Reviews for Grand Hotel Praha

Review 1:Food was a bit average but it was off season.. Bit cold also but again not a big deal at all.

Review 2:Lots of character and similar to the Grand Budapest Hotel if anyone has seen that film... Great staff and great Art Deco look. Jicin is def worth a visit.

Review 3:noisy! on some nights we "enjoyed" the singing and shouting of drunk people leaving the pub next to the hotel.

Review 4:The hotel is in a great location and has plenty of parking on the street next to it. We stayed in room 23- the two bedroom suite. it is great room for a family or two couples. The living room is big and has a 50 inch flat screen TV. The WIFI worked wonderfuly.

Review 5:We stayed in Jicin for the near-by Cesky Raj castles and hill walking - the hotel is well placed for all the major sites. After a long day hiking the hotel's spa is a must-do! You hire the facility for exclusive use - Set over three levels there's an excellent basement pool (1.8m deep) with adjacent bathroom, 1st floor sauna, jacuzzi and bath and then a top level wooden recliner and mini-bar set-up... cold beer in the jacuzzi... nice. The staff were all very attentive and the hotel's bars (wine, beer hall and veranda) all served good food and excellent beers

Review 6:We have stayed at almost 25 places in the Czech Rep and this was the only one to charge for bicycle storage. The restaurant was abysmal (both food and service) for a 4* hotel and we had to pay our restaurant bill seperately. The website mentions a fan in the room but none were available.

Review 7:Well decorated

Review 8:The internet on the days we slept there was very problematic .

Review 9:We got a very big room. The private spa with the pool with jet current and the jacuzzi and sauna is great !! One of a kind the kids loved it ! Also the restaurant food is great but be patient as it might take long to get the food but worths the wait !

Review 10:It's expensive considering the location in a small town in the Czech Republic. I could have accepted the price but for the following: The staff have absolutely no personality or understanding of service, the simplest requests were met with sighs. Unhelpful is the kindest description I can provide, but rude and clueless is more apt. Marian at reception and the cleaning lady were the exception. We booked a suite but had to pay 13 Euro per night extra for a cot for our 2 year old......seriously??? You book a suite and have to pay extra for a cot for a 2 year old, ok, maybe.... but 13 Euro per night in the Czech Republic! robbery. Use of sauna etc was also extra.

Review 11:Jicin is a nice town.

Review 12:breakfast should be more genereous and varied and should be offered on the beautiful terrasse as well / terrible coffee /

Review 13:Room luxury / nice host / basement tavern and wine bar / outside terrasse / cleanliness and unique cachet of this historical hotel / well renovated with modern bathrooms / central location close to bus and train stop / great hiking close by ( 15 min bus)

Review 14:You have to pay restaurant bill separate from hotel. Nearly embarrassing moment as we amidst left without paying our dinner bill.

Review 15:Friendly staff. Room and hotel decor.

Review 16:- Everything was perfect

Review 17:- perfect locality in the city center - parking right next to the hotel - best beer in a very authentic Czech pub in the hotel - nice wine bar in the hotel - beautiful interiors in the room, bathroom - thematic rooms and individual hotel floors

Review 18:the coffee at breakfast was terrible, I really do not understand they serve this in a hotel which is so good in everything else.

Review 19:It is a great hotel on a great spot!

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:The room was amazing. I could not find fault with hotel. We paid for private parking on street outside hotel but there appeared plenty of free parking arojnd the corner.

Review 22:Close to Prague and other areas of interest in Northern Bohemia. English speaking staff at reception. Good restaurant, friendly staff. Themed suites provide a novel experience. Great restoration work.

Review 23:pillows are too flat noise from the street travelled to our room, making it difficult to sleep

Review 24:beautiful art nouveau decor very clean perfect location

Review 25:Smell of cigarette in the room and other dependencies.

Review 26:Charming hotel, makes you wonder how life was back in the 30's. It's beautiful and comfy. The hotel's restaurant serves good Czech meals for an excellent price.

Review 27:we were woken up early in the morning by rubbish collection and a bit later by some weird alarm testing (town-wide, not from the hotel) pool needs to be booked in advance and paid for

Review 28:very comfortable hotel

Review 29:No air conditioning or ceiling fans results in uncomfortable sleeping conditions when sumertime temperatures are above +25C.

Review 30:Location is excellent, staff is very friendly, decent breakfast, large rooms, the hotel itself is in a very nicely renovated historic building. Hotel restaurant restaurant and bar also very good.

