Reviews for Moda Hotel
Review 1:The bed was hard, there was no batbroom fan and no hand soap provided.
Review 2:That it was close to the theatre we were going to, and that there was a restaurant attached.
Review 3:Very hard mattresses in basic rooms so if that is a concern you may need to upgrade to a suite as this has great plush mattresses. Internet was quite slow.
Review 4:The hotel is conveniently located with parking nearby that is affiliated with the hotel at a reasonable rate. The rooms are nicely appointed with all that you would need. There are several options to choose from based on your budget like suites or king size beds etc. The staff are very responsive to your requests and/ or needs.... We originally had a king size bed and found it too hard. We asked for a change and were upgraded to a suite at a very reasonable rate even though it was New Years Eve.
Review 5:The rooms were a little modest compared to the website pictures. Paint on walls chipped.
Review 6:The location was very central and convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms basic but clean.
Review 7:Didn't know that the parking would cost extra but it was no big deal and was only $14 Canadian for the day I checked in through the next day at 6 pm.
Review 8:Location was great and you could walk everywhere. Parking was secure but it was extra.
Review 9:The room was not that clean and was smelly and noisy. The walls between rooms was thin.
Review 10:The hotel seemed nice enough on the internet....was in a good location.
Review 11:The staff allowed us to use a debit card for the damage deposit initially for our first room. When other guests arrived, we were told that it was a one time exception (which we were not prepared for.) There was one manager who made me feel uncomfortable and I did not want to come back.
Review 12:The location was awesome. Close to everything. Also, it's a historic building which was cool!
Review 13:Location was fantastic and price was great. Could here a bit from the people above us, but nothing major. Excellent place to stay if your spending lots of your time sight seeing and want a location that has lots to offer around it.
Review 14:Rooms on the chilly side - but old building, so have to accept some compromises
Review 15:Location and the friendly/helpful staff - arrived midday and they were let me check in and freshen up after trans-Pacific flight
Review 16:The location is perfect! Right in downtown, but one street behind Granville st, so it is not noise lIke staying on Granville. Close to skytrain (3-5 mins walk) and busses as well. Coffee machine in the room was a nice bonus for me. Bed was comfortable and it was very clean in the room. Didn't have any problems with checking in and out. Perfect stay for that money. Would stay again.
Review 17:bathroom tub was out of date and uncofortable and the cable channels were very limited
Review 18:clean room comfy bed nice hardwood floors and a mini fridge was convienant
Review 19:It's better to check in before 3pm so you can stop the car by entrance, otherwise there are stopping restrictions. Parking was across street.
Review 20:The staff was friendly, paid attention to any issues before I could tell them (they fixed a blind), beds were comfy, double windows kept street noise out, and near to shopping and restaurants.
Review 21:During my stay in Canada, I have been in travels in several provinces and I really love the country! Actually, It was very easy to use public transit and booking.com helped me in several ways to find out a pleasant living here! According to my travel experience and a cordial reception in all aspects, I believe my stay here was one of the best I ever could book in Vancouver downtown. An impressive steam clock was located nearby at Gas Town. I can't stop remind myself about the wonderful past in Vancouver B.C. Actually, I push myself don't cry but it always ends up in a flood of tears inside me. Cheers, Kenneth
Review 22:The coridors have a funky smell...No such smell in the rooms though.
Review 23:The location is wonderful, right in the middle of downtown, walking distance to the shore, Yaletown, even to the Stanley Park on a sunny day.
Review 24:Bar under our room was very noisy. Windows are terrible and you can hear everything.
Review 25:Bed was comfortable, location is great. Restaurants are both excellent.
Review 26:the hotel had such a nice lobby. The room was smaller than we thought it would be, but not bad for the price we paid. The walls are a little thin so it was easy to hear things going on outside.
Review 27:The things I didn't like had to do with the structure of the building. The suite was perfect for what we were looking for. We didn't expect more then what we received.
Review 28:Colors, very basic. Exactly what we needed for our trip.
Review 29:Had to leave a day early due to family emergency
Review 30:Wonderful old hotel with lots of character; especially the original elevator with the capacity to carry only 2 customers and their luggage
Review 31:The hotel is older...rather musty smelling. It was updated about ten years ago...time for some paint. The room was very sparse..but the price was right...
Review 32:The staff were outstanding...and the location is excellent. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 33:Staff is OK, they don't really pay attention to you. A lot of noise from ventilators on the roof next to are window.
Review 34:Really close to the city-centre and not to expensive. Clean room and a nice bathroom.
Review 35:It was so noisy, it smelled kind of weird and was pretty old, overall. Our bathroom wasn't very clean- there was hair along the baseboards when we checked in. They also didn't restock our towels or soaps when they cleaned the room. The housekeeping staff also banged on our doors early both mornings, even with the 'Do Not Disturb' sign up.
