Reviews for Alt Hotel Toronto Airport
Review 1:The Alt is an excellent overall choice for not only travellers but those staying the night for any reason. They mix green choices with economic viability.
Review 2:I was extremely sick with flu and talking was very difficult. I called the front desk and asked the clerk if they could check for medical facilities in the airport and make me an appointment. The clerk was apparently unable to locate the number. I eventually had to google it myself and make the appointment. Upon check-out, no offer of assistance in getting to the medical centre just "which credit card would you like to use to pay for your stay". Not brilliant customer service I'm afraid.
Review 3:Good, comfortable hotel right on the monorail line. Very convenient.
Review 4:I didn't get as nice of a sleep in the bed as I hoped I would. Not sure if it was the pillows, the bed, or just me but I kept tossing and turning all night.
Review 5:The hotel was very modern and I liked how we could easily catch the train and be in terminal 3 within 10 mins for our flight in the morning.
Review 6:Wi-fi signal was somewhat weak while in room, would occasionally drop.
Review 7:Staff was very courteous and attentive. Rooms have a unique aesthetic different from most other hotels.
Review 8:The older gentleman who served me seemed to have difficulty making change and wasn't very pleasant. All the other staff were helpful and polite.
Review 9:Nice basic hotel with food available 24/7. Good facilities including wifi, cable TV, coffee maker.
Review 10:Reception staff could be more friendly and helpful.
Review 11:great location , the AirTrain just stops outside the Hotel. You just need 10 minutes to reach the airport Hall (perfect for early flights). Downtown Toronto is just 25 minutes away by Train. Super modern and clean room, very pleasant shower ! Would definitely go back !
Review 12:they put us on the pet floor first, where there were several dogs barking.
Review 13:Nice hotel, atypical for airport hotel. Plenty of restaurants in the vicinity.
Review 14:Not a huge problem but you wanted to charge me to park which I was taking the car to the airport the next morning anyway so went ahead and returned it that night because didn't need it anymore. Made less time to enjoy your facility after such a long hard day anyway.
Review 15:Very convenient to tram station for airport. Modern design and décor. Available drink and snack. Safe location in city.
Review 16:No restaurant on site.
Review 17:Comfortable bed & close proximity to YYZ - was able to drop off rental car the night before and take the train link to the hotel and back to the terminal in the morning.
Review 18:The only thing I didn't like was the food choice
Review 19:this is a great location. Room was really clean and so so quiet. I would definitely choose this hotel again.
Review 20:Excellent, clean, quiet, handy for monorail and exactly what we needed prior to an early flight back to Heathrow. Will definitely use again and recommend to family and friends
Review 21:My boyfriend and I love this hotel. In fact, ALT Hotel is our favourite out of all the hotels we've stayed at in Toronto. Even if its is far from the main happenings of the city, we still don't mind driving to the hotel's locations. It is modern, clean, bed is so comfy and the staff are very friendly.
Review 22:Never received the early morning call I requested. Turned out to be a non-issue as the bed was far too soft and I was unable to sleep anyway.
Review 23:Convenient location. Good price.
Review 24:Little bit thin on staff, but they were all lovely. Room was a bit dark due to a burnt out light.
Review 25:This is a true airport hotel. We had an early flight and stayed the night before. We were at the check in counter in 10 minutes from leaving our room. The free airport train is a 3 min walk. Bed was very comfortable and the only reason it is 3* is due to lack of restaurant, but is better than most 4* around.
Review 26:The shower in the washroom was leaking onto the floor. Not the end of the world, but my only problem with the room.
Review 27:The suite was very clean. Very focused not too little or too much space.
Review 28:Easy to find and get to for a tired overnight traveler. Staff answered phone pleasantly and were helpful. Check-in and check-out staff were pleasant and efficient. Clean, well set-up rooms.
Review 29:We arrived very late and were checked in quickly. We purchased some healthy snacks at a reasonable price from the cafe. We were then able to take the luggage cart from the airport right into our room, which was very convenient. The great black out blinds allowed us to sleep until almost noon. Staff called at 12.30pm and offered a late check out, which was appreciated.
Review 30:Staff weren't particularly warm and friendly (except for receptionist on check-in), but still polite and in the morning it seemed like they were pretty short staffed for the shop and reception (even though I could here staff talking from staff-only area).
Review 31:The room was beautiful and modern with fantastic amenities and the shower was brilliantly powerful. The shop downstairs was very useful.
