions re: local activities and services etc. Daughter enjoyed the pool.

Review 14:They don't vacuum floors when doing daily service, bed was a bit soft we both had sore backs after 4 nights. narrow parking stalls

Review 15:Staff were friendly rooms were quiet nice view of the Okanagan lake from balcony. several BBQs around the property to use, across from the beach close to casino and parks 5 -10 min walk to several pubs and restaurants.

Review 16:Staff was not hospitable, and management was confrontational. The rooms were uncomfortable and small. The didn't even tuck in the sheets when the cleaned the room half heartedly.

Review 17:The pool was nice, but dirty. The router dedicated to our room ment good wi-fi.

Review 18:The motel is showing its age - wear and tear. Chipped paint, questionable carpetting, boxspring on one bed ripped along the side. We realize that this is the height of tourist season in a great location to enjoy Penticton's charms, but thought the price was too high for the quality of the unit.

Review 19:The location of this property is excellent - right across the street from the beach, and at the quiet end of the "beach stroll" away from potentially noisy outdoor restaurants. The staff were courteous and helpful. Our unit was very clean and kitchenette equipped with everything we needed for a short stay. Would probably stay again in the off season to see if prices are more reasonable for quality of accommodation

Review 20:The carpet was not vacuumed, crumbs and chips on floor, shower drain was plugged, jam and crumbs on desk. The light switches were gooey, smoke alarm went off in middle of the night, bathroom fan was very noisy, and door sill was loose. The sheets and mattress pad did not fit, towels were soiled looking, and was a very gross experience.

Review 21:Was easy to find. Very close to the beach.

Review 22:It's an older facility, so the walls are thin, there isn't enough parking, so if you aren't in your room by 6:00 p.m., you may need to park in a grotty laneway behind the building. That happened to me the first night, I was a bit nervous about it, but the next night I made sure I was back at the room by 6:00. I managed to get 1 of 2 parking spots left open.

Review 23:I love that it's right across from the lake and within walking distance to Main Street.

Review 24:The web site said that it was newly renovated. There was no way that our room had been renovated, The bathroom needed some major attention.

Review 25:I loved the location, it was right opposite the beach. The air conditioner was great.

Review 26:The air conditioner was broken in my room and it was 37C outside, so we went out and bought a fan to create some circulation in the room.

Review 27:The counter staff was friendly.

Review 28:not enough parking. guests who don't have a private patio will just sit outside on the parking lot and drink

Review 29:First of all the staff is very friendly! The standard rooms/suites are ok. Nothing special. The Deluxe Suites (2bedrooms) are quite nice with a private patio and a private bbq. well, considering it is a motel it is what you expect. Not necessarily cheap though

Review 30:Could hear the people upstairs thumping around. Needs some insulation between upper and ground floor units.

Review 31:The location across from the lake is excellent. There was a decent sized fridge in the unit and it was very clean.

Review 32:Old property running down with little attention to maintenance. Noisy and very cramped. Low rates and location attract the party/drinking crowds.

Review 33:Location was good.

Review 34:We read mainly negative reviews about this place but decided to take a chance. Turns out this place is wonderful! Great location - view of the lake - and you can't beat the price. Room was spotless, king size bed amazing and a LCD TV. This will be number one on our list when we return to Penticton.

Review 35:Bad compressor cut out noise, in the Fridge that kept waking me up each time it completed a cycle. Replaced it for the second night with a quiet unit.

Review 36:Close to the car show and beachfront.

Review 37:I saw couches being changed out so if they renew carpeting and clean drapes, it would go a long way to a fresher place. At current price this would elevate its status among the others.

Review 38:Cant beat location

Review 39:Smoking. No smoking in rooms but people smoking next door and next floor below invaded your senses. Toilet sear broken, one bed side light broken, no ironing board on room, 50's bed coverings, air conditioner didn't work properly. Overall needs a good overhaul. Ifci was not committed to the second night I certainly would not have stayed.

Review 40:Location as is opposite Okanagan Lake.

Review 41:The beds are very hard. The living room is set up a little weird but you're not really in there much. The carpets are a little dirty.

Review 42:Across from the beach and walking distance from Penticton's Saturday Farmers Market, specialty shopping and eating area.

Review 43:It's an old building so it's a bit dated. The pool, which was an indoor one, was not filled. There were ants in our first room but we were quickly moved and upgraded to another room.

Review 44:Close to the water, downtown and the casino.

Review 45:Pillows could use replacing as could the mattresses.

Review 46:Front desk staff went out of their way to assist us with some paperwork we needed to take care of. The room was very clean.

Review 47:mostly the smell in room upon entering each time. The door lock was broken and also a kitchen chair very wobbly.

Review 48:location , view of lake, room layout, ammenities in room and comfortable bed.

