Reviews for Pacific Shores Resort & Spa

Review 1:Room overall was clean but could pay more attention to detail as black mold at insertions of tub bar.

Review 2:Location provides ability to have quiet and/or sight see within easy driving. Food in dining room well priced and enjoyable Spa is well priced, very clean with friendly well informed staff

Review 3:Our room, standard queen, was essentially a back bedroom to a view condo, without the benefit of any view except directly into the neighbor and the stairway/ landing for the adjoining units. By simply adding additional lighting and a larger TV, mounted inside the cabinet instead of on top at ceiling level our experience could have been greatly enhanced. Of course a "real" view would have been even better !

Review 4:The setting is beautiful - particularly if you have any kind view from your room. The restaurant (independently run) is fabulous - fresh fare and warm, attentive staff.

Review 5:Nothing - we got a great price, lovely room (inlet view which was still beautiful) and it was fully functioning, clean & convenient.

Review 6:We love the location on the ocean but know it's not a sand beach. The outdoor hot-tubs are great winter & summer. Rooms are well stocked and the private master bedrooms are awesome. The adjoining rooms are very convenient if travelling with multiple families (grandparents etc).

Review 7:My biggest complaint about this place is how poor the soundproofing is. We stayed in one of the smaller (B) suites, and could hear everything that was happening in the bigger adjoining (A) suite. Annoyingly so.

Review 8:Love the location of this resort and the beach. Great walking and the point hot tub and bbq area is awesome if it's not busy.

Review 9:Nice big unit (1 Bedroom Deluxe), great view of the grounds and ocean, superior bed and bedding, flat screen TV's with HDMI, great free wifi, well equipped kitchen, jetted tub, two gas fireplaces. We stayed on the second floor and were able to pick fresh kiwi from the vine from one of the two decks our unit had. The appliances were fully functional if a bit dated, not a complaint, just an observation. A home away from home. Nice grounds with a beachside trail on the oceanside of the property. We did not use the spa, gym or restaurant but they all looked good. 10 minute drive to Parksville and the big sandy beaches. We would stay again.

Review 10:Hassle asking for late check out which was asked for at booking time, and the bed was incredibly squeaky.

Review 11:Have stayed before, they have all amenities we like.

Review 12:The Internet was painfully slow. Although I was there for leisure, I was also doing some work the night I was there and it was frustrating trying to get anything done. The walls of the unit weren't totally sound proof and I was able to hear the "goings on" if neighbors at around 2am.

Review 13:Loved the staff and the food in the restaurant was great!! Fair prices for the food too. The waitress we had was very good. Friendly and knowledgeable.

Review 14:No complaints

Review 15:Liked the spacious room. We had a view of the slough that runs to the rear of the complex. The slough is a resting spot for several species of small birds.

Review 16:I should have brought some milk to have with the supplied coffee as there was only coffee mate in the room.

Review 17:The bed was very comfortable and I loved the big bath. The grounds are beautiful. I would have loved to spend more time there.

Review 18:Nothing at all to complain about. Loved it and will definitely be returning in the near future.

Review 19:I loved the family friendly atmosphere and how welcome they staff made me and my family. Didn't get a chance to check out the spa. Hope to next time.

Review 20:The studio room has an odd little deck wedged back and in between its neighbours. Get a 1 bedroom if you can.

Review 21:Room was spotless, high end appearance , comfy bed and lovely soaker tub. Good food reasonably priced in the restaurant.

Review 22:The restaurant does not serve any breakfast. Would be great even if they just had a few items and not a full selection. The tvs in the room could be bigger. The toiletries in the room could include lotion along with the shampoo and conditioner. In the room there is a Kreuge machine and 4 pods, 3 coffee (1decaf), 1 tea. After they had cleaned our room on the second day of our stay they did not replace the one pod that was used. When I told them at the front desk I was informed that we had to pay a dollar for additional pods.

Review 23:The rooms were very comfortable and cozy. The fireplace, love seat, decorating all added to that. The bed was extremely comfortable. Patrick and Brenda who manage the Spa went above and beyond customer service. Would highly recommend a visit to the Spa. Restaurant dinner food was delicious, waitress very friendly, and live entertainment was very good.

Review 24:The bath tub had a lot of moldy tiles and the toilet seat was chipped and discolored (like the finish had worn away because it was so old/frequently used). The only heat source for the main area was a fireplace, but it was broken so it was always a bit chilly. The bed creaked a lot. The check in staff is there until about 10PM so I'm not sure what you would do if you arrive later. Luckily we arrived just in time. I hadn't noticed any sort of mention of that at the time of booking.

