Reviews for Three Valley Lake Chateau Ltd.
Review 1:Extremely dated, smelled stale and musty, needs a major renovation
Review 2:Beautiful location, staff were friendly (we had to leave shortly after checking in due to an emergency and were refunded)
Review 3:Rooms are dated. Wifi only works in lobby. Restaurant has very limited choices.
Review 4:Beautiful setting on lake front in valley between two steep mountains. Grounds and indoor garden are beautiful. "Ghost Town" next door is definitely worth a couple of hours - great collection of historic items.
Review 5:Appearances are deceptive! Querky from the outside but great inside. Comfy room and bed but coffee machine did not work. Beautiful gardens and lake.
Review 6:A great stopping off point for the road trip from Vancouver to the rockies. Quaint, if somewhat dated, hotel with an excellent value-for-money attached restaurant. Beautiful view from our room right down the lake and so peaceful.
Review 7:There were many signs saying that this place knew better times and possibly a better management. The furniture and utilities were totally outdated. The GPS navigator got confused to find this place, pointing to a wrong location somewhere in the city of Revelstoke, which turned out to be just the official mail box address, not the real location of the hotel. There was no Wi-Fi Internet in the rooms of the hotel.
Review 8:A great location, very close to the Hwy #1. It was a stay in a still beautiful hotel with a palace like lobby. The hotel is used to be a luxurious place about 30 years ago. There was a gorgeous view over the lake next to the hotel. They have a museum of antiques including numerous very interesting exhibits, such as the private rail-road car of Pierre Trudeau. There is a big painted picture of the Titanic ship with a profound story of the tragedy in the pool area of the hotel. The people at the reception explained that the owner of the hotel who passed away about 10 years ago , was a fan of Titanic and he was deeply intrigued by it's mysterious story.
Review 9:Squeazed in by the highway and the railroad it didn't offer any place to go strolling along the lake. The restaurant wasn't any good.
Review 10:Lovely location by the lake.
Review 11:Friendly and very helpful staff. Comfortable quiet rooms. Very good value for money. Gardens beautifuly maintained. Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. Susan and Ken Australia
Review 12:Ended up getting charged more than agreed on booking.com (before taxes etc). The place has everything but could do with a refresh in parts
Review 13:Nice place, great view, great location.
Review 14:The premises ws a little "tired", and could have used more staff, particularly in the restaurant
Review 15:The picturesque setting and adjoining Ghost Town, which was exceptional
Review 16:The only thing missing on a very rainy day was a fireplace in the lobby. Oh, and the chairs in the library were exceedingly uncomfortable.
Review 17:the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the Ghost Town
Review 18:We really enjoyed the setting and lovely grounds at the Chateau. The staff were very pleasant, the food was all good and the room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. We would like to go back when we have more time to explore the historic features.
Review 19:The smell of the sewers we found most unpleasant. The two rooms that we had, whilst as clean as the staff could get them, were very jaded and seriously in need of refurbishment. This should however not prevent people from staying at this Facility.
Review 20:The Location is great, the general appearance and feel of the property was very good. We took the short helicopter ride, even though it had started raining at the time the flight was very good enabling us to have a birds eye view of the hotel and surrounding scenery. The staff were pleasant and attentive in all areas.
Review 21:The view of the lake is beautiful and was the main reason for selecting the hotel. Sadly, the facility is in need of upgrading in all aspects from furnishings to carpets to lighting etcetera. The potential for this property is enormous. In it's current condition it did not meet our expectations and was not good value. Thank you
Review 22:Internet connection wasn't the best.
Review 23:Beautiful setting, staff were friendly and helpful. Ghost town very enjoyable! Lunch in the bar was excellent!
Review 24:I found it pricey for the quaility of the room. It could use some updating.
Review 25:The location was perfect for a stop to see the ghost town and Enchanted forest. The staff were so nice and accommodating.
Review 26:Loved the ghost town, location is beautiful, staff at restaurant were SUPER HELPFUL with my child with celiac disease (and super kind to my child celebrating her birthday!)
Review 27:We waited forever to even be seated at breakfast.
