Reviews for Best Western Tin Wis Resort

Review 1:One staff member in the restaurant was new and was clearly challenged by the need to seat so many people for new years eve dinner. Thankfully the evening was redeemed by our amazing waitress!

Review 2:I have never had such exemplary customer service! At all times the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely room with an amazing view!

Review 3:I would suggest improving the DVD library. We borrowed the DVD player from the reception, great, but there were only 3 movies available on the shelf

Review 4:Super friendly staff, nice clean large rooms. I like the layout of the resort, right by the beach and not too far from town. There is a restaurant "Beachfront bistro" with a stunning view of the beach. The breakfast menu is impressive and the food really great.

Review 5:We were on a lower floor room and could hear the guests above us walking back and forth. hot tubs very full of people- didnt end up using them.

Review 6:The views were amazing out to the ocean. Staff very friendly. Would stay here again- on a top floor. The restaurant was very nice and great value as well. Rented wetsuits and surf board form hotel as well- safe beach to learn on.

Review 7:Easy to find from the highway. Friendly, well trained staff. Good restaurant. Nice room. Excellent facility. Great location! (pack wet suit or at least rubber boots for walking on the beach)

Review 8:No bad experience. Walk way and elevator could use some upgrade.

Review 9:Location is beautiful. Sunset awesome. Storm fabulous. Value compared to many very good. Would return.

Review 10:Wonderful room with really comfortable beds. Staff was great - helpful and pleasant. The hotel itself is beautiful. The location is great - close to town of Tofino and right on wonderful beach.

Review 11:No housekeeping. We stayed 2 nights. We are still waiting to see if our billing is correct. Two different credit card transactions were processed. Neither have been charged as yet two days later.

Review 12:We had a beautiful view from our room overlooking the beach. Five minuet drive to town of Tofino.

Review 13:Probably the cleanest room I have ever stayed in! Great staff, fabulous location, comfy beds, big rooms, micro/fridge; everything you need... and a great rate too. It's right on the beach - every room has a stunning ocean view too. It doesn't get any better than this.

Review 14:One small issue with the doors in the units but the issue was taken care of quickly and without further incidence.

Review 15:This property is in an excellent location! The beach is out your front door and the view is spectacular....you can walk out your door to the sand! The rooms are very clean, well serviced, comfy beds, Keurig coffee and tea in your room, and the ability to open a window to hear the waves. The restaurant was very good. We ate in the restaurant for dinner twice it was so good. The service was also amazing along with the food. Even the vegetables were cooked to perfection! We were not a group of 'friends' though we were a family, me and my 93 year young mother in one room and my brother and his wife in another.

Review 16:Perfect location of rooms, pet friendly, staff were friendly and welcoming and property is right on the beach/water. Took visiting friends from Alberta and they loved it..very good value.

Review 17:It wasn't a deal breaker for us but, from our room, wifi speed was very slow. Forget FaceTime and Netflix. Everything else was great!

Review 18:Staff was very friendly and our room was clean and comfy.

Review 19:Can't think of anything I didn't like.

Review 20:Loved the room, the location with beautiful ocean views and especially the breathtaking sunsets. Great restaurant too.

Review 21:Staff while friendly etc. sometimes slow in service-could be kitchen or bar issue. Menus, especially breakfast.

Review 22:Very friendly and helpful staff Wonderful location Main building décor is great

Review 23:Nothing to complain about

Review 24:This has been one of the best hotels that we have stayed in - beautiful location - room and elsewhere was clean and tidy - staff were very nice and helpful - they actually phoned and asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything - the housekeeper even left us a note telling us to have a very enjoyable day. The food in their restaurant was excellent and priced fairly compared to many places we have been too. Had a great time and will return. Brendan

Review 25:A breakfast server was late arriving one morning - created early problems for service. Corrected after server arrived

Review 26:Location on beach, close to town. Large balcony. Meal quality good for the price

Review 27:Fantastic get-a-way for local lovers... Great views, happy staff, food was delicious and generous portions (couldn't finish either dinner or breakfast).. Will be back!

Review 28:Was not pleased that a dog had been in the room before our stay-it was very noticeable. The staff helped out in correcting the smell, also reduced our nightly rate and helped out on breakfast. That was appreciated!

