Reviews for The Lonsdale Quay Hotel
Review 1:There seemed to be a fair anount of construction like noises in the morning. We weren't sure if that happens all the time but it won't keep us from staying there again.
Review 2:Great location! So convenient to local shops and transit and the view from our suite was gorgeous.
Review 3:The room wasn't very clean on our arrival.it was a good value for the location and availability of the shops, we would prefer a hotel that provided breakfast. The availability of a mini refrigerator and microwave was helpful. I would prefer white bed covers or duvet and pillow covers. Therefore we would know the cleanliness of the linen.
Review 4:Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 5:Vancouver rainy December weather, The hotel was great
Review 6:Great,off season price are more than great, 15 minute of ferry for Downton vancouver, and North Vancouver is beautiful itself. Clean and large room, with great services, best hotel in Vancouver
Review 7:The young men on the desk at night were somewhat circumspect, but tried to help me when I requested help (just not very friendly).
Review 8:The young women on my second day were very helpful.
Review 9:This hotel is a great location to visit Vancouver City and all the attractions in North Vancouver. Public transport is located right below the hotel and there is a huge variety of foods from around the world in the indoor market under the hotel. Great value for money for a beautiful room
Review 10:We did not love the breakfast in the restaurant on the next morning.
Review 11:We booked last minute and had been on the hi way with the closure for a long time. The front desk made it very simple to check in and was accommodating to our needs for the next day.
Review 12:The quality of the beds was poor, very difficult for senior's with poor backs. The front desk staff were very distracted on their " tasks" and had little time to interact upon check in ( we were the only ones checking in, so shouldn't have been daunting!)
Review 13:The shower was little dirty and could have used aome more cleaning. I also wish they would have a late check-out . the latest check out I was able to get was 11:30 and if you are down town till 2 in the morning exploring than that checkout time will kill you.
Review 14:The location is amazing you are right next to everything in North Vancouver but you are also right next to the Sea Bus and can head to downtown Vancojver
Review 15:We came in by bus and had troouble finding the hotel because there was no signage. We were directed to the Market and walked to the back of it and there was the entrance to the hotel. I don't think that would have been a problem if we had come in by car.
Review 16:The location is excellent. Everything you need is within walking distance and the seabus is right there to take you to the cruiseship terminal and downtown Vancouver. We were not too excited about the location of the room we were assigned and they quickly moved us to another location. Very pleased with the service.
Review 17:The only two drawbacks were 1. that we were right over the marketplace so when your window was open the smoke and noises from the people below came in the room, and 2. The parking is not included and totals $20/night which adds up over the week.
Review 18:Excellent location at the top of the Quay Market. Close to everything and lots of food choices in the market. Loved being able to walk everywhere from the hotel. Gorgeous view of the water and downtown Vancouver.
Review 19:couldn't find the parking for the hotel because it did not specifically state: "Lonsdale Quay Hotel parking". It only said "hotel parking". So, which hotel?
Review 20:convenience...our convention was in the hotel itself
Review 21:The shower seemed a bit old but I could hardly complain about it.
Review 22:This hotel had the best hotel staff I've ever encountered. They were always welcoming and friendly.
Review 23:Place feels a little tired. The bed pillows are very lumpy. Some mold in the grout of the shower....but great for the price and location.
Review 24:Great location over the Lonsdale Market and the Quay.
Review 25:I had to phone to the front desk as one of the lamps was malfunctioning. It had a cord with a control on it, to turn the lamp on and off. When you turned it on there was loud crackling and sparking. The staff came and took it away and brought another one the next day.
Review 26:The front desks prompt answers and solutions.