Review 32:Staff very friendly Wanted a cooked meal but as they did not provide these facilities we took the free train to the airport and ate there and also found our way so we did not get lost early in the next morning. On our return we got a great salad drink and ice cream from their café and it was very fresh. I think it would be better to pay for the hotels before you go as we had to pay a further $19.37 in taxes on top of the room price of $149.00. We booked another hotel and paid before we went and did not have to pay any extra. Great choice if you need to stay near the airport.
Review 33:great friendly staff, spotless modern hotel, easy airport access, cheap bar between r and 7pm, for the aviation enthusiast, rooms 710 810 910 1010 1110 1210 are best with windows on 2 sides, the higher the better, 1 queen size bed
Review 34:clearer airport signage would be helpful
Review 35:Great place to spend a night with easy access to food/drink/gym. Liked that the décor is not generic hotel room.
Review 36:Breakfast is ok but not great.
Review 37:Landed at midnight after travelling 24 hours and this place saved me the hassle of travelling all the way into town before I could get some rest. Comfy bed, great staff.
Review 38:Super convenient at the airport, modern and contemporary concept hotel. Really nice staff, especially Tony! There is no restaurant but a simple cafe so you can buy milk, cereal, fruit, coffee. It's a great place for transit or a short stay and very good wifi too.
Review 39:There is no restaurant on site and the limited selection of food was disappointing. They do not offer room service.
Review 40:The bed was particularly fantastic. The hotel has a great aesthetic, the staff were well informed and helpful, and the proximity to the airport makes it a highly desirable choice!
Review 41:The bathroom lacks privacy, what is the point from leaving the bathroom door with out a lock? I don't want my daughter to hear me going to the toilet. what were they thinking.
Review 42:Clean , new place
Review 43:Quietness at an airport hotel is Really important, and when served with superior design. comfort and aesthetics, simplicity of user experience when you are tired and grumpy, this truly delights.
Review 44:Great design hotel, 5 minutes from the Airport, Skytrain stop there. Top quality, modern, clean, comfortable, sound protected, great facilities (bar, gym etc.)
Review 45:Door to the bathrooms are stupid, campers toilet, the hole place looked nice, but seems like it was covering up cheap constitution. I could see concrete on the walls and you have to pay for parking.
Review 46:Not a bad experience as such, just would have liked a proper restaurant but then I guess that would make it more expensive.
Review 47:Bed super comfy. Blackout curtains that work. Beautiful bathroom, decent toiletries, real glasses in room, not plastic wrapped in more plastic. Coming out of Skytrain Viscount and hotel right there made me so happy.
Review 48:There weren't many facilities, and the food was pre-packaged, nothing made fresh, and a bit overpriced.
Review 49:The queen beds were super comfy, cleanliness was great.
Review 50:Could have done with complimentary coffee or similar in the lobby.
Review 51:Comfortable, well-laid out, very European in its styling. The bed was amazing--I had to check in after a long, long flight delay, and I passed out within minutes of hitting the bed. Exactly what I needed.
Review 52:The "grab and go" bar was a little expensive but considering proximity to Pearson it made sense from a market pricing aspect, my wallet doesn't like that however.
Review 53:Excellent service, great room layout, very convenient location.
Review 54:Billed for a mystery amount on my debit for $25. No idea what it is for. Not very nice. Watched a person at the front desk turn away an upset old man trying to book a room by paying cash because he didn't have a credit card. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I would likely not stay again in your hotel if that is truly your policy.
Review 55:We made our reservation here as a very convenient 1 day layover stay before a flight to Marseille from Toronto. We ended up thinking this is an outstanding hotel. For Canada travel, if there is an Alt hotel nearby, that's where we'll stay. The modern design and furnishings are notably thoughtful in execution. This is not a luxury hotel in the sense of thick rugs and brocade draperies. It is a luxury hotel in the quality of design for visitor comfort. This goes for public areas too. We had an 8pm flight, so even after a late checkout we spent several comfortable hours in the lobby reading and eating/drinking selections from the self serve cafe. Location was superb for us. Free tram service delivered us to terminals 1 and 3.
Review 56:Great property, great location - easy to get to the airport without taxi. Love the rooms - someone finally created a room that makes sense not only for a guy but for a female traveler. Love the bathroom and the room itself. Great design - clean, ergonomic and pleasant. Great bar and decent food selection for a limited service hotel.
Review 57:The room was great and it was a little larger than I expected! I liked the modern look of the room and the hotel interior! It is close (2 minute walk) to the airport train system which is very convenient!
Review 58:I was not able to connect my machine via WiFi in my room. I was able to use the machine in the lobby.
Review 59:Close to the airport monorail to and from was great; did not have to wait for the shuttle or taxi.
