Reviews for Homeport Historic B&B

Review 1:Fantastic views across St John harbour. Nice half hour walk along harbourside footpaths into town centre. Personal service from very friendly owners. A lovely place to stay for 2 or 3 days.

Review 2:Owners not friendly. Did not meet the Mrs. No different in that respect from a hotel. Hotel has more amenities for the moneyl

Review 3:Tv room separate from bedroom.

Review 4:We'd certainly stay here again if we returned to St John.

Review 5:Lovely Inn. Large public spaces. Our top floor Crows Nest was a suite - large sitting room with kitchenette, huge spa-tub bathroom (with shower too), and comfortable bed in room with fireplace. The widows walk room on top of the roof is an amazingly sunny and quite spot to sit and read - or dream. Breakfast was delicious!! and the talented owner/chef prepared each dish to order in a kitchen area at one end of the dining room. We also truly enjoyed our dinner at Britt's Pub! (Note - add the word "Avenue" when entering the street address for this place, as GPS will default to "Street" and direct you to a dead end street several blocks away.)

Review 6:No bad experience but a couple of notes: wifi in the room didn't work, the sofa in the sitting room was not really comfortable and the Inn is accessed by stairs to the main floor and guest rooms so not suitable for those with disabilities.

Review 7:Loved the building, the history behind it and the host, who was helpful, warm and delightful. Location was excellent - great views and right off the highway and close to shops and restaurants and the ferry. We left too early to enjoy breakfast but were offered coffee and "to go" containers with lovely fruit salad and bagels, etc. very accommodating!

Review 8:Not a thing.

Review 9:Not our first stay and certainly not our last. The comfort, the elegance, the history, the modern conveniences, the wonderful staff, the scrumptious breakfast, and the deep soaker tub delighted all the senses. I love everything about this B & B. It is one of my favourites in Canada. It is as much a must see as the Hopewell Rocks or the Reversing Falls. This is a travel destination in itself.

Review 10:Staff, food choices, meal presentation. Rooms(we stayed there twice). Knowledgeable staff, eager to recommend things to see and patient with all our questions.

Review 11:Many steep steps up to our room presented a physical challenge, but also added historic charm to the house.

Review 12:The historic house was awesome. Ralph told us the story of its original construction and its innovative reconstruction after he and Karen became the owners. Both Ralph and Karen were very friendly and almost animated as they very thoroughly entertained us. Breakfast cooked by Ralph was great, along with his storytelling. Karen spent time with us while we were dining and made sure to meet our every need.

Review 13:Suggestion put coffee maker in rooms for tea or coffee later in the day or evening.

Review 14:Friendly staff and owners! Close to main attractions. Lovely home and room!! Felt very welcome !

Review 15:The hosts, the cook, the room, the view, the location, pretty much everything

Review 16:All good....

Review 17:Large, comfy room. Ralph and Karen were great! Delicious breakfast and friendly guests.

Review 18:Excellent breakfast served by the host. Nice room and bathroom.

Review 19:I enjoyed the history of the house, the informative host, the proximity to town and the wonderful breakfast.

Review 20:The Victorian décor.... Very homey and comfortable not sterile like most modern hotels.

Review 21:Bedrooms looking a bit tired

Review 22:Easy to walk into city.

Review 23:it was raining

Review 24:everything

Review 25:Interesting history goes with the two joined houses. Hosts friendly.

Review 26:Wonderful view of harbor from veranda room. Exellant breakfast.

Review 27:B&B or small hotel retains all the charm of the original properties (now joined), but has clearly been updated to the modern era. Standard room is generously sized and beautifully decorated. Breakfast is served in a lovely room with staff available to custom make the cooked item and clear the tables. Fresh baked cinnamon rolls, fruit salad, cereal, juice, and more were offered. Staff are welcoming and very helpful

Review 28:Our room was just okay. The bedspread appeared to be old and the window by my bed was moldy and ill-fitting. The carpeting needed to be replaced. The room had an overall feeling of being tired.

Review 29:Ralph, the owner was very helpful and friendly. His staff were accommodating and pleasant. The rooms where patrons could gather were well done with interesting art and antiques.

Review 30:Very short walking distance to the old town center. The ownwers were very friendly and gave us some useful information about where to eat and what to visit. Georgous house, nice room with all amenities like hair drier. We could decide which room we liked.

Review 31:The Homeport B&B is a beautiful, clean, heritage house that is a great place to stay in Saint John. Ralph and Karen are wonderful hosts and served the most delicious breakfasts!

Review 32:Stayed here for one night on the drive over to Nova Scotia and really enjoyed our stay. Lovely historic house with sizable rooms and gracious, friendly owner. Highly recommend!

Review 33:Some of the things in our room/suite were a bit run down, but I suppose that is part of the "charm" of staying in an old home.

Review 34:The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. They guided us with directions and places to see and do in the area. The buildings were historical and very interesting. All in all, we had a great time.

Review 35:wifi reception very poor

Review 36:hosts very knowlegable and friendly, gluten free choices, great location from ferry terminal, it is more of a stopover than a destination,St John a very industrial city.
