Reviews for The Cube in Revelstoke

Review 1:A bit of false advertising, as the place very much had the vibe of a hostel and nota hotel.

Review 2:Great breakfast with waffles and stocked kitchen! Very clean.

Review 3:Rooms are not ensuite andI still wonder why it is called boutique. It''s nice though.

Review 4:Centrally located downtown Revelstoke and very close to the aquatic centre.makes it a better option than the other places further west.

Review 5:Thin walls and doors and a room by the stairs made for a noisy night as guests arrived late at night. Next time I will request a room further away from the stairs.

Review 6:Low price, convenient location, large enough rooms, clean, ample food available at breakfast.

Review 7:Reception staff was friendly. Other guests were very friendly at breakfast. Liked that there were facilities like a fridge if we had needed it. Loved the location.

Review 8:Nothing!

Review 9:I stayed at this hostel with a group of exchange students on our road trip from Vancouver to Banff national park and it was great! Expectations weren't high considering the past reviews but it was an amazing hostel - kitchen facilities and living room with a big squishy couch were amazing, breakfast was really good, and my bed was very comfortable. Also there was a kooky little pub on the parallel street where we went for a drink that was pretty nice.

Review 10:WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT WE DID NOT HAVE TO SHARE BATHROOM FACILITIES; HOWEVER IF WE WOULD HAVE HAD NO CHOICE, WE WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE NOT LIKED THAT.

Review 11:CLEANLINESS, GREAT BREAKFAST

Review 12:Location was key for our trip. Renee was particularly pleasant and welcoming. Breakfast very good with adequate choice. Muffins not so good though...made from a packet mix I would think !! Will certainly return when next this way. Love the Town of Revelstoke. Great walks with the environment taken into consideration. Hope the OLD DOWN TOWN remains vibrant and is preserved for future generations...NO MORE BOX STORE DEVEOPMENT should be tolerated.

Review 13:...the only problem we had was we couldnt open the windows in the room. Maybe the Canadian windows are just a bit weird...

Review 14:We had a really great stay! Even our dog was allowed in the room!! :-) Everything was clean and compfy...

Review 15:No showers in room, (website said private shower, did not say down the hall.) Hostel, not mentioned, except in one picture. Asked for money back but was refused.

Review 16:Staff were pleasant, clean, nice central area, nice kitchen, comfortable bed.

Review 17:This is a HOSTEL not a "boutique hotel". Small room with sink and toilet in the room. Only shared showers (tiny too). "Breakfast" included= which is basically bad waffles, coffee and cereal.(clean after yourself type just like a dorm). You pay up front not when you check out.

Review 18:It was close to restaurants and stores. It has a very nice living room/lounge area.

Review 19:The sink was in the room like beside one of the beds but it was ok.

Review 20:It was super adorable! Small rooms but they were clean and the beds were comfortable. The common areas were bright and open.

Review 21:Showers in Hallway. Rude staff, turning off lights in public Room like in Kindergarden, no matter if one is playing games or reads a book. No mirror to be found, with enough light to shave or whatever

Review 22:I should have read more in between the lines - this is more like hostel than hotel (shared showers and self-serve breakfast). The quality of these was good anyway.

Review 23:Interesting interior and exterior. Everything clean and new (opened in Jan 15).

Review 24:It was so easy! I checked in, had my room set up, could walk into town to grab food and then breakfast was ready when I got up so I could leave early. The perfect quick stopover in revy.

Review 25:Nice Hostel. Clean and comfortable. The name is misleading tho as to me this not a hotel. You get a sink and toilet in the queen rooms but showers are shared. Overall we enjoyed our stay but in all honesty it I would have known it was a hostel I would have paid a little more for a hotel.

Review 26:A little expensive for not having our own shower.

Review 27:Location excellent, walking distance to everything. Basic but good breakfast. Clean and comfortable beds.

Review 28:Room - small; found dirty tissue on the floor. Room otherwise clean. Only 1 pillow per person. Staff - very busy and not very welcoming. Warmed up a bit later. Value - overpriced for what we got. Boutique Hotel - by definition, it is not: Boutique hotel is a term used initially in North America and the United Kingdom to describe small hotels which have typically between 10 and 100 rooms[1] in unique settings with upscale accommodations. The same concept is used in hotels in South America, Asia, and Africa.

