Reviews for Almo Court Motel
Review 1:Noise from the highway, but I put in my ear plugs so not a problem.
Review 2:The room was clean and comfortable. I like rooms without carpet and this one had that. For one night it was good. Once the heat came on the room was really comfy.
Review 3:My one complaint was that there was some kind of loud motor running the whole night. I was on the end room, and it seemed to be right next to my room.
Review 4:Super clean! I liked the hardwood floor instead of carpet! Bed was comfortable. A well stocked kitchenette.
Review 5:The room was spotlessly clean. The kitchenette had everything I needed. When temperature dropped to -20C outside, the room remained warm and comfortable. So close to the highway and yet quiet at night.
Review 6:Nothing.
Review 7:Manager/owner Barb is very accommodating and flexible. She made sure everything was just so, even turning on the heat to my pre-booked room in anticipation of my arrival. Some rooms have had her designer touch and her husband's expertise on remodelling with the intention to redo the entire room inventory. Some rooms have kitchenette facilities, others are more like a hotel. It's a warm and comfortable place to spend a night or a week.
Review 8:The location was very easy to find with it being just off the main highway, & the room was very clean. Staff was friendly & helpful. We will be staying there on our next trip to the States!
Review 9:Do not have any complaints for what we experienced.
Review 10:We only stayed one night. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Any interaction with staff was pleasant. We will stay there again.
Review 11:Room was cute , clean and cozy. My husband is 6"3 so the bed wasnt the most comfortable for him. But we loved everything else and would stay again. Great value.
Review 12:The hotel was super easy to find, and the beds were definitely above average for comfort. The family room we rented had a full kitchenette, fully stocked with appliances and dishes. Nice and cozy!
Review 13:It was mostly good but I would have liked some drinking glasses even just plastic would have been fine. Also we did wonder why, when there were only a few guests, we were all put right next to each other.
Review 14:It was very clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced.
Review 15:One of the greatest motel rooms I've ever stayed at, and I've stayed at a lot of them. Small, but new, clean and comfortable. Parquet floor, stainless steel kitchen sink, large flat screen TV, I was amazed at the quality of the room compared to its price.
Review 16:Could be noisy at times due entirely to location. Renovation was taking place when we stayed, which was completely navigable but there were some lingering smells from the adhesive used that afternoon. No reason to not stay here - just our experience on that particular day!
Review 17:Very friendly, caring owners who value providing a clean, updated, comfortable hotel and experience for travelers. Top notch people and place.
Review 18:Beware: there is some road and train noise.
Review 19:This is a clean, basic budget-friendly motel. It had a kitchenette (fridge, two-burner cook top, cooking implements), which was great for breakfast. Could use it for uncomplicated dinners, too. The water pressure was good and there was lots of hot water. Our host was quick to assure herself that we had everything we needed. We needed an overnight, and this worked well.
Review 20:Some traffic noise. No breakfast but better room rate because of that.
Review 21:Rooms recently completely refurbished incl new furniture - very well done. Friendly competent staff.
Review 22:Need a car - too far to walk to town. Biggest issue: TOO NOISY! They were doing renos and woke me up REALLY EARLY....and it was my one day to sleep in!! If I had known in advance, I would not have stayed. I would stay there again...f the renos are finished.
Review 23:Super clean. New decor and really lovely.
Review 24:i messed up the TV and the lady at the front desk brought up the real TV remote to fix the problem. room was very clean and recently renovated very nicely. very good value for the money.
Review 25:Room too small for queen bed. Consequently very little gap between bed and the wall on one side. No breakfast.
Review 26:Close to railway museum. Good value for money.
Review 27:At the time we were staying there they were replacing the shingles on the roof, which is great for the hotel but was very noisy for us.
Review 28:The kitchenette was new and very functional the supplied cookware was also in good condition,
Review 29:If you want to get away from the regular big box chain hotels to get a real taste for Cranbrook you won't be disappointed at Almo Court. I've stayed there 3 times while in Cranbrook house-hunting and Barb the owner who has lots of experience with Real Estate was an excellent resource on the local market. If you want honest, reliable, clean service, this is the place to stay! As a woman travelling alone, I felt safe and comfortable and would recommend Almo Court to anyone. What I loved most, were the mountain views from my own private balcony!!!
Review 30:Perhaps Wifi could be better.
Review 31:Helpful,friendly,caring, generous hosts. Exceptionally clean. Well equipped kitchen. Extremely comfortable quality bedding. Quaint visual appeal along with new work/improvements being carried out.