Review 27:room is somewhat dated, bathroom was updated. Hole in the rug in the middle of the floor. TV requires 2 remotes to operate. nothing major
Review 28:great staff, right at the waterfront, quiet
Review 29:1.had been told i could use my son's credit card BEFORE arrival; then found they wanted forms to be filled out & signed by him, in the end i had to leave to get cash (another hour of travelling around) in order to sort it out; the 'deposit' was way higher than cost of room, & had to return to front desk in the morning even tho I'd already paid for the room. 2. no breakfast in the morning available since a server had not shown up...& i didn't find out with enough time before checkout time; the staff seemed entirely non-plussed, except for the woman 'Lizbeth' who had been there when i came & at checkout. 3. room faced onto walkway between main road and quayside, did not feel secure
Review 30:lobby area of hotel
Review 31:There were hairs in the bathtub. Maybe thorough cleaniness . N maybe a bowl n a plate in room is s plus
Review 32:I very much enjoy the view of the water. Everything was very comfortable .
Review 33:Rooms are 2 to 3 star. Wifi is terrible. There aren't enough power outlets in the room. They actually use power bars to get their power!! Lights are dated and need to be brighter. Rooms too dark even with all 4 lights on.
Review 34:Location is great.
Review 35:A little hard on my smoking husband to actually leave the hotel property whenever he needed to smoke...on the other hand he may have smoked less than usual because of the inconvenience.
Review 36:The location beside the seabus to Vancouver downtown is ideal, also the shopping mall attached by elevator. Great access to Upper Levels highway to our trip destinations.
Review 37:Staff not knowledgeable about the area. Few dining options (particularly breakfast) in immediate area.
Review 38:Convenient location with easy access to downtown. Great views.
Review 39:The bed was uncomfortable and we had a cot for our 6 year old granddaughter that literally had the coils barely covered. The room was very tired, carpets were dirty ....all that for 399 a night!
Review 40:Loved the location and the fact they had a water cooler in the room.
Review 41:The lobby, if you can call it that, is nothing more than a desk on the 3rd floor of the market. The photos they use in their marketing are accurate, but the camera used to take them is in the Market! I had to add this to the "What you didn't like", but it was neither here nor there. I only used the lobby to check in.
Review 42:The Lonsdale Quay Hotel was in a great location for our 36 hour whirlwind getaway from Seattle! We were within 15 minutes of the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park & the Grouse Mountain Skyride and 20 minutes to the Vancouver Aquarium. The Hotel is on top of the Lonsdale Quay Market, so food, Espresso & gifts were just outside our door!
Review 43:The hotel room needs an update in style. The TV requires two remotes to operate and the TV is buried deep in a cabinet where the shelve it sits on cannot be pulled forward for easier viewing.
Review 44:Location
Review 45:No bottled water offered in the vending machines. I did without as the closest store opened at the time was the Shoppers Drug Mart. Please consider adding water to the selection.
Review 46:Although rooms were dated, location could not be beat. Service was fantastic.
Review 47:noise of the air conditioner and noice throughout the hotel all night, like a pipe or something. There was no water cooler that was promised and i was also promised an upgrade to an executive room and when i arrived the front desk said that was a mistake by a new staff member and didn't get it. Was not happy at all with the noice level and the age of the room. Needs new carpets and tv.
Review 48:location
Review 49:The other front desk guy wasn't quite as knowledgeable or accommodating. The pillows were terrible. Otherwise great.
Review 50:The front desk manager. She was accommodating and helpful! Great location! Saw Canada Day fireworks from there!
Review 51:Fun location above a mall. The ground floor was an "open air, local people" atmosphere and the 2nd story was like a regular indoor mall with more mainstream businesses. Right outside the mall "patio" was the Seabus terminal for easy trip to Vancouver. We had a beautiful view of downtown Vancouver from our balcony.
Review 52:We loved the location right next to the Sea bus terminal so very easy for transport to the city and anywhere we wanted to go. We purchased beautiful fruit at the market under the hotel. The best place for breakfast is a coffee shop behind the hotel they served the best coffee we had in Vancouver. Also Parking under the hotel was good. Hotel is a little dated but clean and comfortable.
