Review 1：Inefficient staff, unhelpful, incompetent at the reception, unable to speak any foreign language for most of them, unwilling to help or find solution to (even small) problems, or get information requested at the reception. Reception staff even gave us contradictory information a couple of times which created problems. Incompetent staff at the bar, I had to wait almost one hour for 3 drinks (and the guy forgot one), after asking 3 times, and there was no other orders ! Very very poor wifi reception. All that is quite ridiculous for such a hotel. And the keys, electronic cards, were out of order every day, despite staff saying they fixed the problems (5 times....).

Review 3：Almost all : - Cockroachs in the bathroom - Very old, poor equiment, beds very hard - Staff unpleasant and not competent - Very very hot in the rooms, no working clim - Bad breakfast - Room was not cleaned at all at the end of the days ... needed to ask it to the staff when returning at the hotel in the evening ... three hours to wait for someone to clean it.

Review 5：The staff seem very overworked & weary at reception. The hotel is dated, as are the rooms. It's an expensive night for an average room.

Review 6：Location was great in the historic centre. The waiting staff in the dining room were lovely. Breakfast spread was great. There was an in-house tour desk that booked our trip to Lencois de Maharenses. This was helpful as both tourist offices mentioned in our guide book are shut. Room was large.

Review 15：It didnt really feel like a 4-star hotel. Room bathrooms plus hotel corridors and staircases need some serious renovation and/or deep cleaning. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. To go to swimming pool one needs to cross the restaurant.

Review 20：Wifi was slow when I arrived and stopped working altogether the next day. Poor standard of cleanliness. The bathroom floor was still dirty after the maid had made the room and sh had not replaced dirty glasses. Effectively she had only made the bed. I also encountered a massive cockroach in the gym bathroom. The breakfast is more geared towards locals than foreign tourists with a poor selection of breads and spreads

Review 21：Location is excellent basis from which to explore the old town and also to take catamaran to alacantra . The room I had was spacious and it was quiet a nice change from a very noisy hotel on an earlier stay in São Luis. The pool is a great place to relax after sightseeing

Review 26：This hotel is located away from everything except the historic centre- which really isn't a lot to look at. It is just a bunch of old rub done buildings. There is a lot of poverty in the area which made our stay stressful. The wifi in The hotel barely works and the staff don't speak a word of English. Also stay away from the travel agent in reception. We booked a trip to the dunes only to find out a day later that the booking was never made for us.

Review 37：Pool is disgusting... Wouldn't dip my big toe in the putrid water. Breakfast is very disappointing, I asked for a fried egg but this was refused as they only supply watery scrambled eggs. Room was very tired and in need of renovation. The glass doors on the shower were covered in stains that could easily be removed with a bit of scrubbing. The tiles in the shower were also heavily stained. The house keeping here consists of making your bed and exchanging your towels. This hotel advertises facilities which do not exist. There is a sign for the Coffee Shop. In need of a caffeine fix, I followed the signs but only ended up in the regular restaurant. I was told this is the coffee shop. I then asked for a cappuccino but was told they can only make a regular black coffee - to which i could add some milk. Staff were not too friendly and not helpful. This hotel needs to be closed and renovated completely. If I was visiting São Luis again I would stay on the beaches as there are more hotel options which are newer.

Review 38：This hotel reminded me of hotels built in cities in central Africa in the 70s in expectation of vast quantities of business and tourist travelers - who never came. All the necessary bits are in place; internet, room service, poolside bar - but nothing quite works the way it should, even down to the room numbering, with evens and odds being in separate wings ! Staff attitude is variable at best.

Review 70：During my stay, the water stopped and this problem took 6-7 hours tofix, which was astonishing for a 4 star hotel. The Hotel does not havecontract maintainance to a third party company which caused the problemto prolong for many hours. Finally, due to sheer pressure of the gueststhe manager was forced to fix the problem immediately or risk losingguests and it just took 20 minutes! Therefore, the reason for my poorrating of the hotel management
