Reviews for Bacharacher Hof
Review 1:The hospitality of Ellen was incredible. She was helpful and informative and seemed to pay attention to each guest. The breakfast was fantastic and the rooms were clean and modern.
Review 2:Besides the great location, the food was excellent! Also, our waitresses (mom and daughter it turns out) were attentive, friendly and spunky which we loved!
Review 3:The rooms are very old fashioned. The major problem though is the railway line which is SO close to the hotel and trains bomb past all night.
Review 4:Ellen and Dirk (he's the chef too) were charming and helpful and the food was excellent with seasonal dishes featuring portbello mushrooms and German cuisine. We had a bottle of their own Riesling too which was delicious!
Review 5:Booked a room with balcony on back side of hotel, but not available on arrival. The trains are very loud in front rooms. Otherwise good...
Review 6:Centrally located in town.
Review 7:Checkout time of 10am was a little early, but they reminded us and easily gave us until 11.
Review 8:Lovely hotel, right near the center. Breakfast was wonderful. Nice swimming pool and Sauna. Very helpful staff. Triple room was nice and large.
Review 9:The hotel was very clean and well maintained. the Staff went out of their was to assist you with and requests. The food was excellent and the service outstanding.
Review 10:Couldn't have picked a better place to experience Bacharach & other close villages! Our quality room overlooked the Rhine with free parking, swimming pool & sauna, elevator or stair options, fabulous free european breakfast, a restaurant to experience the best of Germany, and the personable and friendly hosts, Ellen & Dirk, topped everything off. Loved their own Classic reisling and bought a bottle when we left!
Review 11:The recepction is closed at 3:00pm. We only were attended after knock windows 3:40pm.There is no private parking, the hotel payed a public park. Lot of stairs, without elevators. We heard sounds of the other rooms.
Review 12:Clean and big room, with varanda.
Review 13:Our room 420 was at the back of the hotel in an annex. The bathroom was a little too small for us but there is nothing they can do of course. Very modern but with a small shower, my shoulders touched both side walls when I turned. I have a 36 inch waist and 42 inch shoulders. Our wifi would not work in our room and was frustrating but worked in the common areas of the hotel. Sadly, I did require it for the evenings but used it during breakfast without a problem. For a short stay not a issue but I would pay for a better room in the main part of the hotel.
Review 14:Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location, easy to find, steps from many restaurants and town centre. Very quiet hotel, we slept very well for three nights. Good value for money. We had a lovely dinner our last night. Free parking.
Review 15:Bacharacher Hof Nice hotel in the old part of town close to everything. The host was very friendly and helpful. Our room was basic but was spacious and with a very nice balcony. Our bathroom was small with a tiny shower cubical. A very nice breakfast was included with a good selection including bacon and eggs. Great location for wine tasting, trips up the Rhine River and nice walks behind the town.
Review 16:My wife and I absolutely loved our 3 night stay at the Bacharacher Hof. Our bedroom and bath were huge and spotless with a wall of windows that opened! Right across the street from the old town wall and guard tower with a view of the Rhine! Breakfast was included and fabulous.
Review 17:Bathroom very small and stairs to second floor for luggage.
Review 18:The location and hosts were very friendly and helpful with getting us to places we wanted to go. Breakfast was included and was a plentiful buffet. Restaurant was also very good for evening meal.
Review 19:Lots of train noise, which we were not used to Carpet was stained Room was dated Had very deep bathtub with shower hose but no curtain or barrier No bath soap
Review 20:Convenient location Hardworking staff Very good restaurant
Review 21:Location was excellent for sightseeing . The restaurant was excellent and we also enjoyed the third floor deck. We arrived at 11:00 AM and owners made extra effort to make our room availed to us.
Review 22:Pool wasn't as clean ad it should be- as property managers we could tell it wasn't operating properly (pump system etc), so it wasn't safe to be in in our opinion. Plus the sauna that they advertised wasn't working at all.
Review 23:Great breakfast, especially for Europe! Great location right at river and short walk from train.
Review 24:Get to breakfast early, late eaters may be disappointed.
Review 25:The location was very close to the Rhine boat lines and central to all the restaurants. We had a nice room with a balcony, overall it was quiet, the train did not disturb as we were not next to the tracks.
