Reviews for Hôtel de la Nouvelle Couronne

Review 1:I don't like carpeting and, even less, shabby worn-out carpeting. They should replace with tiles that are imitation wood. It is so much cleaner, easier to clean and durable.

Review 2:This hotel dating from 1574 is a bit worn in certain places (carpeting), but has everything you need and more for a short stop in Morges, a quaint little Swiss town on lake Geneva. Don't go in summer from what I have read as there is no AC and limited ventilation because it is in the old town center. However, my spacious room was fully equipped with kettle for tea & coffee, hair dryer, fridge, safety deposit box, clothing rack & closet, luggage rack, TV with 200 channels on a real desk and a comfy bed with plenty of pillows. Breakfast was quite good with hard-boiled eggs, different types of cheese & bread, croissants, fruit salad, etc. The hotel is only a five-minute walk from the train station, the lake and a paying public parking lot where it is free from 5pm to 10am. I would definitely go back. Note: My room (311) had a rather dismal view of the next building about 6-8 meters away, and because it is an old hotel soundproofing is not the best, but neither of these issues bothered me.

Review 3:Reasonably good value by Swiss standards, location right near the town centre and 5 minutes walk from Lake Geneva. Easy access to other cities via the nearby train station. Comfortable rooms with all necessary facilities.

Review 4:Elevator is kind of old and small. 18chf per person for breakfast a little steep, especially as so many cafe on doorstep

Review 5:I booked this for me parents, both in their 70's. Location in the centre of Morges is perfect for short walks to the lakeside, through town for shopping and plenty of good places to eat.

Review 6:Nothing...

Review 7:Great location in the centre of town, always a pleasure to stay here, fantastic staff...wonderfully 'odd', but in a really good way!

Review 8:no air conditioning in the whole building, impossible to survive during hot weather!! staff was also not properly trained on customer service, as they clearly made comments on my "odd" request when I complained about the air conditioning.. I would appreciate more professionalism and understanding... for 150 CHF/night this is absolutely unacceptable

Review 9:location is fine

Review 10:Nothing to dislike with the hotel but be aware that the full amount is debited from your credit card well in advance of your visit.

Review 11:Centrally situated but quiet with easy walking distance to Lake Geneva and the shops. Very welcoming to my dog. Superbly restored old building which is very comfortable and a superb breakfast.

Review 12:Noisy neighbours, spotted carpet in the room (#106).

Review 13:Easy to find, central location, near to the lake and to the restaurants. Free parking between 17:00-10:00 in a huge car park (5 minutes on foot from the hotel). Friendly and helpful staff. Nicely decorated (though small) room, clean and well-equipped bathroom with shower. Good WiFi connection.

Review 14:Would recommend looking at set up in our room the bed was so close to the desk and window we had to move the desk so we could get into the bed.

Review 15:Great location great staff

Review 16:Reception isn't manned 24 hours.

Review 17:Easy walking distance to the waterfront and restuarants/bars. Free parking in nearby car park. Comfortable and clean.

Review 18:Small quibble - they weren't able to provide an extra set of keys, so if you're travelling as a pair, you can't go in and out of the hotel independently.

Review 19:The room was very clean and had everything I needed for a reasonable price. The hotel is also in a great central location not far from the station. I liked that it was an older hotel with some charm.

Review 20:Das Frühstücksbuffet war um 9:00 Uhr völlig leer gefegt. Man bekam keinen Platz.

Review 21:Betten waren sehr bequem. Personal freundlich.

Review 22:I was surprised not to see nice Swiss cheese at breakfast, like Emmental or Gruyere, but instead the red-wax wrapped Babybel which I would really try to avoid.

Review 23:Nice old building right at the pedestrian street with a very short walk to the lake. Nice room, good bed.

Review 24:I am not a handicapped person but I noticed some steps that a person in a wheel chair will not be able to go from the elevator to the cafeteria and other places.

Review 25:everything was good about this hotel.

Review 26:My room was right next to the breakfast area (although requested a quiet room at the time of the booking), and so mornings were a bit noisy... I am an early bird, so did not get too bothered, but I can see how this can be annoying for someone who wants to sleep past 6 am...

Review 27:Comfy room, spacious, little kitchenette was very functional.

Review 28:Reception desk not always attended. - Room 400: Shower Corner with curtain uncomfortable. Bathroom too small. Radiator was noisy and not maintained. Insufficient clarity (low lights...)

Review 29:Location next to the main market street and very Close to lake Geneva. Good WiFi Connection. Clean.

Review 30:The fact that most of Morges closes at 22.00hrs, but that's the town, not the hotel! Otherwise, nothing negative!

Review 31:Great staff, always friendly and very helpful, excellent location, clean and well appointed rooms (particularly Room 108), very good value for the area.

Review 32:We would have preferred a bath not a shower. The shower was very small. There was no bar or social area, so evenings had to be spent outside the hotel. The duvet was too small for two people sharing!

