Reviews for Gran Hotel Gervasoni Hotel Boutique

Review 1:The only negative for me is that to access WiFi, I had to do it in the lobby.

Review 2:The location was perfect On top and front of a hill, there is a breathtaking, sweeping view of the wide, horse-shoe shaped bay with it's inviting tranquil water and beautiful beaches. All around it are quiet little streets with quaint shops and restaurants. There is a funicular station about half a block away that offers a quick and efficient means to get downtown below.

Review 3:Not very focused on service. Breakfast full of people with not a very efficient service. Coffee was terrible and when we told them, nobody took action. Nearby there is a great coffee shop! We had to go there.

Review 4:Location and restaurant pasta E vino underneath the hotel

Review 5:No parking available, and impossible to park in the area. We have to park 20min walking distance.

Review 6:Great location and view of the bay. Lovely decoration and terrace.

Review 7:It is very noisy and cramped. Our room was so small we hardly had room to put our bags down. I don't think I slept more than 4 hours a night for the noise.

Review 8:The building itself is beautiful and its location is ideal. The staff was always helpful and kind. The food and cocktails were pretty good.

Review 9:The very comfortable rooms, helpful staff and a fantastic, safe location of the Gran Hotel Gervasoni made our stay in Valparaiso a real treat. The live music in the evening on the terrace and the food in the restaurant on the floor below also helped make the last days of our holiday in Chile very special.

Review 10:The shower was so small it was really hard to get in and out. I don't know how some larger people would manage.

Review 11:We loved the character of this hotel. the furnishings and old world appearance was charming. The location was great with views, local artisans and restaurants near by.

Review 12:Boutique hotel with charm and history. In the middle of where you want to be. 20 metres from funicular. Great views from rooms and restaurant. Great seafood restaurant behind hotel. Very clean tidy and maintained. Helpful staff.Stay here if you can.

Review 13:The Hotel was very difficult to find. From Santiago airport our driver must have asked at least 20 people where the Hotel and the street that it was on was located.

Review 14:The location was centrally located for our purposes. Upon completion of our stay we were then getting onto a cruise ship with the terminal less than two miles away.

Review 15:We had one bad experience when walking not far from the hotel. My husband had his pocket picked. Luckily he only lost some cash and not his passport. It happens in Valparaiso and had nothing to do with the hotel. Just be cautious and don't carry any valuables.

Review 16:The staff were most helpful in recommending the best way to get to Santiago. We took a taxi from the hotel to the bus station and again when we arrived in Santiago to our hotel. It cost us only $8 instead of $200 for a taxi all the way. The bus was very new and comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone even if you have heavy bags.

Review 17:Extreamly bad cleaning of the rooms! carpet floor was not vacuumed, bed linen changed only after request/ очень плохая уборка номеров, были у друзей в соседнем отеле ( бутик 17) - он намного чище за те же деньги. Ковролин с мусором ,белье забыли поменять после предыдущих постояльцев , пришлось просить, правда, реагируют быстро.

Review 18:Location and friendly staff, changed unready room for superior and very fast responded requests. Nice breakfast ./ расположение и персонал, который старался и оперативно реагировал на наши просьбы и замечания

Review 19:Small rooms with small beds. Noisy at night due to dogs barking outside and patrons at the hotel restaurant. Wifi worked but only from lobby.

Review 20:Terrific location with great view next to Escalator Concepcion and the square with interesting vendors and a museum. Fun and colorful neighborhood to explore--lots of little boutiques. Guillermo at the front desk was the most helpful staff person we have ever encountered. Breakfast included--glassed in breakfast area and nice terrace with great views. In old house with character.

Review 21:The walls are paperthin, the breakfast "service" is very friendly but often lacking basics, incomprehensible that the front desk blocks the door and makes entrance very difficult, strange ratio between room size (very small) and bathroom size (very large) - yet the small room is filled with unusable furniture and there's nowhere to put one's suitcases.

Review 22:The location and the views are just fabulous

Review 23:WiFi was the only issue, kept dropping out, but was able to log into the restaurant (on the floor below us) where we ate the previous night.

