Reviews for Hotel Germania

Review 1:Superb small German Christmas market town for a wonderful traditional experience with the added attraction of the backdrop of a Castle above the Mosel.

Review 2:Excellent breakfast (warm&cold - lots of choices) with many local people as well Nice & Friendly staff Location (by the Moselle, close to the train station/centre-ville)

Review 3:Nothing at all.

Review 4:Room: We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and the hotel gave us a wonderful room with a balcony with a view of the castle. They called it the Location: It's a short walk from the train station. There are river tour boats across the street and everything you want to see in Cochem is close by. Staff: The gentleman was who checked us in and seemed to be the manager was an excellent host who spoke very good English.

Review 5:A fairly long walk to train station. Wifi was poor. They said they would fix it, but it never did work well during our stay.

Review 6:Close to bus. Right in center of tourist activities. Nice view of castle and river.

Review 7:If I were to make any suggestions, it would be to improve internet connection speeds - it was extremely slow, as everywhere in Europe. Also, maybe modernising the shower cubicle. Having said that, the bathroom was still at a good standard.

Review 8:There was a lot we liked about Hotel Germania - not least its fabulous location and super helpful manager. His suggestions re restaurants and his help in carrying luggage from the car was excellent. Nothing we asked for was too much. The room was spacious and very tastefully furnished. Superb cafe.

Review 9:We had a room with a balcony that had a beautiful view of the castle. Our room was spacious but the furnishings appeared a little dated, especially the old portable box tv. Everyone complained about the WiFi but we had no issues. All in all we were quite pleased with our brief stay.

Review 10:We have stayed at this location a number of times and each has been a very positive experience. The rooms are nice, without frills. The parking can be challenging if you are staying during the day, overnight parking is free from 19:00 to 8:00.

Review 11:Front desk staff fabulous! Herbert searched a route from Cochem to Bernkastel Kues and it was a great adventure, thank you Herbert! Lovely hotel convenient area of town. Our second visit and definitely will be back! Love your hotel.

Review 12:Restaurant closes early. I think it was 6:00. We had a reservation at the Hotel and our train was going to be later than 6:00. Call ahead if you are going to arrive after 6. We were glad we did.

Review 13:Great location, breakfast was awesome

Review 14:The bed was too soft Having to park car about 500 meters from the hotel

Review 15:The view of the Moselle and the castle! The size of the room and the lovely terrace for coffee and cake.

Review 16:We stayed in the beginning of July and I understand why the rooms do not have air conditioning (since average summer temps are usually in the 70's) but it would be nice if the hotel invested in portable fans. The room was uncomfortably warm even with the door and window open which made sleeping difficult. Also, this was the most expensive hotel of our entire trip which included Brussels, Bruges, and Amsterdam. It's a very nice hotel but a bit high in price.

Review 17:The location was excellent but Cochem is quite small so just about any of the hotels available are in an excellent location. The room was very clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. We had a small juliet balcony and a great view of the river. The included breakfast was delicious and offered a large variety.

Review 18:breakfast was quite average. often, replaced food was not made for some dishes. Noise from the alley below. very difficult to get to sleep many nights.

Review 19:It can be noisy especially at the morning because of the traffic and street cleaning!

Review 20:Nice stay in Cochem. Definitely it is a good hotel. It is located just at the beginning of the promenade, next to the bridge and cruise boats. Rooms are good sized, with a very comfortable bed. Unfortunately without conditioning! Perfect breakfast.

Review 21:Spotty wifi (had to re enter code after 30 minutes or so). Parking is off site (about 5 minute walk away). FYI, Although there is an elevator, you will have to carry your things up some stairs (maybe 8 in total) to get to elevator.

Review 22:The location is perfect! Easy to get around from hotel. Abundant breakfast with view of Mosel. Large room!

Review 23:Only sad thing was we checked in just after they closed their terrace cafe but we had breakfast out there in morning.

Review 24:Lovely river view with very narrow balcony but it gave us access to good views to side to see wonderful Reichsburg Castle. Comfortable room

Review 25:Staff were exceptional and so friendly. There were numerous outlets in convenient locations. There was a towel warmer in bathroom. Breakfast was at 8 am, but we were allowed to eat earlier so that we could catch an early train. Great selection of hot and cold items. Nice hot delicious decaf coffee. Comfortable bed with fluffy pillows.

Review 26:The free wifi didn't work in the room.

Review 27:Perfect location. Friendly and efficient service, checked in within 5 mins. Room comfortable and clean. Fantastic breakfast buffet.

Review 28:Definitely stay on the river side. The "city view" is a view of a wall without any city. We traded up and glad we did

Review 29:The brunch on Sunday was out of this world. The room on the third floor was outstanding with a little balcony that had a view of the castle.

Review 30:Service is OK. Staff is friendly enough but don't go above or beyond. We asked for directions and they told us to use google, they could have done that and printed us a map. Other examples where we were surprised for a hotel they didn't try to make our experience better. Facilities were clean, bed was comfy but door and shower were broken. Wifi is poor.