Review 33:Clean room and clean towels each day. Polite, helpful staff. Good location for everything, walking, shopping, travelling and eating out. Quiet evenings and a good sleep.

Review 34:No dentals, bottled water needs to be taken from vending machine by own, no help.

Review 35:location. Its a value for money kinda hotel with no extra frills/luxuries

Review 36:Breakfast not good. Recommend to eat outside at a restaurant. Curtains does not close properly.

Review 37:Location excellent, bed very comfortable. Staff very friendly and English speaking. Rooms very good size.

Review 38:A colleague complained about the bed being too hard. In at least one room, the shower was a bit small and hard to keep the water from going past the curtain.

Review 39:Easy walk to Morges station and easy walk to restaurants on the same street and by the lake. I have stayed here a few times on business, and came once on vacation with my family of 4. Family room was awesome!

Review 40:The hotel was a relatively short walk from the train station and right on the main pedestrian zone. The old, historical building was thoroughly modernized and equipped with a lift. I had a very large room with a coffee/tea maker and safety box. Bathroom was small but very clean.

Review 41:none

Review 42:very suitable location for what I needed

Review 43:The hotel rooms are quite noisy

Review 44:Noise from outside in the morning - markets set up directly below rooms

Review 45:There was no air conditioning system in the room although it was more than around 32 or 34 degrees ...

Review 46:Lovely staff and beautiful location. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you!

Review 47:No air condition system. The temperature inside the room was so high that was impossible to sleep.

Review 48:nothing,( except the wind0

Review 49:Helpful staff

Review 50:The almost prehistoric wifi

Review 51:Everything except the almost pre-historic wifi

Review 52:nothing

Review 53:helpful staff

Review 54:The shower is a bit (too) small

Review 55:Very practical hotel, with an outstanding bed (room)

Review 56:Breakfast expensive, paying parking

Review 57:Central quiet location, big room, good breakfast

Review 58:terrible noise from the street

Review 59:spacious suite

Review 60:Located in the old city center, right next to farmers market, and waterfront.

Review 61:Bad wi-fi conection.

Review 62:Location, breakfast and minibar with coffee and tea.

Review 63:Price is a little bit higher than other citys. But still reasonable in Morges.

Review 64:staff,location,environment,cleaness,everything!

Review 65:Nothing

Review 66:Everything good

Review 67:Location, facilities, Wi-Fi, etc..

Review 68:The reception staff was very friendly and helpful. Although a bit small, the room was lovely in decor and very comfortable for sleeping. The location on the pretty pedestrian way was great. Wonderful shops and eateries were close to the hotel. Both the train station and the lakefront were within an easy walk as well. We did not eat our breakfast at the hotel.

Review 69:Sometimes the Wi-Fi conexion does not work. The breakfast is really poor in comparison with the money you spent for it.

Review 70:It was located in the center of Morges. Perfect to visit the lake, the castle, the cathedral from there.

Review 71:Shower cubicle was too small and shower head could only be fixed at such an angle that it sprayed water out into the rest of the bathroom

Review 72:Good WiFi in room and rooms were spacious clean and comfortable

Review 73:The breakfast is so so, and coffee is pretty plain.

Review 74:It is really 5 minutes walk from Morge station. And another minutes walk to lake Geneva. The staff is very nice, the reception gave me lots of information how to get to the local vine yard. Also the hotel offer coffee break in the afternoon.

Review 75:Bathroom a bit on the small side. Staff can be more helpful with giving advice to non French speaking guests.

Review 76:Close to the lake and easy access to free parking

Review 77:- Noisy on Saturday mornings (market installation starting 5 am) - ask for inner room- no AC (so... window open + above = no sleep)

Review 78:- Clean- comfortable - well situated (nice small city + lake for morning running)

Review 79:paying for breakfast. I didn't.

Review 80:skylights character old city charm location in downtown Morges close to the train and close to the lake convenient friendly

Review 81:One day our room was not cleaned till 4 pm

Review 82:Location, good matresses, nice view on the pedestrian zone, good restaurants, cafes and shops nearby, adequate parking facility, price/value relations.

Review 83:Hotel does need renovation, has no parking on site and breakfast options could be expanded. No associated restaurant for dinner.

Review 84:Very clean hotel and pleasant / helpful staff. Hotel is located on the main shopping mall.

Review 85:The hotel was nice and clean as one expects. But what I really liked most was the way they treated their guests (us!). Because we had booked a room for two nights. Then, due a change in the plans, we stayed only one night and checked out on around 3 PM, which is way past the standard check out time. I really didn't mind paying for the night either since it was our fault to check out so late. But the hotel staff were very kind and although I insisted, they only charged us for one night. I am really impressed and would like to thank them a lot.

Review 86:Beverages and breakfast are expensive. Shower is quit small. The town of Morges is nothing special, but outside the town you can hike in the hills or aside the lake.

