Reviews for Penticton Lakeside Resort

Review 1:We asked about parking when we checked in and were told we could park in the covered parking area. However we were not made aware there was a cost for parking of $5 per day. We did not know until we checked out and received our final bill.

Review 2:The view of the lake was beautiful.

Review 3:In the past we have always been above the bar and facing the restaurant on the lake. This area has proved to be extremely noisy.

Review 4:This is the very first time that we have stayed in a room that has been quiet. From now on I will request our room be in this section facing North looking out towards the steamboat.

Review 5:Very old flat screen TV. Very old lights, one of the phones didn't work. And the alarm clock is vintage 80's, USB or anywhere convenient to plug in phone near bed. Room service is very expensive.

Review 6:Great service, very friendly

Review 7:We have stayed in this hotel many times but this will be our last. The rooms have become tired and in bad need of being upgraded. Our air conditioner did not work properly which set the stage for a bad night. Then our night was interrupted by a lot of noisy drunk people in the hallway but being that it was a holiday weekend I guess that's to be expected but not appreciated.

Review 8:Nicely located on the shores of Okanagan Lake. We paid for a room with a view of the lake which was very good. The restaurant is a good place to eat and if you're feeling lucky there is a Casino

Review 9:Price compared to what you got was high. Would be nice to see at least a microwave in standard room. We had to pay for parking which is ridiculous especially after we were in casino and patrons there advised you got free parking. Overall to high priced for what you get and no complimentary breakfast which is common these days.

Review 10:Location was great and it was clean. Staff were fine

Review 11:We stayed on a Saturday night, and the bar crowd in the lobby and outside the doors was not what we're used to at a nice hotel.

Review 12:The hotel is in a good location, close to the wineries. Our room had a beautiful lake view. We always appreciate the pet friendly accommodations.

Review 13:The casino can get noisy at night...and the people hanging outside. Had trouble falling asleep. We went during off season, l can't imagine how noisy it would be during peak season.

Review 14:Really nice place to stay! Comfortable beds.

Review 15:very tired rooms require updating. non-smoking room reeked really bad. changed rooms and the phone and tv didn't work so we had change rooms again.

Review 16:Very lovely and convenient location and great restaurant on the pier. great view from our balcony overlooking the lake.

Review 17:The internet did not work. As a international traveler I was relying on it to stay in touch. Also, desk staff were heard making fun of some of the guests. Bad idea in a service industry.

Review 18:Location, having a balcony

Review 19:The location of the resort is fabulous! The activities that are available are fun and there is lots to choose from. We enjoyed eating in the resort's restaurants as well!

Review 20:The hotel/room is a little dated - no real impact on your stay but is on the old looking side.

Review 21:The staff were lovely - always greater with a smile. The restaurant on the waters edge also served delicious breakfast options - recommending booking if larger than 2ppl as it gets busy.

Review 22:For the difference in price point from the average Penticton motel/hotel, I am not sure it is worth the additional investment. Many other more down home properties include breakfast as well.

Review 23:The location was good, it's a pretty setting. Staff is friendly and tries to be helpful.

Review 24:I found the staff to not be very friendly. It was extremely expensive. It was also extremely noisy in the evening.

Review 25:My daughter and I competed in the Valley First Challenge. The location was ideal.

Review 26:The air conditioning was not user friendly. It was on/off with no way to set the temperature. The balcony looked out on a roof and the dryer vent from the laundry room was right outside the door. If I opened the window for fresh air, I got dryer exhaust. Someone had been smoking in this room.

Review 27:I didn't like very much about my stay.

Review 28:Hotel is getting a little tired and could use a refresh. Not impressed with wifi service. Not exactly high speed!

Review 29:Location was fantastic for getting around Penticton. Great restaurants.

Review 30:The casino lowers the tone of the whole resort. I makes it feel cheap, as it isn't even an upper end casino. I much preferred the hotel before.

Review 31:Great location! The Hood restaurant had amazing food, and lovely staff.

Review 32:We were facing the beach and our room was right under a generator that hummed all night long. needless to say, it kept us up all night which was disappointing. If we were to stay any longer I would have asked for another room.

Review 33:The hotel was great, lots of places to eat.The room was average, very clean.

