Reviews for Oceanside Village Resort

Review 1:It would have been nice to have had some things in the kitchen such as oil to cook with. The heat was a little tricky to control.

Review 2:I liked that it was a self contained unit with full kitchen facilities.

Review 3:I didnt like that they make you strip the bed before leaving. For a classy place it didn't make the guest feel very nice.

Review 4:It was a beautiful cottage with a fully stocked kitchen, and laundry.

Review 5:The only suggestion would be to replace the dining room chairs...they have lost their comfort!

Review 6:It was like staying in a mini house...great decor, close to the beach and the resort where I was having my training. Hubby loved the loft for his meditation, and I loved the kitchen! We recommend the Black Goose Inn down the road for a wonderful traditional English/Irish meal and ambiance!

Review 7:Central location within Vancouver island; close proximity to rathtrevor provincial park; Privacy and convenience (e.g., opportunity too cook your own food) of a cottage; patio; very quiet.

Review 8:The surroundings are nice, but if you are looking for a true nature experience on Vancouver Island I wouldn't jump to suggest the area.

Review 9:The cottage was spectacular. Great comfort, everything you needed incl. sandcastle building kit.

Review 10:we did not like wi-fi. It was almost non- existant, slow, had to reconnect every time you open a new page, terrible. Sofa beda were also very uncomfortable for teenagers. Having a real bed in the loft would have been much better.

Review 11:We liked the location of out house in the complex. We also liked the mini golf nearby. I also loved washer/dryer in the house.

Review 12:Loved our stay. The weather was fantastic. Temps in low to mid 30's so we could have enjoyed our stay with a/c. Our small dog could have used more green space for walking. The wifi connection seemed faded at the best of times. Minor blemishes though, would stay their again.

Review 13:The size and layout of the home. The close proximity to the ocean, mini golf , pool and town of parksville. The helpful staff stood out as well.

Review 14:Our room was not ready at check in and all we got from the desk staff was "I don't know how to apologize" . We had to wait 40 minutes outside the cottage while the staff cleaned inside. And they forgot to replace the toilet paper - leaving no add'l rolls. Several hours later, after an email to the GM and a snarky email back, the staff dropped off passes to Mini golf and free ice cream. To top it off, when our daughters went to use the pool one evening, a group of men in their mid-twenties were drinking and carousing in the pool area. My daughters didn't feel safe and left. And the following morning we were woken up at 543am by the alarm in the master bedroom going off - again something the staff did not check. Which makes me wonder - if the previous occupants were up that early, why did it taken until 440pm to clean the room.

Review 15:When we booked the room, the resort called us and suggested a better room configuration for our needs. Very nice. The cottage was new, with beautiful finishes and furnishings. The WiFi was superb.

Review 16:Excellent kayaking and beach combing i the Bay. Loved bird watching in Rathtrevor park. Magnificent old Douglas fir forest

Review 17:clean, lots of space, great lay out of the cottage and very nicely decorated. Well supplied kitchen, nice short walk to beach, good nearby cafe and pool.

Review 18:Had small problem with key not working to our cottage one night otherwise it was great.

Review 19:jacuzzi tub was awesome and having your little cottage with separate kitchen and living room with fireplace was fantastic. will be hard to stay in regular hotel room now

Review 20:thought the bed was a little small, double and a little hard

Review 21:well laid out design, very comfortable and cozy. in among other cabins but very quiet and feeling of isolation

Review 22:No ocean view from our unit.

Review 23:The well appointed cottage with top of the line furnishings & kitchen equiptment. Privacy deck & BBQ. The best was we didn't have to turn lights on during the day as most vacationers had to in other resorts on Resort Drive. Showed off our unit to several friends who were very impressed.& will recommend it to anyone travelling to Parksville,BC

Review 24:Not able to check out before 8:30 am. Left cabin key with custodian staff. Remember, some people are early risers and/or want to catch an early ferry.

Review 25:The cabin was awesome. All kitchen utensils, dishes, pots and small appliances were available in this cabin. It was comfortable, restful and felt like a home away from home. Thank you for making this affordable and a wonderful place to visit. The ocean is just minutes away and that ocean air is so wonderful. Wish we could have stayed longer. Maybe next time!

Review 26:Staff was rude regarding noise complaint and we weren't notified until the next day. Would have been better to be informed when the complaint happened as we would have shut it down. Threatened that we would be asked to leave if it happened again. Very rude in communicating the complaint.

Review 27:Beautiful accommodation. A little expensive but great for a group of friends. It is a family resort and we did get some complaints as we were there for a wedding and we went late a couple nights. Really close to Ratthtrevor park and it was nice to have the Cafe in the complex for a morning coffee.

Review 28:No air conditioning only fans so it was a little hot. Long walk to beach. Long walk to town or short drive.

Review 29:Lots of room, nice, comfortable, mini golf next door. Great kitchen supplies, variety of pots and pans etc. Glad I brought my BBQ tools and garlic press though.

Review 30:Pool and hot tub could use some updating and a bit more maintenance. Hot tub jets weren't working one night (several people tried to turn them on) and one day there seemed to be quite a lot of hair in the pool. Pool deck is extremely slippery.

Review 31:Great little cabins - modern, clean and nicely located. Front office staff members were super - esp Victoria.

Review 32:We had a couple of minor issues but they were resolved immediately. We liked the fact that it was very quiet at night and we slept very well. The accomodations were very nice.

Review 33:Unfortunately construction of the new cottages had to be on-going, but they tried to be considerate...... nobody's fault.