Review 28:Loved the ghost town. They were so nice they let us go for free the next day cause it was later in the evening the first night.
Review 29:Not the hotel but Booking.com. emailed me with an offer to upgrade which I took. Turns out the upgrade was standard so the hotel didnt charge me. What was that about Booking?
Review 30:View fun things to do pool
Review 31:Rooms a little plain but lots of room.
Review 32:Location was great. The history hidden in the 'Ghost town' attached to the property was very interesting.
Review 33:Old and run down, very cut up inside
Review 34:Old and run down great location with nice grounds and ghost town but needs an overhaul, very cut up inside. Has a number of great activities loved the giant checker board and ping pong
Review 35:one staff had an attitude but everybody else were very nice....internet is good but you have to go certain places... not bad at all....
Review 36:Very nice for A Hotel in the middle of nowhere.... lol not bad prices for supper , breakfast and to stay there .... also we visited the ghost town for cheaper 'cause we stayed there......
Review 37:We had not towels in our room upon arriving and phoned the front desk who asked is how many people were staying in our room and we told them four including us and our two children. Eventually when we were brought towels they only brought one set. The bathroom wasn't very clean and the hotel is quite old and carpets threadbare. The pool deck was so slippery our kids couldn't walk alone on it and it really needs a sign to instruct people to not do dives or cannon balls. All in all the staff and good food made it a pleasant experience but between the rooms and ageing amenities I don't think we will stay there again.
Review 38:The staff in the restaurant and gift shop were lovely
Review 39:It had yes air conditioning or microwave in our room. They did have one in common room by pool
Review 40:The location was good for going to the Enchanted Forest but the real treasure was the museum in Ghost Town. You can tell just by attending it their love of the unique history of the railway and local history.
Review 41:Old TV in room with bad colour. No fridge in room. No wifi in room only in designated areas. Saw several spiders. A bar or lounge would be nice there.
Review 42:The lady that managed the kitchen/restaurant was awesome! Same with the ladies in the gift shop. The ghost town was fun.
Review 43:I wasn't crazy about the restaurant atmosphere and décor.
Review 44:I enjoyed the proximity of the tourist attractions, ie Ghost Town, Helicopter rides, boat rental, Skytrek etc.
Review 45:Beautiful location. Even the walk to the restaurant from our room -through an indoor garden complete with miniature gnomes, past a giant checkers board- was an adventure for our kids. The staff were very friendly. It felt like a happy, fun place to stay
Review 46:The cost of the stay was a little high, considering the age of the buildings. The outside was beautiful and the inside was clean but starting to get rundown. Prices in the restaurant were high for the type of meals offered.
Review 47:Location was fantastic. The staff were excellent and friendly. Lots to do onsite.
Review 48:We stood for 10 minutes at the dining hall for breakfast and no one, really, no one even came to greet us. We can't rate the food experience because we actually left and went for breakfast down the road at Revelstoke. Parts of the hotel in the main grounds are looking somewhat tattered and forlorn.
Review 49:The ghost town was an amazing surprise. Could've spent many more hours going through all the displays. The location is truly spectacular and after a while you don't even notice that the TransCanada highway runs past your front door.
Review 50:Hotel felt a little tired with some fixtures looking a bit shabby. Quite noisy with Highway One and the railway closeby
Review 51:Room had a balcony with a lovely view over the lake.
Review 52:very beautiful location and very convenient stop if heading to banff from west. Also there's lots to do in Ravelstoke - the montain, dam, forestry museum, giant ceder board walk, skunk cabbage board walk.
Review 53:I have wanted to stay at this hotel since I was a little girl, fifty years ago. The bright red roof and stunning location beckon you from the highway. The owners have done an amazing job linking a heritage property with modern conveniences. If you have to have a large screen TV, look elsewhere. If you want an experience in a beautiful historical hotel, look here. I disagree that "the food is expensive". I had a chicken Caesar salad and a highball for just over twenty dollars. Yes, there are a lot of children, but it is a beautiful place for children and adults alike. I will be back.