Review 32:The room was fine for the one night that I stayed. the bed was very comfy, the pillows were some of the best I've seen. Fairly quiet, just a bit of road noise, but all good.
Review 33:Extremely clean. Think it had just been redone. We were upgraded apparently as the room we booked was unavailable. That happens often when we use this site. Sometimes it is not as successful
Review 34:Only one mirror in the bathroom to serve four people. Need another outside of the bathroom as well. The bed sheets were too thin! No free breakfast, The roof leaked all over the counter and our boxes of food were soaked.
Review 35:I am one in a few so this only applies to smokers a heads up you will have to go down to the parking lot to smoke. Being a smaller place it travels into rooms from balconies, which I completely agree. It may also be a little noisy for.some being on a highway it quieted down lots after 6
Review 36:Super clean, super friendly and not a lot of people coming and going. Easy to find. Super comfy beds with crisp whites.
Review 37:Climbing a flight of stairs in the open to get to the room. The room wasvery clean, but the carpet looked old and worn out with stains and loosein some areas. We had reserved a room with a queen size bed, but due tooverbooking; got a double bed for a lousy $5.00 discount...but motels inCranbrook, ab, Canada were sold out for the night, so we had no choice.
Review 38:The price and the staff. Booking.com made overbooked us; when we gotthere the room we reserved was gone. The staff found us another room.
Review 39:A jim-crack air-con system and 2 flights of stairs to our unit.
Review 40:Well equipped kitchenette. Handy location but noisey with one window having no double glazing.
Review 41:There were no bad experiences. The highway was very busy and noisy when I checked in, but the owner assured me it would be much quieter at night, and she was right! Like a lot of motel/hotel wifi setups, the band width could have been bigger for work, but was otherwise okay for personal use.
Review 42:I stay at a lot of motels or hotels in BC and I really liked this place! Cranbrook is not that big so location doesn't really matter. It's an older motel that has been upgraded, with all new furnishings, facilities (small fridge, TV), beds, and bedding. It was very clean and fresh, and it has a good air conditioning system that kept my room nice and cool the whole week I was there, without any stuffy, closed in feelings. I didn't sit out on the balcony much, but thought I should have when I did.
Review 43:Website said check-in till 11 - we double checked that afternoon. When we walked in at 10:15 she gave us a lecture for being the last ones to check in and told us she had been waiting for us so she could go to bed. We drove 9 hours that day, didn't need the lecture.
Review 44:Newly renovated rooms, comfy bed, good location.
Review 45:Being close to the main highway means some traffic noise. This was fixed by running the A/C, which we needed anyway!
Review 46:The room was completely remodeled, don't let the outside of the building fool you. The owner took us to our room, & as she entered removed her shoes, showed us her flowers; such pride.
Review 47:the Manager/ owner of the property is very rude. shouted at us that we should have informed her about our 3 yr old daughter, to which I said that I didn't think it was required of me to inform her because 1 child stays free. She did apologize the next morning, saying she did not know that 1 child stays free. but whatever it is, she should not shout at customers and should atleast look at the rules and regulations before finding faults in others. The worse part is that the blanket had a blood stain. We did not complain about it because we felt was no point of talking to her. And there was no extra pillow.
Review 48:liked the kitchen
Review 49:How the handle automatically locked when you shut the door. With young children they tried to lock me out a few times
Review 50:They were very nice to deal with, no the fanciest place but I would stay there again for sure. It's nice parking right up by your door!
Review 51:Omg what a little gem of a place! Freshly, carefully and tastefully renovated (even window panes), large and comfy room- we had deluxe suite so the two queens were in separate rooms with one in with a turreted window alcove thingy. Cant believe this is a 2 star. It deserves an upgrade. And what great value with welcoming front lady. Highly recommend
Review 52:This place was excellent. King size bed with a balcony and a view of the mountains, check in was quick and easy, the value for money is unbeatable. The rooms were clean and there was a huge fridge. Oh and there was a super cold ac unit that kept us nice and comfortable.
Review 53:A bit far from downtown
Review 54:The rooms were large, lots of light, very clean; super comfy beds Travelled with my granddaughter, we each had a room and it was very clean
Review 55:Would have preferred a king size bed in the main bedroom and an updated TV.
Review 56:Big circular suite room 43 was spacious with view of neighbourhood and the second/entrance room was large enough for two older grandchildren. The suite was very clean and the room rate was very reasonable.
Review 57:They didn't provide a toaster for breakfast, in fact, she said they were't allowed. I'm a celiac and have to take my own food with me, so I didn't like that.