Review 53:Parking is a little confusing if driving a car. Enter the parking garage under the sign that reads "2 hour hotel parking." You can pay $12 Canadian for parking when you check in. There is a public parking garage adjacent to the one used by the hotel but getting from it to the check-in desk with luggage is an adventure I don't want to repeat.
Review 54:Was informed at check-in that my reserved standard room had been upgraded (free) to a water view room since I had used booking.com. Hotel is very convenient to SeaBus water taxi and is in the same building as a shopping mall and within walking distance of several restaurants. Room was very nice!
Review 55:None
Review 56:The view across Burrard Inlet looking at Vancouver was just gorgeous and the Quay Market right downstairs was a wonderful start to the day with a fresh Danish and coffee outside overlooking the water.
Review 57:Located above the busy Lonsdale market with many and varied food vendors, the hotel boasts views of the magnificent Vancouver skyline and busy harbour. Just a stone's throw from the Seabus terminal and bus station, it offers quick and inexpensive access to the city's attractions.
Review 58:Super long walk down the hall if you're in the end rooms. Hope you don't have a bunch of stuff to carry. Also I found parking difficult to navigate, but the entrance to the proper parkade was the absolute closest one to the coffee shop/hotel sign.
Review 59:Rooms are nice, updated. Located upstairs to a mall/ market that is open during the day. SO many food options! Food court style. Lovely view if you sit outside! Was cool outside with the breeze but beautiful, the water is right there. I had the Indian food which was pretty good, not amazing.
Review 60:Finding the hotel in the car is very difficult. There needs to be signs on the street to how to drive into the parking garage to access the hotel.
Review 61:Beautiful setting with wonderful views from our balcony.
Review 62:I checked in got my room keys and parking vouchers and paid for everything in full in advance. Or so I thought till the checkout when they suprised me with the news that I owe an extra $25 for the 2 cars I had in the parking. The money is not a big deal, I was just angry because they never told me about it when I gave them my plate number and got my voucher or when I asked for the room rate I was getting or when I was paying. I would have rathered to know in advance so I can have the option to choose.
Review 63:Good value for the money. Clean.great waterfront view. Good size room.
Review 64:It was obvious after but locating the front desk was somewhat challenging and didn't appear to be any signage to driveup and unload luggage.
Review 65:Couldn't be a more convenient location. Right above North Vancouver's market with restaurants all right there and access to downtown Vancouver via the Sea Bus is right downstairs.
Review 66:The room didn't included breakfast , which was very disappointed for the price that we paid.
Review 67:The location of the hotel is very convenient, the room was clean and the view amazing.
Review 68:Room was too close to the elevator. Breakfast? Was never advised this was included. You have to upgrade your TV'S as we are no longer in the 80's. Room was stuffy and lacking air.
Review 69:I have stayed at this property several times over the years and was pleased to see the spacious two Queen room had been updated.Being on the waterfront is fantastic and the market downstairs is great to pick up a few items including a wine shop. Lower lonsdale is full of lovely places the eat..the Pier on the Waterfront is fantastic and offers beautiful skyline views. A quick trip to downtown on the Seabus is so easy and very scenic!
Review 70:We found nothing to dislike. Being centrally located, there were so many eating places on the doorstep to choose from.
Review 71:We stayed for 10 days at The Lonsdale Quay and were given the 'honeymoon' suite which had fantastic views over the sea to Canada Plaza. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome.
Review 72:The restaurant was expensive, food warmed up in a microwave.Dried out with little flavor. Fortunately, a better breakfast is available in the market area. Less expensive with a great view.
Review 73:Location, just above the market is great to purchase snacks, wine, clothes and last but not least a massage.
Review 74:The bathtub was not as clean as I expect in a hotel (hair in bathtub and mould around some fixtures) Bed could have been more comfortable.