Review 87:Location hotel, nice big bed, quiet room (4th floor). Good advice when I asked for a good restaurant.

Review 88:Only one thing, like I was at Morges at late evening 23:20 (booking isuntil midnight), I get the key of the room and checked in at nextmorning, it was organized well and there wasn't any problems. I payed atnext morning, but after when already was at home, checked my account andin my credit card was reserved payment for 1 night (I stayed twonights)... 2 days left and reservation isn't canceled.

Review 89:Easy to find, close to train station and lake side, nearly market(shopping) street, nice friendly staff, lady spoke in English, enjoyablebreakfast (didn't booked together with hotel, but easily could pay atmorning), clean nice warm room :)

Review 90:The hotel had no intention to built a "friendly relation" with us, as we may need to stay in the hotel many times in the future.

Review 91:Ideal position in the pedestrians streets of Morges, close to the train station.

Review 92:Incorrect invoice charging minibar consumptions that were not made. Customer service not available for questions on invoice after 9pm, only for remote help to check in.

Review 93:If you are looking for a place with a lot of soul, or a romantic feel you might find better places but it it okay.

Review 94:The location in the very centre of Morges is superb, right in the market street, and yet I still had a very quiet room. And my room was nice and suitable spacial for a double room and one occupant. This time staff were excellent throught out. Plus the price this weekened, as it was quiet, was nearing good value for money too.

Review 95:Their check out system

Review 96:The location was fantastically central to Morges, in their main market street, and yet the room was still very quite. Staff were great initially, gave me their most quiet room as requested and got me extra towels no problem. But I was upset to find myself overcharged when I left; they automatically assumed I had had breakfast, and for 2 people, although I was never near their breakfast room and travelled alone which was stated in my requet for a quiet room. I then had to find my email confirmation from you guys, and return to hotel to get them to correct it. It then took them 10 minutes to work out their mistake while they kept asking me questions about it and making me feel that maybe I had done something wrong, despite the price being printed in big letters on the confirmation sheet. That was not a pleasant end to a pleasant stay.

Review 97:hotel is clean but starting to get old. Old carpet all over which doesn't really look hygenic. No restaurant inside the hotel even if there a some in the area. Only public parking. If you arrive in the evening is free until 7AM. Unfortunately you can not pay at that moment for the next morning. So either you get up early or get a fee at 7:30AM already!!!

Review 98:good location, quiet room at the back side

Review 99:The location is great. We were able to walk a few steps to the Saturday market which was very enjoyable. Staff were very helpful although we were not able to use the safe as it was inoperable and nobody available to fix it.

Review 100:The location is a little bit hard to find. Not too much problem if youhave a gps or google map.

Review 101:Price is relatively good compared with hotels in Geneva or Laussane.

Review 102:The hotel is well located between the railway station and the lake. My husband had a fall in the hotel after breakfast. I cannot speak too highly of the concern and attention shown by staff.

Review 103:Hot rooms and no ac, broken window, the promised free bottle of mineralwater in the fridge was not there, some electric plugs were not plugedin. The breackfast buffet was minimalistic.

Review 104:The hotel is in the centre of Morges.

Review 105:The room was tiny, there was barely room for a double bed and a desk. The duvet was so small, that it did not work as a cover for two people, and made sleeping rather complicated.

Review 106:The location was right near the train station, main pedestrian street, and 2 blocks from the lake front. The staff were friendly.

Review 107:Very very basic breakfast. No topup of Bread other than the slice bread. Only Cold breakfast ... Even boiled eggs were cold.

Review 108:Close to the train station and the attractions.

Review 109:Friendly staff, quiet, strategic location, comfortable and great value for money. Breakfast does cost extra but it is worth the CHF 15. Would stay there again!

Review 110:I was very happy with my stay. Of the three hotels I've stayed in my trips to Morges, I would pick this one again. The location is perfect. The room is big and comfortable. Everything was clean. Value was good, especially for the area.

Review 111:A good location set in the very centre of a lovely town. The staff werewelcoming and made the short stay really pleasant. The room was cleanand quiet.

Review 112:I had to carry my suitcase from the lift on the 4th floor some further steps to my room

Review 113:The blackout curtains in the bedroom

Review 114:Great place!

Review 115:Nothing worth noting

Review 116:Very clean Efficient staff Welcome drink and snacks

Review 117:- size of the room, so small - very bad smells of the bathroom - noise in between rooms !!!

Review 118:cleanness of the room and surroundings

Review 119:central location

Review 120:it is hot in the room at night

Review 121:It's expensive

Review 122:The location is very good, near the old street which has weekend market, also near the lake leman.

Review 123:Clean Helpful staff Central location

Review 124:Just two bottles of wine in the mini bar. And glass not for wine

Review 125:Location, room, price

Review 126:clean friendly and centrally located

Review 127:the carpets were stained and dirty, looked like a budget hotel
