Reviews for Cranberry Golf Resort

Review 1:Hotel is dated and needs work done to modernize it for today's standards.

Review 2:Good location and a fair price for what I paid since I got a deal. At other times, I noted the same room asking for $250+ which I would be unhappy to pay for.

Review 3:The mattresses weren't very comfortable.

Review 4:The staff was wonderful, friendly, helpful and kind. We had an issue in our first room with the fireplace not working and when they were unable to get someone in to fix it they upgraded us without us even asking. The room was beautiful and had every we needed!

Review 5:the check in process was chaotic due to the holidays and the place was booked to capacity and I do not believe management staff and plan for it. however, the staff was very polite and professional infront of a very displeased crowd of people. while I was in the check line, I learnt that there was a promotion there for a $40 a night as well, perhaps the cause for the crowd and full capacity. for a customer that was paying full price, I felt that I should not have to go through this. I waited for two hours to check in and then had to wait for my room because it was not ready and it was after 4pm. I blamed management for not planning for this. And given that they had a promotion for $40 night and I paid full price.

Review 6:the condo.

Review 7:The plumbing system in room 326 wasn't workimg properly. Loud noise at night. We were happy with service and staff were friendly. We will go back again

Review 8:Excellent staff, service, and beautiful newly renovated rooms. Highly recommend for short or long vacations. This resort has everything one needs for a fantastic holiday. Will definitely return to the resort.

Review 9:Some things were not critical but important to mention. The staff is well mannered, willing to help but not trained. We checked in to Living Water to the room 5116-5118, with directions to the elevator given by receptionist. Upon arrival to the 5th floor there was a long hallway with the signs to the rooms. Our room number was nowhere to find on the signs, and to avoid wandering around the long hallways with luggage and carrying a little 7-month old, especially when the sign tells you that the room is not there, we went back to the reception... just to find out that they recently opened an extension down the hallway, we just have to keep going. There was a bowl of dried rice found in one of the rooms. There was still construction dust found in the corners, there was no spoons. In the morning, we all went downstairs to have a breakfast that was advertised and talked about at check in. However, the breakfast is not served at Living Water but at Cranberry, which is a 10 min walk or 2 min drive away. We were not prepared, nor didn't have our coats on to go for a walk in the middle of winter.Again, these are little things that anybody would be ok with, it didn't really affect our mood but having these things fixed would bring the place to another level. The thing that really needs to be fixed at this place is this one. On January 1,2016 the bunch of families checked into few rooms on the same floor, it looks like there were all related as few doors were kept open and people roamed from room to room, talking loudly. Their children turned the hallway into the playground, building forts and running around screaming, sometimes "accidentally" knocking on our doors. The hotel staff was not prepared for this invasion, as numerous calls and visits to the front desk did not result in anything. Their "party" was going until 1am, when children went to bed.

Review 10:We booked 2 bedroom suite for 4 days around New Years to spend with family and friends. We haven't stayed at Cranberry, they did not have enough rooms, we were checked in the nearby Living Water, which is kind of upgrade. The rooms were spacious, freshly renovated, big screen TV in each room. Lots of extra seating, comfy couches, modern interior design - these were all impressive details of our stay. However, the points below will make it impossible for our family to go back. We cut our trip one day short to avoid further disappointment.

Review 11:WIFi was poor -always dropping out or not available. Cleaning staff were very noisy early in the morning. Breakfast (food) was not very good but the breakfast staff was very nice.

Review 12:The pool & the room were great. Nice view from the room.

Review 13:Noisey guests in nearby rooms, children screaming and doors slamming well into the night.

Review 14:Lovely, very comfortable room. Great location and very friendly, helpful staff.

Review 15:Dated, bathroom counter still had cigarette burn mark. Outside door to stairs did not lock , nice hotel if it was under $100/night. But not good value for $150 range especially in shoulder season!

Review 16:Looking up from bath to see not finished repairs to ceiling; drywall dust on top of outlets in bathroom (not properly cleaned up after repairs).

Review 17:Lots of space, kitchen fully stocked, location to retirement home is a plus for us. Price on booking.com was a fraction of what the resort page offers - that's excellent!