Review 75:Location is excellent above Lonsdale Quay Market and close to the Seabus. 10% discount on purchases made in the market. Spacious room with updated bathroom. Good value for the money.
Review 76:Breakfast with room service. Terrible taste and super expensive. Mattress was a little older and a pillow more would be nice. Window to open leads onto a patio with excess to public. Not ideal with no lock.
Review 77:Nice sized room, big bed, sitting area and a big bathroom with soaker tub.
Review 78:Couple of minor disappointments, breakfast room was closed for two days of my stay, no hot tub or pool, and on my last day I was woken up very early by a pile driver working on the lot next door. Still very happy with my stay though.
Review 79:Totally central to everything in North Van; right at the Seabus terminal, transit hub and the Market. Overlooking the harbour. Patio doors open over the water. Great sights sounds and smells.
Review 80:Everything was great I didn't notice anything I didn't like
Review 81:The rooms are nice and clean and the views are nice from the 3 and 4th floor from the balcony. And the lonsdale quey market is nice to have there for food and shopping.
Review 82:Stayed at this hotel a few times and can't seem to get any sleep. They have little bar fridges in every room which is a nice touch, however they make quite a racquet at night. Next time we will unplug and solve the problem! There isn't much around to grab a bite, after 8pm when it's raining! Although the signs in the hall said the restaurant was open in the Quay even the sign in the restaurant window itself said open they were not! The security guard in the quay was a rude bastard, he didn't even know if the restaurant was open or not???
Review 83:Front desk was crazy busy, phone ringing non-stop, line up of people BUT the young lady was great! She was calm polite, and very apologetic, The next morning when we returned to check out she either still there or back again and apologized again. None of this was clearly her fault!
Review 84:There was a night that when we return to our room (313), the glasswindow was left open and the room was in pitch dark. Once we turn thelights on, there was about 10+ flies in the room, my husband started todrive them away. We inform the front desk and all she did wasapologized. That was the first time. We did not use any of the bedlinens the night of the fly incident, but the maid did not even botherto change it out the next day - the blanket was left the way we had it.Then the location was next to a construction, at 0700 exactly, the construction started and loud pounding was heard. Lastly, the parking was extra charge.
Review 85:The view was acceptable in room 313.WiFi was free.
Review 86:Love the size of the room and the convenience of the Quay just downstairs. Would be wonderful to stay when it's raining ~ everything handy and you wouldn't have to go out in the weather! We also found our room really quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would absolutely stay here again.
Review 87:The bed frame had a hideous squeak with any movement in the bed. Upon checking the frame down by the floor, the lack of cleaning around the bed was very apparent. Ick.
Review 88:Our initial room overlooked a construction zone and the front desk staff was able to move us to a room more over the water despite being a full hotel.
Review 89:I went to bed thinking it was a great location and excellent hotel for what we paid. Then I got woken up at 730am with loud banging from construction next door. Phone first!
Review 90:The TV setup was in an awkward placement in the room. Would have been nice if you could have pulled it out for better viewing im bed.
Review 91:We were upgraded tp a lovely room with a magnificent view.
Review 92:Bathroom had no fan. Coffee machine was on a tray on top of the fridge not balanced and unstable. It moved when loading coffee maker. Spills happened. Need more wall outlets.
Review 93:Access to all the conveniences we needed.Markets and food. Seabus terminal is right there. Had a nice harbor view.
Review 94:Some works going on pretty close and a little noisy from 9 in the morning (but that's life, not hotel's fault).
Review 95:Right on the quay where you take the seabus in the morning to arrive right in the middle of downtown, Granville street, clean, comfortable and for the price paid ($85) very fair. Nice to grab breakfast in the covered market just downstairs when waking up (fresh market).
Review 96:would love to get a harbour view ,but for $63 plus tax and parking it was a great last minute deal
Review 97:location,nice room,great shopping and market right there.seabus is a 2 minute walk,then a 10 minute ride to vancity!!