Review 58:We've stayed here before and it was comfortable. They are upgrading it and it is really nice.
Review 59:The air conditioner was so loud you couldn't hear the TV and talk to the other person in the room without raising your voice. It also made it very hard to sleep.
Review 60:The rate is very reasonable for a room that also has a little kitchenette.
Review 61:I would recommend getting a Swinging Bar door guard or something more secure to lock from the inside, there was only a deadbolt and door handle lock. Also there wasn't any shampoo/conditioner or any other toiletries other then facial soap in the room.
Review 62:It was a good place to stay for the price and a quick business trip, clean and friendly staff.
Review 63:A little noisy being right on the main road, but that is not the motel's fault.
Review 64:Clean, comfortable and good value. The lady at the desk was very nice and the little balcony on our room was nice as well.
Review 65:Showering was unpleasant. The water temperature changed several times from cold to scalding and back again.
Review 66:I stayed in a queen suite. The room was very clean and updated nicely.
Review 67:Older motel, didn't receive the balcony room as booked. Parking is sketchy.
Review 68:Updated rooms, very clean, lots of amenities if long stay. Would definitely stay again for the price.
Review 69:My GPS was not responding properly and I got lost. The hosts were very patient and got me to my destination quickly. After a long drive and unpacking a Uhaul it was a nice end to a long day.
Review 70:The bathroom door was squeaky opening and closing. Should be an easy fix. Take ear plugs as the road noise can get loud towards early morning
Review 71:Super clean, great value for your money. Would definitely stay there again. We stayed an upstairs room with a king bed and balcony. It was great to sit outside and enjoy the mountain view.
Review 72:Not a bad thing for me, but no breakfast for those expecting it. I prefer to go out for breakfast anyway.
Review 73:Clean, friendly staff although somewhat Spartan accommodation. Good value for a short stay!
Review 74:Close to the main highway so a lot of road noise. Very hot weather but we couldn't run the air con because it was too noisy even to watch TV let alone sleep.
Review 75:Kitchen and bathroom facilities OK. Bed comfortable. Cheap.
Review 76:No electric outlet in bathroom. Wifi was sketchy.
Review 77:A hidden gem. Outside is a nondescript old building, but rooms have been updated and renovated, with excellent bed, new flooring, refrigerator, table and chairs, coffee pot. Very comfortable room. Proprietor recommended good restaurant across the street for dinner. Easy to find right off main road.
Review 78:No restaurants within walking distance.
Review 79:Easy access to and from when travelling through. Owner knew we'd want a ground floor room because we were traveling by motorcycle.
Review 80:i was charged twice for only one night stay and the hotel blames booking.com even though i paid at the hotel and it is a logistical nightmare to get the $85.88 back refunded to me!!! apparently this happen as she got me confused with other who needed to be refunded
Review 81:upon our arrival all was very good
Review 82:We loved our room - it was clean and comfortable. The owner was very nice and accommodating. We especially enjoyed the resource book in the room about the area.
Review 83:No breakfast, and the A/C unit in our room had no knobs, so we couldn't control the temp. All or nothing.
Review 84:Nice rooms. Friendly service. Good place to stay.
Review 85:We were heading late from Alberta to this hotel and almost arrived at midnight. The manager still waited for us. Really appreciate. Room is the studio type but equipped with everything - stoves, microwave etc.
Review 86:New Air con unit was a bit noisy. Reported to owner.
Review 87:Owner was really help full and did everything to make us feel wellcome. Fully equipped small kitchen real bonus. Room was very clean and well presented.
Review 88:It is still a 'motel' located close to the railway. The walls are not sound proof but there were no noisy guests. I love trains so rather enjoyed the sound of a train rolling by in the morning. And the motel is directly across from the Railway Museum - so convenient.
Review 89:The folks operating this little motel take pride in their business. They advertised it as 'super clean' and it was very well maintained - from the flowers in the window boxes to the small but well equipped kitchens. It exceed our expectations. I could see there have been recent updates. The free wifi appreciated. Excellent value in a convenient location.
Review 90:Staff was very rude Thank God for hotel down the street or we would havebeen stranded with a 2 year old and no where to stay
Review 91:Nothing a 2.5 score is generous should be more like a 0
Review 92:A little away from the downtown area for walking to a restaurant.
Review 93:Great room in a reasonably quiet area. Very clean and the AC worked well. Owners are friendly and helpful.