Review 26:we were surprised to find the hotel closed (a lady showed us where to knock) and that there were no meals available on Wednesdays, which is the day we arrived
Review 27:The children liked the swimming pool. We we re pleased to have two rooms next to each other, and on the first floor as requested.
Review 28:Bedrooms were not as nice as shown on web site. 3 lights out of order in the room for 2 nights ! No one in the hotel on wednesday : day off (not even a gard). Not enough soap/shampoo in bathroom. Not a lot of choice in buffet breakfast.
Review 29:Nice location, swimming pool, sauna. Nice guy at lobby.
Review 30:We did not like the fact that our room faced the train which was very very loud at night which is quite an issue in the summer when you must have the windows open. Train kept waking me up all through the night.
Review 31:Our son enjoyed the pool at this hotel which is why we chose it. Our hotel room was very clean and the breakfast was great. The location of the hotel is great for catching the boat to cruise up or down the river and see the many Castles on the Rhine.
Review 32:Unfortunately, the entire town of Bacharach is not more then 5 blocks removed from a train track. So the trains can be noisy at night (with the windows open), but this is likely only an issue is summer travel.
Review 33:This is a wonderful traditional German hotel run by a very nice family that has been in the business generations. We had both (the included) breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and enjoyed all of out meals.
Review 34:A wonderfully clean well located and comfy B&B with views to the rhine valley and river. Wonderful breakfast in a cosy sunny breakfast room. Staff are helpful, friendly and very efficient. One of the best places to stay in Bacharach! Small pool, sauna and little terrace a welcome addition for relaxing in the evening.
Review 35:No elevator in the building and lots of steps to drag your luggage up and down. The hotel has an indoor pool, but whatever you do: don't swim in it. Water was full of dirt, sand and hairballs floating around.
Review 36:Good location in cute Bacharach. Our room was nice and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was good.
Review 37:No air conditioning but that's to be expected in older building. Fans compensated.
Review 38:Wonderful family owned hotel. Cordial and friendly hosts. Great food. Made us feel at home. Close to river for cruises.
Review 39:Don't overlook this restaurant! It's not your typical hotelfood; one of our top rated eating places while in Germany wasconveniently located right in my hotel.
Review 40:Arrived on Sunday afternoon. had to ring doorbell to,checkin. Very vague about where we could park. Cracked shower door, mini refrigerator couldn't be plugged in. Furniture frayed and worn. Even though we were early for breakfast, out of some of the food.
Review 41:We had the 4th floor double room for 4. The accommodations were great for us. It was hot and we appreciated the pool after a long day of castle hopping. The room had a beautiful view and the breakfast was outstanding!
Review 42:Check out was rather early. Also, like another reviewer said, there wereno toiletries as such, just a gel wash.
Review 43:Breakfast excellent. Wi-fi good enough to watch the golf on the bbc ontv Catch Up. (Note to anyone in the uk - get the app for tv Catch Upbefore you leave home 'cos everything works). Choose a room with abalcony to have some outside space.
Review 44:The train way is very near by which may make your night a bit noisy if you are not a heavy sleeper. Breakfast ends early at 10:00.
Review 45:Very friendly and kind staff. Delicious breakfast.
Review 46:Owners of the hotel very welcoming to us and our dog. We went for the a la carte menu which was excellent. Hotel centrally situated. No complaints - would go there again.
Review 47:Nothing to dislike
Review 48:A place to visit everything you need to feel you are in paradise. Breakfast was extraordinary and complete with high quality products, warm bread baked in place out of the iven made my day.
Review 49:The only very minor thing was that the double bed was really twoseparate twin mattresses put together, but that is very common inEurope. It didn't detract from the comfort at all.
Review 50:Great value for a wonderful little property. Our rooms were clean andcomfortable, with wi-fi, mini fridge, a seating area, and en suitebathroom. We also had a nice balcony to enjoy a quiet time. A fan in theroom kept the temperature comfortable. Delicious breakfast included.
Review 51:The lady on reception was superb and very helpful when it came to helping us with dietary requirements in the dining room. The meals were great and the location wonderful.
Review 52:It's a bit dated decor wise but well maintained. Typical of this area. The atmosphere is gauged towards the older guests- early dinner.
Review 53:Clean and tidy rooms and efficient and friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Nice to have a pool.
Review 54:It was very hot in both rooms. This was due to extreme temperatures at the time but without air conditioning, it made for an uncomfortable night with little sleep.