Review 18:We had a very bad experience at Memories restaurant. We ordered steaks (both medium). They were served to as and they were charred and barely warm (must have been sitting out for awhile). We brought it up with the waitstaff and manager who said they would cook us new steaks. They just reheated our previous steaks cooking them further. We decided to leave. Very poor and very disappointed especially since this was our anniversary dinner.

Review 19:Free popcorn in the lobby. Fireplace in the lobby.

Review 20:We could here the neighboring room talking as if they were beside our bed...this continued to 2am in the morning, so needless to say we got minimal sleep.

Review 21:The staff was very friendly, however, very understaffed. This was experienced the entire stay. I know it wasn't the fault of the people working, that would fall on management.

Review 22:The staff and the lounge had a single man playing music, we went down to get a cocktail to bring to the room and we ended up staying until they closed. It was a great evening with wonderful atmosphere.

Review 23:Check in was quick. Room was clean and bright. Beds were comfortable. Excellent breakfast buffet, only $12.95 and we had a $5 coupon given to us with some others in an envelope at check in. They make fresh omlets for you, fresh fruit, pastries, banana bread french toast, bacon and sausage etc.

Review 24:Eight friends spent the night and went to Molly Bloom's to spend the night with The Strange Potatoes. Awesome time!! Will DEFINITELY stay here again. Thank you!!

Review 25:At the Bistro, the service was awful. There was no one in the bistro, but the bar was full. We were ignored for quite a while and had to go over to the bar and ask for some service to have dinner. I had my geriatric mother with me with a walker. One bartender said he had trouble with the draft beer taps - so what! Had multiple waitresses running hither and yon. Went to pay with my mother's ATM card and waitress could not find the machine and which didn't give me a print out. Very poor service, but, on the bright side, food was fantastic!

Review 26:The beauty from the room's window. Loved it.

Review 27:The rooms are very tired. We were told they were recently renovated but they have only had minor cosmetic, cheap upgrades. The pool area is in huge need of a reno. The breakfast was horrible for almost $13/pp - we left and ate at McDonald's once we realized this. The pop machine ripped me off 75 cents then was told I would have to go thru coca cola to get my money back.

Review 28:The beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. The location is great also.

Review 29:Pace of play was terrible and no marshals made it worse. Many of the red stakes were knocked down around the hazards and you only found out after you were in the marsh or weeds.

Review 30:Staff was friendly and the carts were in good condition. Tee boxes were in good condition, but we were not told the greens were being aerated and it made for difficult putting.

Review 31:The staff at the Cranberry Resort bent over backwards for me when I found myself staying longer than expected due to unforeseen circumstances. They did everything, and then some for me. I am ever grateful to them and I will always recommend them to everyone!

Review 32:the change machine was out of order in the arcade room , the bar was only able to give us $2 in change for us to enjoy the room we also ask to borrow a bottle opener and we're told they didn't have one to lend us

Review 33:the check in and check out staff were extremely friendly and helpful, directing us to areas of town

Review 34:The water activities run at the marina closed early on our last day so the kids could not go paddle boarding ..also our reservation from booking .com was not sent to Cranberry, very embarrasing and annoying after a five hour car journey, however it was handled very well by Karen and Stephen at the main check in...thanks to them, great staff..

Review 35:The location is great looking out at the marina and the lake, however lots of construction starting at 6.58.am did not sit well when you are looking to sleep in..

Review 36:Staff called in sick and the marina had no back up plan so guests were not accommodated with an alternative (stand up paddle board) very disappointed

Review 37:Location close to lots of things beach mountain etc Nice break

Review 38:Your main resort bar has the BEST Shirley Temples and Artichoke dip! Your location and amenities were very convenient and varied, but all of good and enjoyable quality. Thank you for a great stay! We will be back :)

Review 39:the landscapers were out cutting the grass at 7:30am. I was not interested in an early rise on my vacation.

Review 40:the manager called back to provide free breakfast for the disturbance from the landscapers at 7:30am

Review 41:Our shower taps were broken and wouldn't turn off. Breakfast was ok but for the price there should have been more selection

Review 42:The hotel itself is very nice. The facilities are clean and the grounds are gorgeous.

Review 43:We stayed in Club Cranberry and furniture was old and tired. Needs updating. Indoor pool needs work. Floor very slippery, pool dirty

Review 44:Location was good, bed was extremely comfortable. Full kitchen with large 2 bedroom units.