Review 24:Very close the funicular and market. Lovely friendly staff. A wow moment as we entered our room and opened the balcony to views of the harbour. The spiral staircase to the bathroom. Quality restaurants within metres of the back door.

Review 25:The restaurant closes a little early and it doesn't have simple meals for kids.

Review 26:It's a historic building with high ceilings. The room was great with a modern bathroom. The hotel has a restaurant with a great view. The hotel staff was great.

Review 27:enjoyed our stay there very much!

Review 28:great location and view friendly, helpful staff lovely old building with lots of character good buffet breakfast and good restaurant

Review 29:Very noisy wooden floors and stairs Hotel staff started cleaning up from a party at 2 am! Extremely disturbing and noisy.

Review 30:Very good location Friendly staff at reception

Review 31:wifi was a little spotty in the rooms, but fine in reception; my bed was starting to get a bit tired

Review 32:great location, nice views, good breakfast selection, good value

Review 33:Wifi wasn't working Very loud party just out of the hotel prevented us to sleep (I can't say if this is a normal occurrence or we were just unlucky) Stairs inside the hotel are dangerously steep

Review 34:Position, breakfast

Review 35:There is no elevator and the stairs are very steep at this grand old hotel so if you have a disability that limits your mobility you should consider another hotel

Review 36:I loved that they have tried to keep this 1870 mansion in it's old tradition...the staff were very polite and extremely helpful...somehow we managed to get room #2 at the top which overlooked the entire harbour of Valaparisa!!! A beautiful city..

Review 37:noise from disco on Friday night

Review 38:Beautiful building, lovely tiled terrace. Welcome drink on terrace in the evening, relaxed atmosphere. friendly staff. Good bedroom and bathroom

Review 39:room could need some renovation

Review 40:excellent location very friendly staff

Review 41:room smallish

Review 42:Great staff and atmosphere

Review 43:tiny bathroom room8

Review 44:High ceilings and wonderful atmosphere Special hotel.

Review 45:Hot water took a long time to come in.

Review 46:The staff was very helpful

Review 47:Wifi was sporadic, but Guillermo did what was necessary to get it right.

Review 48:Location, view, access by funicular.

Review 49:Area, equipment, friendly staff

Review 50:The hotel's charm. The helpfull reception desk. The LOCATION. The VIEW.

Review 51:Lack of elevator.

Review 52:Ambience, preserved Architecture and location. Restaurant is very good.

Review 53:We had a great room with a super view over harbour. The breakfast was good. The service was friendly.

Review 54:Even though we enjoyed the hotel and can appreciate the decor of the hotel, the furniture and the carpet did not look very clean.

Review 55:We enjoyed the location as it was close to the funicular and the most amazing restaurants (including the hotel's restaurant), galleries and shops. The staff was amazing. They were able to arrange for a private tour of Valparaiso, laundry services and great suggestions for dinners.

Review 56:Bad wireless. Poor signal and unstable. Bathroom supplies marginal. The fact that the restaurant is closed is a minus. Shower splashing everywhere. No good working table-desk in the room and no chairs to sit by the table. Not a real boutique yet.

Review 57:The staff was extremely nice, yet inexperienced. The building a jewl. Needing update. The terrace where breakfast was served a wonderful trip to the glorious epoque of the 20's. The views of the Pacific from the room and form terrace breathtaking.

Review 58:Don't plan to drive in Valparaiso. The streets are narrow and mostly one way with little parking. We ended up parking our car by the hotel and leaving it parked until we left for Santiago.

Review 59:beautiful hotel, great service, helpful staff gave us good recommendations for restaurants, how to get around etc. Lovely buffet breakfast every morning

Review 60:Parking can be problematic if you're driving.

Review 61:Charming little hotel located in the heart of the old town. Spacious clean room with a view over the ocean, hearty breakfast and friendly staff.

Review 62:Put in smelly dark room at the back before being moved after complaining.

Review 63:Great position right at the heart of the best area. lovely character decor. Excellent help at the desk. Moved to an much better room when requested.