Review 29:Cute idea but overpriced for what was provided. For almost $100 just not worth it.

Review 30:Shared showers in the hallway, not much choice for breakfast, too few tables in the breakfast area (people were standing) and you had to do your own dishes.

Review 31:Fully equipped kitchen available, good beds, good location, free wifi, nice muffins at breakfast.

Review 32:I felt this place was a hostel through and through, not at all a hotel yet I payed the high price of a hotel. It was our one night away for the whole summer and the last thing I wanted to have to do was clean my own dishes after breakfast. Even just having a dishwasher would go far. I heard other people complaining about washing their dishes as well which makes me wonder how clean they're actually getting. The ones I first grabbed weren't clean and so I had to wash before and after I ate. Also our room was right in the common area/kitchen and for me it was very awkward entering and exiting with people sitting 2 feet from the door eating, not relaxing at all. I was woken up very early by the constant beeping of the waffle maker. I also felt the need to whisper while we ate as there are other rooms in the dining area and I was with an 8 year old, this was stressful and not an enjoyable time. Had I been looking for a hostel, and had it been cheaper hostel prices, there would have been no surprises.

Review 33:Loved being able to walk to the pool and it was nice getting complimentary passes for it.

Review 34:A double bed would have been nice, instead of two singles, in the quadruple room.

Review 35:Excellent low key service. Unique concept. Didnt mind the shared showers as they were right outside of our room.Breakfast was an adequate continental style.

Review 36:The quad sharing room (# 202 with 2 single and 2 bunk beds) was very nice and spacious. The room came with attached toilet and washbasin. The showers are outside but plenty in number. The shower area was also spacious with a separate drying area and provision was given to hang clothes and keep other stuff. There was a common sitting(lounge) and breakfast area. Breakfast consisted of cereals, waffles, breads, fruit and tea and coffee. They have a common kitchen with cutlery, plates and other utensils and gas and microwave. One can cook their own meals. The hostel is very close to the river and also to food joints. Overall a very satisfactory stay.

Review 37:Bunk beds only in our family room may be an issue for some. Communal showers. Price was expensive.

Review 38:The space to sleep in was clean. We arrived at 11:00 pm so it served as a good place to sleep then get up and hit the road.

Review 39:Unfortunately the bathroom had a very strong bad smell, something like stinky feet. Looked clean so was very weird. Made an otherwise nice stay uncomfortable. No one was at The front desk in the morning so we could share this. I hope they can resolve this as I think this hotel has the potential to be the type if place I would stay at again.

Review 40:Cute place, friendly and efficient check in.

Review 41:Loved everything.

Review 42:This place was amazing!!! Stay here! The girl on the desk was really nice and helpful, she recommended places to eat (village idiot, great bar!) and let us check in early. The free swim pass was amazing, such a cool place. The whole place was spotless, really cool design, great t.v, big bed, great breakfast. We loved staying here! Revelstoke is awesome!

Review 43:Breakfast was good, but we ate early. They ran out of coffee and no butter for toast available. No attendant to ask for help.

Review 44:Great room. Plenty of electrical outlets. Reading lights! Clean, comfortable and centrally located. Near nice walking trail and aquatic centre. Free pass to center.

Review 45:Little expensive compared to motels for a hostel-type place The building was a cuboid not a cube :(

Review 46:Great stopping place for a night. Showers and a kitchen are shared, so its more like a hostel than a hotel, but the nicest hostel I've ever stayed in nonetheless! Plenty of showers and large kitchen. Well-stocked continental breakfast, clean comfy rooms. Staff v. friendly and helpful.

Review 47:Kitchen shutting at 9pm was a bummer if you wanted a hot drink.

Review 48:Nice clean environment with good atmosphere & cool decore. Really close to Revelstoke centre. Staff were very fastidious about how clean the kitchen & bathrooms were.

Review 49:In the group kitchen, guests were requested to wash their own dishes. I saw more than a few people barely rinse, then return their glasses and plates to the shelf..... I thought public places had to use soapy wash water of a certain temperature, rinse and air dry. I did not feel comfortable with the kitchen policy and did not use the dishes or cutlery. I grabbed a muffin , put coffee in my clean travel cup and left.

