Reviews for Elite Hotel
Review 1:Most of the staff are great. There's a woman, though, who's incredibly crabby. Consistently - we stayed here for a week in the summer, as well. The wifi is dreadfully inconsistent and slow.
Review 2:It's cheap and handy to downtown.
Review 3:Loud air conditioner combined with windows we couldn't open. Would not have needed the air conditioner if there was a way to open the windows. Holes in the blanket suggested they could have perhaps got newer ones.
Review 4:Location is excellent.
Review 5:The room was warm and air conditioning was not adequate. Not the cleanest room. Seemed like the we were staying at a hotel which was going through some major renovation, at least the room, hallway, door knob, lighting fixtures seemed that way. But it was not an expensive hotel, so you can't really have it all.
Review 6:Big room and it was located at the heart of Whitehorse, very convenient location.
Review 7:Some confusion on check in as wife had booked online for me and this caused confusion with my not having the booking credit card with me. couldn't change the channel on the tv.
Review 8:The room was very large which was nice. Good price.
Review 9:The room smelled, and the first response from the desk was to send someone to the room with air spray (who immediately reacted to room odor). Eventually after insisting, we got a new room. That should have been automatic, but it was not easy.
Review 10:No screen in the window so wasn't able to open the window for some fresh air. Would have been nice to have some seating the lobby while waiting to be picked up. Need a new coffee supplier.......it was terrible. Take your own!
Review 11:Location downtown and a pub on one side and a restaurant next door. Didn't eat in either one so can't comment on their food.
Review 12:inadequate portable A/C; awkward cable/satellite TV channels; room door did not lock automatically (manual dead bolt)
Review 13:free guest laundry; huge room; elevator;
Review 14:In June, it gets hot in the rooms, so they decided to use portable AC units. When we got in the room the unit was showing 26 degrees Celsius. After half an hour of working, the temperature reached 32 degrees. We ended up sleeping on top of the bed sweating in 30 degrees. Time to fix your cooling system guys! Don't ruin a good place with one big bad thing!
Review 15:We were shocked about the size of the room, huuuge. Clean, seems to be recent renovated. Everything is great, we really liked the place except one thing.
Review 16:The bed was not comfortable. the room had a musty smell that was being covered up with smelly popourii. The bed was dirty and old when the matress got moved it was all stained and looked very very old.
Review 17:It was inexpensive. we stayed 5 days. it was located near great restraunts and downtown for ease of walking.
Review 18:Poor business. They do not take anything but credit card to check in. While they will tell you they accept other forms of payment. They do not care if you have cash or if your coming from out of town and they also don't care if your left stranded because of this. If your coming from the airport with no vehicle of your own. And trusted to stay there. Poor business to advertise your 'service' to ppl and the front desk agent was very unprofessional.
Review 19:Nice hotel
Review 20:nothing
Review 21:Great location in the middle of town, In room facilities of microwave and refrigerator in are easy to stay for either family or travelers.Free wi-fi access , Clean linen and very big rooms.
Review 22:I did not care for the parking. Main lot is out back. If lucky and hitting the road early, you can park out front under street lights.
Review 23:Had a fridge and Microwave. Great staff.
Review 24:No access to toilet facilities in the hotel outside the room itself. No info on where to get breakfast. Offhand staff at Reception. Quite expensive, not top value for money. Curtain rail broken and weird shower tap on bath which would not function properly
Review 25:Location
Review 26:It was in a bad part of town and it is a very old hotel that is in need of major renovations. The linens from the comforter to the sheets were disgusting. I tried twice to get clean sheets that didn't have fresh blood stains on them. Even after being told the sheets were laundered they still had blood spots all over them. The comforters and blankets had unknown stains and burn marks everywhere and had obviously not been washed in a very long time. My advice is stay somewhere else or bring all of your own bedding and disenfectent.
Review 27:It was a large room for a double queen and the front desk people were very nice.
Review 28:What a dump. The common areas haven't been cleaned in years. The paint on the room walls is peeling in areas. The air conditioner was a stand alone rigged up to the window and couldn't cool the room. The only sign for the hotel is a piece of paper taped to a window with the words "Elite Hotel" written on it. It's actually the old 202 Motor Inn. The first picture on Booking.com is of a office building across the street which misleads you to think that it is the hotel. It's the worst hotel we ever stayed in. We will certainly warn any travellers we know about this Whitehorse hotel.