Review 60:No nearby places to eat though there is a take out cafe in the lobby, it was a little overpriced.
Review 61:The bed was extremely comfortable and the hotel very clean, It was close to the airport and easy to get to.
Review 62:Good choice for a long layover in Toronto. Connected to the airport terminal shuttle. Sandwiches, pastries, and salads at the hotel bar are reasonable.
Review 63:- the $4.00 for a 0.5L box of water in the kiosk in the lobby was a little extreme
Review 64:+ easy to get to from every terminal using the airport shuttle train + Rooms were quiet. despite being close to a road
Review 65:Best airport location. The monorail goes directly from terminal 1 and 3 to the hotel's stop. Cannot beat this location -- especially if you get bumped from your flight and need to stay in Toronto unexpectedly.
Review 66:No gym or real restaurant
Review 67:Airport hotels don't need to be boring - love the lobby of this one with great zones for working or just hanging out. The rooms are modern and really comfortable beds - which you need before a flight! Nice to be connect to the airport by shuttle train.
Review 68:I had an overnight layover and decided to stay at the Alt because of the location and price. The hotel is located just minutes away from the terminal via the link train making it a convenient choice for my layover. The room was modern and clean and the bed was ultra comfortable. I really have no negatives about my experience.
Review 69:We did not have any issues, we found the breakfast on the expensive side but as grab and go I guess it works.
Review 70:Hassle free check in, bed very comfortable, convenient location for air travel, staff very friendly and helpful
Review 71:rooms looked neat, but were a bit cheap in terms of fixtures. Bathroom door wouldn't close, elect switching was one switch for almost all the lights in the room, no individual control of lighting, that was very annoying
Review 72:simple check in/out, good bar and food
Review 73:no restaurant. Staff did not mention about the breakfast or where it was served.
Review 74:The location to the airport, train to hotel and the rooms are very comfortable.
Review 75:Have to go outside from the airport tram system to get to the hotel. No problem in June, but January may be different.
Review 76:A very modern, clean place with quick access to the airport tram.
Review 77:Food selection limited and very expensive! Why is it the more you pay for a room, the less included amenities there are?
Review 78:Location. Perfect for a connecting flight!
Review 79:Lack of good selection of snack foods on the evening we arrived.
Review 80:Friendly staff, super comfortable beds, convenient location for between flight stopover. Airport train(free) brings you to within a few steps of the front door.
Review 81:Fire alarm went off at 5 am due to dead batteries... Stayed on for fifteen mins...eardrum rattling shrieking! Staff had to source a ladder so took awhile to defuse. I suggested regular battery changing schedule not sure how they do it but alarms are not wired and a twelve foot ceiling location makes them hard to turn off need a ladder...responsive after the fact but I was one tired traveller.
Review 82:the 24 hr food bar downstairs is good for take-away, but if you're feeling under the weather it's not the best set up. NO FRUIT available, and if you can't or shouldn't have breads or grains, you'll be out of luck finding much else on offer. They do have boiled eggs, little veggie pkgs and hummus/crackers.
Review 83:The place to stay near Pearson. Quiet, comfortable, relaxing. Helpful staff.
Review 84:There is no restaurant. If you want to eat something decent the only choice is the Sharaton nearby. The same for breakfast. the hotel offers a few things, self-service style.
Review 85:Proximity to airport
Review 86:Instructions on operating heating cooling unit need to be clearer. Room was very warm and I could not get temperature down
Review 87:Proximity to airport with shuttle
Review 88:- perfect transport situation with the airport train - very good infrastructure (wifi, bar, snacks, etc.); for a meal (e.g. steak) there are restaurants nearby (walking distance or with the airport train)
Review 89:They do not provide proper meals. But you can get the monorail to the Sheraton to eat but expensive.
Review 90:Great hotel right by the airport and you can get the monorail from hotel to the terminal brilliant. Modern spacious room.
Review 91:The location! Easy to walk to the terminal link, and a quick walk outside to the hotel. Friendly staff at 10pm. Great room with large bathroom, and comfortable bed. Had a nice glass of wine in the cafe area. Food choices were okay, but we just wanted something light. More affordable than the Sheraton!
Review 92:The staff at Alt were very helpful and friendly. It made waiting an entire day for a flight home very comfortable. The Wifi was strong (after returning from Mexico, this was a pleasure).
Review 93:Wish they had a day rate for stays under 6 hours regardless of what time of day your flight arrived. Small complimentary breakfast to go would have been appreciated.
