Reviews for Hotel am Markt

Review 1:This hotel is brilliant! It's in an old town building but has been wonderfully renovated. So well fitted out, and Jurgen was extremely helpful with our stay. I couldn't recommend this hotel any more highly. The town is quaint and has some really interesting history relating to the Rhein. We'll be back.

Review 2:The hotel is right in the centre of this beautiful, old town. Looking out of our bedroom window, we could look at buildings dating back to the 1300's. All the things we wanted to see and do were walking distance. Plus, there was parking available in individual garages for a fee. Local businesses were friendly and the local wine was wonderful.

Review 3:The staff was rude ...very rude and it was 95 stairs to the room which they should really state when a Your booking with them. Out of the 6 places We stayed in Germany it was the only disappointment.

Review 4:The town was beautiful

Review 5:Street was rather noisy as it was garbage collection day and the garbage truck came around 6am

Review 6:Great Location. Very clean rooms. Great breakfast. Reasonable price. Love the town and the parking was convenient.

Review 7:Tried to put me in 3rd floor room after I paid extra for a 1st floor room. Bath is modern but small. Too many steep stairs. Would not stay here again.

Review 8:great location in the heart of Bacharach.

Review 9:Warm and nice atmosphere. Staff gentle and kind. Nice breakfast. Central location for the ones willing to visit the castles on the Rein. Really satisfied of the experience.

Review 10:The manager / owner charged my niece for a double when they quoated a single price

Review 11:The manager/owner charged us for a double when my niece only used a single and did not make it right with us

Review 12:We couldn't get internet to work. Lots of stairs (no elevator) - which seems to be the norm in this country.

Review 13:Rooms, location, breakfast wonderful, staff helpful, nice little town. Would definitely stay again.

Review 14:Staff needs a personality implant. Sour disposition. Grudgingly provides assistance. Wifi poor with slow speeds and inconsistent connection.

Review 15:Secure bike parking. Spacious room. Overall design of hotel. Great location! Very good breakfast.

Review 16:Some stairs if you have heavy bags

Review 17:Excellently comfortable, best town to experience the Rhine without the tourism. Older property beautifully renovated.

Review 18:No bad experience but people should be aware there is some noise from the street and occasional trains. Also no elevstor

Review 19:Very cheerful room. Convenient location. Good breakfast

Review 20:Leaving

Review 21:The decor is beautifully thoughtful. The management and staff were above and beyond ideal. The atmosphere is quaint and comfortably inviting. The breakfast and afternoon tea leaves nothing to be desired. Each day after a lovely bike ride with complimentary bycicles we would reserve the sauna for a private intimate relaxation session followed with champagne in our room. Will always come to this hotel in our future visits.

Review 22:Central location with option of lock up garage near to hotel. Breakfast and evening meal were excellent. Local wines were nice and at a reasonable price.

Review 23:No A/C and it was 99 degrees outside.

Review 24:Breakfast and location!! Wonderful place....Only 2 blocks from train stop. We got off train and rolled out suitcases down street and literally ran right in to the property. Excellent - near water boat tours.

Review 25:We had a 4 room apartment, one room was realy small with no shelf, no wardrobes or cabinets. For one night OK, for more nights would be a problem. Second room was spacious enough.

Review 26:The location is excelent in the heart of Bacharach. Breakfast was tasty and of good selection. Bathroom was freshly renovated and very clean.

Review 27:There isn't a lift, so I am glad we were on the first floor. The owner should take some courses in talking to guests and smiling. Everything seemed like a chore.

Review 28:Well located in a beautiful old town, with a good variation of restaurants within easy walking distance. This hotel is in a lovely old building with lots of wood. We had a nice room with a bath and the breakfast was very complete.

Review 29:The staff was very helpful, we had an early train to catch and they had breakfast ready for us a little earlier than their usual time. Location was great and the town was very charming. The rooms were nicely decorated and had large window to let in the sunlight.

Review 30:Internet was intermittent. No elevator so travel light if you take the apartment which is on the 3rd floor.

Review 31:Perfect location in the middle of town. Huge apartment that was more than enough for a family of 4.

Review 32:the 76 stairs to the room lack of seating in the apartment we had booked Reserving parking was not recommended but on arrival discovered was full.

Review 33:nothing

Review 34:To get to our room in the 4th floor, we had to go up through a huge wood stair... We had some heavy luggage, so we suffered a little.

Review 35:The hotel is located in a nice area. The room was very cozy with a nice view. Large and clean bathroom. The breakfast was good: not a big variety of food, but with good quality. The wi-fi worked with no problems.

Review 36:We stayed on the top floor and the stairs were steep and narrow. Therefore if you staying on the top floor pack lightly.

Review 37:The room was comfortable and overlooked the town. Loved the seating area and the restaurant service was very friendly. The food was very good.

Review 38:Comfortable room and good food. The staff were kind and helpful and were very concerned about my wife's sprained hand from a fall the previous day. They even gave her a bag of ice to place on the swelling.