Review 64:- there is no restaurant service on any Sunday evening - (there is no hotel brochure in rooms and reception staff not very helpful - so you are just expected to know! - a bit frustrating if you are planning to eat in the hotel!) - our room was very small and crowded with furniture - not the boutique hotel style that we had imagined - breakfast varied - sometimes it was buffet style which was good - other days items which you may not want were already laid out on the tables - so you then had to track down a member of staff to get stuff taken away and have what you actually want brought to you it is a quirky hotel that didn't gel with us

Review 65:location

Review 66:Breakfast was just ok, not what we had hoped for. We thought that the outdoor patio upstairs could have been a bit cleaner and the view from there of old, dirty and unkept buildings in the area surrounding the hotel take away from overall experience. The house is beautiful but the area where it's located is dirty, there is trash everywhere, walls and buildings have been vandalized and covered in graffiti, or they have just been allowed to go into disrepair. Very sad to see otherwise beautiful classic antique buildings completely neglected.

Review 67:Very friendly and helpful staff. Due to an unexpected malfunction in the construction area near the hotel on our last night, the city had shut off the water supply to the entire area. Nothing the hotel could do. And yet, the owner bent over backwards to help us feel more comfortable. She truly cared about our comfort and did her best to make us feel the inconvenience as little as possible. We appreciated very much how nice and helpful they were.

Review 68:Staircase was extremely steep! Only on fire exit via this steep staircase! The house is in wood and charming but can also be a firetrap! Old dirt! We paid for a room with sea views. We got it, if I stood om my toes, the window was about 50 x 50 cm.

Review 69:Poor/no Wi-Fi connection, loss of water for about 12 hours one night due to local area water main break, floor on terrace was not clean, challenging to arrive by car as the narrow cobblestone roads are difficult to identify and navigate.

Review 70:Views, very nice owner and staff, great food and wine, old world charm of the hotel, and meeting other guests

Review 71:Small bathroom but all adequate.

Review 72:Lovely old building so quirky with lovely antique furniture in places. Good breakfast. Interesting area in old part of Valparaiso. Look out for street art. Good restaurant, in house and nearby.

Review 73:I was on the top floor and the only available staircase was so steep I was anxious every time I came downstairs - very challenging if you have luggage or lots to carry (or if you're wearing heels!) Also during the day, lots of tourists congregate outside the hotel as it's right on the Paseo Gervasoni, a major viewpoint for Valparaiso sightseers. Not necessarily a downside but it can get quite crowded right out in front of the hotel.

Review 74:Gran Hotel Gervasoni was a lovely boutique hotel situated atop the Cerro Concepcion in Valparaiso. The views were stunning and the area was full of great restaurants, art galleries and shopping. The staff, especially Alexandra, were incredibly helpful and considerate. Rooms were small but immaculate, the bathrooms were spacious and updated and the beds were quite comfortable. I had a drink in the wine cellar and lunch on the patio as well as breakfast every morning I was there - great food and great views! Highly recommend this hotel.

Review 75:Stairs quite steep and narrow.

Review 76:breakfast was quite good and staff very helpful when making additional reservations for surrounding wineries. Staff also assisted in parking the car on the street when there were no open, parking spots.

Review 77:Bad hotel, is not recommended. The hotel is a fire trap with no escape routes from the first floor. The hotel is not suitable for disabled and families with children. Boring breakfast buffet. Untrustworthy and untruthful hotel manager.

Review 78:very good location.

Review 79:The street constructions

Review 80:The location in a historical district

Review 81:Long check in/out procedure.

Review 82:Old style renovated hotel. Amazing views and great location in Cerro Conception. Good breakfast.

Review 83:Our room was dark on the lowest level

Review 84:Location, staff, food

Review 85:Excellent location in historic section of Valparaiso. Quaint and charming.

Review 86:excellent location very good restaurant

Review 87:location, view

Review 88:Staff was very outgoing and helpful from the point of needing help parking, watching our bags and giving us extra info!

Review 89:convenient location. wish we could have spent more time

Review 90:The position near the Town Centre The wooden interior

Review 91:breakfast, can be cleaner, not easy to find

Review 92:location, staff, parking

Review 93:Great location, clean, close to everything