Review 49:pool was not available decaf coffee not provided

Review 50:good location with a very nice view free local newspapers staff very helpful with dining advice good security

Review 51:whats there not to like

Review 52:the staff were helpful cleaning staff were lovely and the place was kept cleaned and updated throughout are stay we stayed in october and the pool was open from 9am-9pm which was amazing the beach is literally a stones throw, the views of our room went out to the beach the kitchenette was well stocked and had everything we needed warm room free wifi (with no connection issues-got to skype my family back home)

Review 53:The bathroom was filthy, and covered in black haris. The caretaker was outside my room at 2:30am on Sat night talking to his girlfriend and having a smoke which woke me up. On Sun night there was a huge party in one of the suites with at least 12 people drinking in the parking lot. The party went on from 2 to 5am in the morning. We got no sleep. The caretaker did nothing about this situation. I will never stay at this hotel again.

Review 54:No hot water for our shower in the morning. On the ground floor with a window in the bathroom that didn't lock. TV screen was no working properly.

Review 55:Location is good Fair price

Review 56:It is an older motel and could use some updates. The beds aren't the most comfortable, but it doesn't try to be anything more than what you pay for, so it is what it is.

Review 57:Great location, Lakeshore drive in Penticton is on a motel row, hosting several low value motels with beautiful views. Slumber Lodge is closest to downtown Penticton and within walking distance to cafes, shopping and restaurants. It is only a few minute drive to Naramata wine route, very convenient. The motel room is clean. Staff were very friendly and professional.

Review 58:The rooms not was really clean

Review 59:I like that is just across the beach and is a lot of nice restaurants around and close to down town, the rooms no are the best, but the location for that price is excellence

Review 60:The neighbours were noisy well past midnight. i just turned on the fan mode of the air conditioner to mask the noise.

Review 61:I was staying for a training conference alone but I thought this would be the perfect motel for a family. It is across from the lake, walking to ice cream, lunch, the casino, and downtown would be very easy. Great value for the price. It was clean with a full kitchen--everything a family could need.

Review 62:great location; great value for money! Helpful staff. I wish I had taken the time for a morning swim in the lake across the street... it looked so inviting!

Review 63:they forgot to clean the room . we stayed 2 nights, they said they were very sorry that had not happened before. They did give use fresh towels and coffee .

Review 64:location was excellent.

Review 65:The beds were uncomfortable, carpets were stained. Had to dry our clothes 3 times for them to actually dry.

Review 66:The location was great, only a few steps to the beach

Review 67:That we could not use the pool because it was closed for maintenance.

Review 68:We chose to stay at this hotel because we wanted a suite with kitchen facilities and also to be close to the lake. We loved everything about this hotel and enjoyed going for walks and/or jogging down to the channel parkway and back.During our 3 night stay (Sept 8-10) here it was too windy and choppy to swim in the lake ..

Review 69:I think the property, although well kept, was quite old and the facilities in the rooms could do with a little upgrade.

Review 70:The location was really nice and the viee of the lake and beach was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 71:The Slumber Lodge needs to update the rooms. Do not expect a good sleep the beds are terrible. If you are disabled remember to book on main floor no elevator to take you to the second floor.

Review 72:The location is beautiful.

Review 73:This accommodation was a nightmare!! The owner wasn’t around much and didn’t really care what’s going on around! The rooms were not what I consider clean! This Lodge must be completely refurbished asap!! The availability of accommodation in Tofino is really limited – that’s the only reason why this one still exists! The price is absolutely not justifiable!! I’ve been in many far better motels for less than half the price…

Review 74:No shampoo in the bathroom. Something made me sneeze in bedroom. Some aspects of furnishing tired

Review 75:Location, location, location! Friendly staff Lots of clean towels

Review 76:The suite had spiders in it. I had to kill one large spider crawling around on the floor. I realize it was summer but they have vacuums. The carpets need to be replaced very dirty

Review 77:Looked like the staff was cleaning suites continuously. The front desk personnel very friendly.

Review 78:Great location across the Okanagan Lake and walking distance to beach parks, farmer's market and downtown. Parking available on site. We could enjoy our stay part with thanks for the Manager who stifled over night party-goer clients.

Review 79:The run down style, the front desk staff wasn't as friendly as they could be. I believe the less star rated hotels should make up for it in customer service.

Review 80:I liked the price, the beachfront scenery, and the smoking permitted on patio.

Review 81:blankets seemed dirty on bed, bed spreads were dirty plug in bathtub was difficult to use. rented 2 rooms, but couldnt get the 2 rooms close to each other.