Review 94:Always friendly staff. good price. Rooms are clean, quiet and comfy. I stay in a lot of motels and they usually are pretty rough at this pricepoint. I ve been impressed twice by this place. protip: the indian restaurant across the street is really good too.
Review 95:-Awesome little motel = ) I had a wonderful experience! The staff was friendly and helpful. CLEAN! -The price was right! It was the least expensive, but had the highest ratings of all the ones I looked at! -So pleased! = ) I will be back!
Review 96:Bathroom a bit small. Some road noise but all cranbrooke hotels seem to have that problem.
Review 97:Clean and comfortable with nice kitchenette facilities including dishes and cutlery.
Review 98:Being on the lower floor was a little noisy (could hear people walking above us). Next time I stay, I would stay on the top floor.
Review 99:Liked the moderness of the room.
Review 100:well the cable didn't work so after a long day of driving it kinda sucked.
Review 101:Room very clean, staff were friendly, helpful, and a great value for your buck! other then no tv Place was awesome
Review 102:This hotel claimed that we damaged a room, which we assuredly did not. Initially we had found the room to be comfortable, but having such an apparent untruthful claim made this the worst hotel experience we have had over several years!
Review 103:The pillows were not terribly comfortable and a microwave would have been nice. But overall was a nice place to stay.
Review 104:Good value for the $. Staff very helpful. Room was small but very clean. Was nice having a small fridge and stove. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 105:- The pillows were really big and stiff, two of us woke up with neck pain
Review 106:- Clean, newly renovated - Easy to find off of highway and close to gas/food - Really cute design on the outside
Review 107:The cleaning staff HAVE to wear a hair net!!! There were long black hairs EVERYWHERE!!! I stripped the bed and shook all linens outside. Road noise was way more than expected. Shower control was reversed and did not turn off properly.
Review 108:The bed was wonderful, nice pillows, for a small room it was planned out perfectly. Everything looked brand new! Nice to have tea in the room NOT just coffee as well as what was needed for both to be made. Room warmed up quickly too. Room 28.
Review 109:Needed more electric outlets for my hair dryer and curler..bathroom a little.. crowded..but very nice room otherwise
Review 110:The manager was very nice and friendly..
Review 111:The look from outside.
Review 112:The room was not what we were expecting, looking at the outside. The interiors have been renovated to modern standards with a King size bed.
Review 113:Traffic noise was significant and could not be reduced by closing the window because of a defect preventing the window from sealing. Still slept fine with the help of earplugs!
Review 114:Room was nicely renovated and immaculately clean. Owner is friendly and helpful.
Review 115:Plenty of care and attention was taken in renovating the suites in this older building. The rooms are immaculate and well thought out with no detail overlooked. Excellent value and the owner was extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
Review 116:We weren't expecting to get a kitchenette with a $68 hotel room, so that was a great surprise! The room was very small, but had great features for the price!
Review 117:Loving the cleanness, new of everything, great kitchen stuff and wood floor! Everything is great, clean, nice. The owner check me in the she is super nice and waited for my late arrival! I will definitely go back and recommend everyone stay there!!
Review 118:There was a little noise from the road, but we liked the convenience of getting on the road early in the morning.
Review 119:The inside had been updated with laminate floors, nice kitchenette and bathroom. The outside had hanging baskets or window boxes with flowers. The price was very good and the lady very pleasant and helpful.
Review 120:Most comfortable bed we had on our cross Canada trip. They accept dogs which is great, just need to make sure you reconfirm, since they only have a few rooms that dogs are ok in.
Review 121:Nothing really, given the price range for this motel it was exactly as expected. No complaints.
Review 122:Comfortable room with airco and a kitchen area. Friendly staff and the motel is conveniently located near the main road. Not too much noise from the road though. Stayed at the room at ground level, so transportation could be conveniently parked in front of the room.
Review 123:Last minute cancellation fee of one night
Review 124:I have to do a last minute cancellation due to family emergency schedule and have to drive straight home. I wasnt able to cancel earlier due to my ovetlimit data usage. I called the reception when we arrived in Cranbrook. The reception is friendly even though unfortunately i was still charged a one night fee. That's fair it is their hotel policy. This is the reason why i cannot fully take the survey.
Review 125:ALL WAS WELL!
Review 126:VERY CLEAN AND HOMEY, NICELY DECORATED ROOM. THE BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE. WE LIKED IT SO MUCH WE STAYED THERE ON OUR RETURN TRIP 3 DAYS LATER
Review 127:clean, comfortable, nice view from 'round tower' room.