Review 29:First off, the picture on this website is not the hotel! It is theadjacent business center. The hotel doesn't even have a sign, justan address ("202"). We had to call them and ask directionsafter circling around a couple of times. That fact alone really coloredthe whole experience, as we were expecting to stay somewhere nice. Thehotel is pretty shabby, and has an "old" feel. Honestly wewould have gone somewhere else but we already booked on this site and itwas too late to cancel the reservation.
Review 30:The room was large, and very spacious, came with a fridge. Bed waspretty comfortable. The best thing about this hotel is its proximity toa very good/fancy restaurant, which literally shares the sameentrance as the hotel (so when the weather is bad, you wouldn't evenneed to go outside).
Review 31:The night desk staff wasn't very friendly or helpful, but the morning people were great. Having no hotel shuttle to or from the airport was a downside and the taxi cost about $20+ each way. The only other downside is that some drunk people were outside the front door of the hotel usually in the evening and a few times in the morning. They didn't bother anyone though.
Review 32:The room was quite large which helped us sort out our camping equipment and food from our trip down the Dempster Highway. The refirgerator and microwave were helpful too. Parking in the back area was plentiful and the location of the hotel was right downtown and convenient to almost everything.
Review 33:The only negative was not the hotel itself but some of the life outside the hotel. Some questionable sorts and a bit dirty.
Review 34:Although this is an older hotel, we were surprised at the SIZE of our room and the cleanliness. It is rustic but clean, old but charming. We had a very nice stay at this hotel and would stay there again if ever in Whitehorse in the future. Their laundry facility was not working and they actually let me use their housekeeping's machines. No charge. I really appreciated that and that just added to our nice stay in this older hotel. Located withing walking distance of everything downtown.
Review 35:Just one security point. When it was very hot the emergency doors were open and we were concerned that it was possible someone could get in unnoticed.
Review 36:Excellent position within easy walking distance of everything in town. 24/7 hour operation of front desk and helpfulness of staff. Also good Italian restaurant next door.
Review 37:Shower head was cracked so it sprayed some extra water. Also the mattress was pretty basic. For the money, neither was a problem for me. There is a bar and restaurant down stairs. Noise didn't bother me.
Review 38:Excellent location, cheap and very clean.
Review 39:building did not look like photo difficult to find as signage did not match hotel name became non-smoking as of June 1, 2014, but walls of hotel still smelled like smoke
Review 40:central location in the town good value good amenities in room
Review 41:Air conditioning not connected properly in a couple of our rooms. Noisy location due to proximity to local bars and restaurants.
Review 42:Rooms were large and comfortable. Washrooms were a decent size.
Review 43:Location, drunk people along the street where we parked, didn't feel very safe. Rooms smelled of cigarettes, dingy and very basic. Very different from pictures online !
Review 44:Friendly front desk staff and café was good for breakfast.
Review 45:Smell in the room reeked of urine!
Review 46:room was nice and comfortable
Review 47:the low price for accommodation
Review 48:outside noise when bar close
Review 49:The room was nice and clean and warm

Review 66:Good location and fairly comfortable.
Review 67:Nice location. In walking distance to waterfront and area stores.
Review 68:it is too hot in the rooms and you cannot open a window
Review 69:you can turn off the air condition completely does not wake you up in he nights bathtub!!! :)

Review 78:The room was large and the elevator worked great.
Review 79:Was down town and lot of shadie people hanging out on the streets

Review 92:The back entrance
Review 93:Reasonable rate Close to attractions Free parking
Review 94:No breakfasts available, or shuttle service to airport.
Review 95:Big, clean, comfy rooms. Cheap price.
Review 96:Whitehorse and region exceedingly surpassed my dreams. Your staff was most willing to assist in an requests we had
Review 97:Close to downtown, but no parking that felt safe. Room was large but warm. Ac provided but poorly installed.
Review 98:Room was a bit dark
Review 99:Huge room
Review 100:Older Hotel and it needed a bit of a facelift
Review 101:It Was right downtown were all the activities were
Review 102:The window was very small and made the room seem dark even in mid-June, only a few days from the solstice. While we appreciated the air conditioner, it was large, clunky, noisy and instructions on how to properly use it were not clear. Typical hotel toiletries (e.g. shampoo) were missing but were available upon request.