Review 36:It was very central to everything because of its location.
Review 37:The floor in our room was sloped and the building was very old. The pictures and description from the website did not depicted this. Was a let down and to be honest the room was creepy.
Review 38:The rooms were very dirty. Dust on every counter top, AC units very loud an did not allow you to lower fan spead, bathrooms very dirty, tiles on floor needed a goo scrub an clean, towels very old, stiff an scratchy. All skirting an walls need to be wiped. Pillows the lumpest I've ever stayed on. Called reception to ask to change room, they toke me to same type of room however room was in the same state. Said he would reset my AC unit but never did, never brought me new pillows. Told me house keeping would give my room a good clean yet they never did. I was highly upset with the lack of effort in cleaning the rooms even after a complaint.
Review 39:Location
Review 40:The staff was wonderful, very helpful and polite .I would go back there anytime. The location to Robson ,shops ,restaurants and Rogers Arena was perfect.
Review 41:It is on main road where the noises of the cars and people almost inside the room The towels available are very small to be used after shower and old
Review 42:The location is great near to the city centre and shopping
Review 43:No parking area. Had difficulty to park and load baggage during restricted hours (7:30-9:30am and 3-6pm).
Review 44:(1) good location, close to shops and traffic (2) friendly staff (3) towels and bed sheets are white and clean
Review 45:The hotel is simple but clean most of the time. One day the maid didn´t change the ditry glasses and coffee pots which wasn´t very nice, because we had even left some money for her...
Review 46:Very nice people at front desk, helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated near Robson Street with various shops, a very good sports bar is just around the corner with excellent food an beer on the tap.
Review 47:Pillows are soft, harder one is preferred. Elevator is slow. Recommendation: They have restaurant on site, good to include an option for breakfast in the room booking.
Review 48:in terms of the price i paid for a hotel in downtown Vancouver, this is absolutely a great choice. The location is perfect, just walking distance to Skytrain, bus stops, cafe and restaurants but it is on a less busy street. Room is spacious. You have everythings, iron, safe, kettle, business centre where you can use PC and printer. All receptionists I met over the 8 days are friendly and helpful. I must especially thank Addison who has done more than a receptionist should do. She helped me to sort out activities that might fit my schedules and proactively offered various help including directions, choices of restaurants, checking Skytrain schedule so that i wouldn't miss my flight. She is also cheerful who greets whenever she sees a guest, well done! I definitely will book this hotel for my future trips to Vancouver (which i have done for my trip next year) and recommend to my friends who are frequent travellers to the place.
Review 49:Couldn't connect to the WiFi on my laptop, my anti virus kept blocking with warnings. Perhaps it's time to upgrade the system.
Review 50:We used the Pub, the Bar and the restaurant all of which were very good.
Review 51:Was decent and clean enough; street noise wan't noticiable from the 3rd floor. Not as fancy as the pictures make it out to be tho. Location is key; price was a fraction of other downtown hotels.
Review 52:Parking was on a different block, made carrying bags a hassle. Everyday at 7:30 in the morning the staff started slamming doors constantly. Based on the price and pictures I expected more.
Review 53:Very good location. Secure parking.
Review 54:The first impression was not so nice, with stains on the wall in the bathroom, some maintenance would be good to improve these details
Review 55:Location is the best you can get in Vancouver for a fair price. The hotel is cute and the bed comfy and overall very nice, it just need some maintenance and some paint on the walls, especially in the bathroom.
Review 56:An included breakfast would be good. And also, we heard quite a lot of traffic noise inside the room. Some extra isolation would be good.
Review 57:The location is superb! There is a very nice restaurant and bar downstairs. The rooms are clean and nice. Reasonably priced voor Vancouver standards.
Review 58:Perhaps a little more lighting could be great in the room. There was no "ceiling light" and the only available lighting was two table lamps. If I unplugged one to use as a charging terminal (as they were no other sockets) the room was pretty dark.
Review 59:Excellent staff who were friendly and helpful in all aspects. The location was great and the rooms were fantastic. For the price I paid in central Vancouver, really couldn't complain much.
Review 60:The rooms were so small, and the bed was rather uncomfortable. Our room was directly over the central heating and cooling system for the hotel, and I wish they had told us that. We only had a one night stay, so didn't think it would be too noisy at night, but it was, and now I wish I had asked for another room. The stay was very noisy.
Review 61:The location was convenient for exploring downtown, and close to the Rogers arena. The bathrooms were nice. Parking was secure and right across the street, for a small fee. Liked the small boutique style hotel feel, and history of the hotel.
