Reviews for Hotel Kronenhof
Review 1:The shower was not optimal, water came out in different directions
Review 2:Nice room on the top floor with view. Staff was super kind and was given drink vouchers for the bar as well as a little gift when checking out. Such things are small details that leave a nice feeling about the place. I also liked breakfast
Review 3:There was only one towel for two people. The fruit at breakfast was way past its prime. It seemed they were operating on a very tight budget.
Review 4:Location was great.
Review 5:Excellent location with a fabulous breakfast. The relaxation room was an unexpected bonus for the spa facilities available. The room was very clean and modern.
Review 6:It seemed as tho most restaurants within a 15min walk only served itallian . Don't get me wrong, I love Italian, I was just hoping for more variety.
Review 7:My room was on the top floor w/ an amazing view of Munot Fortress (less than 300m away). The room, a comfort double, was very comfortable and had a small but very usable veranda w/ two chairs and a small table. Great spot to relax and start the mornings. Located in the center of the Altstadt, close to shopping and many nice restaurants. For individuals interested in fine watches, the IWC museum and boutique is less than a 10min walk away. The hotel bar and restaurant was fantastic ! Great menu and decent selection of local beer, wine and spirits.
Review 8:In the room did not have coffee maker.
Review 9:Excellent location, very nice and kind staff, clean ,very well breakfast which was included.very relaxing sunna high speed Internet.
Review 10:Unusually hot conditions made room uncomfortably warm day & night. I believe the fire escape system to be totally inadequate.three star is about right
Review 11:Breakfast excellent
Review 12:It was very hot and the hotel did nothave air conditioning. Only a small fan which was not adequate
Review 13:Great position, pleasant staff, easy to get around. Walking distance to Rhein river.
Review 14:Not the hotel's fault, but, if one stays here during a time of very hot weather = it is key to have a room on the backside (church side) of the hotel. As there is no Air conditioning, even having the complimentary fan is not enough to provide comfortable sleeping conditions.
Review 15:The toom is very average, the bathroom is extremely small and simple and the bed is very bad. For 200€ you can have much better!!!
Review 16:The breakfast and location
Review 17:Reception staff are fine not overly friendly or explaining tips about the location or hot spots. No map offered
Review 18:The single room is nice, room was clean, with enough plugs and a plug by the bed which is not always provided in a hotel.Breakfast was good.WIFI very good. Location is very good. Locally Rhine falls is well worth seeing.
Review 19:Parking is a hassle and can get expensive during the week days (free Saturdays after 4pm and Sundays all day). Ticket good for two hours at a time. There are a couple of bars/clubs nearby and drunk, loud people were very noisy at 2-3 am. Closing the balcony doors solved the problem. Church bell in the morning may bother some people. Again, closing the balcony door solved the problem for us.
Review 20:We liked everything about this hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, not only to us, but we noticed how they went out of their way to help the need of other guests too (pets, small kids, etc.) The room was nice, comfortable and clean and, being on the 4th floor, had a beautiful view of the town, bell tower and the fort. Close to the pedestrian part of town and walking distance from the train station.
Review 21:There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and no room service.
Review 22:We had a modern room on the fourth floor with a small balcony and views to the Munot and church which made our stay a very special experience. Excellent breakfast.
Review 23:The church is absolutely opposite to the front of the hotel and the bells chime every 15 minutes through the day, although the do not chime through the night they start quite early in the morning
Review 24:The hotel is positioned centrally in the old town part of Schaffhausen and there are a number of restaurants in the locality in easy walking distance. The railway station is also within an easy walk.
Review 25:There was annoying nighttime noise caused by party-people celebrating their weekend (thursday - sunday) in front of the hotel. According to the hotel staff this is an ongoing problem, however it is beyond their control resp.their responsibility. The authorities of Schaffhausen are informed already.
Review 26:EXCELLENT restaurant, very nice location in the older part of the city. No traffic in the evening.
