Reviews for Mahogany Manor Bed & Breakfast

Review 1:Absolutely loved everything about it. It was my first-time staying at a bed and breakfast. Carl and Oliver were the most welcoming hosts and made us feel like we were at home.

Review 2:Nothing to report here!

Review 3:Well, where to begin, Carl was an exceptional host, cook and guide to all the activities in the area. The home was absolutely beautiful in decor and comfort. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Oliver was a Love Bug!!! Food was exceptional in preparation, taste and presentation! Carl is also a Massage Therapist and I was able to have a magnificent therapeutic massage as well! The personal touch to all he did to make it a wonderful stay could not be compared to a hotel stay of greater cost anywhere. Basically, I am saying that I didn't want to go home!

Review 4:Would have likes a coffe/tea machine in the room.

Review 5:Our host, Carl, gave us great dinner recommendations, wonderful conversations and a lovely room in a charming home.

Review 6:Great hosts, comfortable room with a lounge at the end of the hall where guests could meet and chat at the end of the day, delicious breakfasts, great location!

Review 7:Our host was very friendly and eager to help in any way. The breakfast was delicious and served in the dining room with gracious, elegant charm. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Review 8:The hosts, Jim and Carl were wonderful. They shared the history of their beautiful house, as well as the the area. They clearly love their home, Saint John, and sharing what they know with guests.

Review 9:This is a very good place to stay. The host is very helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfasts are amazing - and the jams are exquisite. Just wonderful. The location is excellent for walking around the old town area and excellent restaurants are close by.

Review 10:Only slight discomfort would be our bed - we are accustomed to a very firm mattress and ours was much 'softer' than we are used to. A minor discomfort in the big picture!!

Review 11:Carl and Jim are absolutely wonderful hosts! Breakfasts are great and we had them do a dinner for us + 2 guests - it was presented beautifully and professionally. The food was very good and again, presented as you would find in a 5* restaurant. Carl served us in a white shirt, black bow tie, black shorts and looked the picture of a fine gentleman - Jim too presented himself as an experienced chef in fine attire!! It was a wonderful experience and so nice to be able to stay in to have such a wonderful meal.

Review 12:Faultless property & hosts.

Review 13:The hosts we're very knowledgable about their town & the history. Very tastefully decorated home. Could not find fault with anything.

Review 14:Owners insisted we pay in cash for our stay, despite being able to book online with credit card. This was blamed on credit card fees, but they shouldn't be allowed on booking.com that way.

Review 15:Good location, good breakfast and great reviews on the town/dinner options.

Review 16:This was one of the loveliest inns we have been in. The house itself is stunning. The room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. Breakfast (oh those pancakes!!) was delicious, and the conversation with the other guests was so much fun. Most of all, we enjoyed meeting Jim and Carl. Jim exudes warmth and sensitivity. Carl's stories kept us laughing all the way back to the States. We will be back!

Review 17:Jim and Carl are delightful hosts and clearly love meeting and being with their guests. They have a lovely house and it was a fine place for our short stay. Superb breakfast!

Review 18:cramped bathroom

Review 19:welcoming hosts who were well informed about the area and what it had to offer delicious breakfast beautiful public space off street parking in a city where parking is tight

Review 20:Hosts (and especially Carl) were warm and friendly. We were pleased with their dinner recommendation and our breakfasts were excellent. Location was close to the center of St John; we enjoyed the older atmosphere of the neighborhood.

Review 21:Town was a little too quiet.

Review 22:Great old home; great location to a very laid back, gem of a town. Nice waterfront eateries, and entertainment. Innkeepers - Jim and Carl were great. Served one of the best breakfasts of our trip.

Review 23:The hosts could not be more accommodating -- great recommendations for dinner and have us a great walking map of St. John. Beautifully appointed home, fabulous breakfast, cleanest bathroom ever!

Review 24:Didn ' t even put out ice water for guests. No real amenities of any sort. Place was not picked up well. Felt like hosts were doing me a favor to let me stay there.

Review 25:Breakfast was good. Hosts were helpful with directions and suggestions.

Review 26:The innkeepers maintain a fabulous home and are great conversationalists. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast was delicious (their own pancake recipe). A great place to stay.

Review 27:The beautiful decor and calmness of the house. The friendlyprofessionalism of the owners. And the breakfast - and I mustn'tforget oliver, the cat!

Review 28:Limited parking was a problem, as was initially trying to find the location with so many one way streets.

Review 29:The hosts were marvelously friendly. They were very helpful in giving information about local attractions.

Review 30:Excessive potpourri and odors to illicit allergic responses. House needs a painting.

Review 31:Excellent inn keepers coddling out of towners in a spacious Victorian house

Review 32:That we only stayed for one night. That we didn't get the chance to meet Carl's partner.

Review 33:Oliver the cat..so much personality! The great breakfast with homemade muffins and jams. Our host Carl who provided fabulous recommendations for a nearby wine bar and tapas place, The wonderful location, which was walking distance to everything. A comfortable and hospitable b&b which we would 'highly' recommend.

Review 34:Unfortunately we arrived when a cruise ship was not in town so that the St. Johns tour buses were not running.

Review 35:We like vintage homes for B&Bs and ones that are in the older part of town so that we do not have to drive. Everything was excellent especially the meals and owners

Review 36:neighborhood questionable at first, but did later not bother me; steep gradient to town and restaurants

Review 37:hospitality, comfort, cleanliness and full use of facility, service was very good to excellent; went out of their way to make us feel at home with personal service

Review 38:The Inn is beautiful! We loved our room. You can walk to restaurants and downtown. Carl was great and helpful. Oliver, the cat, was a bonus! Breakfast great! Will stay here again if we return to St. John! A wonderful start to our trip.

Review 39:Nothing we can think of.

Review 40:Beautiful, unique old house, in a quiet street within easy walking distance of the city centre amenities. Nice rooms, fantastic breakfast, fascinating decor & furniture in the common rooms and Carl & Jim were very helpful - the perfect hosts. Oliver the cat was as friendly as the housekeeper Jane who couldn't have done more to make us welcome, including a load of laundry for no charge. For a B&B in Saint John I'd look nowhere else.

Review 41:We have stayed at the B&B for the second time and it was just as nice, cosy and lovely as we remembered it. For people who are allergic to cats it might pose a problem, though. Oliver (the super-cute and very friendly cat of the owners) roams the house... Also, the bedrooms don't have a TV, which we found pretty nice.

Review 42:Nothing we didn't like

Review 43:Great welcome - breakfast prepared and served by Karl (who also apparently does great massages). Gay friendly but not a problem for straights!

Review 44:The host was most welcoming and helpful with dining and visiting information. He had many menus available to look at. The rooms were comfortable, well endowed electrically, and quiet. Two sitting areas were comfortable. Walking to restaurants and Market was easy.

Review 47:We stayed for several days and used the location as a launching point for recreational activities in the Bay of Fundy area. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and Jim and Carl are wonderful hosts.

Review 48:Carl and JIM were great hosts and very helpful when we had questions. Made our stay very comfortable and big beautiful old house. Served wonderful breakfast in morning. Would stay there again anytime.