Review 82:right across from the beach

Review 83:The building is very cheaply built - paper thin walls, where you can hear everything, and I mean everything going on in adjacent rooms. The bathrooms are very minimal in counter space, and very run down. The fold out sofa looked like it should be thrown out

Review 84:The location is central and across the street from the best swimming beach around. It is also around the corner from down-town and the Saturday morning street market. Near to many restaurants and the park.

Review 85:I loved the location of this place, you can get up and walk across the street to the beach, and its close to downtown and shops. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 86:The carpet had several large stains, and appeared to not have been cleaned in quite a long time. The room had a faint smell of urine and it was really dirty (bathroom floors, shelves, counters dirty with dust and spider webs). One one evening someone was running across the roof which was quite disruptive.

Review 87:The location was perfect. Close to the beach and several great restaurants. You can walk to Gyro Park and the Casino. There is also shopping and coffee shops.

Review 88:Nearly everything else. The cleaning staff didn't provide a sponge to wash your dishes with, didn't provide shampoo for showering, and didn't replenish the complimentary coffee/tea/sugar. The Wifi was sporadic at best, disconnecting every few minutes, and always with low reception (1-2 bars). The rooms are grimy with shoe prints on the wall, filth in the corners, etc. Noisy at night, as the walls are not that thick.

Review 89:Being across the street from the smaller North beach was nice.

Review 90:Strong smell upon entering and a lot of noise from fridge, pipes in ceiling and something else we couldn't identify. Ended up sleeping on couch (which was comfy) and unplugged fridge.

Review 91:Ground floor unit with parking right outside. Proximity to beach. Staff gave excellent recommendation for a breakfast spot.

Review 92:Wifi unreliable. Dated. Painting needed. Toiletries limited. Charged even for local calls. Burn holes in bed spread. No Remer from tv than worked.

Review 93:Location right downtown. Across from the beach. Friendly staff.

Review 94:Space was tighter that it seemed in the pictures. Not a clear representation of the actual room. Wi-Fi was spotty at times.

Review 95:Beds were nice and firm. The lodge provide more than enough towels each day which was nice to have. Rooms were clean and tidy.

Review 96:cleanliness (spider webs in the room, bathroom and more...) had to request coffee everyday, although requiring a parking slip to be displayed in windshield... anyone could park and use spaces by the rooms. was told to park out back as there were no more spaces available... non guest should be parking in the back... had a senior couple with us that couldn't walk far.

Review 97:location, location, location..... comfortable room.

Review 98:Cold showers Poor wi Fi Not enough parking on the lot Bathroom window wouldn't lock No bathroom fan & when looking to open window to ventilate after showers it was full of spiders & bugs (alive) ...Therefore room often felt humid & muggy ****cold showers**** Not enough parking on lot

Review 99:Location, location, location Friendly staff

Review 100:The first room's bathroom door didn't fit the frame so unable to close. Hair on floor and in clothing drawers, couldn't use them. Kitchen drawers had crumbs, but after I complained they moved us. Room was identical but without the odd door and dirtiness but still the same as the other, humdrum. I don't understand why we have to pay extra for dogs when the hotel is old and not fancy but again I am grateful that you accept dogs.

Review 101:The location was fantastic! They were able to move me to another room. They accepted dogs, so I appreciate that. Liked the grass area for dogs. For the location I would recommend it to travellers that have dogs if other hotels, along the strip, don't accept them. The strip is the place to be not at the other hotels that aren't on the water, in my opinion.

Review 102:The garbage and clutter on the property.

Review 103:The location. Close to the beach and restaurants. Safe area to go for walks day and evening. Great family resort

Review 104:I didn't like that I reserved a queen-bed room on line @ bookings.com and when I got there (very tired) we were given two double beds. It was Peach Festival and all booked up so we kept the room. And they ran out of shampoo for the rooms and did nothing about it. So we went and bought out own at the drugstore (something an alert manager could have done). I complained on check out and nothing was done, no voucher or discount or anything. I did get a brief apology though. It just seems kind of apathetic like maybe they are all waiting for the building to be torn down for something better to be built. Our only reason to stay there is location. And they've got you by the bank-book on that as it isn't cheap at all for what you get.

Review 105:I like the location near the beach and near Main Street

Review 106:The beds were hard. The doors needed their hinges oiled. There was no hot water for morning showers. We didn't have a microwave in our until, only a mini fridge which froze everything. We stayed in a room with 2 double beds adequate for 4 adults but when booking was indicated strictly no more than 3 which was confusing.

Review 107:The location is perfect with a portion of small beach directly across the busy street. Two blocks behind the motel there is a large movie theatre and local shops and restaurants.

Review 108:Parking was a joke, walls allow noise from other rooms, bad coffee, no security late at night, bathroom sink was majorly chipped, toilet seat was a joke, etc, etc, etc.

