Review 1:The room I was allocated had been renovated a year prior .....so in terms of layout /comfort it was good value .....however the room absolutely stunk of stale cigarettes ...the housekeeper trying to convince me it was a renovation smell ..pointing out a closed off area for smokers a few doors up from mine......which did not nothing to alleviate the bad smell in my room ....I tried my best to tolerate the smell but eventually had to ask for a room change The second room had a mild cigarette smell but it was tolerable .....however the phone in the room did not work ....the old heating system made a noise all night long even though I turned everything off When I initially checked in I asked for a late check out ...I was given until 3.00pm the next day ...however that information was not passed on when I changed rooms and the Front Desk rang me at 1.00pm the next day to ask whether I was checking out or staying on I also went to Moxies Restaurant for something to eat shortly after checking in ....I ordered an entree of lettuce cups and chicken /soy filling ...three quarters of an hour later I still had not been served while new arrivals of two or more in the party were being served before me ...in the end I had to ask if the food was going to arrive as I had to leave ...so many waitresses passed my table and totally ignored me .....seemingly because I was alone and perhaps represented low dollar value to them Sadly there seemed to be a total lack of interest from the time of check in to eating in the restaurant and checking out Regardless of the renovations the hotel still has a very dated feel about it ....their needing to clear /clean the rooms of stale / old cigarette fumes etc during their renovations

Review 2:The bed was comfortable

Review 3:Because my husband left very early for the airport, the hotel's records had us listed as checked out, even though my husband never submitted his room key or said he was checking out. I was still in the room! If I hadn't put a "Do not disturb" sign on the door, a maid probably would have come into the room while I was still in bed. That same morning, we didn't receive a newspaper at our room door and when I checked at front desk, I was dismayed that they thought we had checked out. The room was in my name, using my credit card and I still had both our key cards in the room. When the manager asked that morning how long I was staying, her tone of voice seemed to imply I was overstaying. Not impressed.

Review 4:Free apples. Ability to make coffee in the room. Having a microwave. Hot tub, pool, and gym room. Having Moxie's right next door. Had an excellent meal there and enjoyed the atmosphere and waitress.

Review 5:Old hotel, dirty walls, bathroom vent was filthy, rust on lights, rug was wore out, Small room. Very noisy location. Non stop trucks and car noise and horns.

Review 8:The internet WIFI did not work in the room...the signal was barely perceptible. The desk said too many people in the hotel. Isn't that the object? UPGRADE THE SERVICE!

Review 10:I dropped my key on the floor and when I bent down to pick it up I found a pair of dirty socks and other items of garbage under the bed.DISGUSTING. We asked for an early morning wakeup call and did NOT get it.

Review 11:The room I had this time was a bit small and not much floor space for travellers carrying a lot of luggage. No help available for luggage....

Review 12:Friendly accommodating staff, willing to do anything to help. Always a smiling face and very efficient at checkout.

Review 13:The internet connection was horrible in the room. Also for two night, there was a very bad smell was in the entire neighborhood like burning the garbage and it lasted for hours. I asked for a knife to peel fruits and they said I should buy room service to get a knife.

Review 17:I purchased wifi when I reserved with booking.com. They didn't have a record of that but I had proof through my email confirmation. They honoured it ( I'll check my receipt closely so I don't get charged twice) but were snarky about it.

Review 27:They had been very helpful from the beginning. On the day we needed to go to the airport, there was a bad traffic that caused their shuttle to come late. They quickly called in 2 taxis to take us, at their expense. Very professional.

Review 28:Nothing. The lobby was dirty, disheveled, and smelled unclean. It took over 30 minutes standing in line just to check in. The desk was understaffed at a time when people are normally checking in. Bed was hard, had a very poor sleep, couldn't wait to get out of there!

Review 30:There was a hair on the wall of the shower, ew! Wifi sucked, very weak and kept cutting out. Pillows were done, they were too flat for me.

Review 31:Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Desk made it easy to book your airport shuttle. Room service was very quick and food was hot and good!

Review 32:Cost was too high I was with a group of parents involved in a volleyball tourney they were all closer to the venue/airport and paid much less at newer hotels.

Review 36:Staff - the guy checking us in and out the next morning was possibly the funniest and most cheerful employee we've met :-) Free shuttle service every 30mins to the airport, 24hrs a day. Nice restaurant on site. Easy to get into town with the skytrain from a stop relatively close to the hotel. A taxi would probably be around $10 to the nearest stop.

Review 37:Within easy reach of airport with free shuttle. Good standard of accommodation with Moxies restaurant attached. All check in staff encounter very pleasant and helpful.

Review 39:The location, 24 hour airport shuttle service, the fact that Moxie's is connected to it, and the friendly service that was provided. There was a problem with the air conditioner and it was dealt with promptly. Being within 10 minutes of the airport makes this a great stop-over location when traveling.

Review 40:We were upgraded to a loft room with a kitchenette. The room was great. The location worked out well for our plans. We had stayed here before and would in the future.