Review 25:The staff was friendly and the location, while off the beaten path, was a nice central distance to Nanaimo, Parksville and Coombs. The free wifi was great. I didn't try to stream anything but had no problem using the internet.

Review 26:No ice maker in complex. One free bag ice from front desk. Pay for additional. Warning that Garage had leaks which left spots on car. If you get room in far end of complex, lots of walking & poor view.

Review 27:Gas fireplace heated room very well. Comfortable beds.

Review 28:I don't think there should be a charge for the coffee supply in the rooms after the first day!

Review 29:The water view was lovely and it was so peaceful! Also nice to have a restaurant with sure a beautiful view!

Review 30:No adequate lighting from restaurant on walkway back to room, staff said that they have had this complaint before management is aware. Guests were using cell phone light to guide us.

Review 31:The bubble tub and balcony with view of the water

Review 32:There was a sign saying 'office', we thought that is staff office or something. Drove around the hotel for 10 mins then figured that office is actually the front desk.

Review 33:Room size and decor was very good.

Review 34:1) Don't serve breakfast in restaurant & we weren't warned so had to drive into town 2) Didn't adequately tell us where room was (#243 was on 4th floor in 200 bldg. - wasn't explained) 3) Concealed heavy footboard on bed - shin is still sore and still open wound after 2 weeks 4) Sink wouldn't drain 5) Bathtub dripped 6) Only restaurant had very, very, very noisy rock music 7) Fireplace (electric & a little chintzy) didn't work but was fixed 8) Ice was offered in big bags with no place to store it & no ice buckets

Review 35:Lovely setting in large treed property on the water.

Review 36:Both the bed and the sofa bed require upgrading. Springs in the sofa bed were very evident. The mattress on the bed was hard on the sides and lumpy causing us to deal with achy backs for the two nights.

Review 37:The facility was really nice for the value.

Review 38:It was a nice location away from everything, so ok with a vehicle. Had all the comforts you could want and spacious enough. Good price as after the summer crowds. Should have stayed 2 nights instead of one.

Review 39:the dining room provided my daughter and i with the evening experience i had been waiting for after a week at work and a 21/2 hour drive. food great.service great. dining room and ambience perfect for us. the staff were amazing.when we had problems with our doorlock the housekeeping and maintenance staff couldn't have been more helpful. and our upgrade was AMAZING!!!

Review 40:We came in late, but there was no help from the front desk to make us feel welcome.

Review 41:The staff of the restaurant on site was very friendly. They offered to make us a salad to-go, because the restaurant was closed.

Review 42:Balcony dark & dismal. Restaurant way too expensive for food served. TV was too small. Cheap on the room coffee. There for 4 days and got 2 kuerig pods. No ice machine and freezer too small to hold bag from store.

Review 43:Hot tubs were good. Room very clean and Bed was comfy. Close to everything we needed. End of day good place to relax.

Review 44:There appeared to be a confusion upon checking in as to what we had rented. Booking.com and Pacific Sands should come to a better understanding of what is available.

Review 45:The rooms were well turned out.

Review 46:This last trip was perfect.

Review 47:I really like the rooms, the fireplace, all very cozy atmosphere. Parking is great and the privacy is excellent. Noise level for this stay was almost nil and I got the room I asked for. Thank you.

Review 48:Hit our legs on the bed every time we went into the bathroom. Could you rectify this?

Review 49:We could enjoy a nice dinner without driving. View was wonderful from the restaurant. Great entertainment.

Review 50:No bad experience, only wished there was breakfast in the restaurant, or even a mini buffet, muffins, coffee, boiled eggs included. The TV flipped back to menu a few times. The room was dark, no sun could get in as it was kindof a 'basement' room. But then it probably was the cheapest room you had.

Review 51:I really enjoyed the outdoor hot pools, and the nature walk around the property. It was low tide so that made it even better. I liked the rate.

Review 52:there was not enough david

Review 53:the best part was david from the restaurant. he was my favid. he went above and beyond to provide a great experience. not sure if the restaurant is affiliated but please pass along.

Review 54:I am reaching here; you can't see out the windows of the hot tub on the point. :)

Review 55:The room was spacious , affordable, clean, attractive, quiet, and comfortable.

Review 56:Queen bed was soft and had coil/spring mattress. Very hot - no air conditioning and couldn't even open window as it was easily accessible for entry Location too far to walk to any amenities, too expensive and bathroom very small

Review 57:It was clean

Review 58:Door was open and unit was very cold upon arrival. refrigerator was turned off and had defrosted leaking onto the carpet. Three staffers were informed but nothing done. We turned on frig which functioned ok, but carpet did not dry the two days we were there. Lack of any other food equipment beside frig was problematic. One rickety lugage carrier - was mostly unavailable for the building traffic. No luggage rack in unit.