Review 31:Very beautiful hotel, after reconstruction, very nice rooms, bathrooms, in the very city centre, good breakfast and very tasty meals in the restaurant. Just perfect. We only did not have enough time to try wellness

Review 32:Noisy nights because of the fact that our windows were situated in the back side of the hotel were is outdoor restaurant which is open at weekends till 12 p.m. Unregular cleanup the rooms (1/3 days). Ours towels never been changed during our 3 days stay.

Review 33:Confortable equimpment of rooms (bed, bathrooms).

Review 34:"Slow" service at the restaurant, but very good food.

Review 35:Comfortable and cosy rooms. Fantastic Emperor's Bath. Superb traditional Czech beer and wine cellar.

Review 36:two single as a queen bed

Review 37:price

Review 38:nothing

Review 39:Loved the style of the Hotel, had the junior suite which was spacious and great value

Review 40:Pity that there is no air conditioning for such hot weather...

Review 41:Very nice style of hotel, lovely bed room ,good restaurant

Review 42:This is a classic, old hotel right in the middle of town. Lots of character.

Review 43:There was no fan (ventilator) in the room, even though it was written that ventilated room. Vi network-fi was very weak.

Review 44:Staff is rude and does not make you feel welcome. I definitely do not recommend this hotel.

Review 45:Hotel itself is quite nice

Review 46:The restaurant meals could use some refinement

Review 47:Our experience was great, the hotel met all our expectations.

Review 48:Breakfast not great.

Review 55:unsatisfactory wellness centrum

Review 56:nice rooms, excellent food, great location

Review 57:Caesar spa, the wellness.

Review 58:Everything

Review 59:Nothing. Just great.

Review 60:Caring staff, restaurant, lovely room, convenient location, decor, and history.

Review 61:Rooms could be refurbished as they are quite old and a little bit dated.

Review 62:Staff very helpful, opened restaurante as we had arrived late. Great buliding, very traditional.

Review 63:The guys at reception were very helpful and friendly. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious and very clean. The bed was also very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent as well and all in all this was one of our best hotel experiences ever. We already plan to return sometime next year.

Review 64:Very romantic hotel in the middle of a beautiful town. Excellent and sensitive renovation in art nouveau style. Full of history, excellent food, great service.

Review 65:A bit out of the world receptionist - f.e. she has forgotten to give back our IDs - we lost one hour coming back ...

Review 66:Very nice atmosphere, good localization, nice rooms

Review 67:Noise from the street, mostly people (drunk or sober) having loud conversations at all hours. Lack of air con which meant that either you kept the window closed and sweated or opened the window for the noise. Room was not properly cleaned or made up once during four days - chambermaids knocking on the door in the early evening, while I'm having a shower are not useful.

Review 68:Magnificent building, wonderfully restored. Very friendly staff, even those who could not speak English or German.

Review 69:By far the best place we ever stayed in. the hotel is amazing. Not just its decoration and location which are perfect, this place has its own soul. the owner of the hotel presented us the hotel by himself and told us everything about the history of the place. Highly recommended to eat at the restaurant and it is a must thing to drink the beer at the at the hotel's tavern. (fresh Pilsner Urquell).

Review 70:It is really rarely to meet such a wonderful staff in a hotel. Both reception and restaurant have been fantastic in assistance, help and so kind. Kitchen is excellent. This is the palce to stay in Jicin!

Review 71:If I had to find some minus in this hotel, it would be the restaurant. The breakfast was OK but the quality of the meal during lunch was just average. The hotel restaurant lags behing the overall outstanding impression of the hotel.

Review 72:This hotel was perfect. Jicin is a lovely town and this carefully renovated Art Noveau hotel warmed the cockles of the heart. I must congratulate the owner for meticulous renovation of the hotel, all details fitted. We asked for the room with nice view and we got corner room with three windows. Receptionist was amiable and very helpful. I stayed in some other Art Noveau hotels in Prague or in other places but this place was the best. And a whole lot cheaper.

Review 73:For the price, this is probably the very best hotel we have ever found in our travels across the whole of Europe. Thoughtfully, tastefully and well decorated throughout; spacious and comfortable rooms; clean and in a great state of repair; and serves excellent breakfasts. Also has a super private spa and a stylish cafe and restaurant on site. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Well located both within Jicin and for exploring Cesky Raj.

Review 74:A truly excellent hotel in every respect.

Review 75:There should be more lamps in the room.It is quite dark

Review 76:Everything except the lighting