Review 41:SkyTrain stop is 4 blocks away but it's a long 4 blocks - will take at least 15 minutes to walk. Shuttle driver made it sound like it was a quick 4 block walk.

Review 47:The gentleman on the front desk was courteous & helpful, our room was clean & comfortable. We had dinner at Moxies. The staff were short and their service was poor. My husband joined me for dinner we did not get silverware with our dinner. we asked for some & she returned with one set wrapped in a fabric napkin. We asked for another set for my husband he got set with paper napkins. The poor service continued. In the morning I attempted to get on the shuttle. The driver refused me & my small carryon by putting his hand up in my face. I am 54 years old this is NOT acceptable. He then got on the bus shut the door.As I was walking back into the hotel he came in asking if I needed a shuttle. He turned walked away took my suitcase threw it on the pile in the back. I will never book at the sandman again!!!!!

Review 48:Check-in clerk made error on our early morning wake-up call and we did not get one. (Luckily my wrist-watch woke us.)

Review 50:extremely slow service in hotel restaurant--Moxies....both in having order taken and in receiving food. We were in before 8p and waited on at 8.15p. Watched staff kibitz while 2 others worked. Dinner cold when received salad was replaced with requested dressing when dismay shown at not being asked what dressing would be liked. Carpet in room stained. This was the only hotel we had that had a carpet. (had been away for a month)

Review 54:The hotel itself was fine, but finding it after dark in busy traffic was challenging. There was a second Sandman property in close proximity (which we stopped at first before being redirected). We also had to go through another hotel's parking lot to get on the Sandman property by following a tour bus down a narrow lane....a bit confusing even with a GPS and without local knowledge.

Review 55:Room had a jacuzzi (in the main room) and a bedroom loft, as well as a kitchenette, both of which were a total surprise. If you were mobility challenged, you should mention this when you book the room to avoid climbing to your bed. Otherwise, comfortable and lots of room.

Review 56:Construction and renovations going on so restaurant, pool and hot tub were closed down without any notice prior to arriving. It took forever to get hot water running in the shower and couldn't get even warm water from the sink. Overall the stay was very disappointing, happy we booked elsewhere for the rest of the weekend.

Review 57:The room was really small, the bathroom was dirty and old, the towels were stained, the pillows were old, smelly and flat and the parking was really tight for a larger car. Go anywhere else.

Review 67:The hotel has been renovated from the outside and in the lounge but the rooms could use a little more attention. The washroom didn't have a fan so when you got out of a shower it felt like you were in a sauna.

Review 68:The location of the hotel was perfect for our trip. The receptionist was very accommodating we had taken a ferry from Vancouver island and wanted to check in to the hotel prior to our engagement which was well before check. We arrived at the hotel and checked immediately no line ups.

Review 75:My booking.com hal to he 597 CAD and I wanted to pay that ammount the first day we arrived but were advised to do that the morning we leave. I insisted in my request a few more times and made reception a to acknowledge the final bill the night before we leave. Yet only a few minutes to our Airport service in the morning I found myself doing a 900$ bill. Yes the situation was rectified later on that day but I had to read and write mails as I-as rushing to change plain with family at Torond heading for Istanbul. Wasn't nice at all

Review 87:sleep was poor because of the noise, AC is way too noisy, but could be turned off. The electric buzz (60Hz) from the Sandman sign outside of the wall could not be turned off.

Review 88:The rooms, small counterspace in the bathroom. Lumpy pillows. Stayed two nights, the beds were not made, cups not washed. The bedcovers were tossed crumpled up by side of the bed. Room was not vacuumed. Dirty and smelly.

Review 93:-We did not get the room we had booked. At arrival we were told that wehad been"upgraded" from "two beds" to "one bedplus sleeping couch plus kitchen". Staff insisted that this was asuperior room even though we pointed out that we had no use for akitchen. In the room there weren't even sheets for the sleepingcouch. When we refused to accept this we were quickly moved to anotherroom. This had not been cleaned properly, there were used towels in thebathroom and hair all over one of the beds. -Room was very hot. Windowcould barely be opened. Air condition was very loud and kept as awakehalf the night. -WiFi not usable -No breakfast options

Review 98:The hotel is close to the airport, and easy to get to, and was conveniently located for our trip to the Twassen ferries the next day. The guy at the front desk was helpful and polite, even though at first they couldn't find my booking. He also made a great effort to speak to us in French, once he heard us speaking it to our children. Having a Moxies on site was very convenient for us, as we had just come off a flight with two young children, and didn't really feel like going anywhere.

Review 99:Free shuttle bus to airport every 30 mins, we had our room upgraded free of charge which was a nice surprise, all staff friendly and very helpful with directions to attractions in Vancouver

Review 100:The air conditioner rattled when ever it came on. Kept me awake all night. When we checked out the clerk just took my cards and didn't ask if I wanted a copy of my receipt or anything. Seemed preoccupied. As well our daughter forgot her toothbrush and the hotel was out of them.