Review 27:room in need of maintance (e.g. door painiting - reference to room 410); special breakfast only after 9.30; proximity to church bell thatrings every 15 minutes
Review 28:restaurant in the hotel; free wi-fi; included breakfast, staff speaks English
Review 29:I had an issue with the bells but that is part of the charm. They do supply earplugs for sleeping.
Review 30:Location, charming room w/balcony, stunning view, modern decor, restaurant had fabulous food, great breakfast
Review 31:I only stayed for one night - arrived by boat and departed by train. The hotel is in a good location. Has an elevator. The breakfast was good. There is also a nice restaurant/bar in the platz in front. The staff was very friendly & helpful too especially when I asked about how to best get to Rhein falls, store luggage and get to Zurich in the same day. The castle is also in sight from the front of the hotel. A nice, clean and efficient hotel
Review 32:Guests in the suite above us (5th floor) were very noisy, stomping across the floor, banging about until 2am - mentioned this to reception that they should point out to guests staying in this suite that they should have some consideration for others!
Review 33:Great location, friendly staff, good food, nice room.
Review 34:Hotel seems to be old (visible in elevator, bathroom fixtures).
Review 35:Location is in middle of historic center. Parking was not a problem. Helpful staff. Spa is very nice and apparently quite new.
Review 36:Relatively expensive compared to other hotels we have been to.
Review 37:Friendly reception, clean, central location in nice old town, restaurant on site, Rhine falls nearby
Review 38:parking
Review 39:close to center
Review 40:Shower temperature up and down in seconds
Review 41:Excellent service and friendly staff, central location
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:The staff, very helpful
Review 44:Friendly staff, fantastic view from my room
Review 45:Friendly Front
Review 46:Breakfast spread was limited
Review 47:Location, Free fast wi-fi, Spa
Review 48:No air condition and very hot. Beds were hard with scratchy sheets.
Review 49:Goog location. Near shopping and sights.
Review 50:The restaurant is a very good one.
Review 51:Rooms a bit old fashioned, can be noisy, breakfast is just ok.
Review 52:Location and historical building
Review 53:Smallness of bathroom
Review 54:The helpfulness of the staff
Review 55:the chime of the church bell
Review 56:Staff is very helpful
Review 57:Location
Review 58:Everything was perfect for there stars.
Review 59:They did nice breakfast bag as we had to leave so early. Sauna was good.
Review 60:The location for the Town is good with lots to see and do. The staff were helpful and the room was clean.
Review 61:Poor wifi...disconnect frequently and slow speed when available. Small room (single).
Review 62:Located 200m from train station. Good breakfast. Quite place.
Review 63:Nothing to dislike
Review 64:Location Friendly staff lovely bar and choice of 2 restaurants in hotel
Review 65:Breakfast a little lacking in options
Review 66:Lovely hotel in a lovely part of a lovely town.
Review 67:Within 10 minutes walk from the station. The staffs are friendly and attentive. Nice breakfast. Great view (munot and the church)from the window.
Review 68:nothing
Review 69:near station
Review 70:Church bells ringing next to hotel early in the morning. High price.
Review 71:There was a fire alarm in the middle of the night for no reason. I couldn't sleep after then.
Review 72:location, nice staff
Review 73:Good location, friendly staff and nice breakfast room.
Review 74:friendly staff great location good food
Review 75:What not to like, location, service, staff are all excellent.
Review 76:Lack of free wifi is a problem these days as everyone loves their conductivity. Also a fan in the room would be good so when closing the window to keep traffic noise you don't suffocate.
Review 77:Great staff who strive to make your stay a pleasant one.
Review 78:Very friendly staff. I put a note on the booking saying that we were travelling with a young child and a cot was in the room waiting for us (free of charge). Had a very good time here and will come back.
Review 79:The rooms are a bit dated and the table lamp had a short in it.
Review 80:This was a real surprise. The location is ideal; the price for Switzerland was surprisingly low. The value is enormous. Great place, nice people, good bar and excellent food. Highly recommended.
Review 81:The buffet breakfast could have had more variety.
Review 82:The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room we stayed in was nice and large with an outdoor balcony, and the location was perfect, in old town right next to one of the town's churches and the main walkplatz.