Review 34:We were disgusted with the spider nests, not webs on the curtains and ceilings in our room. We paid over $250/night for the room and should've got a clean room. When we pointed it out at checkout nothing was done to compensate us. The agent didn't even offer to reimburse us the $10 parking fee for having to clean the room ourselves. The WIFI was also not working in the hotel and they offered no solution other than to go to the closest Starbucks - not helpful when having to deal with a work issue. The dinner at Merganser was less than satisfactory - ordered a halibut rice bowl - described on menu as fish, veg and rice - but bowl came 3/4 full of rice, a very small slice of halibut and a couple of pieces of veg. Why not charge a little more and do it right. Very disappointed - have already told our friends/clients that asked what is was like to stay at the Lakeside. Our next stop was Hester Creek in Oliver and although we had to leave the 2nd night due to the fires, the Manager there bent over backwards to book and pay for accommodations elsewhere, refunded 100% of that night's cost, followed up the next day to ensure we were ok. Penticton Lakeside - you need to learn from Hester Creek how to treat your guests.

Review 35:The Bufflehead Restaurant had great food and was very well priced, we received excellent service. We enjoyed the private beach.

Review 36:Key cards didn't work half the time noisy air conditioning , temp. not controlled evenly, no exercise area , priced high for rooms .Employees were excellent .

Review 37:Veiw of the lake, employees were friendly, helpfull

Review 38:Air conditioning was noisy and very cold. No way to adjust temperature. No where on site to get a fresh coffee or breakfast in the morning.

Review 39:Lakeside view is awesome. Restaurants on site have delicious food. Walking distance to lots of shopping and eating.

Review 40:I didn't like that the wifi was in and out. I thought that the cost of the room was too much as the room was quite average.

Review 41:The staff was very nice. The bed was very comfortable. The view was very nice. We liked the Barking Parrott.

Review 42:Price was exceptionally high, could have done better by just showing up at the front desk, as observed when we checked in and seeing other get a much much lower rate

Review 43:Good supporting eating place

Review 44:The wifi was weak almost all the time.

Review 45:The facilities offered were to a good standard. We enjoyed staying at the hotel and will definitely come back again and again. We would like to thank all the staff that made our stay enjoyable.

Review 46:The first night was a bit noisy from the lounge below. Also took a day to get patio chairs for our balcony( every other room had chairs)

Review 47:View of the lake and mountains. Private beach.

Review 48:There was no fan in the washroom, and the coffee maker should be in the living area vs inside the washroom, for obvious health reasons.

Review 49:The staff at the counter are very warm and helpful. Best service ever.

Review 50:There is very little, if any, soundproofing. Peach Festival was on while we were there and I didn't like the constant noise intrusion. Also, I was not fond of listening, through the walls, to my neighbours phone conversations.

Review 51:Location was okay but there was no direct access to the beach from the hotel.

Review 52:No ice machines on any of the floors were working. The inside of our room was clean but there were toenail clippings on the balcony. The advertising of rooms wias a little off, we booked a room with a lake view and it was more like the view of the parking lot with the glimpse of the lake. That made also was knocking on doors at 8 AM to see who is ready for maid service

Review 53:The 2 on-site restaurants were really good and affordable

Review 54:Smoke alarm went off all night in our room. Called for help and the guy that came to help us was rude! (This was first night) second morning, a man with a blower at 730 am awoke the whole family!!!!

Review 55:Beds very comfy. Lived beach.

Review 56:my wife is not well and an attempt to dine at the Merganser was a disaster because ot the noise of other diners- no fault of the hotel

Review 57:THE WELCOMING AND FRIENDLY STAFF

Review 58:Facility is tired - heating/air conditioning didn't work properly that affected sleeping and overall comfort, key light did not work, sink stopper didn't work.

Review 59:Friendly staff

Review 60:there was a room mistake but they try to work it out as best as they can, I still liked our room just wish we were on the lake side.

Review 61:The bed was amazing and the location it was really close to everything.

Review 62:Some trouble with the air conditioner, the front desk was able to reset it, but it did happen 3 more times and once again the front desk reset. Shower had no hot water off and on. Hotel did compensate us with a $100.00 credit. Parking was $5.00 per day without valet.