Review 45:The game room change machine had no change

Review 46:The overall trip was fantastic. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable

Review 47:We all loved the room and the beds were so comfy. Decor in the hallways was very nice. Just make sure that the outside entrance doors do get locked since we came back after 11:00 one night and the door was still unlocked.

Review 48:Stayed before and had a room with balcony which was great this time we couldn't get this type of room and the alternative was not so nice. Phones for a box of tissue paper and it was promised to be delivered, never came. Had to ask person cleaning room to leave a box the next day. Was out of room from 8:30 am till 2:30 and only when we got back at 2:30 did someome show up to clean room and make bed. Had to sit in lobby till done.

Review 49:Location

Review 50:The only thing I don't like is there's No DO NOT DISTURB sign on my room I have to ask the front desk for one.

Review 51:The facilities are very nice the rooms are clean.

Review 52:The hot water system broke when we were there. My husband could not shower before we left.

Review 53:Lovely setting. Room was comfortable. Bed was very comfortable. Excellent meal in Memories Restaurant.

Review 54:I'm not too much of a picky person. I loved my stay. But if I had to change one thing it would be to give the hotel an update. It looks a little beat but it's still nice.

Review 55:It was a pleasant stay for one night. I liked how it was minutes away from activities. I highly recommend the sea-doo activity. It was a blast and so worth it. Also taking a trip up the mountain was amazing. The view was spectacular.

Review 56:Late check in time (4pm) and suite not ready until 4.30. We're moved from main resort (Cranberry golf) to Living Waters which was like a building site. Unable to use indoor pool, outdoor pools some distance across main road and with poor facilities. Garbage strewn around bbq area not cleaned up.

Review 57:Good location. Very spacious 2 bedroom suite.

Review 58:Room dated Furniture stained.View of parking lot.Visited friends previously in same building room was much more updated.Took three times to get key to work. Will probably think twice before rebooking this building

Review 59:location

Review 60:Check in was 4 pm and check out was 10. Very disappointed that we were not able to get to use the outside pool. How could anyone with these hours?

Review 61:Beds were awesome. Pool inside great along with hot tub. Great to see towels in swim area. Loved free wifi

Review 62:Just read from above. I won't stay there again. I liked the actual Cranberry. I don't appreciate dishonesty. Also they spelled my name wrong and it almost cost me an additional $300.00 are you kidding me?

Review 63:The condo was nice. I was not where I thought I would be. The actual Cranberry resort. I stayed there before. Instead I was across the road at the sister resort. Nice place but under construction. Which started at first light. Are you kidding me???? No sleeping in. Big disappointment. I splurged on this. Not fair.

Review 64:Air conditioner was somewhat noisy so woke a few times.

Review 65:Chef was willing to cook 2 eggs for my daughter since she is gluten and dairy intolerant. Thank you

Review 66:We couldn't use our balcony due to bees nesting under the siding....disappointing. Maintenance came but problem was not solved in the time we were there.

Review 67:Location was great for a few days of golf (Cranberry was a wonderful course). Lots of room in our two bedroom (lock off) apartment.

Review 68:Some things around the resort are "tired" and could use updating...i.e. door/frame to rec centre, no air conditioning in hotel exercise room.

Review 69:The room has been renovated recently. Looks good and is very comfortable.

Review 70:Rooms (4 nights) not cleaned well, carpet felt grimy and day 2 found old Chocolate on floor, not ours? One day left 5 min. and came back...room done...wasn't fresh.

Review 71:Good service in hotel areas, enough to help, but not overwhelm. Lovely property with good access to Collingwood.

Review 72:It would have made the room more comfortable if there was a mirror and the coffee was mediocre.

Review 73:We did like the service by the employees there. They were quick to respond i.e. quickly got us coffee mugs for room when asked and cot.

Review 74:the fragging little elevator (1) and trying to get out from the middle floor with luggage. If ever a resort need another elevator ,it's this one.

Review 75:3 salt water heated pools and an indoor hot jacuzi

Review 76:We stayed here in July for 2 nights with my brother, sister and their spouses in a 2 bedroom apartment (which was a 1 br full kitchen with a 1 bedroom (2 double beds) lock off. The down side of this is that there were 3 couples (in which one couple was going to take the sofa but it was as hard as a rock and so we didn't even try to sleep on it ! (good thing there was 2 beds in the other room and we did not mind sharing a room)! . Great service at the front desk when we called them to bring more plates and silverware because there not enough dishes house keeping was there quickly with more . We decided to stay another night, front desk was very accommodating were were able to stay in our original rooms and we were given toiletries upon request. Swimming pool was a great thing to have. Thank you

Review 77:Front desk staff very confused and not sure what to do with their computer systems when I book thru booking.com. I thought the first time I stayed there was an isolated situation. 2nd time..same issue.