Review 59:beautiful gardens

Review 60:The walls were paper thin in our room. We heard every word the people next to us said. It was as if they were in the same room.

Review 61:Being near the ocean and the paths around the resort were very nice. We enjoyed the view while we had dinner at the Smoke and Water. The service was great but the food only so so.

Review 62:Would be nice if there were more restaurants on location. We had both the A and B side for extended family. The smaller unit was a bit cramped, so we hung out on the bigger side.

Review 63:Beautiful scenery and room. .

Review 64:We didn't like the fact that the hotel charged our credit card the minute we booked and then pre-authorized another $200 against incidentals when we checked in. As far as we could tell, there were no incidentals which we could possibly have put against. the room. The coffee maker didn't work and the TV was hard to get going. We also disliked the location of our room which was awkward to get at. We've stayed here before but won't stay here again.

Review 65:We enjoyed an evening of live music and pretty good food in the dining room.

Review 66:They overcharged us by over double and we had an issue with their office trying to resolve the issue. Will not be back because of this.

Review 67:Good Value if you are not overcharged

Review 68:we had some trouble with the key cards not working, had to get the door opened for us on several occasions. Also, I wanted a massage but apparently no one on site

Review 69:Overall experience was great. Location on the main floor and near the ocean was also good. had a great time bbqing by the sea

Review 70:Plug in the fancy jacuzzi tub didn't work. Caustic material in parkade putting vehicles at risk of damage. Refund of damage deposit not immediate.

Review 71:A bit remote but quaint.

Review 72:Our fridge was not working, we had to call the reception but the man from maintenance was very efficient and nice. We didn't have the best room for sure as the balcony was a bit hidden by the other rooms and the room was dark. Wifi really slow

Review 73:We liked the hot tubs and the spot for sunset. Free barbecue to use was great ! Room was clean and convenient

Review 74:Canadian flag with a ripped seam was out for over 2 days. No way to get any breakfast food juice etc. Too far away from main shops. Ridiculous price to charge for coffee pods!

Review 75:Good bed

Review 76:Room needed attention. Cable Tv and fridge not working. Bed frame damaged.

Review 77:Nice location. Quiet. Within a few miles of good eateries. Washer/ drier in suite.Good value

Review 78:Room wasn't made up when we returned at 4:00 pm so had to call desk for service which arrived at 5:00. Also some of the dishes weren't clean.

Review 79:Room was a nice size with king bed and comfortable. Bathroom shower was lovely. Pleasant and helpful staff at front desk. Had a wonderful dinner with appies at restaurant.

Review 80:The shower could have been cleaner- beautiful modern fixtures in the building we were in, but there was some mildew in the shower

Review 81:Gorgeous location, friendly staff. The property is located in such a lovely spot, very close to great restaurants and attractions. The condo we were in had a full kitchen and a washer/dryer combo, which was very handy with a 5 and 7 year old on vacation!

Review 82:The web site does not mention the on site restaurant does not serve breakfast. You need to come prepared. However, the suites do have a fridge and coffee/tea machine.

Review 83:Lovely grounds. Great place to stop over on the way to/from Tofino. Well equipped playground and wading pool for young children.

Review 84:The room was dark, dark on lower level and patio was like sitting in a tunnel. River view was like looking through the end of a tunnel. So, hotel description of river view rather misleading. I found bed uncomfortable.

Review 85:Clean comfortable king bed room. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Pizza in restaurant dining room was good and the river view in dining room was lovely. Pool a decent size to even do laps.

Review 86:No bad experience but no breakfast dining room and no means of making breakfast in our unit at least. It means getting into the car and driving in to Parksville which might not be the way you want to start a holiday day.

Review 87:It is a large complex but interestingly laid out with pools, BBQ's , fitness areas and close to the beach. Lovely dining room for dinner overlooking the water.

Review 88:This is a timeshare apartment complex with a few hotel rooms slotted in between and set back in the building with very small balconies. This made our room very dark and limited the view to a narrow strip in between other balconies. There was a nice restaurant on site but it was not open for breakfast. The fireplace was an electric wall fire with artificial logs.

Review 89:Easy drive to the Nanaimo ferry The room was fairly comfortable, with a large bed, television, fridge so it was ok for a one night stay

Review 90:No newspaper available on site. Coffee pods only supplied for first day then had to purchase.