Review 63:The beach had wonderful lounge chairs and you could order food and drinks from the closely located trailer, who then order from the restaurant and deliver to you. The main restaurant had incredible King Crab legs at a great price. And Parasailing was awesome. We will go again

Review 64:We were woken up at 8 am one morning by housekeeping staff knocking loudly on our door. Also, no bell service provided at the time we checked in or out.

Review 65:Staff were friendly, and the property is very nice. Clean and well kept, and the location, restaurants and services were great.

Review 66:The hotel was very quiet during the night, mattress and pillows were so comfortable and appeared to be brand new. All the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.

Review 67:They make people from the bar stand out front to have there cigarettes we ask customers have to walk through that. Coming into the hotel the conditioning didn't work having to go outside and leaving the hotel to go and get a coffee or breakfast was crazy

Review 68:Chambermaids were great lady's

Review 69:The only problem was calling the front desk to connect with other patrons at the hotel ... it took so very long. We stayed there as did many guests for my son's wedding and when I tried to reach people it took forever to connect with the front desk to transfer the call.

Review 70:Air conditioner was broken, staff didn't inform us of any events or anything over Canada Day. Front desk staff messed up a couple times on our reservation, and check out dates.

Review 71:Location was great

Review 72:The room needs an update specially the carpet and air condition system.

Review 73:The view is excellent and spectacular site. The staff are friendly but needs training as of customer service.

Review 74:See above

Review 75:We loved the location and private beach. Service and good at the Bufflehead was a bit disappointing, but we'd still come back. Thanks again.

Review 76:The beds were very unconfortable. The staff was not very helpful when asked about services around town. The pool was boring. I would not stay at this hotel again but would go back to eat at the resturants.

Review 77:The resturants were great

Review 78:Property needs a refresh given its status of best place in town and room rates

Review 79:Location is great and staff was excellent. Hooded Meganser restaurant was great with some live music. Fun times

Review 80:One thing that we didn't enjoy is how your front beach is handled. One couple was saving three chairs for the two of them all day. Onegentlemen showed up saying he's a local and was high on somethingand drinking liquor out of a bag. Slept in the recliner and then wastrying to throw up with family and kids sitting there and watching.Other guests have family members from other hotels coming in and takingthe chairs and umbrellas when your guests had nothing to sit on. I thinkyou need to regulate your beach facility for your guests who paid tostay there. I know in Hawaii, you had to sign your room # and last toname to get towels. And you could not save loungers all day with a toweland book on them. If you're not there to sit in it, then you can notsave your seats. There was a couple who left leaving a water bottle andtowel on each chair and 2-1/2 hrs later were still not back. Acouple with a little one showed up looking for a place to sit. So I toldthem to take, that they left 2-1/2 hrs ago and they should not beable to do that. Well they never showed up and the couple thanked me forletting them know. That shouldn't be my job, but I felt bad for themand was mad that some people are taking advantage of the area.

Review 81:The water front view from our room was unbelievable. We've alwayssaid that Penticton is the minnie Hawaii of Canada. Restaurants weregreat and of course the weather was fantastic.

Review 82:The front desk staff were a little light on knowledge of the amenities. The woman that checked us wasn't sure if we had indeed a "handicap friendly" room or if the beach was set up with lawn chairs. All was fine, but until pressed to confirm, she was a little lazy and getting us the necessary info.

Review 83:Loved the location and our room had a lakeside view. We took my elderly parents and the hotel was very accommodating. My parents loved it!!

Review 84:I was not a big fan of the indoor pool. I feel they need to change check in and check out times - make them earlier and later. The Bufflehead restaurant were extremely slow with bringing us our high chair for our child and slow in serving food in general.

Review 85:The view was beautiful from our room. I liked that this resort has everything you need at your footsteps - restaurants, bar, private beach and casino. We didn't have to go very far to enjoy a short getaway in Penticton.

Review 86:Rooms a little run down - a factor of time more than anything. No wine glasses in room - somewhat of an oversight in wine country

Review 87:Great location, Hooded Merganser restaurant

Review 88:Hotel is a little dated and needs some TLC in areas like front lobby carpeting. Room was pretty basic in decor and amenities for the price. We had a room of partial lake and city view that also overlooked a lower level rooftop with large fans that made a lot of noise and woke us up throughout the night.