Review 29:Had a great steak dinner with my wife at the facility. Good location but was under the impression that it would be ocean view, our view was partial at best. The office staff was helpful.

Review 30:Bar area could be bigger and remain open for longer. No real area for travellers to met and socialise.

Review 31:Location overlooking a beautiful but safe beach and ocean . Fabulous sunsets.

Review 32:Front dest staff was very helpful, From their directions we vieded and photographed Black Bears fishing for salmon in town, visited a park to see Salmon swiming up water falls, Rode the Boat Francis Barkley on a 8 hour trip, saw whales and other marine mamels.

Review 33:Floor needed to have a thorough vacuuming.

Review 34:Location on the beach, and the landscaped grounds gave us spectacular views of the ocean and the sunsets, as well leisurely strolls along the shore.

Review 35:We had dinner one night at the restaurant. I did not choose to go back. The food was just OK and not a good value for the money. Our waitress was great, but the host seating people did not make us feel welcome..

Review 36:The location of the property is spectacular.

Review 37:Restaurant staff were surly. We had a snack on our first evening, looked at the breakfast menu and never went back - Cholesterol on a plate. The long trek to an alternative was preferable.

Review 38:Great beach. Rooms were comfortable.

Review 39:Room size, room service, bed bugs, dirty BBQ, expensive rate, room cards always discharge, customer services not friendly, poor beach for surfing,

Review 40:The view

Review 41:Kind of petty but when you are paying this much for a room you should have enough coffee and cups for 4 people not 2. And you should not be charging for extra coffee to make in your room. Also beach towels/chairs should be included

Review 42:So fantastic to be right on the beach in Tofino without being in a crowded area. Rooms overlook the beach and ocean, amazing! Really nice laid back feel at the hotel, lots of ambiance

Review 43:The food in the restaurant was not good (I was not charged for it when I complained about it). When I told the waiter that we won't be back again, he told me that it doesn't matter because many other people will come there. Daily room cleaning could have been better during the first three days, afterwards it improved. We stayed for eight nights and would have expected a set of new soaps and shampoo/conditioner every day and at least one change of sheets during the whole stay, which all didn't happen, as far as I can see. Some reception staff were very friendly, some not so much. There seem to be different approaches in terms of customer treatment, especially in the reception area.

Review 44:Very nice premises. Beautiful hotel in the style of a native loghouse. Direct access to the beach. Room and maintenance staff are very friendly. Management went out of their way to provide a quiet room for us. Beautiful rooms with enough space.

Review 45:Water pressure was non existent. How are people supposed to shower? Beds were not as comfortable as one would expect with the prices being charged. There is so much potential to make this a luxury resort, but saddly the hotel seems to be more interested in how to make the most money in a great location without putting anything into it. When you rely on the volume of guests instead of the quality of your hotel, it will make a difference over the long run.

Review 46:location was amazing. Staff were incredibly friendly and did their best.

Review 47:We felt the rooms were overpriced. There was a lot of noise from surrounding rooms and outside. Window lock was broken. Restaurant breakfast was very slow.

Review 48:beach was beautiful. room was nicely appointed. location is wonderful. lots of good parking.

Review 49:Locked out of room after surfing in wetsuit because 3 key cards not working. Staff eventually fixed. Hot tubs not working. Only informed once arrived.

Review 50:We had a good experience.

Review 51:The location by the beach. The grounds were pretty. Good location as a base to visit the town or to do the park hikes. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Review 52:The quality and variety of breakfast was not good. Waitresses were not polite and they served the food 15 min after tea. Also, we were a couple and in spite of some vacancies we were charged as 4 people( 2 Queen beds).

Review 53:The beach was wonderful.

Review 54:The breakfast seemed to start quite late for Canada generally and as we were jet lagged this meant we provided our own from the Co op in Tofino

Review 55:The view from the room was unbeatable. We had a 3rd floor room and also some kitchen facilities which enabled us to provide our own breakfast and easy meals when required

Review 56:There was a wedding and our room was booked between the guests. Also the room beside us was in the wedding party and had pre-reception drinks at their suite so we were not able to enjoy the outside patio.

