Reviews for Hotel-Café-Burg Stahleck

Review 1:70's bathroom untouched since then. Carpet looked very grotty. Room wasnt ready so they suggested having coffee then charged us for itBelow par

Review 2:Nice breakfast and good location if you can put up with substandard room.

Review 3:35 degrees and no aircon or fridge. I guess this is something we have in all hotels in Australia but is not a European thing.

Review 4:Fantastic location with friendly staff. Not all spoke English but I accept I'm in Germany! Breakfast was a buffet style and very good.

Review 5:Climbing up & down 2 flights of stairs. Dragging bag down cobbled streets to get there!

Review 6:Owners friendly & helpful - he carried my bag up. Own tiny bathroom. Roomy bedroom

Review 7:As with many European hotels, there was no A/C. We were there during summer and the upstairs room was quite warm until well into the night. We opened the windows facing a next door building and were serenaded for quite a while by a crying baby.

Review 8:Location is outstanding--an exceptionally well run small boutique hotel. The manager & staff of the hotel are delightful and most willing to accommodate your requests. Excellent dinner restaurant which also serves a complimentary full breakfast. Highly recommend.

Review 9:Unfortunately, there was no fan, and with the windows open, it was incredibly noisy from the street--not to mention the loud church bells from the (albeit gorgeous) cathedral across the street!

Review 10:The location was perfect and the staff was friendly. Our triple room on the third floor had incredible views!

Review 11:We went back to collect a charger we had left behind, and the previously pleasant staff were very aggressive, saying "why would it still be here - you left it one week ago". We then checked the room and it wasn't there. It seemed as though they knew we wouldn't be able to find it before looking.

Review 12:Good location, rooms were basic but sufficient for our needs.

Review 13:I ate dinner at the restaurant in the hotel .I thought it was open until 2100 hours. I arrived at 1915 and there was just one couple finishing their meal at that point. I asked if they were still open. The server said yes, but in an unpleasant manner. Her service was rushed and rude the whole time. I didn't feel welcome at all. The food, however, was absolutely delicious.

Review 14:Because of the name, I actually thought I was booking a room at the Schloss Stahleck itself. When I arrived to discover my error, I was surprised and unhappy but the woman in charge of the hotel was most gracious about smoothing out the confusion on my part. Since I'd paid in advance, I stayed and was glad I did. My room was quite large and cheerful; I had a nice view of the church on the hill from my window. The ensuite bath was large and sparklingly clean. The location was right in the middle of town, so I could easily walk everywhere. The town is very small, however, so it's hard to imagine a bad location. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful.

Review 15:hotel staff don't speak english, however they still try everything to understand and fulfill your wishes

Review 16:affordable prices helpful staff doing "extra mile" full flexibility in every aspect location

Review 17:Great value, cozy place, and the best night sleep of my trip. Its about 2 blocks walk from the train station. They have their own restaurant. And there was a view of the destroyed cathedral from my window. Bathroom was large and spacious. Free bottle of water.

Review 18:The room was small. The bed was low to the ground which might be difficult for some people. There are no elevators so you have to carry luggage up the stairs which could be considerable depending on which floor you end up. The bathroom is extremely small but clean.

Review 19:Great location. Near everything in town. The room was very clean.

Review 20:Bathtub was small and the sides of the tub were very high - which made it a challenge to get out of the shower without slipping. Wifi tended to be slow occasionally. Kitchen noise at night if windows were open.

Review 21:Great location in the center of town. 5 minute walk to the Rhine, 10 minutes to the train station (cobblestones...). Room was simply decorated but functional.

Review 22:Very poor lighting and towels were ready for retirement.

Review 23:Location is excellent!! Needs updating and better lighting in the guest rooms...barhroom clean and modern

Review 24:The latest location was wonderful and the town was magical. Would definitely come back again and recommend it to others. Dinner was delicious and filling and breakfasts were fresh with great coffee.

Review 25:No fire extinguishers, drill, alarms or fire escape. Poorly constructed rooms. Arrived just after lunch were given key, told to use back door and didn't see anybody again until next day.

Review 26:Location

Review 27:We had a room that had a creek running under the window. The sound was very soothing. The breakfast buffet was very nice and the hit chocolate was superb.

Review 28:The staff was always courtesy and very helpful, the breakfast and dinners was was superb, and the location was ideal - easy access to train, waterfront and virtually in the middle of the town.

Review 29:The hotel proprietor met us after we rode our bikes there in the rain. He was very helpful and even helped with a quick fix to one of our bikes. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious.

Review 30:- The parking is a long way away, but it was free. - The breakfast was limited in some ways, but adequate for our needs. They had very good coffee.

Review 31:- Location - Updated Room - Owners/host/staff were very friendly - size of the room/bathroom - wi-fi

Review 32:call if you arrive late, no one at the hotel after 20:00

Review 33:easy to find, central, nice room and bath, good value but possible to find cheaper in the town, also with nicer view. ok breakfast.