Review 50:I enjoyed the cheerful helping words of staff, the comfortable bed, the walking distance to downtown. I felt safe in the area as a single woman. I enjoyed the art and sculptures outside and throughout the rooms.

Review 51:Your breakfast should include diabetic friendly choices including protein like boiled eggs and banana.the bed in the room was very comfortable but no room to move with two twin beds, put in a queen!!

Review 52:.very friendly staff,clean,overall a nice experience.

Review 53:This is a hostel not a boutique hotel and should be marketed as such. It would have been a great stay at $70 with the proper expectations. It was way overpriced at $170.

Review 54:The location is very good and the passes to the Aqua centre were helpful.

Review 55:Very poor facilities. The fact that the showers are located outside the rooms in the hallway was hidden somewhere in the fine print. I would never ever have booked that facility (it definitely is not a hotel). They expect the guest to wash dishes after breakfast, and clean the shower after using it (located on the hallway!!). rice of a 3-star hotel, facilities of a -poor- hostel.

Review 56:Nothing

Review 57:The Cube felt like one of those awesome little gems of a hostel that you find off the beaten path when you're going through Europe. We really liked the vibe here.

Review 58:The free pass to the Aquatic Centre which is well worth a visit... It had a slide, climbing wall over the pool, a diving board, mini lazy river, pool basket ball, hot tub, sauna and steam room. We had a relaxing and peaceful stay: many thanks!

Review 59:My room was right off the common area and that was a pretty busy area. The walls were not super sound proof, however, the guests seemed to respect quiet hours.

Review 60:Location was awesome. Easy walking distance to all the restaurants and shops. Cute hotel with hostel like amenities. Loved the kitchen access.

Review 61:Although advertised as a hotel, this property is a hostel. Rooms are very small and showers are down the hall. Rooms are arranged around a central great room where guests can use the adjoining kitchen.

Review 62:Clean, new environment that was bright and airy with friendly staff and convenient downtown location. The included breakfast had more variety than expected for a continental breakfast.

Review 63:not as pet friendly as promoted, owner gave us a bit of a hard time as we travelled with two bigger dogs. Did not get response to email requests that were send prior to arrival, which could have avoided some isues.

Review 64:beds were good, but would not recommend for multiple day stay.

Review 65:Nice clean, modern little place to rest without breaking the bank. Plus breakfast was included which was a big bonus. We also received complementary passes to the aquatic centre down the road!

Review 66:Bananas at breakfast would have been nice :)

Review 67:The Mondrian look, the refreshing difference, the yummy waffles, the proximity to both town and river park.

Review 68:A little more lighting around sink might be nice and maybe a few more instructions for guests in the breakfast area.

Review 69:Check in was easy, beds were comfortable, breakfast was sufficient. Perfect spot to break our drive to Vancouver. All six of us had a bed and that's a bonus when traveling with teens. Will definitely stay again.

Review 70:Not too crazy about the 'cubist' design in a mountain village

Review 71:Very interesting hotel/hostel. Private rooms, shared showers and a nice common area with a very good kitchen. It is right downtown in a lovely mountain village just a very short walk from the beautiful river. Mountains all around make this a lovely place

Review 72:Rooms are a bit small, clustered around the main living area with very thin walls so you can hear everything. Bring earplugs. You have to make your own breakfast and clean up after yourself which is why it's more of a hostel than a hotel.

Review 73:Hotel is clean and modern looking. Waffles for breakfast are nice.

Review 74:No showers I the rooms. You wash up your own dishes after breakfast. More of a backpackers with private rooms then a boutique hotel.

Review 75:Position was good, beds comfortable and very clean.

Review 76:Not necessarily a bad thing but the showers were down the hall, not in the rooms. Also would have liked a full breakfast but the waffles were nice.

Review 77:The hotel was clean and looked newly renovated. It had a very European style and feel to it. Loved the free passes to the aquatics center. Overall it was a great little place.

Review 78:Being a hostel the showers are located down the hall separate from the rooms, if you find that too much of an inconvenience then this place is not for you.