Review 39:Great location. Staff was very friendly and helpful as we had to call for directions and arrived a few minutes late. Enjoyed breakfast and exploring the town.

Review 40:Rooms to street can be abit noisy with late night revellers. My Tip ...always travel with ear plugs!

Review 41:They are friendly, helpful and generous ie allways free Wi Fi . The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Clean and tidy and the breakfast was yum! Centrally located on the square.

Review 42:Just a few niggles, shower gel not replaced, shower leaked, they turned the heating off so the room was cold when we returned and this then took time to heat up. Restaurant and bar closed early. 9pm

Review 43:Good room, breakfast was excellent, very clean.

Review 44:Staff

Review 45:We were late for breakfast and told we should have read the notice on the door. No need for rudeness by anyone and we were made to feel like we were putting the staff out. Nice hotel but terrible staff ... Pity

Review 46:Everything was great

Review 47:We loved this place, a real fund right on the square in town, reasonable price, great breakfast, and we lived the restaurant for dinner. Just one caveat--no elevator! But it's worth the steps for the wonderful location and warm hosts. They even have parking!

Review 48:Kitchen poorly stocked with basic cooking needs (eg no frying pan; no kettle, no toaster, missing lids for pots)

Review 49:Best European breakfast - included in room rate

Review 50:there is no elevator. parking outside the village at a public place and no supervision

Review 51:The small and beautiful village ( typical German Style) Nice room and bathroom The hotel is an the outside typical german but inside modern and new

Review 52:Don't waste your time having dinner in the restaurant. There are much better restaurants in town.

Review 53:Perfect hotel to stay in to explore the Rhine. The family room was large with a door separating us from the kids. The breakfast was ample and delicious.

Review 54:It has nothing to do with Hotel am Markt, but arriving by train from Koln is a hardship because of the con- struction at the Bacharach train stop. There are so many steps both up and down!

Review 55:Location, helpfulness and friendliness of staff/owners, good breakfast.

Review 56:Germans not the most friendly, or tourist oriented. English speakers and menus hard to find.

Review 57:Town of Bachrach is amazing. Rent a bike and ride down the rhine to see dozens of castles. MId-September weather was the best!

Review 58:No tea or coffee in room.

Review 59:Comfortable hotel with friendly staff and all you would want without being too stuffy. Great position in a beautiful location.

Review 60:Discounted room through booking.com was a 4th floor walk-up so we had to upgrade for additional 10 Euros but room was nice size and comfy

Review 61:Nice central location, Good breakfast

Review 62:staff at check in not so friendly

Review 63:location is great; rooms were comfortable; bathroom was very nice; breakfast was good and staff at breakfast very friendly

Review 64:Very tired linen and towels in need of replacement. No light in stairwell which makes coming back late at night treacherous. Arriving late can be a problem as the checkin times are very strict.

Review 65:Breafast was excellent. Great recently renovated restaurant downstairs. Nice central location.

Review 66:The staff was not very friendly or welcoming. Breakfast was fine but kept running out of items and refilling was slow. Lots of steps to our room so that was a pain and the entire town shuts down at 8 pm! so if you get back late and want to eat, good luck! Nothing is open.

Review 67:The apartment we stayed in was spacious and in a great location in a very cute town.

Review 68:The guy in reception was ok but seemed shy and think his English may have been limited - certainly not a great conversationalist in English. However he helped me with bikes; I was expecting worse from other reviews.

Review 69:Lovely setting in middle of picturesque village. Great buffet breakfast. Large bedroom with modern en suite facilities. Good storage for bikes in lockup garage round corner from hotel.

Review 70:Nothing. The only consideration for people thinking of booking would be that there is no lift and the stairs are harsh but this is not a complaint as the hotel makes this quite clear on the website. We thought it would keep us fit and the views are definitely worth it.

Review 71:Traditional decor and homely feel. Owners were friendly and made us feel comfortable. Great selection at breakfast. Our rooms were on the 4th floor and the views were spectacular.

Review 72:The daily rate on the internet said that breakfast was included. Whenwe checked out we were charged extra for breakfast - even though ourgrandchildren didn't even eat one morning. The apartment had akitchen, but a sign said that usage of the kitchen would cost anextra 40 Euros.

Review 73:We were promised a 2 bedroom apartment, and we received one. Thebathroom was modern and clean. The staff were friendly andaccommodating.

Review 74:The breakfast could be a little bit richer and the staff could be a little more friendly.

Review 75:The hotel has a great location, the room is very comfortable and spacious.

Review 76:Very good size room which was comfortable & perfectly located in the centre of a quiet small town; ideal as a base for exploring this area of the Rhine.

Review 77:grateful that reception was still open when we arrived after 7:30 pm (19:30) -we missed the comment that arrivals need to check in by 6pm (18:00).

Review 95:10am check out / 3PM check in. Though you can pay a small fee for a later check out.

Review 96:Great location in the prettiest village along the Rhine.

Review 97:Everything

Review 98:Lovely room, airy and bright. Surprised to have a balcony with great view of the town.