Review 34:The room was spacious with an amazing view of a garden and ruin above. Everything was clean and the staff was welcoming. They had a table with coffee and rolls ready for us when we came down for breakfast.

Review 35:Beds were not comfortable and the room was a bit stuffy (seems typical for Europe however). The room was a little of a struggle to get to with heavy luggage. All these issues aside, I would stay in this hotel again.

Review 36:Location was right in the middle of the old section of town within a few minutes walk of a port on the river. The hotel staff was very courteous and accommodating and our room was very clean when we arrived. Breakfast was served each morning at a reserved table. The restaurant in the hotel served good food at a reasonable price.

Review 37:The abilty to travel to and from surrounding communities via taxi was difficult. The availability of a shuttle would be a great addition to the hotels amenities.

Review 38:The views were AMAZING! Cozy village. The s

Review 39:Not a major point, but stairs a bit steep for a person with a dodgy knee and no lift.

Review 40:Great location. Comfortable room. Reasonably spacious

Review 41:Very expensive, for such few facilities. Poor internet connection on my iPad.

Review 42:Central location. Good bike storage. Helpful and welcoming female owner.

Review 43:Surly manager. Charged us more than quoted....beware!

Review 44:A bit noisy at night as the hotel is nearby the public road

Review 45:The breakfast was well served & hotel staff were friendly to help.

Review 46:Friendly staff and good food for reasonable prices.

Review 47:Wifi

Review 48:Steep and narrow stairs. No lift.

Review 49:Everything was perfect. We would gladly stay here again.

Review 50:Dinner ended a bit early, but the owners were accomodating about our late arrival

Review 51:Owners were very attentive and helpful. Also, very well positioned.

Review 52:Friendly, helpful staf.

Review 53:Large room to accomodate 3 adults. Hotel located in the center of town, very good breakfast, parking nearby.

Review 54:Adjustment for shower is broken, so you must hold the shower head in one hand.

Review 55:Excellent location. Small, but adequate room

Review 56:The town, castle and wine bar.

Review 57:No heat!! The shower was tiny and gross with mold all over it.

Review 58:Good wifi, good food, comfy beds, no bugs and not terribly dirty.

Review 59:We loved the old world charm of the town and the location of the hotel right in the center of town.

Review 60:One in particular was in the wrong job. If you don't like people do not work in hospitality

Review 61:Most of the staff were great

Review 62:parking was several blocks from the hotel but ok if you don't need to get to your car a lot.

Review 63:Location is excellent. Staff was very friendly.

Review 64:Convenience to everything

Review 65:Was a very personal place to stay. They made us feel like family.

Review 66:Owner knew we were coming in late and left note in German for us to call him. I was fortunate that I had international phone service to call him. It all worked out okay in the end. Breakfast was very good with a variety of food including hard boiled eggs .

Review 67:The location was great! Room clean and comfortable.

Review 68:No kettle in the room. No elevator but it's common for hotels in Europe.

Review 69:Fufilling breakfast with variety of cheese & ham. Simple but good. It's about 10min walk from the train station. It's a small but beautiful town and the attractions are all within walking distance.

Review 70:Maybe they should update the decor of the rooms, although this was not a problem at all!!!

Review 71:It was an excelent stay! The hotel is very well located, in the heart of Bacharach. It's a simple hotel but has a very friendly staff, delicious breakfast and the room was super confy, with a huge bathroom and a lovely balcony with views to Wernerkapelle.

Review 72:The hotel was closed on the day of our arrival without advance notice. Without a phone, I had to ask a store clerk next door to call the hotel manager to open up. Wifi internet didn't work properly. Rude staff.

Review 73:The hospitality was remarkable. We arrived at 12:00am because of a traffic jam on A5. We got our key and went to bed. In the morning the table was set waiting for us for breakfast!

Review 74:Bed was wedged against wall so hubby had to crawl over me to get out of bed. Had to step up & then down to get into bathroom, so kept bathroom light on to avoid falls at night. Towels were coarse, but clean. Free parking was located about 1/2 mile away.

Review 75:Located across from beautiful old church & our room had great view of the ruins of Werner's Chapel from the tiny balcony. Staff was very friendly & accommodating. Breakfast was good. Bathroom was enormous with bidet, urinal, toilet, large tub & separate shower. Hotel is very small & located above small restaurant. Dinners were good, but a limited menu.

Review 76:friendly and helpful staff as advertised on website

Review 77:Nothing

Review 78:Good place in a nice little town as you travel along the rhine. Best pizza.

Review 79:The service was above and beyond good. The food was great too, and the price was good, and there was lots of it.

Review 80:Friendly Staff Location

Review 81:Everything was great - the staff, the location, the breakfest, the price.

Review 82:Very central and clean. Good value

Review 83:Nothing.

Review 84:Great location for train and Rhein River Boat in neat town along the Rhein River. Very comfortable room and very nice breakfast.

Review 85:Hallway is dark and a bit shabby.

Review 86:Great location, nice size and bright room.