Review 57:No elevator in main building even tho only 2 stories , it's difficult for seniors to carry luggage up stairs. Alternative is to ask and with locate in ground floor or in newer area with elevator

Review 58:View of ocean from our room was wonderful

Review 59:Can't think of anything I didn't like. Lovely dinner with my daughters. Only thing, we went to finish our wine in an attached patio with nice gas fireplaces. We were told they weren't license for that area. No issue we came back but the should get the license. Nice place to relax and stay warm.

Review 60:What a beautiful location. View from our room was spectacular. Beach goes on forever. Will will be back.

Review 61:It was uplifting to visit with the employees, and experience the results of their hard work and administrative competence in providing a first class hotel operation!

Review 62:The cost of the meals in the restaurant were a bit too high, but the food was quite good. Especially the Creme Brulee!

Review 63:The view of the ocean was lovely, the grounds were clean and comfortable, and the staff were all very helpful.

Review 64:I loved the aboroginal decor and the prescense of well prepared staff members especially in the dining-room. I loved the surrounding well manicured, yet natural, landscape and grassed area. I loved the easy access to the beach.

Review 65:Overpriced for just a place to stay. Location was on the beach but nothing special. No breakfast included but should've been for what we paid.

Review 66:Location was close to Tofino, shops and restaurants.

Review 67:Restaurant in resort quite poor, staff disorganized and unprofessional, meals cold and not as ordered. Would not recommend eating at this resort.

Review 68:Location, beds super comfortable, hot tubs new. Close to Tofino.

Review 69:we got upgraded to a a room with a king bed, kitchenette and a great view of the ocean. the hot tub was well stocked and was great after surfing in the chilly water, and there was a a great little surf shop attached to the hotel. the staff was amazing and very welcoming!

Review 70:The drum session at the centre nearby last many many hours on Saturday, from afternoon to evening, it was surprising to us.

Review 71:Great ocean view in front of us, the private balcony, kettle in room, great coffee at the room and reception, cleanliness.

Review 72:Everything was great.

Review 73:your options are either the bottom floor with direct access to the beach via your patio, or the 2nd level with AMAZING views....no elevator so that can help you decide! This beach is amazing...next door is the bella pacifica campground , and maybe 2 KM down the road is the Tofino Brewing Co... so good!! would I go back? I consider quitting my job to work there, lol. Most comfy bed's ever :)

Review 74:Wifi was not working in the rooms. The hotel new of the problem and we're working with the provider.

Review 75:Situated in a very good position for visiting Victoria, BC

Review 76:1/2 hot tubs was out out of service

Review 77:After I made my initial reservation I called the hotel from the ferry to confirm and realized I had booked the wrong dates. A very pleasant young woman answered the call and re booked our room/confirmed our stay for that week. At checkout she made sure that I received the original rate per online booking (she double checked my address) and even remembered my dilemma earlier that week. I will most certainly recommend this hotel to my friends and be returning in the future due to the hospitality and customer service. Excellence!!

Review 78:Joining doors to suites makes it a little loud if people next door make noise. Fireplace didn't work. Was downgraded on arrival!

Review 79:Great staff. Really great food in the restaurant, as good as Shelter the night before! Nice views from rooms.

Review 80:A bit noisy at times due to a connecting room but really not too bad.

Review 81:Nice, clean and comfortable room. Very friendly and accomodating staff. It was great to have a mini kitchen with microwave, fridge and toaster with places, bowls and cutlery. Excellent location on the beach. Even though we didn't bring our dog it was a dog owner's heaven! It was great watching the surfers, paddle boarders and dogs (and owners) enjoying the beach. On our one "storm watchers' day" we enjoyed the fireplace!! Loved our stay!

Review 82:I asked for my room to be cleaned twice and it wasn't the first time. Had to call them. It was done next day. But not a second time. Stayed 5 nights. One of the hot tubs didn't work and the other was out of order at least once a day.

Review 83:Location, seconds from a beautiful beach. Great exercise room with view of the ocean.

Review 84:We were almost billed for a rate considerably higher than the price that we had booked with Booking.com. It was soon rectified by the manager.

Review 85:We liked the accommodation, friendly staff and lovely scenery.