Review 91:Loved the outdoor hot tubs. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Review 92:Walls were paper thin - no soundproofing at all, so we constantly heard our neighbors. Our stay was completely ruined by the lack of soundproofing. The balcony was a joke - it faced a wall and was flanked on either side by the two neighboring suites that extended about 15 feet past our balcony. This also made our room very dark. After the first complimentary coffee in the room, we had to pay for the next three days of coffee. The parking garage was closed, so we couldn't use it. The restaurant was only open for lunch and dinner, so there was no place to eat breakfast unless you drove into the neighboring town. Since it rained while we were there, we wanted to watch some TV - very few of the listed channels could be watched. Also, there was a sign in the room saying housecleaning would be offered only after the fourth day. We really looked forward to our three night stay here, but instead were bothered by room noise and we felt nickle-dimed by the cost-cutting of the amenities. Considering this was a resort and spa, we've had better getaways at two-star hotels.

Review 93:Excellent staff, excellent location. The bathroom was nice and the room was a fair size. The food in the restaurant is very good and again a great staff

Review 94:Would have been nice to have a designated smoking area for those that do smoke rather than having to go off property.

Review 95:Everything! location fantastic! suite was great! friendly staff! View was spectacular! wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 96:The plumbing, our shower drizzled water slowly. The other shower had a clogged drain. The faucet was broken, cold water sprayed everywhere when you turned it on, had to put a towel over it before use.

Review 97:The setting was great, right by the water, good for walks after dinner.

Review 98:The wifi was very slow, and some things were missing from our suite (soap dish, microwave tray, etc)

Review 99:Beautiful setting, large suites, lovely fireplace and heated floors, Free coffee in suite is great! Well kept units - good maintenance. Love the pool.

Review 100:Gym facilities were old and substandard. We would have liked a CD/ DVD player.

Review 101:Great location. Units were modern, everything you needed in a kitchen, nice balcony, and property is right on a rocky shore with footpath.

Review 102:First night a dog barking in the next room Next night a man smoking cigars on his patio. With no air conditioning smoke invades into your living space. was advertised as a smoke and dog free resort . Very Disappointed.

Review 103:Not very young couple friendly, too many kids running around and screaming everywhere which ruined the mood. I felt like I was staying at a giant daycare rather then a resort & Spa

Review 104:The bed was extremely comfortable and big, there was even a jet tub in the suite.

Review 105:We had no water or electricity Aug 29 as we were preparing for a wedding. Rm 246b There was n contact from th front desk or any other backup plans for showers at least. We were with our daufghter and son in-law rm 221b. Also, the bed frame is too big for the mattress and I hurt my leg on it. I was surprised that no papers are available in the lobby or a self serve coffee/muffin/fruit tray

Review 106:Location was lovely. Pool and spa were great. Brunch was good

Review 107:Unenthusiastic front desk experience, Oceanside hot tubs closed , outside patio felt like a concrete bunker, no where to eat breakfast and there is no restaurant in walking distance

Review 108:Quiet

Review 109:The drunkards from wedding and all the cigarette ole out front Also the smell of garbage on side of hotel super strong and gross

Review 110:Location Second floor room with patio Comfort Gorgeous walk around property Good restaurant

Review 111:There is nothing available for breakfast. No restaurant service which we could live without but a store with muffins, snack items, or even a chocolate bar is essential, especially if you take medication requiring food. Also, don't like being charged a dollar each for one Keurig cup. You get a card containing 4 cups. Two coffee, 1 decaf and one green tea. That is it for your entire stay. We paid four dollars so we could each have a couple of cups of coffee the next morning. This would really add up if you stayed longer. For the price of the room and remote location it really felt like they were nickel and diming us. Even a 79.00 motel gives you coffee for your room. Seems petty but when it costs over 150.00/night I still believe you should get a morning coffee in the deal.

Review 112:Suite was beautiful. Great jetted tub. Beautiful location.

Review 113:No air conditioning. Room was like a hot oven at night. Would not stay here again during hot august nights

Review 114:Nice place on the ocean, nice restaurant. Wish the pool was open longer 11pm

Review 115:It is advertize as a spa but there is not spa, ( when we booked it was a spa but revently closed down), there is no place to get breakfest or cofee except a vendig mashone for coffe,

Review 116:Location and staff were great, very peacefull and isoleted

Review 117:Once you have been here, other hotels in Canada will be an expensive disappointment.

Review 118:The best family friendly resort we have ever been to in the world. We used the hot tubs; indoor swimming pool; we got out our SUP boards right in front of the hotel; free use of BBQ as the sun goes down; the list could go on. Our rooms were fantastic.