Review 103:Friendly, helpful staff. Location was convenient. Appreciated having a small refrigerator in the room and free WiFi service.
Review 104:Place was so unappealing I asked to see the room before signing in and paying. I didn't like it at all. The staff were very nice people but did not speak English very well which didn't help. Big problem was the place to park was behind the bldg, insecure and difficult to get to from the room. Room was small and furnishings old. So, I declined to stay there and the young oriental lady was very nice and signed a piece of paper noting I did not use her establishment.
Review 105:Terrible Wi-Fi service, frequently not there or next to nil, esp Room 314, virtually useless on both an iPad Air and MacBook Pro. Can't open windows with air conditioner setup. Air conditioner filter was filthy (we have to breathe that air!). No kettle, no ironing facilities.
Review 106:Very outdated. A noisy a/c unit sitting on the floor with a dryer hose out the window. Light bulbs not working so It was very dark. Carpet and bed was very old and dirty looking. It had a updated bathroom but the shower tap was hooked up backwards and was way too hot to shower in. The 20$ saved from the hotel I am in just a few blocks away was not worth the stay
Review 107:It's right downtown so that is good to walk to shopping and food
Review 108:The room was dirty, and very old. Up keep was poor. in need of lots of repair. It IS the Yukon and I have travelled plenty in the North, but this is pretty poor. I almost never even checked in, but was running late for a meeting and took the room, but checked out at 8am the next morning. AND, the photo on your site is a picture of the Courthouse across the street!!!!!! That's whats a bit crazy and really mis-represents the building. I drove round and round looking for it. Also the name on the Hotel is 202 Motor Inn (or something like that) "Elite Hotel" is a small 8.5 x 11" piece of paper - literally taped onto the window of the door.! I checked out after one night and moved to the Ramada. (only $10/night more, and MUCH better room. I have never had a problem with Booking .com and as you know , I use you guys almost every time I travel anywhere. You need to fix this reference for this hotel. Thank you and best regards, Joe
Review 109:I would never recommend this hotel!!!!!! It smelled like smoke, therewere burn stains in the stairwell carpets from cigarettes and leftoverused cigarettes left. The room smelled horrible. The sheets on one bedhad a stain. The towels need to be updated. The shower doesn't drainwell. The water is burning hot, be very careful. The pillows are thin. Not many tv channels. Overall everything just felt dirty.
Review 110:Nothing
Review 111:The wifi was terrible. Very weak signal, and I was barely able to usethe internet. I reported it to the lobby but there was nothing theycould do. The internet is one of the most important things for me when Iarrive at any hotel, and I will probably wont stay there again becauseof the bad wifi connection.
Review 112:Just another hotel. Nothing special really. No major problems other thanthe wifi connection.
Review 113:Most locals seem to know it as the 202 while the website calls it Elite. Taxi driver was not aware of the different names (minor issue)
Review 114:The room was large, clean and comfortable. Everything we wished to do was within easy walking distance. Staff was friendly
Review 115:Noise, hot, no smoke detector in room (just the wires were hanging out of the ceiling). Tried to call front desk from room phone and just got a busy signal.
Review 116:Pet-friendly
Review 117:The sign on the hotel was Motel Hotel 202 which was confusing so we went in and asked and the manager said it was Elite and the sign has not been changed yet.
Review 118:We were there for 3 nights and the this hotel was just renovated. Nice large room, table and 4 chairs, computer desk and chair, flat screen tv, fridge, micro wave and good wffi. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 119:There was abit of smell in the room that I personally found unpleasent. I delt with it by lighting a scented candle. It helped.
Review 120:I liked the reception staff. They were helpful and friendly, always promptly responding to my needs.
Review 121:A bar near the hotel opens until late night and there are always some people hanging around on the street, but it is safe in and out the hotel at night.
Review 122:Very spacious room and close to amenities. Staffs are friendly and helpful.
Review 123:Seedy location, old rooms, smelled of cigarettes.
Review 124:Friendly front desk staff
Review 125:Little outside noise problem.
Review 126:An older facility but very clean. Nice folks working there.
Review 127:Room could have used better lighting.
Review 128:Smell, price, lighting in room.