Review 86:Although they did allow us to plug into one of the existing outlets, a charge station to plug in our electric car would have been ideal.

Review 87:The view and the walks on the beach were amazing.

Review 88:Do need better monitoring to insure people are not using hot tub after hours. Loud banging on hot tub door awoke up twice very late at night.

Review 89:The staff at the Tin Wis hotel and restaurant were so warm and welcoming! From the hotel lobby to the restaurant each person we met was amazing! Hot tub is great! We had a fantastic stay!

Review 90:There was nothing we didn't like

Review 91:Every room had a view. It was pet friendly. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. The ability to walk right from the property onto the beach.

Review 92:3 stars, don't expect luxury linens drapes etc. 1. the sofa was not very inviting (low grade)and the colour schemes and furniture slightly mismatched, but with that view who cares. if you need luxury you will have to upgrade. 2. that said threadcount on bedlinens was acceptable, and I am particular about this. the matressess are spring not pocketcoil. 3. waitstaff seemed to be confused about their roles. it was offseason, February and though the waitress was run off her feet, the other young man and woman seemed to require her direction rather than taking initiative. for instance, menus, bread and water were delivered by the man but he never returned to take the order, the waitress asked if he had then she looked after us. the bus girl left the gentleman next to us with an empty dinner plate and empty wineglass on the table for a good 30 minutes in the lounge protion of the restaurant even tough there was only one lgorup of about 12 remaining in th edining room and they were done eating. she passed his table many times. whenever we asked our requests were met promptly.

Review 93:Reception was pleasant, fresh fruit cookies and beverages available and a choice between rooms. all rooms face beach. restaurant very accommodating as I eat a vegan diet. all staff friendly and other guests friendly too.

Review 94:I had a much needed break on my own for one week. It was a week of blissful peace and quiet. The staff, the facility and the view were all excellent!

Review 95:Somehow though I booked both rooms at the same time reception wasn't aware that we were travelling together. It took a while to get rooms in the same building. Wifi wasn't reliable but reception informed us upon check-in and wasn't a big deal for us.

Review 96:location!! At check-in we were informed that there was a problem with a sink in one of our two rooms and were right away given vouchers for free breakfast for two people. When it turned out that the lock of the other room didn't work we immediately got an upgrade to a king room with fire place, which our kids really enjoyed. Again, this happened promptly without us having to ask.

Review 97:The room was perfect. We could listen to the surf. The sunsets outstanding. The fireplace beautiful. The kitchenette handy for heating up leftovers. We only ate off site the first night because once we experienced the restaurant we wanted to go back for more!

Review 98:the key card did not work properly, we had 7 cards before we could enter the room (the door was ajar with the inside lock when we entered, so the problem was known, neighbors had the same problem) Key cards did not work on gym and hottub rooms either 20% discount on meals was not honored, while we where charged taxes on top of our dining room tip

Review 99:yje location

Review 100:The Wi-Fi was a bit flakey for us but may have been due to location rather than something Tin Wis could have corrected. Minor inconvenience.

Review 101:A great combination of perfect location and value. The food was good and priced appropriately - even in winter when it was dark outside the restaurant had a very nice atmosphere - have an early dinner and watch the sun set. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 102:Restaurant was pricey for the quality and, though the servers were nice, the service took way too long Free Wi-Fi was choppy and weak from our room

Review 103:Location just footsteps from the beach Hot tub room was clean and relaxing Close drive to Tofino city centre and a short walk to Chocolate Tofino and Wildside Grill Friendly staff Great location to paddleboard

Review 104:Checkin rate was not what we booked Room was changed to different floor Request at booking not met Xmas dinner too late and food was okay but gravy ran out and long wait for veggies

Review 105:Good location Friendly staff

Review 106:The Internet capability was less than one would expect from a destination resort.

Review 107:A spectacular getaway hotel on the Pacific Rim which delivers far more than one might expect given its modest pricing. The bistro/restaurant was comparable to any high end big city establishment.

Review 108:Absolutely love the location right on MacKenzie Beach! Easy drive to Tofino; easy drive and access to other beaches which is exactly what I wanted - a chance to get fresh-air and exercise, walking and exploring the amazing exposed coastline.