Review 54:Don't trust the taps! Had a shower and got alternately scalded and frozen completely independent on how the taps were turned. Needless to say, our little munchkin got a bath that night instead.
Review 55:Wonderful staff and location. Will definitely be staying again as we visit the Ghost town and local attractions such as the Enchanted Forest. :)
Review 56:Very old and dated, which doesn't bother us except the smell. Had to SLAM the door to close, disrupting other visitors. Our bathroom was terribly dirty.
Review 57:The scenery and outdoor area.
Review 58:The quality of food and service in the restaurant was disappointing. Some local wines were featured on the wine list at $50/ bottle. I would expect this in a high end restaurant but not in a "family dining room". The meals my mother and I had were very underwhelming and although the waitress removed my dinner from the bill, it still didn't make up for the poor quality.
Review 59:The room was comfortable and quiet with a lovely view. The documentary of the property on TV was very educational.
Review 60:The location makes it difficult for WiFi, with very limited TV. Rooms feel dated.
Review 61:The setting is beautiful. Nestled in a canyon beside a lake where nature comes to you.
Review 62:I personally didn't not like the fact that for the price we paid there wasn't even a continental breakfast of some sort, they could of supplied even a discount for a meal at the restaurant would of been nice!No Wi-Fi in the rooms. And indoor pool is way too small for the amount of people the hotel can hold.
Review 63:The location was amazing along side the outside was stunning! The middle garden was just as nice too!
Review 64:The furnishings and decor didn't make it a comfortable stay. There were dead bugs on the carpet which was thankfully dark so managed to hide them. Bed was comfortable enough but sagged in the middle which was not good for two people.
Review 65:Lake view from room was gorgeous. Balcony facing the lake was the saving grace as we did not want to be in the room. However chairs had white powder all over them which got on clothes. Shower pressure was excellent.
Review 66:The location, the pricing of food in restaurants and the activities available at the location, e.g. helicopter ride, kayaking, ghost town, games room, swimming pool etc. Great for a young family.
Review 67:Only down side was the cost if the food at the on site restaurant. Very much over priced.
Review 68:The location was excellent. Being beside the highway did not impact significantly on the noise level of traffic at night-just noisier during the day. The family room was just what was required. It was the helpful staff that suggested the upgrade when I booked.
Review 69:The helicopter ride was cheap, but full of small prints and we ended up not doing it.
Review 70:Great stop between Calgary and Vancouver. The lake was a plus for my 4yo daughter.
Review 71:Tourist trap. Very expensive. Dirty and the building needs cleaning inside and out. Smells musty. Pool is dirty. Needs new furniture and bedding in rooms. Underwear left behind from previous visitors
Review 72:Location and beautiful view
Review 73:Right on the hwy so non stop road noise. Train tracks on other side and they run constant. Helicopter during day and kids running at night.
Review 74:Very scenic and relaxing at times. Enjoyed watching the view from the balcony.
Review 75:This place was once amazing, but is now run down. Its more of a motel than hotel, complete with outdated furnishings, musty smells, and uncomfortable beds. Also, the shower is awful. You will be scalded one second, then frozen the next. When the check out clerk asked me how my stay was, and I told her this, she said, "oh, that's too bad".
Review 76:The location has a tacky ghost town you can visit that is actually quite fun. Also, the property is on the lake, so there are lots of activities, esp for kids, to do.
Review 77:Looked much nicer in pictures. Facilities are dated. Very noisy with highway on one side and train tracks on the other.
Review 78:Friendly staff. Close to Revelstoke.
Review 79:Wait staff were horribly unhappy people, food was undercooked, coffee was Luke warm. Property could greatly benefit from adding air conditioning and wifi throughout.
Review 80:Scenic.
Review 81:No air conditioning. Rooms were old and dingy looking. Bathroom sink was full of scratches and dirty looking. Balcony was not swept. For the amount of $$ the breakfast should have been included
Review 82:The staff were helpful. The view was amazing. The ghostown was very well done
Review 83:It was a little dated.
Review 84:It was a very unique Chateau with lots to do for families either on the lake or in the goest town. Also a short drive from the Enchanted Forest.