Review 31:Fabulous location and amazing breakfast

Review 32:Connection with the internet was only average, but we stayed on the top floor and who needs internet in a location like that?

Review 33:The breakfast was of royal quality, the bed was heavenly and the interior of the room was extremely welcoming

Review 34:Their internet was pretty slow.

Review 35:Hotel Germania is located in an ideal location in Cochom - right by shops, restaurants, boat rides and bike rental. Rooms were clean with the size and decor typical of small German hotels. The breakfast was great.

Review 36:Room #302 is a corner room, with balcony and a beautiful view of both the Mosel River and the castle Breakfast is excellent, as is bakery for afternoon coffee and cake

Review 37:car parking is a little difficult.

Review 38:Terrific staff, service was outstanding...really nice people and atmosphere...hotel not the grandest in style but absolutely a place to which I will return...Comfortable, great location and really good value, topped by a great breakfast and a great staff.

Review 39:The staff was always courteous, and we had a beautiful room overlooking the Mosel River. The breakfast was the best we had in our month-long trip. We will definitely make a return visit.

Review 40:WiFi was poor, in fact non existent in my room. Parking was expensive and away from the hotel

Review 41:Great location for exploring the area, dining out, etc.Friendly staff with good breakfast.

Review 42:Nothing

Review 43:Perfect location. River view rooms tastefully furnished. Excellent breakfast. The popular café serves a splendid range of freshly made cakes, a great place for watching the activities on the river. We wondered whether the owners would think about providing evening meals based on the quality of the food they are already providing.

Review 44:Personal and friendly with charm in the centre of everything.

Review 45:If anything not really much choice of television channels

Review 46:Great staff...super friendly...not our first stay here. And the breakfast is awesome.

Review 47:Poor wifi connectivity in our room.

Review 48:Excellent location, staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

Review 49:Had everything that we expected and the service was excellent .

Review 50:Great location, less than 10 min walk from train. 15 -20 min walk up to castle. Nice sized room and good breakfast!

Review 51:Spacious room facing Mosel River. Staff was very accommodating.

Review 52:Very nice boutique hotel . Love their selection of buffet breakfast . Well definitely recommend to others .

Review 63:Beautiful little town, great friendly hosts and a very good breakfast.

Review 64:Location,spacious room, nice little balcony looking out over the river and a very comfortable bed.. Staff were nice and friendly..

Review 65:WiFi was poor.

Review 66:Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean hotel with spacious rooms. Excellent breakfast.

Review 67:Some noise from drunk people in the night in the city

Review 68:Nice location / Friendly staff / excellent breakfast /

Review 69:Wi-fi prone to dropping out

Review 70:Friendly and helpful staff/concierge. Great breakfast included. Terrific location. And what a beautiful town!!

Review 71:Internet quality is poor

Review 72:Amazing location and views. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff.

Review 73:Music right next door until the early morning hours difficult to sleep

Review 74:Good breakfast friendly helpful staff.

Review 75:Their are no hotel staff after 6pm when the Cafe closes. So do arrive before then.

Review 76:The Hotel Germania is well located close to the bridge in the centre of town. Off road parking is a short walk away. Good views over the Mosel from the window. Their cafe is very popular, cakes are yummy. At the rear of the hotel is a wine shop and we enjoyed a wine tasting evening trying locally grown wines..

Review 77:The staff was rarely at the reception desk. It made it difficult to get information. The hotel did not have air conditioning so it was a bit hot when it came down to sleeping. The windows were open but it was still warm. Internet password was given to you once you checked in. Unfortunately it was for one device only.

Review 78:The location was ideal for what we wanted to do...wine tasting, eat, and shop. The hotel was clean and charming. The breakfast was just want we wanted: eggs, sausage, bread, cheeses, etc. We enjoyed the breakfast.

Review 79:The hotel was very clean, with spacious rooms and friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast had lots of choice and was very tasty too. The location was also excellent. Such a beautiful town and somewhere I am glad we took the time to drive to and visit.

Review 80:Nothing this is a great place to stay

Review 81:This is a lovely hotel. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean with a nice bathroom. It is in a central location just opposite the river. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent one of the best we have had in Germany.

Review 82:Great location. Nice and helpful staff. Good breakfast for a hotel of this standard. High-quality towels. Beautiful view. Overall, a very nice hotel. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would really like to come back.

Review 83:The fan in the bathroom was rather noisy.

Review 84:The room was large with windows overlooking the Moselle. There was a nice terrace that guests could use with tables, chairs and comfortable swing that also overlooked the river. The breakfast was one of the better ones that we had during our travels in Germany.