Review 109:Clean, separate bedroom

Review 110:bugs on my counter. spiders in my washroom. washroom was not clean on arrival. Parking was an issue. was very noisy above us.. probably wont return here next year.

Review 111:Jacqeline was very nice and helpfull. Karen our cleaner was very nice

Review 112:The beds were not what we would call comfortable and the ones in our unit should be replaced at the end of this tourist season.

Review 113:Friendly staff and very quiet despite the Peach Festival activities across the street. Although an older motel it has been well maintained and was very clean. The location is excellent for enjoying the beach and swimming at Okanagan Lake.

Review 114:- not clean ( Imagine they change bed sheets every third day) - doesn't worth a penny - very poor WiFi without any solve for this problem for 5 days (you need to disconnect and reconnect every one to two minutes) - too expensive

Review 115:nothing at all

Review 116:The bedding was very old and threadbare...the blanket was full of holes and extremely scratchy....the mattress was devoid of anything remotely cushioning and it made a horrible sound everytime i moved...might as well have been lying on styrofoam....for cooking there was a large pot with a lid that did not fit and 2 very tiny and therfore useless tiny pots....drive home was dangerous due to lack of sleep..will stay at whistler ina lux hotel next time for the same price....!!!!????##@#

Review 117:It was right across from the beach.

Review 118:No air conditioning in a bedroom, no screens/nets in windows. Swimming pool has no open windows neither air conditioning; therefore it is very hot inside. Room should have a new carpet.

Review 119:Location Clean bathroom and kitchen Wi-Fi service

Review 120:I had requested a wheel chair accessible room. Well no problem getting the chair into the room, but no safety bars in the bathroom to use for dressing, (there were bars in the tub) and I couldn't shut the door behind my chair

Review 121:Quieter end of Penticton. The Skaha end was like Fort Lauderdale at spring break. We're a little older than that crowd so really enjoyed the laid back quiet. Fabulous restaurant a few blocks away where we enjoyed an authentic Greek meal.

Review 122:The bathroom towels were paper thin. The living room area furniture was inadequate for four people to sit comfortably.

Review 123:The location just across the street from the beach and a short walk from a variety of restaurants.

Review 124:It was old, paint peeling off the ceiling and walls, room was small. You are paying for the location, it was expensive for the most part.

Review 125:The location was the best thing about this place.

Review 126:The motel looks run down and old, needs some upgrading. Stains on the ceiling, smelled old, carpet needs to go didn't want to put anything on the floor. There were four of us sharing, asked for an extra pillow but was told they didn't have any spares. Window in bathroom didn't open properly. Beds were okay a bit small though.

Review 127:The location was great, right across from the beach. Great for walking around, didn't need to drive.

Review 128:Was surprised nobody had picked up that the air conditioner had been violated by some low life, mell of urine coming from unit..was thankful for air freshener supplied by staff and was too tired to relocate..

Review 129:Close proximity to lake.

Review 130:Did not respond to our request for a specific room #. As a result we ended up with a smaller room than expected that did not suit our needs.

Review 131:Location is good.

Review 132:Wireless access was a bit hit and miss

Review 133:Location and price can't be beat! Where else can you stroll across the street and be right at the beach? The rooms were comfortable and air conditioning was great. Staff were very friendly. Im staying here every time I hit Penticton.

Review 134:The check out was very slow, one guest was booking for next year with no staff to assist those who were checking out. Finally I had to give up and simply left keys in the room.

Review 135:Location is excellent and accomodation is more than acceptable.

Review 136:ugly room and decor. Felt old. Window s opened to parking lot or dirty back alley. No parking close by my room. Car alarms kept going off. Woke up by front desk as they said my key had been turned in. Housecleaning opened my door even though my checkout time was 11:00.

Review 137:Close to beach and public market. Reasonable price.

Review 138:The internet was so poor that it was frustrating, It reminded of the day when I used dial up and even then it was better. The excuses given were so poor because I have stayed in larger facilities with more rooms, like Vancouver, Edmonton, Las Vegas with nothing even close to this problem. The parking stalls didn't have too much room so it was easier when we parked in the back of the facility.

Review 139:The staff were very good, the cleaning staff were good at their job but it wasn't until later in the afternoon when our room got serviced.

Review 140:-TV was not functional -could not get night manager -no extra bedding -shampoo no sufficient to do one head of hair

Review 141:-clean -beds were comfortable -wonderful view of the lake

Review 142:Wi-Fi was awful, dropped connection every few minutes and very slow when connected. Staff was rather disorganized, no record of my reservation on arrival, took 15 minutes and an intervention by the manager to sort it out (she did upgrade the room, so that was nice)

Review 143:Great location across the street from "The Peach", close to the beach but quieter than the main motel strip. Good value. Fairly large, reasonably clean rooms.