Review 83:Due to the clock we had to close the window at night, the chimes are pretty loud but with the closed window no problem, though a little stuffy. The room is pretty small, ok for 1 or 2 nights but not for a longer stay.
Review 84:The hotel is in the historical part of the town, pleasant view from the window upon an old square and clock tower. It takes just 3 min to reach the old fortress and 5 min to the railway and bus station.
Review 85:The breakfast was very simple. I believe that they can upgrade and improve the food that they offer in the breakfast.
Review 86:Very nice room. Close to the city center. Great dinner in the hotel's restaurant.
Review 87:Limited restaurant menu - resolved this by eating out.
Review 88:Enjoyed location in old part of Schaffhausen. Brilliant atmosphere with castle, museum, shops, cafés, restaurants all set in historic buildings close. Access to Rhein and 3km walk on both sides of river to impressive Rhein falls. Rail and bus stations close with excellent services.
Review 89:Coffee wasn't served at breakfast so you were forever getting up and down and queuing for the coffee machine or getting your food. However there was proper table linen and the breakfast room was very comfortably and tastefully furnished. Parking tricky but staff helped as much as possible and after all it is a town centre location.
Review 90:What a lovely hotel, which belied its 3 stars. We were lucky enough to have a room overlooking the castle view and although the room wasn't luxury, it was comfortable. There is a smart bar where you can watch people arriving for the concerts in the church next door and the location of the hotel is superb. We didn't eat there, but breakfast was okay.
Review 91:The clock tower outside my room chimed throughout the night - not great when you need a clear head for business meetings! Also the room was very warm - I couldn't spot any air conditioning.
Review 92:Excellent breakfast buffet. Central location and my room had a lovely view of the fort which is within easy walking distance from the hotel. Spa and relaxation area were a welcome surprise.
Review 93:The hotel has a perfect location, in the beautiful old part of the city, within a short walking distance from the train station. The reception was very friendly and efficient. Throughout my stay the staff was quite helpful and friendly. I would certainly recommend the hotel to friends and family.
Review 94:For the money, it was a disappointment. Our room was so tiny we could hardly move in it and the bathroom was the same. The noise outside into the square was disturbing and cost us much needed sleep.
Review 95:I have read a few negative reviews concerning parking at the hotel andalthough the parking is not free and you have to be lucky to find aspece close to the hotel during the day, there are two supermarket carparks within a 5 minute walk of the hotel. You will have the sameproblem wherever you stay in Schaffhausen and there are always parkingplaces later at night on the car park in front of the hotel to bringyour vehicle closer for an early start the next day.
Review 96:I have stayed at the Kronenhof on several occasions with my 8 year olddaughter. The hotel is well located within a 5 minute walk to the trainstation, the staff are very friendly and helpful and there is anexcellent selection of what to eat and the the choice between two stylesof restaurant. It is always nice to be recognized as a returning guestand that's the case at the Kronenhof.
Review 97:It was hot in the room and I didn't find the possibility to adjustthe temperature. The TV was very small and had no remote control.
Review 98:The Internet was free of charge and had an excellent speed. Although thechoice for breakfast was limited, everything served was great in termsof taste and freshness.
Review 99:Had a single room, so could be a bit small for longer stays, but finefor a night or 2. I don't tend to pay much for hotel rooms when Itravel for leisure as I'm more interested in what's outside thehotel, so in my view it was quite expensive (just over £100 for 1 nightin a single room incl breakfast), but having stayed at other hotels inthe town before, it was quite a good price/average for the area. Noreal bad points.
Review 100:Comfy room, not too near any noisy bells like other hotels in the town.Single room, but bigger than standard single bed. Simple but decentbuffet breakfast. Friendly staff. Good location (centre of old town, near train station, don't know what you would do about parking?).Will stay again and will try the spa next time - free access to saunaetc for hotel guests.
Review 101:I stay regularly at the Kronenhof when visiting my 8 year old daughterin Schaffhausen. Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable rooms and welllocated close to the train station.