Review 34:The cottage was wonderful, the peace and quiet much appreciated, and the daily visits from the woodpeckers were lovely.

Review 35:- for the $ I paid, I didn't like the fact there was no cleaning at all for the week I stayed. I hate to remove my own garbage and then take off all bedding once I left, plus wash all dishes, etc. I wasn't paying like I was staying in a youth hostel. I am paying hotel prices and then no service. - I had to check out a few days early because I got really sick and I made the staff aware that was the reason I was leaving. Still.... no refund policy! So I was charged for all the nights I could not stay there.

Review 36:- nice cabins - spacious

Review 37:The whole experience was wonderful

Review 38:Tastefully decorated. Fully equipped kitchen, living room, even a washer and dryer. Enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub on site as well.

Review 39:Extremely comfortable, felt just like home.

Review 40:Room was not ready at requested time.

Review 41:unit was great.

Review 42:All the rules

Review 43:Architecture of the cottage. Nice layout in property. Lots of space

Review 44:We had to strip our own beds and empty the dishwasher. I think for the price we paid that should have been included.

Review 45:Nothing

Review 46:Location Facilities Pool BBQ area Comfort

Review 47:Pool was a bit dirty We found lots of hair in the pool hit runways cleaned when we were there.

Review 48:Spacious layout Everything needed in cottage

Review 49:Very sporadic wifi

Review 50:Location. Location. Location.

Review 51:Enjoyed our stay very much. Great location and facilities excellent.

Review 52:Sofas uncomfortable - hideabed poor, pillows awful

Review 53:Very nice place -

Review 54:Didn't have any bad experience

Review 55:I liked that everything is accessible to where we want to go and do.

Review 56:Home from home . Comfort with nothing left out. Fabulous.

Review 57:nothing

Review 58:Loads of room at an excellent price. 2 bedrooms and a loft, and a full kitchen so it is great for families or groups.

Review 59:Stripping the bed. Heavy and scratched plates.

Review 60:Functionally well designed cute looking cottage

Review 61:The toilet was not clean.

Review 62:There was nothing we disliked.

Review 63:Everything about our visit.

Review 64:Closer to the beach would have been nice ....but no worries...not really a problem

Review 65:everything!

Review 66:It feels like we were at our own home. Very comfortable with good amenities.

Review 67:No negatives.

Review 68:The Cypress cottage was well appointed and comfortable, with a very large and private deck. The pool on- site and mini-golf are nice amenities. Would definitely recommend this resort.

Review 69:The barbecue was not working, and was filthy. The cottage also smelled like cigarette smoke when we first arrived.

Review 70:The location and the style of the cottage.

Review 71:Nothing was open!!! The tea house, restaurant, and I believe the yogastudio, were all closed with no mention of this on the website.Incredibly disappointing and misleading. The tub in my suite didn'thold water. Also super disappointing. I won't stay there again.I'd rather spend a few extra $$ and stay just down the road.

Review 72:The suite was clean and had a firplace which made it extra comfy.

Review 73:Limited recycling and no compost / green bin service. The main floor being entirely tiled except bedrooms makes it feel cold and any sound tends to echo. It could use a big area rug in the living room to add a bit more coziness on cold winter nights.

Review 74:Stand alone self contained homes = the ultimate noise buffering from neighbours. Parking right outside your door makes unloading the groceries into the kitchen a breeze. You get your own barbecue and back deck/back yard. Steps from the beach and adjacent to Rathtrevor Provincial Park's trails.

Review 75:Absolutely everything about the resort! I can't wait to return in the near future. .. Would like to treat my sister to a weekend here. She'd feel she was in Heaven!

Review 76:would have liked more info about recycling program.. but I did not ask so can't fault the staff.

Review 77:Cottage was incredible; quiet and peaceful; great amenities; would be great for a longer stay. want to come back!!!

Review 78:Noisy- we would not choose a unit beside the old Island Hwy Again. Dish soap and dishwasher powder and supplies SHOULD come with the Unit. The BBQ was extremely dirty..but there were no supplies on hand for Guests to clean them.

Review 79:Comfortable, spacious, great location. Nicely decorated. Location to town and Beach.

Review 80:We only stayed for a couple of nights, it was a perfect quiet location for us. The cottage was to a high standard and only a short drive drive into the town and to the beach.

Review 81:I enjoyed my stay in the spacious cottage. It was very clean and well equipped (kitchen, laundry, living room with sofa and TV). It's great for longer stays, you really feel like home. The location close to the beach is also ideal.

Review 82:Their were a few broken things when we arrived and never got attended to. Also dirty sheets on hide a bed and dirty underneath.

Review 83:The cottage was spacious and bright, well stocked and comfortable for 6 people. The pool was great!

Review 84:Weather

Review 85:Location, people, decor

Review 86:Loved how quiet it was. Cottage was lovely, clean and well appointed.

Review 87:no ocean view but was a short walk to the water.

Review 88:Master bed was too soft

Review 89:Location, size, cleanliness, kitchen facilities, Parksville, Vancouver Island

Review 90:Not many things to do if weather does not help.....

Review 91:House was nice and had everything we could need.

Review 92:Not near beach

Review 93:Compact Clean Well organised Complete

Review 94:we are going to go and stay more nights

Review 95:new - clean - modern - very well equipped - easy to get to - close to town - Family annual golf tournament

Review 96:Very good.

Review 97:lack of air conditioning. Very uncomfortable for the couple sleeping in the loft.

Review 98:peace and quiet location.

Review 99:quiet, very clean swimming pool, very well equipped cottage and nicely decorated, close to shopping and the beaches.