Review 98:We were in a low end room but it was quite adequate, given that neither the weather or our schedule allowed us to have wanted to sit out on a eck with a view. The price we paid (average $90 a night) was great. Seabus and market are great ammenities.
Review 99:The first night our room was above the dance studio, which shut down at a pretty reasonable time (9 pm) but it was pretty loud. We were moved for the second night to a fantastic room
Review 100:I absolutely love the location of this hotel, it's super convenient to downtown but also has everything you could want pretty much across the street. It's our go-to in Vancouver.
Review 101:We requested late check out and the customer service agent tried to charge me another $20 per half hour. I thought that's a rip off! The smell of the parking lot is horrid! We almost threw up. Parking fee is additional and there's no street parking.
Review 102:The view was breathtaking. We had the room at the end of the hallway that goes across the building. Had own terrace - not a deck, but a whole large patio in front of our room. We could look down a tourists taking pictures at the waterfront and the view of downtown Vancouver across the distance over the water.
Review 103:Bed could have been more comfortable. No on site restaurant but breakfast available, though the pancakes weren't very good.
Review 104:Unique location as part of the Lonsdale Quay market. Excellent location, right at the sea bus terminal and bus station for North Vancouver. Was upgraded to a water view when I arrived. Spectacular sunrise and sunset views. Spacious, comfortable room with a water cooler as well as coffee maker. Juliet balcony.
Review 105:1. One easy chair in room 423 has a deep depression in the cushion. Not comfortable - too low. 2. Mattress should be turned - there's a cliff between the frequently used side (for tv watching) and the other 2/3rds of the bed.
Review 106:Helpful desk clerk for my wifi problem. Friendly Irish gal in breakfast room (is usually on front desk she says). Friendly and happy cleaning staff in halls and elevator.
Review 107:Our room wasn't ready when asked...and they said they would call and let us know when it was. We never got a call.
Review 108:Loved that there was a Kuerig coffee maker in our room.
Review 109:The noise of them building something below us (yes I know they have to do it when the market is closed) but it was very loud.
Review 110:The rooms are lovely and the affordability is wonderful.
Review 111:Totally 2*. Stacked on floor, fridge, microwave, then coffee maker. Bedding was old and worn. Bathroom sink took forever to drain. Doors on Armoire wouldn't stay open to see the TV, had to block with a chair.
Review 112:Beautiful location, right above fabulous market and stores.
Review 113:Here are 2 things you should improve on..... 1) Expand the gym facilities and equipment eg more free weights 2) Keep up with property maintenance eg painting, windows , doors latches etc.
Review 114:Excellent value for money
Review 115:Our room was facing a work site when we arrived Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and there was MASSIVE NOISE FROM A JACKHAMMER-DRILL FOR HOURS. We were wanting some peace and quiet after driving for 10 hours. The Wireless DID NOT WORK either of the 2 nights we were there.
Review 116:Love the location, staff pleasant
Review 117:Last time we stayed at this hotel we were stuck in a dark room overlooking the roof I did not want too stay at your hotel again but because of necessity (location) and other hotels booked we did stay there again....What a pleasant surprise...nice light room with water view...we will definitely stay again
Review 118:We arrived at night in the dark and it was raining. I wasn't sure where to enter the hotel. I spent 10 minutes walking around the building looking for the lobby. There was a sign that said HOTEL right by an elevator but it did not have a sign as to where the lobby was or what hotel. I eventually found the lobby on floor 3 . So my point is that the signage for the hotel and where to enter and where to park could be much better.
Review 119:Excellent location with shopping and food right underneath us.
Review 120:The heating/cooling system is old fashion. Noisy and hard to control the temp. The staff keep knocking on the door in the morning. Oh sorry. Oh sorry! They're just learning. The bedding is cheap.