Review 85:The restaurant was short staffed. The food was good. My travel mate said the potatoes that came with his breakfast were not good.
Review 86:The entire hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. Not one person without a smile.
Review 87:Dated hotel, bit tired. Catering isn't great - considering how far away from anything you are here.No bar area. And there was a strange smell of sewage wafting through the resort at times.
Review 88:Liked the location, really is a relic of old summer resorts, speaks to a simpler time (think Dirty Dancing). The Ghost town was great - run down, bit like a flea market, but meant we had the unique experience of getting up close and personal with things that would normally be out of reach to the public. Staff were very friendly at the reception and ghost town. The shop/ cafeteria staff could have been more polite.
Review 89:The ghost town was ok, but a lot of displays were haphazardly put together. There seemed to be a lot of junk - a hoarder's paradise. The mannequins were awful and unnecessary. Air conditioning in rooms is really needed. Restaurant staff were nice but not trained well as to how to run the restaurant which resulted in customers being ignored at front of restaurant and long wait times to get in.
Review 90:The location was absolutely beautiful. For families, there was a lot to occupy the kids at the hotel - ping pong, pool, foosball, swimming, kayaking, lake, playground. Food at the restaurant was good.
Review 91:Insulation between the ceilings not that great could hear people above us. Decor getting a little on in age. Could improve the food offerings in quality and variety.
Review 92:Very charming. Looks like the family put a great deal of work into building it into what it is today. The ghost town was amazing and was surprised it was so good.
Review 93:Needs updating. Obvious signs of previous water damage to some ceilings.
Review 94:Value was great. Staff was great. Room we booked was not suitable for our needs so they moved us without a problem. Restaurant prices were extremely reasonable.
Review 95:Ghost Town, Roundhouse & Car Museum were all great. The property is beautiful. The rooms are charming and old fashioned. The location is incredible. Prices for the attractions are all very reasonable, and there are other things to do in the area.
Review 96:Many seniors wanted to tour the old ghost town but found it to large to walk all through it. It would be nice if the hotel provided electric scooters for seniors to tour the ghost town. They could charge an extra $5.00 for the use of a scooter.
Review 97:The grounds in general and the old ghost town tour was excellent.
Review 98:Hotel needs updating. Air conditioning and wifi. More channels Restarant requires a total redo. Stop spending money on ghost town and invest for the future
Review 99:no a/c means sleeping with open window and a fan, which is ok except for the high volume traffic all night that echos between the rock faces of the 'gap'
Review 100:beautiful location, great ghost town, friendly staff
Review 101:Nothing really there that I did not like. Too many bugs. Not a long enough stay.
Review 102:The view. The location was amazing right on the water. Loved it uses both official languages. A must is the ghost town.
Review 103:No air con, dinning room curtains didn't close, our balcony door was bent, bad reception on the t.v. The place needs to be updated Bad attitude when paying bill,we wanted to pay separate cheques and the waitress inside forgot to give us separate bills,so the clerk at the store was giving us grief! The sheets were coming off one of the beds
Review 104:The view, having the lake close by,the museum, food was ok
Review 105:Badly dated hotel. It takes kitche to another level: the pool has a Titanic theme to it...enough said. The beach seemed a prime attraction but was pretty poor. To be fair the room was spacious and clean but showed its age. We tried out the restaurant and everyone enjoyed their meal.
Review 106:The historical park next door was what attracted us to this hotel. We thought I'd be great for the kids which it was (you also get half price admission as hotel guests). The hotel was well located for a break in the road trip.
Review 107:NO AIR CONDITIONING! No WI-FI. I will unfortunately not be staying here again. This hotel is very much over priced for the amenities you get.
Review 108:The view from our room was outstanding!! Having the beach access was awesome.
Review 109:No a/c in the entire place, no fridge or microwave in the rooms. You get a tiny fan in your room to help cool you off which does nothing at 35'. The pool area is not great. They don't even have towels down there for you. The hot tub was too hot to even sit in. The cost of the room does not even include breakfast.