Review 55:Rooms were well appointed. Swimming pool is great. Interesting building and town.
Review 56:They can't change this, but they are too near the noisy railway tracks. Although, the location gave easy walkable access to everything in Bacharach.
Review 57:The buffet breakfast was outstanding, in taste, quality and variety.
Review 58:There was constant train noise throughout the night even with the windows shut. It was not the fault of the hotel (it was there before the train came through) but it was difficult to sleep with jet lag.
Review 59:Our hotel was a lovely introduction to Germany. We made the drive to the hotel within 90 minutes of leaving the Frankfurt airport. Our reception was easy. Our host met us at the door and explained some of the local customs to us in excellent English. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very good too - excellent coffee! the Hotel was immediately within the town walls and the free parking was a nice bonus, particularly when we had to leave our car parked on Sunday (the highway is always closed to car traffic on the last Sunday of June). A nice touch was the inclusion of a fan in the room to keep it cool enough to sleep.
Review 60:Superb location, large room with nice view of Rhine and boat activity. Easy walk in central Bacharach. Excellent menu selections with outstanding preparation. Similar for breakfast selections and variety. All staff friendly and most helpful with suggestions and answers to questions.
Review 61:Parking available, wifi, beautiful complimentary breakfast, and pool + sauna, for affordable price. Spacious room. Views of Rhine and the castle from top floor a bonus.
Review 62:The check-in was closed when we arrived. Had to ring a bell several times. The elevator is old and tiny; the rooms were also old and tiny. The whole place was very dated. The balcony was ridiculous and small - don't pay extra for a balcony that overlooks a wall and is no place you'd want to sit.
Review 63:Location and breakfast were good.
Review 64:Lack of toiletries (no shower gel nor shampoo) and toilet very small. Bed pillow extremely thin and therefore uncomfortable
Review 65:Location, clean rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit.
Review 66:The walls are quite thin so you can hear people's movement quite clearly. The balcony has no view. It overlooks into other people's residence. They missed cleaning our room on one day even though we got out of the room by 1130am, but they gave us the necessary amenities we had asked for.
Review 67:breakfast was good. They provide a fan for summer but we didn't need it.
Review 68:Bacharacher Hof is a welcoming family owned Inn with a personal touch offering friendly service, fabulous breakfasts, and warm hospitality. Information for 1st time visitors is gladly given and guests are immediately made to feel at home.
Review 69:As well as being a really nice hotel, the restaurant was excellent, we had one of the best meals of our holiday! Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.
Review 70:The parking. They said private parking but I had to park on the street. They really only had parking for four cars and you had to leave your keys to let other cars out
Review 71:The breakfast and facilities
Review 72:Nothing.
Review 73:I loved this hotel ! I would gladly go back again and again. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The food was excellent and the breakfast was the same. If you want a cooked breakfast the host will cook it fresh to your order. The town of Bacharach is quiet with beautiful buildings and the little castle above it on the hill. Getting up there is an effort but the views of the Rhein valley are well worth it. The castle itself is now a youth hostel.
Review 74:Had no way to reach owner on wed after checking in so we were unable to get robes or towels for sauna & pool. Parking not the best.
Review 75:Nice location. Easy access to river & town.
Review 76:You can hear your neighbors a bit. We really liked our stay and that didn't affect us at all.
Review 77:Ellen, the owner, was just lovely and so welcoming. We loved the swimming pool with stained glass lighting. The breakfast was also just so nice... And delicious.
Review 78:Great location at the entrance of the medieval wall. Typical germangasthaus, just what we had expected. Excellent food, great breakfast.Friendly owners, very helpfull. Will recommend without hesitation
Review 79:Pillow comfort and a few hairs in sheets.
Review 80:Let us check in super early, brought us espresso in bed, sauna is awesome and breakfast is fantastic. Customer service is spot on!
Review 81:Did not have lift to the top floor and wifi was weak in the bedroom. No means to boil hot water in the room.
Review 82:Authentic and cosy hotel along Rhine river. Owner was friendly and breakfast and dinner were nicely local.
Review 83:Stayed in separate building which connection had no roof cover in case of rain and cold in the morning going to breakfast in the main building.
Review 84:Location, very easy to find. Friendliness of the staff. Plentiful and varied breakfast. Free parking. Decent size room and bath. Central to the pretty small town of Bacharach.