Review 85:1 week after checkout, the hotel charged extra 156Eur, without any notice. In the same time, they sent an e-mail, that I had to return the white small paper which they gave me to go to the parking. As nobody asked to return this paper, when I returned keys ( and nobody asked about it in advance ) this small paper, with dates of parking was left in a hired car. The hotel don't reply to any questions and mails. The wifi works only on 1-2 floors.

Review 86:Very nice location, right in the center, good breakfast.

Review 87:Nothing to dislike.

Review 88:Hotel was very central to Cochem, the room was large and clean and the staff very friendly. Car parking is a 2 minute walk away from the hotel in a secure car park. Breakfast was brilliant, a huge selection to choose from and constantly refreshed.

Review 89:hotel room smelled a little weird (possibly mold), but no one interfered on. We booked the room with patio, the patio is shared with others and there is no exit from the room without going out to the hallway, but it was a great patio.

Review 90:Really nice hotel, centrally located in Cochem, with only a few steps to restaurants, shopping and Moselle. The car park is located 500 m from the hotel and is in a garage. Internet worked very well, could even watch the television broadcast via internet. Very good value too.

Review 91:this was a fantastic hotel experience even though it is over a konditori and that closes at 6 and you are on your own. it is in the heart of things. the room is wonderful and the breakfast is beyond description, it is so lavish

Review 92:Nothing really although I have mobility difficulties and the private parking is about 400M from the hotel

Review 93:The room was quiet and clean. We slept well overlooking the Mosel. The breakfast was excellent. We will stay again in the Summer.

Review 94:The hotel was very nice and everyone was so friendy. Hotel Germania was located right in the heart of things so we did not need to rent a car. The train station was about a 10 minute walk. I would definately stay at this hotel again. My only disappointment was that everything shut down around 6:00, not all but even some of the restaurants closed around 6:00. I'm guessing since we were there in October it was a seasonal thing. We rented bikes and rode to Beilstein which was FABULOUS. Cochem was a great place to visit.

Review 95:We missed coffee/tea facilities in the room. The room was not cleaned every day. We missed a second comfortable seat. I knew it wasn't there, but for such a room it was recommend to have a bath.

Review 96:The breakfast was very good. The view and location to city center was perfect. It was nice that there was a bakery with lovely cakes in the hotel.

Review 97:The elevator was not working on the day of our arrival (Sunday) and we were on the fourth floor, but it was fixed promptly the next day.

Review 98:The staff at the Germania was wonderful. The breakfast was very generous with a great variety of fresh items. The location within easy walking distance of the local castle was perfect!

Review 99:The road between the Moselle and the hotel can get busy during peak times.

Review 100:The hotel was located directly on the Moselle river, in the historical centre of Cochem. The rooms were a good size, clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast was superb with a choice of a cooked breakfast, croissants, fruits, local jams, etc. Overall a very good hotel for any occassion.

Review 101:No services whatsoever after 6pm. If you get the munchies around 11pm, or need an extra set of towels, you're outta luck.

Review 102:The room was clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The location is perfect. You walk out the door and you're right on the Moselle river. Shops and restaurants are also well within walking distance. Breakfast was nice. A glass of champagne was offered. Food was fresh and constantly replenished.

Review 103:bit of an olderish hotel, - - - being sure, to be sure, about booking / the date of booking

Review 104:top notch breakfast, - - - minibar, - - - handy location, - - - free wifi, - - - front of hotel restaurant - with nifty 'cake of the month' - slice of cake option

Review 105:Lovely hotel overlooking the Moselle with cafe/restuarant attached. Well presented room with small balcony to sit and enjoy the river and people passing by. Breakfast was good with a wide choice including local sepcialities. Staff were friendly and helpful and the glass of sparkling wine when they realised it was my husbands birthday was much appreciated. if we return to the area we would definatley book here again.

Review 106:Because the hotel is located on the main strip, it was fairly noisy. Not so much that it was a huge problem, but because my room was facing the road I heard traffic and the bar next door.

Review 107:The staff were friendly and nice. The location of the hotel was very close to everything.

Review 108:The people at hotel Germania could not have been nicer and more welcoming. Excellent, classy hotel room with a wonderful breakfast bar. Great in-town location within walking distance to pretty much everything. The on-site bakery was a great bonus too!

Review 109:Absolutely fantastic hotel with lovely staff- could not recommend more highly! I typically never write any comments or reviews but am compelled to compliment this hotel and staff.

Review 110:Odd entry into hotel through the attached café.

Review 111:On the promenade overlooking the Mosel River!

Review 112:The hotel's location is excellent. The breakfast offers great variety, and fresh food.

Review 113:You have to park outside, but not too far.

Review 114:Excellent location and close to all the attractions. Pleasant environment.

Review 115:All good.

Review 116:Great location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Very clean. Great breakfast. Nice big room.

Review 117:Breakfast...Price....Charge for parking....Have been going here for 25years...prices are too high especially for breakfast.

Review 118:Location.

Review 119:Having to leave.

Review 120:Excellent location, lovely room, very nice breakfast.

Review 121:The breakfast