Review 109:The noisy bathroom fan and the room only had basic cable. One other little point was the coffee was too strong at breakfast our last morning. I hate my coffee wrecked first thing. I like a medium brew and that was the only time I had a bad cup of coffee for our whole stay. It was also the only time we had breakfast at the resort.

Review 110:The view, view, view. The room was modern, very clean, quiet and very comfy. MacKenzie beach outside our window with surfers, paddlers, kyackers and folks walking their dogs was great. Watching the weather change over the ocean was fascinating. We would definitely come back to stay.

Review 111:Great value for both the room and the restaurant. Excellent food and service. Beautiful view from our room. We went for a storm watching weekend. The storm happened overnight and both days were beautiful and almost summer-like (pretty nice for late November).

Review 112:Loved the view from our room.we were on the top floor(highly recommend this)The beach walking was lovely. We lucked out and had great weather even tho we came to storm watch.Huge breakfast in the restaurant at pretty reasonable price. We partook of the free cookies on check-in,mmmm.All staff we encountered was very friendly.wonderful 2 day stay

Review 113:Very expensive restaurant; no microwave in room; unable to make meals in room. No magnifying mirror. Pricey for motel type room for the time of year (November).

Review 114:The location is excellent with views of the water and easy access to the beach. Fridge and coffee maker in room. WiFi access was nice to have available. Close proximity to the amenities in Tofino.

Review 115:Not really any complaints Meals may be a bit pricey and food selection could be improved.

Review 116:Very good Location, Extremely friendly staff, Excellent View room w fireplace, Property buildings and grounds are very nice. Breakfasts were great. Property is close to downtown Tofino & walking & cycle Trails. Furnishings and bed are above average.

Review 117:This is a clean hotel with nice rooms, decent economy and an amazing location on Mckenzie beach. The staff were friendly and efficient. I will definitely stay again

Review 118:wifi was slow and kept disconnecting but we'd been warned about that. service in restaurant was slow

Review 119:View Staff were very friendly and helpful rooms and beds were very nice loved seeing a family of 5 raccoons climb out of a small garbage can near the entry to our building

Review 120:Booking.com gave us a price of $189/night without tax. When we got there Best Western gave us $209/night without taxes. We stayed for 2 nights. We ended up having to pay $482 for the 2 nights stay. Be nice if you are up front with us.

Review 121:The location and the view.

Review 122:It is Tofino, so you are paying for the location. We were a bit far from the town, so chose to dine at the hotel. The food in the restaurant was good, but when we showed up for lunch, we were told that it wasn't open yet, despite the fact that the time was almost 40 minutes after the posted opening time. There was a large tour group from Switzerland staying at the hotel the same time as us, so service was slow (the staff told us that was the reason). We ate at the restaurant 3 times and while the food was good, service was just adequate.

Review 123:The room was well appointed and comfortable. We had a gorgeous view of the beach and there was literally nothing I would change in the room.

Review 124:The bathroom door needs a drop of graphite to stop the squeaking. The food acceptable (vegetables were underdone, even for "aldante")

Review 125:The location was excellent. The room was good for the price paid. The restaurant service was great ("thank you" Joe).

Review 126:We ate in the on-site restaurant - seemed to be lots of staff around but the service was very slow and the food was average.

Review 127:The room was good, nice view of the beach from the balcony.

Review 128:The price was was too high for the quality of the room. The picture of the room on line was deceiving. I thought there was a partition between the bedroom and the hide- a-bed. No privacy between our group. very disappointed. Bathroom and refridgerator were small also. For the price we paid not worth it.

Review 129:The view was good

Review 130:We stayed at Tin Wis in 1997 and again with the family in 1998. My understanding is the resort had not been open that long. We loved our stays at Tin Wis then. Back in 2014 we find the fabric of the hotel needs some renovation, very tatty in places and the feeling of a once rather luxurious hotel sadly fading - anything to do with it being a Best Western now I wonder?

Review 131:Location, location, location

Review 132:The beautiful patio was not licensed, and nice fire was turned off at 10 PM! Consequently few people used it. The food could be improved a bit. My breakfast skillet was way too salty and gooey but the porridge was excellent. Dinner was not cheap and a little disappointing.

Review 133:Location, lovely facilities