Review 78:Location and comfortable bed.

Review 79:I asked for an early arrival time between 1:00 and 2:00 - we didn't get in until 4:00 - I found this inconvenient as I had booked 2 months prior - the staff on the desk didn't seem to really try to get us in earlier- she could have put a rush on the cleaning. - we had a long ride and wanted to get checked in when we got there . I found 4:00 too late for check in time.

Review 80:/Everything else was great - my family of 6 enjoyed everything. Good size, a lot of room, spacious, clean, close to amenities.

Review 81:Wifi was very slow. Housecleaning was done only once during 4 days stay. Need to upgrade TV signal. Still analog!? Recreation equipments need serious upgrade, esp basketball net.

Review 82:Good location.

Review 83:The TV didn't work and pool wasn't open when it was supposed to be open. Staff in the lounge didn't acknowledge us and we left. Only had one staff member check in people.

Review 84:Easy access to the parking lot and the view from the room was nice.

Review 85:We were 'upgraded' to a better suite in the facility across the road which was was under construction. Noisy in the morning, balcony and outside pool area had construction dust /cement everywhere. Change rooms at pool were a mess and promised steam room didn't work in ladies change room.

Review 86:Comfortable bed.

Review 87:Didn't realize had to walk to pool, leisure center has a outdoor pool used by kids. indoor pool on site? lots of room to have a outdoor pool on premises, picnic tables no umbrellas for shade, same with adult pool at the golf resort 5 minute walk everything is spread out. still a nice place. pictures on the web do not say spread and walks to pool etc...

Review 88:The breakfast buffet was good however it was very overpriced for a plain breakfast. Some items were disappointing. We had dinner there only once as we were not impressed with the food and how ot was prepared. The stir fry was soaking in the sauce and vegetables were undercooked making it impossible to eat. The chicken parmesan was way over cooked:( Also not pleased that the outdoor pool was so far away from the resort and with no shade. Indoor pool was always busy with younger children. The discount coupons we received were of no value to us. Would have been pleased to recieve food vouchers instead as the restaurants are too expensive.

Review 89:All the staff were very friendly and our room was kept clean and we liked that the resort was at a central location.

Review 90:I made reservations with a booking agency. When I called to confirm my reservations the hotel did not have them. I had to make several calls before the hotel finally received my reservations. I was not impressed.

Review 91:Major problem air condition blow cool air but not enough its stop every 2 minutes and setting does not work and it's very loud noisy I could not sleep. Air condition placed at wrong place of the room.

Review 92:At the check out time there was a guy at the counter was talking to everyone about there stay and comfort.

Review 93:Construction on the unit next door started at 07:30. Too early for a Saturday.

Review 94:We were upgraded to an apartment. It was absolutely outstanding. LED's on the shower head a little weird though.

Review 95:when i checked in it seemed inconvenient that i asked for someone to help me with my bags- it was 14 stairs i had to carry them up and down and no elevator all stairs! the food was poor they advertise 3 restaurants the 2 restaurants on site had identical menus,,,the 3rd restaurant was off site,,, they likely had the same menu

Review 96:the room was adequate it is a dated resort its in a location where you have to drive to everything and most things are chains which i get in my own town

Review 97:~WiFi was very slow ~pools were nothing special ~hallways could be vacuumed more...as high traffic areas they collect more dirt/debris

Review 98:~rooms newly renovated and clean ~front desk staff really nice and helpful

Review 99:The jacuzzi tub was not working and we were not informed. All visitors should be advised if there is a problem. this clearly would have been seen by cleaning staff as the button was sunk into the tub

Review 100:good value , clean , nice restaurants on site

Review 101:We stayed in the Cranberry Club in a 1 bedroom. It was in major need of repair and TLC. Holes in bathroom wall and mold stains under the counter. Couch was very dirty and worn looking. Grounds needed maintenance. Playground for kids was old, club house was tired looking, weeds on tennis courts.