Review 79:The rooms were very comfortable and modern. There is a private toilet and sink in each of the rooms which I found to be a plus. Free breakfast in the morning was also better than you would find in most hostels which included waffles. They do offer the free passes to the aquatic centre as well as discounted lift tickets for Revelstoke Mountain saving you about $25 each day. Our room was located right outside the main lounge/kitchen area however it was always quiet and we weren't disturbed at all after 10pm

Review 80:The guy don't understand than when everybofy is on WIFI, you can't no more connect, so it's possible than you can have WIFI for a couple of days! Also, be carefull, the cancelled policies ask 48 hours !! Instedad of just few hours asked usually in hotel! So I lost 100$ box!

Review 81:Everything is brand new, Kitchen is very clean and usefull

Review 82:Wifi signal was a bit patchy but overall this wasn't really a problem.

Review 83:Hostel prices but nicer rooms than many hostels I've stayed in. Very friendly staff who are always willing to help out.

Review 84:The hotel seems to market to the budget crowd - at regular hotel prices. Was a bit disappointed to pay Super 8 / Econolodge type prices but end up with room facilities and amenities which were way below those standards. Inflated prices - price point should be 25% below current rates.

Review 85:Quiet accomodations, clean rooms.

Review 86:quit noisy in rm 103.can ear poeple coming in the hotel, and talking to front office staff. Can also ear the radio the is located in the eating area. That start at7 am when people get ready to go ski.FOR THE 94$ +tax it is not to goodI must say.

Review 87:The Cube was a refreshing accommodation in Revelstoke with a bright modern friendly atmosphere. The property is new and was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen also very clean and was well equipped with anything you would need to make breakfast, your lunch and dinners.

Review 88:The kitchen only had 2 stove tops and 1 was in the corner. I could see this being an issue if the Hotel was full during dinner time. It was not an issue for us.

Review 89:The shared kitchen and shared living room space was nice. Included breakfast was also a plus. The hotel did not have a Hot Tub but included a free voucher ($6/each value) to the Aquatic center about 2 blocks down the road, which is a nice facility.

Review 90:The room was very cold when we arrived and the heating system was loud when switched on. We were locked out of our room because the lock broke on our door so the staff has to break our door to get in. We were then moved to another room. The only way to get some attention from staff was to call them from reception.

Review 91:The hostel was centrally located and easy to find because the building stands out. The staff were friendly and helpful and the kitchen facilities were great.

Review 92:Calls itself a "hotel" but it certainly is not one. It's a hostel with very loud echos around the living area. In the end I needed to get up and tell a group in the living space to shut up so we could sleep. If you want a social time, go there. If you want to sleep, then don't.

Review 93:Cool decor and central to town. Nice and clean.

Review 94:It was quiet, the bed was very comfortable, and the kitchen facilities were excellent. I have personally recommended this facility to friends. It was fun to meet other guests at meals.

Review 95:with that money, I should have stayed different hotel.... It was extremely small room as family room, and we had to use shared shower.... I should have researched more ..... Wall is so thin and I can hear all every noise from other room.

Review 96:We stayed in a private room. You have all you need in it: comfortable beds, wifi, reading lamps... Open kitchen to cook your own food. Breakfast OK. You have a clean and wide showers out of the room.

Review 97:Owner was not friendly. We kind of wondered why he was in the hospitality business.but maybe he thought we were too chatty.

Review 98:Big sunny common area to sit and read or chat. well equipped and very large kitchen for guests use.

Review 99:The price is a little high for a room where you have to use a common shower area and a breakfast that you have to cook and clean up yourself. If you don't need the unique bed setup their are other hotels within a block where you can stay cheaper and have the shower in your room.

Review 100:The 3 twin bed room ensured we all had uninterrupted sleeps.

Review 101:That I had to leave:-)

Review 102:That my room had a toilet and the whole establishment was new and was very quite between the rooms. I did not hear much noise from the rest of the building which is usually the case with most older complexes. I had the showers directly outside my room, so very convenient for access. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Parking was just outside the building so easy access for luggage.

Review 103:The beds were very uncomfortable

Review 104:This hostel was very centric, easy to get around town. The hostel had cute decor, modern looking, and the facilities looked clean. We had our own room with private bathroom.

Review 105:Sound travelled slightly between rooms as they are so close together. Fruit/yogurt at breakfast would have been lovely.

Review 106:Great location, clean, very functional. Great bed!