Review 89:Hotel is located on the water with lovely views and within walking distance to restaurants, public parks, beaches and Saturday market. On site the Hooded Merganser and Barking Parrot restaurants are two of our favourite spots to enjoy a lunch and beverage on the waterfront. It is a short drive to the Naramata bench for wine tasting.

Review 90:When we got there the front desk said they had no record of our reservation. They finally sorted it out after taking my IPhone for a few minutes somewhere in the back? They said they would give us a free upgrade to water view for the wait time. The room was unspectacular to say the least but the view and balcony was nice. No HDTV. There was a ball hockey tournament in town and I'm sure all of the teams were staying on our floor. Both nights we were woken by screaming, cursing, laughing and girls crying in the hallway 3am the first night and 4 am the next. We could hear the yelling and music from the bar plain as day in our room till the bar closed. We got room service in morning and the food was cold. They didn't leave us any cream for our in room coffee. We called down to front desk to get some and they said they would send a bellman to deliver but alas he never came.

Review 91:Location was stellar. View was spectacular. The Barking Parrot bar was nice. Room service food was tasty.

Review 92:On 5th floor but the music from pub below was so loud, and so many screaming drunk kids, and all staff said was "sorry" we forgot to tell you its really loud.

Review 93:We had a beach view room which was on side of hotel. The view was over the air conditioning vents of the roof of the conference centre and then across to the beach of the lake. Was not really what we expected. The rooms are also a bit dated.

Review 94:Good location. On the lake with great views from the bar patio.

Review 95:Loud dance music pumping until 2am kept the entire family awake all night!! Why would you put a family in a room right about the Casino/ bar, with music blasting all night? Not a fun night

Review 96:Nice clean room and great breakfast

Review 97:the elevator door shut on our dog who ended up in the eighth floor and found him bleeding as he ended up hurting his ear. If you travel with your pet or children - pick them up!! This was one of the most terrifying event to ever happen to me with absolutely no sympathy from the front desk. I would never stay here again even with their nice location. Poor poor customer service - really didn't appreciate being met with a snobby front desk agent as I'm holding my bleeding dog.

Review 98:Location

Review 99:The only thing I would say needs attention is a bit of an upgrade to decor in the rooms.

Review 100:Location, friendliness of staff and everything you need right in the hotel.

Review 101:the bed was a little firmer than I like , but it was okay.

Review 102:It's on the edge of the lake, and they have walking areas for people who like to take a walk or stroll .

Review 103:Thought the pool facilities were in a poor state, need total revamping! Bathroom fan would be nice.

Review 104:Beautiful view, quiet, excellent bar and grill! Clean and friendly accommodating staff

Review 105:We usually bring our own bed pillows, as the ones they have are not as comfy as our own, but they're okay in a pinch!

Review 106:We stay at the Lakeside Resort whenever we go to Penticton and we think it's the best lodging in the city. Right on the lake, the setting is serene and yet there's lots happening at the Resort. We live in the states, around 1-1/2 hours away - they always smile at the U.S/ Canadian boarder crossing when I tell them Penticton is our closest "big city".

Review 107:Wasn't impressed with the New Years dinner. We had the special - spaggetti and chicken. That is just what we got . A pile of Spag. with sauce and and Chicken on top. For New Years I though they could of dressed the plate up a bit. Small salad or something else on plate.

Review 108:We were there to go to the casino,so it was great to be able to stay right there. We had a good stay.

Review 109:We didn't like paying for parking. The upside was that it was charged to our bill which meant we didn't have to fight with the parking ticket machine.

Review 110:We enjoyed our comfortable room. The casino was a great place to go. Christmas dinner buffet was awesome. We enjoyed the Hooded Merganser restaurant for breakfast.

Review 111:The pub was not worth a return visit. There was no local wine selection in the middle of wine country. The service was poor and the food was mediocre.

Review 112:We enjoyed our room, the staff, the restaurants and the view.

Review 113:Nothing comes to mind

Review 114:Restaurants, facility, staff and room were great and the idea that if you didn't want housekeeping on certain days you receive a $10 voucher.

Review 115:Room was on 5th floor and we could hear the people talking laughing as they hung out or were leaving the hotel. Till past 2am.