Review 85:Pillows too soft. Some noise from nearby railway line. Difficult parking near hotel for offloading / loading bags from car
Review 86:superb restaurant food. very helpful friendly staff. Good central location.
Review 87:For light sleepers, train noise can be a problem. The window sound insulation is good, but there is some noise. All the good hotels on this route suffer the same problem. The railroad has even subsidised window upgrades for the hotels. Advice: bring ear plugs and enjoy.
Review 88:Hostess/owner a delight.
Review 89:The beds were funky but not unusual for a German village hotel. We had aproblem with one mattress that the hotel could not resolve while we werethere but this may not have been typical. (Although it must have beenthere for a while.) The room decor was retro but fit with the building. There was some background noise: creaky building and trains. Can'tdo much about the trains in this valley, they were no problem for us asour room was in the back.
Review 90:You have to think about this hotel in context. It's a family runhotel (8 generations) in a small village. It's run out of therestaurant, no lobby or reception area. Pros: Restaurant is trulyoutstanding, breakfast was terrific. Kind and helpful staff. Greatbathroom, modern and even had a shower curtain. Elevator! Location incenter of village and close to the ferry docks. Very clean.
Review 91:Trains were only a slight problem on one night when tracks were used for freight trains. The other nights the passenger trains were no problem. Carpeting needed to be vacuumed especially in the corners. I really wish we had eaten dinner in their restaurant.
Review 92:The person at the front desk was very friendly. The river view room was nice. River was not very close, but it also looked out on one of the old towers and gates. The room had a fan which was helpful, although the weather was pleasant at the end of August. Bathroom was very clean.
Review 93:-noise from trains during the night. -wifi did not work everywhere in hotel.
Review 94:-Staff were very kind and helpful. -Breakfast was good. Location good for exploring best of the Rhein.
Review 95:Room in sore need off improvement - cracked shower partition glass, reversed hot/cold water in sink, old carpeting. Train noisesubstantial. Wifi really poor in room; better in restaurant.
Review 96:Staff very friendly, including doing a large load of laundry for only 10euro. Restaurant, including breakfast was very good.
Review 97:Having never been to Bacharach, we were delighted by this unique and charming village. Even more so, we were delighted with the Hotel Bacharacher Hof. Traveling with a party of 8 can, at times, be challenging. But that was not the case here. We were immediately greeted by our hostess, Ellen, and directed to the parking area. Check in took about 1 minute for all of us (which is never the case in America) and we were shown to our rooms. My room was a triple and we stayed two nights. The sleeping area was more than sufficient and the bathroom was large. We faced the Rhein and the train tracks. While others commented about the noise of the trains, we found this to not be a problem at all. We were fortunate enough to be able to watch a fireworks display from our windows, overlooking the Rhein, which was part of a local wine fest going on in town. We decided to try the dinner here and, to our surprise, Ellen already had a table set up for 8. She said she likes to be prepared. For the remainder of our stay, we had the same table ready for us. We enjoyed wonderful breakfasts consisting of German breads, jams, meats, cheeses, cereals, juices, even eggs/bacon/sausages. Ellen made coffee available as soon as we entered the dining room. We also had dinner here a second night, again delicious, and prepared by our host, Dirk. Among the 8 of us, we tried a variety of dishes. Among our favorites were the sauerbraten and schnitzels Thank you Ellen and Dirk for a memorable and pleasant stay. If traveling to Bacharach, please stay here. You will not be disappointed.
Review 98:There's was a musty smell in the stairwell. It could have been toilets, or just an old building. Once I your room you did not smell it. Furnishings were old but comfortable. The place could be cleaner and the wi-Fi was bad.
Review 99:Location and staff were excellent. The breakfast was great.
Review 100:The lights were "automatic," but never came on quite soon enough when we walked to our room in the dark. Internet worked, but was a little spotty.
Review 101:The location is great! Right by everything in Bacharach, particularly the main square, church, and the K-D river cruises. Breakfast was amazing -- hot and cold items, and delicious. We thought it was the best breakfast of our three-week trip. Ask for a room with a balcony and view of the castle -- it's charming!
Review 102:The railway line was very close but we soon got used to it.
Review 103:A traditional German Inn in a great location. Friendly staff, great breakfast and a good sized room. Free parking was a bonus as was the swimming pool which is unusual in an Inn/hotel of this size.
Review 104:View but was good to be inward facing to lessen train noise.