Review 107:I really loved the small, cosy, Ikea, feel to the place. It was clean, quiet and a lovely change to a hotel or motel. The breakfast was great ,too. Really good value for money. I would definitely recommend it and stay there again. :)

Review 108:It was a little bit pricy.

Review 109:The Cube is definitely a high standard hostel. Staffs are friendly and rooms are tidy. At the time of our stay they provided free breakfast which was in good quality as well. It's probably a little bit pricy for a hostel but you definitely get what you're paying for. All in all it is a perfect place for families with small children or couples looking for a clean and quite place in Revelstoke.

Review 110:The only thing I didn't like was the advertised breakfast wasn't completely provided. There was no fruit and there was a bowl of muffins which were never restoked so we didn't get any. Waffles were good!

Review 111:Location was pretty quiet and in walking distance from restaurants etc

Review 112:Owner/manager is a bit eccentric ... and I wasn't quite sure what the deal was with breakfast - how much of the stuff in the kitchen was for guests and how much was personal stuff for people staying there - a better set up breakfast area would be good.

Review 113:Room was clean, bed was comfortable, had cable TV. It's pretty spartan - no pictures on the walls, no personal touches - but it gets the job done. Wasn't expecting the showers to be in the hall, but not a biggie - only a few steps from the room. Very much a fun hostel atmosphere, and far enough off the main street to be an easy walk without the noise. Dry room was good for wet bike gear, and free passes for the aquatic centre was great! I'd stay again.

Review 114:the guy at the front was rude to us when we checked in past 10 pm. it never said anywhere on our reservation that we needed to be there prior to 10 pm. he did apologize though.

Review 115:good if you're looking for a cheap, clean, non-depressing place to rest your head.

Review 116:The beds were not very comfortable (for these 40yr+ bones), but were fine for a night and would have been fine in my earlier years. I gave them a lower cleanliness rating because we found some overlooked dirty towels hanging on the back of the bathroom door. It was not a huge deal for me, but my husband was completely grossed out. I know it was just an oversight as the rest of the place was quite clean and organized.

Review 117:It was a perfectly good one-night stay for our family of 3 (including 3yr old daughter). Having been to many an international youth hostel in my younger days. This was an excellent example of one of those. We had a triple room, which was 3 twin beds. It would be cost-effective if sharing with friends.

Review 118:they ran out of milk in the kitchen which was a pain with kids wanting cereal, steps to top bunks are pretty steep and high..not suited to little ones

Review 119:beds, location, super clean, quite when we stayed, free parking

Review 120:The walls were thin and the air conditioner was very loud. The continental breakfast included carbs only - waffles, bagels, bread, muffins, and cereal. There was no fruit, yogurt, juice, etc.

Review 121:A fridge in the room would be nice, we had to label our food and leave it in the fridge in the kitchen. For the cost of the room I don't feel I should have to do dishes.

Review 122:We traveled with a 2 year old, there were 3 twin beds we pushed together, and he slept in the middle. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Review 123:Everything about the place, location, staff, cleanliness, breakfast, and in addition the passes to the Aquatic Centre which was only 4 mins walk away were a great bonus.

Review 124:Showers are on the landing and not in rooms. Other than that, no negative comments. We.ll be back

Review 125:A pleasant stay. Helpful and smiling staff (Rasmus and Emma), they gave us a free entry to the water park.

Review 126:We were a group of three people and we got one room with 3 twin beds. The room was clean with a sink and potty in the room. Shower is located just outside the room in the hallway. The hotel has a common kitchen and you can make your own breakfast if you prefer. They had made muffins for breakfast and the fridge had milk. We had a comfortable night stay here before we head to Banff. Great place if you are going to be in Revelstoke area.

Review 127:Sure, the shower is in the hall and breakfast is DIY, and everything else (like towels) is bordering on the spartanic, but I found that I lacked absolutely nothing little gem of a hostel/hotel. And there is a perfection in that. Well done, Cube.

Review 128:Front desk was not that friendly.

Review 129:The value for money was great. I enjoyed the serve yourself breakfast. The shower facilities outside of room was for us great as all 4 of us could shower at the same time in the 4 individual shower stalls. Helped get on the road earlier.

Review 130:I have no negative comments to give about our stay at the CUBE!

Review 131:The atmosphere was very casual but inviting ... The staff was very obliging & overall the stay was very pleasant...