Review 116:5minutes away from convention center

Review 117:Arriving late on a Friday night, the casino crowd was a little loud at first, but did not impact our sleep.

Review 118:Very comfortable room, and very convenient location.

Review 119:Don't like to see the number of kids there with parents. Besides the movies offered and the Internet, what do they do while the parents gamble and drink in the Casino? In summer there is the Beach nearby. Would a Teen Bar with music, a dance area and games be an option? Would need to be a small cover charge and Parents permission and responsibility disclaimer.

Review 120:Everything! The Restaurants are fantastic-especially the ambiance of being out on the water at the Hooded Merganser. Have never been there in the summer tourist season but the Bufflehead and Talking Parrot both look out on Lake Okanogan. The Casino provides some fun in the evening.

Review 121:where to start.....wifi was exceptionally slow and also seemed to affect some TV channels, the AC was terrible and only work intermittently (I was so thankful that I wasn't summer). The doors and walls were paper thin so could hear every conversation that happened in the corridor at all house. Not peaceful to say the least! Really disappointed for the price.

Review 122:the restaurant was open later which was great as we were working. The food was great but the service was terrible. The room itself was clean, the beds and lines were quite comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and the shower pressure was good

Review 123:Room was extremely cold. Had to phone to get some heat. Room was NOT clean Bedding not comfortable Staff not friendly Very pricey for poor accommodation.

Review 124:Not much

Review 125:Noisy rooms, no control over air conditioning!! Had to call front desk and visit it also before they turned it back on. We like a cool room and opening the patio door wasn't an option because we were literally on the roof with all the vents from the kitchens and laundry. All the doors of the rooms bang shut - not great in the middle of the night or early morning. You can also clearly hear people in the hallways talking.

Review 126:Single serve coffee in the room. We had 4 people and it only made 2 cups.

Review 127:The bed was even more comfortable than the one i have at home. The wife didn't want to wake up but i woke up to go to the Casino.

Review 128:Paying for parking at a casino resort....not valet, we did our own parking and pickups. Also the staff took care of the problem once we reported the yappy dog left in a room on our floor, it made for a bad visit. We had been told no dogs had been in our room but my allergies said otherwise and housekeeping did come and clean very thoroughly at our request.

Review 129:On the plus... Location was great, view was wonderful and staff very friendly. He flower gardens were so beautifully done.

Review 130:Feel some upgrading is needed .

Review 131:Access ability to all of the " down town core" and Lake. We are non gamblers so the Casuno is of no interest.

Review 132:1) they tried to charge me 50% more than my booking rate until I showed them my confirmation 2) Beach View actually means parking lot view with a hint of park.

Review 133:No lock safe in the rooms No wine cork screw in the room

Review 134:Adjoining restaurant on the water. Access to pub and casino. Private patio Free wifi Clean room Friendly staff Access able parking Good location

Review 135:We felt that the decor of the guest rooms was dated...nothing special. The room was clean but I didn't like having the coffee maker in the bathroom...not hygenic. Our room was supposed to have a lake view which it did not. The air conditioning in the room was poor...the room was cool but the unit was noisy and cold air was constantly blowing on us which was uncomfortable when the unit was on.

Review 136:All the staff we dealt with at the hotel were great starting with the front desk staff. We were at the hotel for a wedding and found all the staff to be friendly and professional...bartenders, wait staff alike. The setting for the wedding on the west lawn was lovely. The ballroom we used was great and the food was outstanding.

Review 137:Our room was right above the very loud bar( niteclub) No compensation for this. And was not informed upon check-in. Thumping bass guitar and drums until 2 am. Will not stay here ever again!!!!!!

Review 138:The restaurant

Review 139:Wish it included breakfast! Overpriced drinks at cabana.

Review 140:Location. Lakeside balcony. Restaurants, casino and private beach with cabana for drinks! Can walk to everything. Free concerts in park next door during Festival. Worked out in fitness centre.

Review 141:We stayed in a Best Western the night before and the room was nicer and less expensive. The rooms aren't designed for you to stay spend your time in them for a reason. They want you to spend more money at the resort.

Review 142:The location and view were wonderful

Review 143:Had the feel of a Best Western, but with a hefty price tag. Also pool area was dated.

Review 144:The staff was nice, and room was big. Lakeside view was also a plus.