Review 105:Obviously loved the location. Dierks and Ellen were fantastic. Delicious food at restuarant. Would stay again.
Review 106:Being close to the railway line, but with the double glazed windows they certainly helped and we had a good nights sleep.
Review 107:We had a lovely dinner, probably the best we had in Europe. Breakfast was also very good. Our room was very spacious and clean and had a view of the Rhine. Bathroom was very large. The pool was relaxing. The Owners very friendly.
Review 108:The very close proximity of the railway line, and even the one on the other side of the Rhein, did tend to unsettle us as we tried to get to sleep, but this did get somewhat easier with each successive night.
Review 109:Nothing at all.!!
Review 110:Great welcome by the friendly hotel owners on our arrival, after driving 11 hours from Italy to the hotel. Lovely quite suite and excellent meal for the 2 of us.A great stopover,as only 15 mins off the A61 Motorway, but also would be good as a base for exploring the Rhine Gorges.
Review 111:The rooms can get hot but there is a fan in the room which helps quite a bit
Review 112:The owners are very nice and accommodating. Breakfast was very good. Location is excellent to the river cruise line which is right across the street. Our room was very large. The bathroom was clean but on the small side. They have an indoor pool. This hotel is located within the walls of Bacharach and was a nice, historic stay.
Review 113:1. check out time is too early - 10am 2. there is no baggage room to store bags. the only place is to put it on the chairs in front of the bar counter. i wonder if anyone would put their bags there. Suggest to extend the check out time. Else, prepare a proper baggage room with bag tagging.
Review 114:1. Ellen is very friendly and helpful. 2. Good location.
Review 115:- Really overpriced - Staff was not understanding at all: due to a suicide our train had a big delay and we missed our next 3 connections. Next possibility was to arrive at Bacharach at 1 am. We called the hotel to inform them about our late arrival. The guy was extremely unfriendly, told us he wouldn't open the door, didn't even try to help us, hang up on us (and charged us the night and the breakfast we missed). Of course, it was not his fault, but one wouldn't expect such a behavior from a hotelier. - Shower was not clean, bathroom and room were tiny and not very soundproof. - There was a weird smell in the room.
Review 116:nice swimming pool breakfast
Review 117:Nothing
Review 118:The staff and owner was very friendly, informative and helpful. The breakfast was really good. The pool was open 24 hours! It is located in a great area.
Review 119:Beds uncomfortable unless you like a firm mattress. Great hotel otherwise. This only reason I didn't recommend it.
Review 120:Friendly, helpful staff. parked right next to hotel. Gave us a free day pass to public parking next to KD cruiseline. Excellent breakfast. Unfortunately forgot our bathing suits as pool looked inviting. Enjoyed balcony in evening for glass of wine with view of castle.
Review 121:- Wifi was on but did not work - No staff on-site/available after 10pm - The trains are very loud if you are on the east side of the building and they run all night. I had the window open because it was very hot (no aircon), but I had to close it and sleep with a fan because of the train noise. - The shower was not sealed properly so water spilled out all over the floor and into the hallway. This had happened many times in the past as evidenced by all of the water stains on the door.
Review 122:- I liked the fact that the hotel was located in a medieval town along the Rhine. Great views from the east side of the building. - There was plenty of space in the Triple Room (bedroom with a twin bed and a sofa, bedroom with a king bed, and a bathroom.) - Breakfast was large, varied and quite good - Parking was available in a small space next to the hotel. - Minibar is stocked with wine, beer, Cokes and water (for a fee, of course), but you get one large bottle of mineral water for free. - Staff was friendly
Review 123:Nearby rail line may be a concern for a light sleeper.
Review 124:Staff very courteous and helpful. Provided useful advice on what to see and do. Great food in the restaurant.
Review 125:Parking, but I think that is part of the country and culture. However, the managers made sure it worked for us and it was fine.
Review 126:The managers were very receptive, friendly and made it a great experience. The town was very quaint and started our vacation out on the right foot. The food for breakfast and their restaurant for dinner was fantastic.
Review 127:The originality of the town, hospitality of the people & great location on the Rhein to discover other places and taking the ferry, train or riding a bike.
Review 128:Staff was incredibly nice, helpful, and spoke very good English. They went out of their way to answer our questions and point us in the right direction. The weather was cooler while we were there, so not having A/C was not a problem. The room had 2 fans, which was sufficient.