Review 62:Its proximity to Robson St shopping, this hotel is in a central and safe area of Vancouver, and within easy walking distance to Gastown, the Vancouver Lookout, Stanley Park, and in the other direction, agora ville Island. This is a perfect position for inner city shopping, nice coffee shops, and public transport if you want to go further afield. The staff were excellent and extremely helpful.
Review 63:Great little hotel. I asked for a specific room and got exactly what I requested. Super nice staff and the Uva is a very pleasant way to spent a couple hours. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Review 64:Minus the leak (which wasn't the hotels fault), there is nothing bad about this hotel or the staff! I've stayed here many times and all complaints or comments are considered and appreciated. Thank you for the upgrade - I know the leak was not your fault!
Review 65:Well, after a minor leak in our room from the AC during a heatwave in Vancouver. The manager was kind enough to put us in another room. To our surprise, we were upgraded to the Moda Series suites. Wonderful staff and great value for the money! Definitely recommend this hotel to young couples - great location too!
Review 66:Room had a horrid mystery smell. After contacting reception staff (whowere very helpful) we were moved to another room. Music until early hrsof the next morning from the pub below. (So loud I first thought theradio was on in the room when we checked in!)
Review 67:Location is good
Review 68:small room, large a/c fan unit visible & hearable from window over back street. small wall tv ..no volume control on remote. utility grade hard chairs.
Review 69:great hotel location, friendly staff
Review 70:Traffic and one ways made it a little awkward to find parking to check in, however once we parked in the secure parking lot, all was ok!
Review 71:Opposite the Orpheum, which is why we were there to see a concert.
Review 72:In some rooms, there is much noise from an aircondition system near the hotel.
Review 73:All in all a very nice and friendly hotel in a very nice Vancouver neighbourhood - the restaurant, Wine bar and sportsbar are also excellent.
Review 74:Our bedroom faced a roof. The view wasn't the problem. The problem was the noise (perhas related to the system of air conditioning) made by pipes on the roof.
Review 75:Excellent location. Staff was cordial and the bedroom was clean and comfortable. They store the baggage for us until late in the afternoon when we checked out.
Review 76:Nothing to dislike.
Review 77:Great position in central Vancouver. Close proximity to bottle shop, supermarket, restaurants, Uva Bar. Upgrade to suite on return visit to Vancouver was lovely and ability to leave luggage while tripping elsewhere was really handy.
Review 78:dirty room well used very very , loud from street below security is an issue there is none you check in in across the street walk over to a different building whitch anyone on the the samme street can access for your elevator no security at all , would never ever stay there again simply of no security , never felt comfortable
Review 79:close to the venue or game
Review 80:Perfect! The staff were particularly helpful and polite. The room was quiet and very comfortable. The location and hotel standard couldn't be beaten for the price
Review 81:Great location only 10 mins walk from the bars and restaurants of Yaletown and 15 mins from the shopping on Robson Street. The bars/restaurants attached to the hotel were also great with Staff were very helpful with directions and recommendations
Review 82:It was a bit noisy but expected for the location and also being the weekend.
Review 83:Staff was awesome, very helpful and friendly. The room was done up modern and comfortable location to everything was for us walking distance which was great.
Review 84:We loved the location of this hotel. If you are interested in seeing various parts of Vancouver, this is an excellent place to stay! It is close to transit and is extremely walkable to all the places we wanted to see (Stanley Park, Yaletown, Gastown, Chinatown...admittedly Stanley Park was a long walk but a 30 min walk on a nice day is pleasant!). It was also very close to the cruise terminal, which was perfect for getting us to the next part of our trip!
Review 85:The facilities are really old and in need of freshening up. Unfortunately soundproofing is terrible so you will hear both the traffic and your neighbours. It's a wooden structure so the noise travels easily.
Review 86:Lication works really well as it is right in the middle of down town so, if you like to walk, you can walk everywhere in central Vancouver
Review 87:No compleints.
Review 88:The staff went out of there way to help out. The two girls that handled the front lobby are excellent and the latin guy from the morning.
Review 89:Bathroom door would not shut all the way, pain on walls were scrapped off badly; virtually no place to put clothes from suitcase, light in bathroom really dim.
Review 90:good location. Liked the restaurant, great brunch. Though one of the times the cream for coffee was sour and curdled, but remedied quickly.
Review 91:Well located in downtown Vancouver, within walking distance of Gastown and Granville Island. Stylish, comfortable and clean. Staff helpful, arranging a taxi at 5sm to catch the train to Seattle
Review 92:The tea and coffee in the room were the worst we have ever experienced in many years of international travel. The coffee made International Roast taste good!
Review 93:The staff were friendly and very helpful. Room was comfortable and clean.