Review 102:The location. Close to Blue Mountain and downtown Collingwood. Access to a clubhouse for the kids with free activities each day. They have renovated the restaurants in the main hotel and they look very nice.

Review 103:The facilities were a little run down. We wanted to play basketball at the rec center but the rims were broke all week. Housekeeping was not good. No wash cloths the first night. Ask for housekeeping at 11 and still wasn't completed at 5 although the cart was there, and the room door was open no housekeeper was in the area. Don't know how long room door was open.

Review 104:The location is nice. Close to Blue Mountain. Close to the marina.

Review 105:Air conditioner broken in room. Reported the first night but not repaired. No big deal. Reported it again second day and it was taken care of immediately.

Review 106:Comfortable bed. Good location

Review 107:The AC didnt work and the front desk did nothing to help solve it or help make things better. The bath tub in the bathroom was gross.

Review 108:I liked how it was available when all else was not

Review 109:If I have to say something it would be empty refrigerator in room. Should have a few waters and or pop.

Review 110:My wife loved the spa I loved the golf. We liked the $10 coupons we received for each.

Review 111:Long walk to adult pool no towels supplied booked two rooms together but was given two rooms as far apart as possible booked two kings but only one available when we arrived

Review 112:Grounds looked nice rooms clean

Review 113:The staff at the front desk didn't seem to have any idea what they were doing at check in and check out.

Review 114:The room was nice and clean. We enjoyed using the indoor pool on a rainy day.

Review 115:Tapas restaurant , good food , quantity was light, sue was the one person server and bartender did well with the challenges

Review 116:Good place for a impromptu stay as a couple Didn't golf. Tapas restaurant had some issues Staff very pleasant

Review 117:My request for a main level courtyard room could not be met. Our room faced the parking lot and hi way so there was no view and we had to keep the blind closed for privacy.

Review 118:Room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 119:Actually everything was great. but the only thing is l am a light sleeper and the fridge is very loud.

Review 120:Heated floor in washroom. Especially me always being cold.

Review 121:I would have liked to have a glass of wine in my room. I understand this is not a practice of the restaurant but after travelling on business it would be a nice thing to be able to do.

Review 122:We did not mind the overall "dated" impression. However, missing siding pieces, a chipped cup in the kitchen, holes in the wall where a towel bar was moved, wiped off black mold at the front of the bath tub, a water stained kick board and cracked cocking at the bathroom vanity and light switches with dark traces on them, put a bit of a damper on the overall impression. It did not help to have cig. smoke coming into our non-smoking rooms and heavy walkers above us.

Review 123:Our apartment had lot's of light and a nice little kitchen. The overall layout of the rooms was very good and the overall cleanliness acceptable. We did not make any us of room services.

Review 124:Food was ok, not what I would class as high quality resort food. There was a lot of garbage left behind furniture in our room, obviously from previous occupants

Review 125:Rooms were spacious and bright. Lots of amenities provided. Staff was very pleasant and the hotel was very close to downtown so it was easy to get anything we needed. Views of Blue Mountain were very nice. Pool was excellent, kids loved it

Review 126:Hallways smelled as soon as walking in. Rooms have been up graded but look cheapily done in some spots. Closet door not attached or proper one, tub insert so you felt it when showering and bottom of bathroom door cracked and broken

Review 127:Comfortable bed

Review 128:The pool was a little to cool for my liking. The fridge in the room was noisy and everything l put in would freeze.

Review 129:Comfort of the beds. Staff are awesome. The surroundings were great. The atmosphere was nice.

Review 130:Hallways were very noisy. Cleaning staff talked non stop for 2 hours while the were working. I did not need to know about there kids or the party's the went to

Review 131:That said, there was very little for them to do at the hotel when the weather didn't cooperate for outside activities.

Review 132:We liked having our own space where the kids could be a little rowdy and not disturb others.

Review 133:Wifi was absolutely horrid. Need to invest in making it faster, especially with it being such a necessity these days. Pretty noisy floor above us too.

Review 134:Spacious condo quarters for a very reasonable price. Seemed pretty clean.

Review 135:The wifi was really poor, but I have stayed here before and it was great. I inquired and I guess they were in the midst of switching wifi companies, so it should be better in the future.

Review 136:Beds were great! And a great shower! :) 'I've stayed here quite a few times.
