Reviews for La Valija Hostel
Review 1:Showers are pretty bad, definitely need to be improved. Lockers in the rooms are so-so. Took a while for unoccupied beds to be cleaned up.
Review 2:Good location, very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 3:Cold showers, free breakfast was a few bread rolls in a plastic bag, so loud at night - there is a sign saying to keep the noise down after 11pm however we were kept up until at least 2am with a party that the hostel was hosting. We had to be up at 6am the next morning for a bus so that was really annoying. Hostel looked like it hasn't been properly cleaned in years. Toilet in our room just stopped working a night into our stay.
Review 4:Staff were nice
Review 5:Staff had to clean the room as we entered for the first time, and was still rubbish left in the room. Slow wifi. Skylight into the room with no way to block out sunlight.
Review 6:Brilliant location
Review 7:They don't have lockers, just some big boxes beneath the bunk beds. Also, the top shower is a little dangerous, since it's a bathtub without any rails to hold on when needed, it's very easy to fall. Also, the bunk beds are really high without any kind of protection, if you fall from up there during your sleep it will probably hurt.
Review 8:The staff is really cool and some of them can help you with everything around town. The price is good, beds are comfortable and the breakfast is fair.
Review 9:Staff willing to help travelers, gentle and lively. The hostel is animated but has clear rules on hours of rest. Perfect cleanliness and great accommodations.
Review 10:Staff is super sweet. There is a nice common area so it's easy to meet people. Location is perfect for getting around the city.
Review 11:No curtain at windows, few toilets and showers.
Review 12:Location, staff
Review 13:Private rooms without windows :-(
Review 14:Nice place, perfectly located with nice atmosphere. Quiet during night. Best breakfast ever had in a Hostel.
Review 15:I like everything
Review 16:The location and the mood of the hostel, the staff was nice , everything clean and secure!
Review 17:Excellent location and the lady who greeted us on arrival was very friendly and provided plenty of information
Review 18:We liked the location close to the escalater.
Review 19:Staff nice and helpful. Nice situation in a lovely neighborhood.
Review 20:Few showers for numbers of guests but not a major issue.
Review 21:Staff on reception created a chilled out vibe. Wills and Rebecca were so friendly and helpful. Relaxing lounge.
Review 22:Phantastic place in great location above the city centre (you have a clear view on the sea from some of the beds!), great people and very good atmosphere! Good facilities and breakfast -I'm very satisfied!
Review 23:There is only one shower, though it is a good, large, clean bathroom. I personally love a hostel that the staff will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ask how your day has been, what you would like to do and generally are super friendly. These guys were all lovely, but more chilled lovely. I didn't make any friends staying here, which could be lonely if you are hoping to meet people.
Review 24:If you are after somewhere quiet this is a place with lovely travellers and considerate people. The staff were nice and always helpful when asked.
Review 25:No windows in the private double bedroom, should be mentioned in the booking
Review 26:Very nice atmosphere in a traditional old building, lovely staff and nice communal area to relax
Review 27:It is a bit hard to find a first, so if you're carrying a heavy pack consider getting a cab, but once you find your feet the location is amazing!
Review 28:The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was better than normal, fresh fruit! Wifi was fantastic. The layout of the hostel creates a very warm and sociable environment to hangout and meet people, always staff floating around if you need a hand with anything. At first glance the location seems out of town, but after a little wandering you realise the location is right in the middle of everything that makes Valparaiso amazing, little alleys and hidden gems around every corner! Do the walking tour to really expose all the wonders the area has to offer.
Review 29:- verry friendly, helpful and kompetent stuff - verry good service and a great atmosphere - verry central in the citycenter This was one of the best hostels I stayed in and I would come back every time again.
Review 30:We stayed in a private double room, and felt that the room was not worth the price. The room was not well maintained; there was a broken window that the staff patched over with cardboard and tape. There was an outlet that was coming out from the wall and did not work. A fuse blew in the bathroom within the first minutes of our arrival and the lock for the door also fell apart. It seems like this room needs some updating.
Review 31:The hostal is very well located and the staff is very friendly.
Review 32:staff, location, the vibe you know like mabo or the constitution, a wonderful Castle for everybody.
Review 33:It is well located and the staff ware very kind and helpful. I loved my experience in there.
Review 34:I had a loud group in my dorm but there was nothing they could Do really. Definitely a young person's hostel.
Review 35:The staff was awesome.
Review 36:Good location, friendly and helpful staff and other guests. Nice atmosphere. All in all a good base for a few days in Valparaiso