Review 94:Black pudding as a breakfast option. The attached restaurant, sports bar and wine bar. The style, the service and the location. Who could ask for more?
Review 95:Not any electrical outlets for charging iPhones or coffee pot. (Awkward) TV did not work. Chairs were quite primitive, need upscaling, blind did not work,
Review 96:The location. The cleanliness, the friendly helpful staff, the closeness to amenities, Starbucks, Grocery store, liquor store and pubs.
Review 97:Bathroom towels and shower where "old and tired". Would like to see bath sheets and shower head with volume and pressure.
Review 98:Room was quiet with comfortable bed.
Review 99:Bathroom door needed some adjustment. Traffic noise, but it is the City.
Review 100:Really good breakfast, they should advertise this part more. Pleasant front desk personnel.
Review 101:The room was billed as 'deluxe queen room'. What we got was very small, basic & dark which was disappointing as I booked accommodation in October 2014.
Review 102:The restaurant downstairs where we had breakfast. The friendly reception lady.
Review 103:I understand that it is an older building but the one elevator is very slow and cramped with a stroller. Also we did get the cheaper room, but it was really tight in there, doable for 2 nights but opt for a bigger room if staying longer.
Review 104:It was a great location and staff was very friendly.
Review 105:The photos on booking.com were stunning and we were coming to this hotelfull of excitement but as soon as we arrived, the room was nothing likeit was on the photos on the website. The room was cramped altogether andthere was only one electricity plug. Overall stay was alright, it couldhave been worse but it was far from great. Avoid if you can.
Review 106:One large bed
Review 107:The wifi was a bit tricky, but worked well the majority of the time.
Review 108:The bed and bathroom exceeded my expectations, and the staff was incredibly helpful and pleasant.
Review 109:Our room was facing some noisy side, impossible to leave windows open - too noisy
Review 110:The best location you can get if you are aiming just city touring. Everything is close - Yaletown, Gastown, Waterfront, Vancouver Lookout and two sky train stations as well as great shopping and food options. Very nice staff
Review 111:When we first arrived the room smelt like cat piss, and i think the bed had bed bugs as we both ended up with little bites on our legs after sleeping in the beds
Review 112:Staff were awesome and very helpful!!!
Review 113:The room was dingy and unpleasant-smelling. The front-desk clerk smelled worse. The bathroom was barely big enough to turn around in -paint on the walls wasn't finishes.
Review 114:The bed was fine.
Review 115:The carpet needs to be replaced and the traffic noise was loud but the location was great
Review 116:I liked the tile flooring in the bathroom area and the beautiful shower The European style restaurant was great for breakfast
Review 117:My room looked over a back alley with the air circulation right under the window. The outside noise was a bit loud.
Review 118:I like the style of the hotel, newer re-model with big rooms and hallways.
Review 119:Didn't care for the open shower.
Review 120:Well appointed, stylish room. Convenient to rail station, BC Place. Easy walk from the cruise port. Will hold luggage before/after check-in or check-out. Good sports bar/pub.
Review 121:our key card expired 30 minutes before our extended checkout making us have to go back down to the lobby to get the key reactivated before we could get the car.
Review 122:staff was very accommodating. Our room was upgraded to a nicer room.
Review 123:The restaurants were over priced. The food was average, We booked a queen size bed and were given a double. Our room was in the back and we could here the fans from the top of the building below us.
Review 124:The location was great.
Review 125:Small room, very simple... expected a bit more but hard to describe what it is that was missing.
Review 126:Good location, easy to get to train, Robson, Roger's Arena, Granville...
Review 127:Elevator broken on morning of check out. But the staff packed us out from the top floor.
Review 128:Super helpful staff. They did their best to make our stay very enjoyable.
Review 129:The stairs - smelled like urine and had take out food on each landing ( homeless hangout)
Review 130:We walked into the hotel to be directed to our room across the street - there looked like homeless slept on the stairs( and it smelled like urine - that concerned me However, the elevator was clean and the doors lock on the floor For safety The room shocked me- it was adorable and very clean and surprisingly quiet - so - if im going to a concert at the Orpheum or granville, I'll stay there again For the money it was good The bed was
Review 131:Hotel has a history some antique floors still preserved, nice restaurant, good efficient front desk staff. Great location easy walk to Train to and from the airport lots of restaurant choices in the area including cheaper options.
Review 132:Not much, could use new modern windows.
Review 133:The Parking was very secure and easy to get to. Room was clean and the staff was freindly and helpfull. Great location.
Review 134:Hotel seems to have been renovated but already is run down. I have long hair and was not given new shampoo and conditioner for the entire time except for the first tiny bottle on night one!!
Review 135:The staff were very helpful and location was good to city centre areas