Review 110:The scenery and lake were beautiful.
Review 111:No air conditioning, but it really cools off in the valley at night and there was a fan and if you kept the balcony door open it wasn't an issue.
Review 112:The beds were comfortable, location unbeatable (halfway between Calgary and Vancouver and beautiful spot on the lake) and everything was clean and well maintained. I would stay there again and recommend it to others. We had a 3 month old and they provided us with a playpen for free.
Review 113:I did not like that this site quoted me a total of $124 including taxes and fees and hotel charged me $150 when I got there. I didn't save my eMail for proof.
Review 114:The location and food and amenities. Great sleep!
Review 115:Would have liked air conditioning but our room wasn't hot that night.
Review 116:Loved the ghost town, railway museum and antique cars. Also the lovely lake and creek running through the grounds.
Review 117:It was a very hot day 27+. After a long day of driving with my 7 month old baby I was looking forward to a comfortable evening. There was no air conditioning, only a fan in the room. The rooms are outdated and the tv didn't work. Hoping for some relief we went to the restaurant but no a/c there either. When I asked the server if it was cooler outside or inside she said inside. Well was she ever wrong! I was sweating profusely and my baby was clearly also uncomfortable. We headed to the lake for a quick dip because I wasn't impressed with the pool facilities. Overall I had high hopes for this property but it was below average.
Review 118:Beautiful gardens! Gorgeous grounds are clearly well cared for. Indoor gardens were lovely as well.
Review 119:Price was quite expensive especially considering there was hardly anyone there.
Review 120:Beautiful and majestic surroundings. The hotel itself is very dated but that's what's nice about it. It is a lot more expensive than it should be however.
Review 121:Location , was so easy to find and that had the Ghost Town with theTrain Roundhouse along with the old car museum and gift shop , lovedthat it had elevators, very reasonably priced, great resort.
Review 122:The noise from the highway!!
Review 123:There was alot to like. A friendly staff, clean room, comfy bed and the spectacular view from the balcony. As well there was an indoor pool and the meals in the restaurant are very good.
Review 124:Can't think of anything
Review 125:The over all place is very cool . The setting unreal , ghost town , roundhouse very interesting. And the hotel one of a kind .THANKS
Review 126:The room was old and needed to be upgraded. Plaster in bathroom was bubbling and looked like it was poorly repaired, same in bedroom area. The hallways were musty and needed upgrading. The TV was an old 19" with five or six channels and poor reception. We went for dinner, and although the food was okay the service was poor. There were approximately 40 people in the restaurant but only one waitress on shift. Wait times for food and service were long. I could not blame the waitress as she was run off her feet. She apologized for the service and stated that she was new and that this was only her second shift. We would not recommend this place nor would we stay here again.
Review 127:The hotel is located in a beautiful spot with lovely gardens and a scenic lake view.
Review 128:We can't believe how many times we drove past this "Ghost town" resort and did not stop in. We will certainly stay there again. Staff was very, very friendly, the ghost town and especially the round house were amazing. The scenery is spectacular and we even saw a Rocky Mountain goat on the cliff behind the resort.
Review 129:So outdated, super old fuzzy TV. Wouldn't have minded so much if I didn't have to pay 126 dollars for literally nothing. Stayed at another hotel afterwards got a full kitchen in our room for quite a bit less money.
Review 130:The bed was comfy
Review 131:With no cell service for all networks it was difficult to deal with a family matter at home. At least the pay phone was fairly inexpensive to us.
Review 132:The site is much larger than expected. The front desk staff were superb - knowledgeable and friendly. The room was large and nicely appointed in keeping with the historical theme. The room was very accessible for elderly people as requested.
Review 133:The hotel is a little dated.
Review 134:The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a family run business which means the staff like to give a little extra. The location was fabulous with the Ghost Town next door to the hotel. Beds and room were comfortable, with lovely views.
Review 135:Little bit out of town. Very ordinary restaurant.
Review 136:Lovely location to spend a day or two canoeing or fishing, but we were just passing through. Elaine in gift shop very helpful with local information.