Review 121:This hotel is very good value! But it's an adventure to get to. Whether getting to downtown Vancouver by seaplane, ferry into Horseshoe Bay then bus downtown, or Skytrain from the airport, you're still not there! It's in North Vancouver! But that's okay. It's just a ten minute crossing on the Seabus. The Hotel is in the same complex as a very convenient market place. It has everything. In the morning we go downstairs for an inexpensive breakfast. There's lots to chose from. I like a $3 bagel with cream cheese. My girl goes for the all dressed crepe, $10.
Review 122:No hot tub or pool, but not a big deal.
Review 123:The location worked really well for us since we were on our way up to Whistler, but also wanted to spend a little time in Vancouver. It provided perfectly acceptable accommodations at an excellent price.
Review 124:Because I requested a quiet room I was completely dismayed that I gotthe room right next to the elevator. The room right after the main doorso up to 2 am and starting at 5 30 am that door was opened and closed -put a muzzle on it!!!!!!!the bed squeaked HORRIBLY - i was alone, i merely would just roll over and it woke me up and the pillows were LUMPY., i can't imagine if somoene wanted to have sex!! jeepers the woman at the front blamed it on a new employee: don't believe it. also the view was dispicable: a slight view of the ocean but really? overlooking the offices. and the art positioning was silly.
Review 125:The lady in the morning did help me: I said the pillows were horribleand lumpy and the bed was squeaky REALLy bad like a east end derilichotel: I don't know how to spell it because I would never stay atsomething so bad. The noise in the hall, the doors closing constantlywas ridiculous I will never stay there again even if it was 35 dollars.Horrible sleep and lieing staff.and parking???? again i expect that expense from downtown but not there. I will be looking at the PIer from now on = much needed renos
Review 126:Rooms are very nice and clean, free room up grade without even asking, beds are extremley comforable, bathroom is the olny thing alittle outdated. The market in the hotel is wonderful. If you can fit your vehicle in the under ground parking its $12/24h. If you cant you will almost pay the same for what you paid for the room for nine hours of parking across the street. Would highly recommend, & book online for cheapest rates.
Review 127:Was a little hard to find where to park and where the lobby was. $12.00 for parking for one day seemed a bit steep for us not used to paying for parking in big cities.
Review 128:The location, the market, the view. You don't have to leave the enclosed market ( heated and under the same roof as the hotel to go to eat, shop or buy most things.
Review 129:Not a major criticism, but the soaps and shampoos were "Eco" brand, but they had synthetic perfumes and other chemicals like any other products. Only the packaging was green. Same with the toilet paper and tissues: it's FSC certified, but still logging old growth forests to make toilet paper... Not good. Recommend switching to Purex T.P. and Scotties tissues made with recycled fiber (and locally milled in New Westminster). Toilets are old and huge water wasters. Ours also had a minor leak.
Review 130:Friendly staff central location to transit, restaurants, Quay
Review 131:During the time we went a lot of the stores and shops close early for our taste, we tend to be night owls. Had to across the harbor to D.T. Vancouver to stay up late.
Review 132:The location in the market, the staff was excellent. Near a lot of good restaurants. The harbor views are very good for skyline pictures. I would stay here again ten times over.
Review 133:The parking is difficult to find. The sign is very small! But once you find it the lot is an easy in and out with direct access to the hotel via elevator.
Review 134:Location right beside seabus. Excellent value for money (don't be scared of the very low price). Lonsdale market right below hotel for food and other supplies. Great little gym.
Review 135:construction started at 7am:( in room coffee was terrible.(had to purchase my own coffee that didnt taste like water.. bring your own K-cups)
Review 136:location was good. in room coffee nice view ,
Review 137:I do not like extra charges small or large. A facilities charge of $2.50 a day was initially added to my bill which I was unwilling to pay.
Review 138:Size of room and bathroom. A bathtub. Quietness despite being part of a working port with railways and construction nearby. Right beside the Seabus and bus terminal. Discounts in Lonsdale market. Great places to eat without leaving one penniless.