Review 119:The only thing we'd change would be to extend our stay longer!

Review 120:We'll definitely be back! Loved the jetted tub! Comfort and cleanliness 12 out of 10! We will absolutely refer this resort to everyone!

Review 121:The breakfast buffet is very good. Unfortunately the buffet is set up on tables that are not wide enough to accommodate the hot food trays and are dangerous. They are angled to fit and look good. One tray slid and tilted off the end of the table when the lid was opened. The steaming water spilled out burning a patrons foot. By now the problem has hopefully been addressed.

Review 122:The beds were very comfortable and staff were great. The outdoor rock hot tub was nice.

Review 123:Noisy, try get a top floor unit as if not people above you will be very noisy. Try get an "A" style room as "B" style is like a cave and can be dark. No aircon - not fun during summer. No microwave No kitchenette- have to use slow draining bathroom sink for dish washing...... Cleaning is not done 100%. Certain reception staff (blonde) can be very uncaring and uninterested especially when you complain or offer constructive criticism the comment "at least you have a roof over your head" is not acceptable from a customer service point of view - maybe next time we will find somewhere else that cares more? Laundry only has one washer and has to be booked.

Review 124:Location. Some staff were helpful. Free Parking. Well decorated rooms Good for short stay - would not recommend longer than 2 days.

Review 125:No AC, room had no windows open and bathroom floor heat on full when I arrived. Took several hours to get the air in and then I discovered that the floor heat was on in the bathroom. Floor heat took several more hours to dissipate. By 2am on the first night I could get to sleep. The night time visibility of the room numbers was poor.

Review 126:Great grounds and hot tub options

Review 127:A large burn whole in couch cushion and a stain on the bottom mattress.

Review 128:Suites are huge and appliances and furnishings are modern. Location is right on the ocean and the pool is large.

Review 129:When it came to the restaurant, we had both good and bad experiences. The serving staff were wonderful, but restaurant was poorly prepared for an event the restaurant hosted..and then restaurant management was not at all responsive to the concerns of ridiculously long waits for the food they had advertised (appetizers). And the food itself at the event was poor and overpriced. However, meals that we had in the restaurant (on two other occasions-one was fabulous, one was mediocre at best).

Review 130:price.. too many taxes and an extra for something that i didn't understood..

Review 131:this is a SPA with beautiful village in to the trees, with free yakuzi to the beach...

Review 132:My husband and I and adult son stayed at Pacific Shores for two days. The location is beautiful. We enjoyed walking on the beach at low tide. Our deluxe one bedroom unit had a lovely water view. It was very spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. The kitchen was well equipped with lots of counter space. The jetted bathtub and large shower with good water pressure were appreciated. We enjoyed drinks and appetizers on the patio of the restaurant on site.

Review 133:Restaurant not open till 11:30am this doesn't help for breakfast for young children.. No Gifts hop or spa. Even though many booking sites say they have this. Only good location into Parksville if you drive. If not like myself you are in a predicament when having to feed a young child..

Review 134:Beautiful Property.. Scenery, Pool and amenities.

Review 135:Walking in to the reception greeted no smiles said my name and the reply was oh you are in a B room. No replacement coffee the first morning no cleaning at all .It was approx. 115 per night and I have had much better treatment in a 69 dollar room.

Review 136:Lots of things to do without even leaving the property. Swimming pool, beach etc, I could sit in the outside hot tub and watch the children in the park - bonus!

Review 137:The bed was hard, the bathroom had a musty odour, the sink was extremely slow, and the unsealed pot light over the shower is an electrical hazard (and not to code).

Review 138:Great location on Nanoose Bay, walking trails, wildlife, good restaurant on site. The room was large and had a king-size bed, gas fireplace and jetted tub.

Review 139:The mattress was quite worn in, we really did not like the location of the room to the whole resort as it was very dark. Some of the maintenance in the room was undone. This included the slow draining of the sink, the patio door was broken, and the DVD player was broken. We were also disappointed that the spa had been closed permanently. Cleaning of room is not offered on a daily basis. The walls seem thin...We could really hear other hotel neighbors running, walking above us, and talking around us.

Review 140:The grounds were nice to walk around on, the beach access, the pools, children playground, and restaurant. We also liked the activities and concerts planned at the resort that were available. The housekeeping staff tried to be very friendly and attentive when they were there to clean the room.

Review 141:wood frame building, could hear children crying at night and footsteps above...no airconditioning, way to hot in there in the daytime...furniture old and worn out.

Review 142:excellent view of the ocean and no people traffic in front of the windows.. kitchen was nice