Review 94:Beautiful esthetic, ultra modern but so comfortable, very quiet, very dark...like walking into a perfectly designed hotel in Hong kong, but you're in Toronto.
Review 95:The cost of my room for a four hour stay was a little pricey - this was due to my very early arrival back in TO. However being too tired to drive home the Alt was was a safe and very comfortable rest over.
Review 96:The convienience of the Alt hotel completed my vacation in comfort. The staff was very friendly even with my very early (2am) arrival time! They were helpful and efficient.
Review 97:If you need to stay at or near the airport, arriving late, this is a great choice. They don't serve a "dinner" as everything is basically boxed food, so to get a dinner, you need to spend $15 to take a cab to a restaurant.
Review 98:no full service restaurant on premises. Only microwave meals. No restaurants within walking distance
Review 99:The staff, the modern decor, walking distance from airport. Nice bar
Review 100:No complaints!
Review 101:Location was excellent, amenities were great (as with all ALT locations) located within minutes of Pearson via the viscount station train. Great hotel
Review 102:Wish it had a restaurant, our flight got in later, we arrived at the hotel around 1030pm, microwaved or warmed up food was not what we had expected.
Review 103:Great stopover hotel, excellent accommodations, clean very modern, minimalistic.
Review 104:Our room was incredibly stuffy despite it being a frigid -23 degrees outside. Although we turned on the A/C, it only managed to get the room down to 19 C instead of a comfortable 15 C. The windows are sealed shut. We were unable to sleep because of the heat (and how ironic, given that Toronto was undergoing a cold snap).
Review 105:Spacious bathrooms, comfortable beds, easy access from the airport.
Review 106:Nothing negative to say at all. Very enjoyable stay.
Review 107:Very convenient location with easy access to the airport. The hotel was practical with everything that we needed right onsite. The bed was very comfortable with a warm comforter.
Review 108:Walkway in would be good in the winter. Would like more food options. I flew into the airport and out again early in the morning. I didn't want to go back to the airport for supper. It was ok re breakfast but a light supper (healthy and not stale would be good.
Review 109:I like the Alt hotel - good location, price point, and nice design features. It feels clean and comfortable.
Review 110:Cafeteria style food and lack of comfortable place to eat. Was planning to book another room on my return flight however didn't because there wasn't a traditional restaurant
Review 111:Bedding and spacious room
Review 112:Too Eurostyle for my liking. Low quality furniture and plumbing. Room seemed like a good value at $100 but had no idea parking would only be available some distance away for $50 per night. Unpleasant surprise.
Review 113:New hotel with long walk access to airport.
Review 114:Parking was across the street, honestly not the worst thing but a little inconvient when unloading and loading the car.
Review 115:Loved the space of the room, the beds were amazing as we're all the linens, something I'm extremely picky about due to my sensitive skin. The staff was more than accommodating to mysel and my group. We were peeping before a national exam and were extremely stressed, the staff and facility made us feel relaxed and helped us with anything we needed.
Review 116:A block-long walk outside between train and hotel might be a negative for some, but is fresh air for me.
Review 117:Very convenient; just take the elevated train from the terminal.
Review 118:I was on my way from Winnipeg to Tampa having a stop in Toronto with plans to bring in the New Year in Florida . I was delayed at immigration causing me to miss my connection and was booked for a flight the next morning, An airline employee at the ticket counter suggested The Alt hotel. I found my room extremely comfortable ..especially the bed and enjoyed tasty eggplant parmesan in the hotel bar ! The staff were very pleasant . I got a great rest and able to continue my travels on New Year"s day. I liked that there was coffee in the room and the location so close to the airport .
Review 119:Proximity and ease of accessing airport. Comfort and cleanliness were superb; and staff solicitous and friendly. Reminds me of so many boutique hotels in Europe.
Review 120:I am a frequent guest at Le Germaine hotels and was expecting the same at ALT since they are owned by the same company. I stay in many hotels and enjoy a night of in room dining (room service from a restaurant) and a good movie as I never get this opportunity. Neither were available....I am sure many guests would enjoy this type of hotel but not me, I enjoy a much more luxurious stay when I travel and much more relaxation.
Review 121:Need wider food selection in the grab 'n go, fitness room is more of a fitness closet.
Review 122:Staff are great, easy to get to from the airport, rooms are nicely appointed, HOT water in the showers
Review 123:The bed was very comfortable, but I personally prefer a harder bed.
Review 124:We wanted a place to crash after a long flight, and this place was perfect for that. Super fast and easy to get to using the free airport Link train, lovely lounge, friendly helpful staff, quiet. Yes, quiet even so close to Pearson.
